~Elsa and Jack~
Elsa paced back and forth around their apartment. Tonight, Jack invited his parents over for dinner. Elsa knew she shouldn't be nervous, but she was. What if Jack's parents hated their house? "Elsa, would you quit your worrying?" Jack chuckled as he watched the blonde wander aimlessly around him.
"Sorry, Jack. I'm just so anxious about tonight." Elsa confessed as she messed with the ring around her finger.
"Why? It's not like this is the first time you're meeting them." Jack smiled. Jack couldn't understand Elsa sometimes. She always worried about things that wouldn't matter.
"I know, it's just that I want to live up to your parents' expectations." Elsa explained. Jack stood up and grabbed her shoulders. He couldn't believe what she was thinking.
"Elsa, you've already met my parents' expectations. You're gorgeous, smart, and funny. You're the perfect daughter-in-law," Jack smiled as he brushed a stand of hair out of her face. He stared into her deep blue eyes. "And the perfect wife." He smiled. He brought crimson to her cheeks.
"Thanks Jackson." Elsa blushed. She never knew he felt that way before. As their lips inched towards each other, the doorbell rang through. Jack groaned, annoyed with the interruption.
"I'll get that." He smiled as he walked towards the door. Elsa stood there smiling like a fool. I think he likes me. Elsa thought to herself.
"Elsa!" Helen shouted as she ran past Jack to give her a hug. Elsa awkwardly chuckled and patted her back. Elsa wasn't one for touchy, affectionate acts.
"Helen, don't strangle the girl." George scolded. George could tell Elsa didn't really feel comfortable with the acts. He was the same way. He would much rather give out a handshake than a hug.
"Sorry. I just-there's something about you that I love." Helene confessed. She couldn't put her finger on it, but there was something about Elsa that made her perfect for Jack. Out of all the girls he's brought home, she was by far the best.
"Thank you." Elsa smiled. She couldn't tell the last time she met them if they liked her. This put her worries to rest.
"Elsa, I showed my friends the shirt we made together and they were so jealous." Sophie bragged. Sophie liked Elsa, a lot. Sophie already considered Elsa a part of the family.
"I bet. It was one of my better works." Elsa teased. Elsa felt like herself when she was around Sophie. Sophie had a personality similar to Anna's. They weren't ones to judge.
"Let's go to the kitchen. Elsa made a great meal." Jack smiled. He loved showing off Elsa. She was a prize he was lucky enough to win.
"I don't know if I would call it great, but it is something." Elsa chuckled. They took a seat at the clean glass table. Elsa hoped it would be formal enough for them.
"Wow! This is cool." Sophie awed as she watched her legs swing back and forth under the table. Sophie had always wanted to see where Elsa and Jack lived. She thought it was too fancy for Jack, but if he liked it, she wasn't going to judge.
"Thank you. I actually bought it about two years ago." Elsa explained. As she placed the food on the table, she noticed that Marshmallow was making her way towards George.
"What? You have a cat!" Sophie exclaimed before Elsa could sneak the cat away.
"Oh yeah. Mom, dad, Soph, this is Marshmallow." Jack introduced as he rubbed the cat's head. She purred in delight. Marshmallow had warmed right up to Jack.
"Can I hold her?" Helen asked as she held her arms out. Jack's mother had always loved cats, but George was allergic to them. Elsa nodded her head and passed the fluffy kitty to her. "What a sweet kitty." Helene smiled as she ran her hand down Marshmallow's back.
"Well, should we say prayer?" George smiled as he clapped his hands together. Everyone smiled and closed their eyes and folded their hands. "Thank you for this wonderful meal tonight. Thank you for keeping our children safe, but most importantly, thank you for bringing Elsa, not only into our lives, but into Jackson's. Amen."
"Amen." Everyone repeated as they smiled at Elsa. Now that she was here, everything seemed better.
~Anna and Kristoff~
"Kristoff, I'm scared." Anna confessed as they walked down the sidewalk on the cool, autumn day. The leaves were crunching under their shoes. They were planning on meeting Hans in the park this afternoon.
"It's okay. I'll be there and it'll be in public. I promise that I won't let him hurt you." Kristoff smiled as he rubbed his thumb over the back of her hand. Anna frowned, still nervous. She wasn't afraid that Hans would hurt her, she was afraid that Hans would hurt Kristoff.
They entered the park, listening to the children squeal in delight. The school day just ended and most of the children sped to the park while it was still nice outside. You could hear the swings creak back and forth. The sound of a basketball dribbling up the sidewalk echo off the dying trees. After a small, silent walk, Anna saw him. "There he is." Anna mumbled.
