Christmas Party
~Elsa and Jack~
"Oh my god! I still don't have the appetizers ready!" Elsa cried as she dashed into the kitchen. Everyone decided that it would be best to have the party at Elsa and Jack's, since they couldn't remember the last time they went to Burgess. Her blue dress was trailing behind her, making Marshmallow whip her tail back and forth.
"Elsa, just calm down. Everything will be okay." Jack assured as he bent down to pick up the fluffy, white cat pouncing onto her train. He softly rubbed her head, making her purr in delight.
"I know, but I really want this to be prefect." She fretted as she set the cheese and crackers on a brand new, shiny platter. She placed three bottles of chilled champagne on the counter. She wanted to impress.
"It will be," Jack smiled as he gave her a comforting hug. "For God's sake, it's Christmas! Lighten up!" He cheered as he rested his chin onto of her head.
"Okay! Okay!" Elsa giggled as he planted a kiss on her crimson cheek. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. "Hehe, I'll get that." She smiled as she peeled herself away from Jack, who was smiling like an idiot.
As Elsa opened the door, Merida and Hiccup burst through. Their eyes bulged out of their heads at their apartment. It was gorgeous, it was stunning, and most importantly, it was expensive. The white furniture, glass coffee table, and flat screen gave it away. Hiccup and Merida probably didn't make a yearly salary even close to what Elsa earns in a month. "Wow." They awed.
"Do you like it?" Elsa questioned as she folded her hands. She hoped they didn't go overboard with the Christmas decorations. Elsa thought there was enough Christmas lights hanging above the doorway, but Jack thought they needed more. She just prayed that Marshmallow wouldn't eat the lights and be fried into a crisp. Not only would she lose her beloved pet, but she would have a burn stain in her white carpet.
"Like it? I love it! How much do you make a year?" Merida exclaimed, letting her mouth ramble as her hand traveled across her couch. She knew that was a personal question, but they were friends. Merida wouldn't feel offended if Elsa didn't reply.
"More than enough," Elsa softly chuckled as she led the couple to the kitchen. When they entered, they saw Jack sneaking some cookies Elsa made earlier. Elsa crossed her arms and impatiently tapped her foot. "Jackson!" Elsa scolded. Immediately, Jack turned around, crumbs falling from his face.
"What?" Jack mumbled, trying to keep the cookies in his mouth. He would try to smile, but that was basically a suicide mission. Elsa just cleaned their floor, so spilling half eaten cookies would not make her happy.
"No more cookies! You know I made them for everyone." Elsa smiled as she took the container from him. He nodded his head as the doorbell rang. After a couple of seconds, the door burst open.
"Elsa, I don't understand why you didn't decorate your door like everyone else. I think it would make it easier for everyone to find." Anna explained as she took off her green jacket and tossed it over the couch. Kristoff followed behind her, carrying a tub probably full of sugar cookies.
"Hey guys." Kristoff greeted as he gave a small wave. He placed the container on the counter, hoping Elsa knew what was inside. Anna had made wayyy too many cookies the other day, so they decided to bring that as a snack to share.
"Hey!" Everyone smiled back. Merida and Hiccup took off their coats and placed them beside Anna's.
"Oh! Here Els. Hiccup and I tried to make fudge." Merida softly smiled, hoping it was enough. After seeing Anna bring such a big container full of something, she became unsure of her treat. Elsa lifted the lid to look inside. She took a deep breath and sighed.
"It smells heavenly!" Elsa awed as she ripped off the cover. Everyone took a deep breath and sighed. It was the perfect mix of chocolate and nuts together. Elsa immediately took out a knife and began to spilt the fudge into smaller pieces. Someone knocked on the door and Jack quickly ran to open it.
"Eugene, I'm just saying- Jack!" Rapunzel smiled as she brought him into a hug. Her baby bump was in the way, but she didn't care. Jack lightly hugged her back, unsure what to do.
"Hey guys." He awkwardly smiled as they entered. Eugene awed at the apartment, wishing he had that much cash to spare, but now Rapunzel and him were going to short with the new baby.
"Oh Jack, we don't bite." Rap teased as she elbowed his side. He chuckled, realizing how she hadn't changed from her old self. Eugene had complained about her mood swings, but Jack couldn't tell.
"Well, come on in then." Jack chuckled as he led them to the party. Eugene pet the cat on his way through, tempted by the fluffy fur. It was white and huggable. How could you not want to pet it? The cat reminded him of a squishy marshmallow.
"Fudge!" Rapunzel cried as she snatched it out of Kristoff's hands right before he popped it into his mouth. She squealed as she looked at the treat. This was definitely something she was craving.
"Hey!" Kristoff exclaimed as he realized what happened. She sent him a glare and held it close to her.
"Mine now." She growled. The two went into a staring contest, trying to see who wanted that fudge more. The longer the time passed, the more they began to squint. Kristoff's eyes began to water, but he wasn't going to back down.
"Kristoff, if I was you, I would let it go." Eugene advised as he twisted him away from Rapunzel.
"But I had-"
"Honestly, it's just easier for everyone if you let the moody pregnant woman do whatever she wants and eat whatever she wants." He continued, cutting Kristoff off. Eugene placed their two bowls on the counter beside the other foods.
"Ooo! What's in here?" Anna smiled as she popped off one of the lids. The smell of Chex Mix filled her nose. She grinned, thinking off the time she and her mother made Chex Mix their last Christmas together. It brought back happy memories.
"What's in da other one?" Merida questioned as she took of the top. She looked down at her favorite snack, puppy chow. Her jaw dropped as she dug her hand deep into the container.
"Take however much you want. I already ate my fill." Rapunzel allowed as she ate one of Anna's cookies. On the way down to Burgess, Rapunzel ate about half of the container, trying to satisfy her cravings. It didn't do much.
"What would you guys like to drink? We have champagne, beer." Elsa offered as she took out her fanciest glasses. This was the perfect occasion to use them. Multiple agreements were heard for champagne as she poured a couple glasses.
"Do have any juice? Or water would be fine too." Rapunzel softly smiled as she took a seat at the counter. She wasn't going to drink any alcohol. She wasn't going to hurt her baby at all cost.
"I think we have orange juice," Jack replied as opened the fridge. He scrambled around when something caught eye. He grinned and brought it back to the counter. "I know this isn't orange juice, but I think you'll like this."
Eugene picked up the bottle and read the cover. He smiled and popped the cork for her. "Sparkling apple cider. You'll love it." He grinned as he poured her a glass. She eyed it, unsure if she should take a drink. She swirled the liquid as everyone watched to see her reaction.
"You're sure there's no alcohol?" Rapunzel questioned as she held it to the light. Everyone nodded their heads.
"Non-alcoholic. We give it to the girls all the time." Eugene informed. That good enough for her. She took a sip, loving the replacement for champagne. She felt like she was drinking with everyone else.
"Thanks Jack." Rapunzel smiled as she set her drink on the counter.
"Soo, how's Christmas been going for you guys?" Merida asked as she swirled her drink. She was happy to be out with her friends. Next week, she and Hiccup were going to be spending days with their families. This was her one time to hang with her friends.
"Good. We're visiting Jackson's family on Sunday. I'm so excited to see Sophie again." Elsa smiled as she leaned against her husband. He wrapped an arm around her, happy that she was enjoying herself tonight. Usually she would be under too much stress to even chat with everyone.