Kristoff could see the fear building up in Anna. Her face was paler than before. Her hands were clammy up and her jaw was tightly clenched. "Everything will be alright." Kristoff comforted. He kissed the top of her strawberry blonde hair and led her towards him.
"Glad you could make it," Hans smiled. He looked at the happy couple and felt sick. "I see you brought the blonde bimbo." Hans chuckled. Hans hated anyone who was with Anna. If he couldn't have her, no one could.
"His name is Kristoff." Anna defended. Wow, two seconds and he's already calling names. Anna thought. Looking at Hans made her sick. He was dirty and ruthless.
"Whatever. Now Anna, I told you I wanted to talk about our relationship." Hans proceeded, ignoring Kristoff. Hans wanted nothing to do with him. He asked Anna to come alone and she brought her 'husband'.
"Hans, I'm married to Kristoff." Anna replied. Anna was thankful that she volunteered for the show. For one, it gave her a reason to dump Hans. Two, she met Kristoff. He was the love of her life, maybe. She's been scared of heartbreak since Hans, so she's been taking this nice and slow.
"So? Marriage isn't forever. Didn't no one tell you that? There's a thing called divorce, Anna." Hans snapped. He rolled his green eyes, emphasizing that he thought she was stupid. Anna looked at the ground and kicked a few leafs. She felt like an idiot.
Kristoff noticed Anna surrender to Hans' bullying. He had enough. He wasn't going to let his wife get attacked by some jerk. "Shut up." Kristoff defended.
"What?" Hans scoffed. Hans couldn't believe that Kristoff could actually speak. He was usually silent and let Anna do all the talking.
"You heard me." Kristoff growled. He wrapped his arm around Anna, pulling her close. He didn't want her to feel alone.
"Look, this doesn't involve you. This involves me and Anna." Hans spat as he grabbed Anna's hands. She quickly squirmed them away like an octopus. She didn't want Hans anywhere near her. She swiftly wrapped her arms around Kristoff, cuddling into his warm, sweet smelling jacket.
"The hell it doesn't. Anna is my wife. She isn't some toy you can boss around. She isn't your puppet!" Kristoff shouted. He knew he was gathering the attention of people in the park. The children had quieted down, showing they wanted to hear the adults fight.
"Oh and she's yours?" Hans chuckled. He was doing what he did best, twisting people's words, making it sound like something they didn't mean.
"No! I let her make her own decisions. I let her live life the way she wants too." Kristoff replied. Anna froze in his arms. Kristoff had let her do whatever she wanted. She wasn't shot down when she asked to sing with him to sing with her at home. He treated her like a person, a person with feelings and ideas.
"I bet. Let's ask the little lady herself. Come on, Anna. Tell him what you really think." Hans taunted as he got close to her face. His green eyes sent shivers down her spine. They were filled with hated and were very intimidating. Anna could feel his breath as hot as fire on her cheeks. He reminded her of a dragon.
She gulped down her fear, ready to give her answer. She looked at Kristoff. His loving eyes made everything okay. They gave the confidence to ward Hans off. "I think that you should leave me alone. I want to be with Kristoff. Forever." Anna glared. She looked up at Kristoff for support and he smiled.
Hans flared his nostrils in disgust. "Anna, he's a nobody. He can't give you anything want or need. He belongs with people of a lower status. He wouldn't even belong with the homeless." Hans shouted.
"Screw you, Hans, for saying that homeless are worthless. They have just as much, if not more, respect than you. And Kristoff is not a nobody! He's my husband, not yours. Suck it up, buttercup!" Anna defended. She couldn't believe they way he talked about people.
"Anna-"
"Hans, I think it's time you go." Kristoff growled. Hans looked up to the tall blonde. He was going to shout something rude, but decided it would be best to leave. He knew he wouldn't win the fight. Hans didn't have the brutal strength.
Hand turned around and quickly sped back to his car. He stuffed his hands into his pockets, ashamed of his defeat. He avoided the eyes and whispers from the citizens sitting on the benches. "Oh, and Hans." Anna called as she chased him down.
"What?"
"Don't ever call me again. If I hear or see you anywhere near my house, you can guarantee that Kristoff will beat you to a pulp." Anna threatened. Hans turned around and walked away. He wouldn't let them off that easy.
~Merida and Hiccup~
Merida patiently waited for Mulan to show up. Apparently, Mulan had some huge news to share with her. It was so big that Hiccup and Shang weren't allowed to come along. Merida's phone started ringing so she picked it up, knowing Mulan was never early. "Ello." Merida smiled.
"Hi, Mer. It's Rap." Rapunzel shakily spoke. Merida could tell what it was about.
"So, how's it going?" Merida questioned.
"I'm alright, so is junior. Say, if you were to tell Hiccup you were pregnant, how would you say it?" Rapunzel asked. Merida knew that today Rapunzel was going to spill her secret.
"I would drop him some hints. If he couldn't get it after I would go, "Hiccup, I'm pregnant!" Merida exclaimed.
"You're what? Merida!" Hiccup shouted as he stared at Merida with wide eyes. He couldn't have heard Merida right. Merida quickly shook her head no and raised her hand to stop Hiccup from drowning her in questions.
"Do you think I can do it? Maybe I should just wait and see if he notices my stomach grow." Rapunzel rambled. Rapunzel was obviously nervous about this. Hiccup paced around her, trying to get Merida to explain.
"Merida! Are you going to answer my question?" Hiccup exclaimed as he tugged on her arm like a child. He had to know what was going on!
"No, Rap. I think you can do it today. You're an independent, confident woman. You can tell him the information loud and proud." Merida encouraged as she covered her hand over Hiccup's rambling mouth. He couldn't believe she was carrying a baby. How would his parents react to this?
"Thanks Mer! Well, I'll call you afterwards."
"No problem, bye Rap." Merida quickly ended the call. She let go of Hiccup's mouth and sat back down in her seat. She knew he would shove more questions down her throat so she picked at her fingernails.
"You're pregnant? Well this is definitely a surprise. Wait. That can't be my child. We've never done it. Merida, have you been cheating on me?" Hiccup babbled. Merida stared at him, unamused. Hiccup was usually smart, but today it was like he traded brains with Jack. She blurred out his stupid questions and waited until he was quiet.
"Can eye tell my side of da story?" Merida questioned. Hiccup quickly calmed himself and fixed his posture, showing he was ready for Merida's side of the story. He was trying to act calm, but on the inside he was freaking out. "Thank you. Anywho, I'm not pregnant. And no, I haven't been cheating on you. Wouldn't dream off it. One of my closet friends is pregnant." Merida explained in her thick Scottish accent. She hoped she provided him with information to satisfy him.
"So you're not pregnant? Oh god. You really had me worried there. I mean, it wouldn't be possible for it to be mine so it would have to be someone else. But who's would it be?" Hiccup rambled, giving off the most random questions.
"Yup. Not pregnant. So everything is okay." Merida smiled. She hoped that ended the subject.
"So why did you say, "Hiccup, I'm pregnant,"?" Hiccup asked. That didn't make any sense to him. If it was her friend, she wouldn't be saying his name.
"She wanted to know what I would say to you." Merida explained. He asked all the possible questions. There couldn't be anymore curiosity in him, could there?
"Oooooo," Hiccup awed, finally understanding what happened. "Wait. You said goodbye to Rap. Rapunzel's have a baby?"
"Shut your babbling mouth!" Merida exclaimed as she covered his mouth again. Great. Now Hiccup knew Rapunzel's secret before Eugene. That's just peachy. She let go of him because he licked her hand.
"Oh boy. Rapunzel's having a baby. Does her husband know?" Hiccup questioned as he paced around the room, running his hands through his hair. Merida was silently scolding herself for letting the secret out to the world's biggest worrier.
"Look, this is all I know. Rapunzel's almost two months pregnant. She's telling Eugene soon and I wasn't allowed to tell anyone." Merida growled. She wasn't angry at Hiccup. She was mad at herself.
"She still hasn't told him?" Hiccup exclaimed. He hoped Merida would tell him sooner than Rapunzel. That's a long time to wait to someone they're having their baby.
"Hiccup, look at Eugene. He's like a poker player. One minute you think he'll agree with you and the next he freaks out. No one knows how he'll react to this." Merida explained. Merida tried to give Rapunzel confidence that he'll be overjoyed to have a baby, but Merida didn't know. Honestly, Merida thought he would freak out. This was a guy who planned on being a bachelor his whole life. Now he was married and having a child.
"I guess. Is this why she's been acting funny?" Hiccup asked. Merida nodded her head. Hiccup already knew the secret, might as well give him the details.
"Yeah. But I haven't talked to her since that night. Hiccup, I have no idea what's going on in her mind. She could've changed her mind and is planning on having an abortion. This is just a mess!" Merida cried as she placed her face into her hands. She was starting to become stressed from and issue that wasn't her's. Great.
"I think everything will turn out okay. If Rapunzel tells him soon enough, he might be okay with it. Like you said, he's got a poker face. We might be thinking that he'll leave when really, he's excited to have a child." Hiccup smiled. He was always one to see the glass half full.
"Oh Hic, I can only hope. I don't know what she'll do if he refuses." Merida sighed. Hiccup rubbed her back, comforting her. There wasn't anything they could do but hope that he likes the idea of having a little bundle of joy.
"Mulan!" Merida greeted as she gave her friend a hug. They met at Mulan's favorite restaurant. They took a seat, ready to hear Mulan's news.
"So. How have things been?" Mulan asked, trying to clear the air. She didn't like the thought of spilling her secret this way.
"Alright. Hiccup's going back to school, I've been filling my days working behind the counter with Tia. Life couldn't be better." Merida smiled. Merida hadn't felt this happy in forever, but something in her gut was sending her warning signs that something bad was bound to happen something, something to throw all her happiness off balance.
Mulan's face twitched between happiness and sorrow. She couldn't break Merida's heart, but that was why she called her here. "Actually, Merida, I have something to tell you." Mulan confessed as she fumbled with the napkin on the table.
"What?" Merida questioned. Merida could tell by the change in the atmosphere that her news was dreadful. It was something that would cause them pain.
"Well, the army is calling for soldiers to serve over in China and I was the first to volunteer. From the forms I've received, there's a huge percentage that I won't be coming back alive." Mulan frowned.
"What? No! Mulan you can't go!" Merida cried as she grabbed onto her friend's hands. Mulan was volunteering for a suicidal mission. Merida couldn't live with herself if she let her best friend do that.
"I have to Merida. You know how patriotic I am. I'm not going to back down when they need soldiers. This is my choice. I'm going to China." Mulan argued. She knew Merida would immediately refuse, but Mulan didn't know how hard it would be to argue with her.
"When do you leave?" Merida questioned after a long pause of silence. Merida knew there was no changing Mulan's mind.
"Three days. I've waited this long so I would feel sympathy from you." Mulan explained.
"Does Shang know?" Merida asked. Merida saw Mulan's eyes fill with tears. She covered her hand over her mouth.
"No. I can't tell him." Mulan sobbed.
"You have to!" Merida argued. She couldn't believe that Mulan was just going to leave her husband wandering in the dark, wondering where his wife went.
"I know I do. But I won't tell him until the morning before I leave. It's best that way." Mulan mumbled. Merida knew she couldn't argue with Mulan. It was her decision, not Merida's.
"Okay." Merida frowned. She felt terrible sorrow that one of her best friends were leaving. She wasn't sure how to live without her, but Merida knew she would have to deal with it.
~Rapunzel and Eugene~
"Rap, why is there a random spoon in the ice cream?" Eugene asked as he pulled the chocolate ice cream out of the freezer. She had been acting weird lately and this wasn't even the worst. First, she begged for pickles and now she wanted chocolate ice cream.
"Sorry, I just had a craving." Rapunzel smiled as she sat down at the counter. She tried to keep her smile looking natural. She couldn't keep her secret anymore. Today was the day. She called Merida to give her courage, which helped, but she was still a tad bit nervous.
"Like for your period?" Eugene questioned. He didn't know much about girls and their time of the month. He chose to ignore it like it doesn't happen, but living with a sister made that difficult. All he knew was that they get moody, hungry, and are in pain. He just rolled with it and did his best.
Rapunzel smirked and shook her head no. "Actually, I haven't had my period in two months." She replied. She leaned over the counter, hoping he got the hint. It couldn't be anymore obvious, right? Wrong. He shot her a very confused look. Instead of clearing things up, she made them foggier.
"Is that supposed to happen?" He questioned with his face scrunched up in confusion. Women are supposed to get it once a month for about a week, right? Why was she so happy to miss it?
"Anyways, what are you making for dinner? We are starving." Rapunzel declared, ignoring his question. There. That had to clear everything thing up for him. Cravings, missing periods, using we instead of I. It couldn't be much harder to put the pieces together.
"Have you been drinking?" He added as he raised his eyebrow. She was talking nonsense. He wasn't a doctor! What was she getting at? Maybe she really had been drinking and had a little too much. Maybe she was dreaming or lying to him. He laid a the back of his hand against her forehead, checking if she was sick.
She giggled and pushed his hand away. "No, drinking actually is bad for development." Rapunzel grinned. She almost burst out laughing. After all her hints, he still wasn't understanding. She just wanted to shout out her answer, but she wanted him to get it himself.
"Okay, you are completely crazy." Eugene replied as he rapidly blinked his eyes. He walked past her to get a drink a water. He hoped that would buy him some time to think. What is going on with her? Eugene thought. He thought Merida cured her that night.
Rapunzel stood up and walked towards him. She leaned against the cupboard and rubbed her stomach. That's literally the last hint she could give. If he couldn't get that, nothing else would work. "I'm not crazy. It's just the side effects." She explained.
"Side effects of what? Whatever you're trying to tell me is obviously not working so you might as well tell me." Eugene grumbled. He took a huge gulp of water, annoyed with her hints. He was a man. He just wanted the flat out truth, not this game of charades.
"Eugene," Rapunzel started. He hummed in response, telling he was listening. Rapunzel gulped down her anxiety, ready to shout her secret. "I'm pregnant!" Rapunzel squeaked. Eugene choked on his water and slammed the glass against the counter. Did he hear he correctly?
Eugene snapped around and grabbed Rapunzel's shoulders. "Want to run that by me again?" He pleaded, raising one of his eyebrows. Rapunzel's face lit up with excitement. She looked like she was going to jump ten feet in the air.
"I'm pregnant!" She squealed. Eugene's eyes widen. He looked between her stomach and her. His eyes darted back and forth, making Rapunzel cover her mouth to keep from squealing again. She laughed with happiness, bringing tears to her eyes. That had to be good sign, right?
"Let me just get this straight, there's a person in there?" He questioned as he pointed at her stomach. Rapunzel quickly nodded her head yes. "It's mine, right?"
"Well who else's would it be?" Rapunzel laughed. That was not the reaction she expected him to have.
"Rapunzel, this is-"
"Wonderful?" Rapunzel questioned, hoping that would be his answer. She twiddled her thumbs nervously.
"Fantastic!" Eugene sighed as he sat down. He felt like he was walking on clouds. Rapunzel jumped up and down, happy to finally let her secret out. This whole time she had been hiding in terror when she could have been jumping for joy. "Is this why you were acting so weird lately?"
Rapunzel looked at the floor and slowly nodded her head. "Yeah," She frowned. Eugene quickly wrapped Rapunzel into another hug, leaning her head onto his shoulder. "I thought you would hate me and leave or not want a baby." Rapunzel sobbed, spilling her worries. Eugene ran a hand down her head.
"Rapunzel, I couldn't hate you if I tried," Eugene comforted. He pulled her forward and looked into her deep green eyes. "I would never leave you, especially in a time like this. You're going to need more help if that baby is anything like me." Eugene teased as he bopped her nose.
She giggled and looked at the ground, when an idea popped into her head. "Would you like to see him/her?" Rapunzel taunted, biting her bottom lip. Eugene's eyes lit up as he nodded his head like a child. Secretly, Eugene had always wanted to be a father. He would be better than his parents. He would care, love, and treat each of his children with respect. "Look!" She smiled as she handed him the ultrasound. He greedily snatched the sonogram from her hands.
"My god," He awed as he ran his fingers through his hair. They really were expecting a baby. This...this was the best news he's ever received. He couldn't help but smile like an idiot at the thought of having a kid. "I'm going to be dad." He mumbled.
"What?" Rapunzel asked, unable to understand him.
"I'm going to be a dad!" He cheered. He brought her into a huge hug. Nothing could have made the moment any better. Rapunzel was nervous that he wouldn't want a kid, but her thoughts were put to rest when she saw his face. He looked like a child on Christmas.
"Do you want to call our parents and tell them the great news?" Rapunzel smiled as she looked up at her husband. He nodded his head and grabbed the phone and quickly punched in their number, ready to hear what they thought.
"Hello?" Arianna answered. She couldn't figure out why Rapunzel would be calling her so late at night. Rapunzel wasn't one for late night girl talks.
"Mom, can you put me on speaker phone?" Rapunzel questioned. She intertwined her fingers with Eugene's and gave them a squeeze of nervousness and excitement. One person down, four to go.
"Sure, sure." Arianna replied as she fumbled with the phone. She ran beside Frederic and waited for Rapunzel. She hadn't the foggiest idea what Rapunzel could want to talk about.
"Is something wrong, Rap?" Frederic asked. Usually, Rapunzel only put them on speaker phone when she had something important to tell them.
"Eugene and I have something very important to tell you," Rapunzel started. She looked at her husband and nodded her head. "We're pregnant!" They cheered.
"You're what?" Rapunzel's parents exclaimed. They couldn't have possibly heard her right. Rapunzel being pregnant? That wasn't likely.
"Pregnant. I'm carrying your grand baby!" Rapunzel laughed. She knew this would be surprise for her parents.
"Oh Rap this is wonderful!" Arianna and Frederic cheered. They were happy for their daughter and her husband. They were growing their family and showing that they were planning on staying together. This was something that they had dreamed of hearing. Their baby girl was married and having children!
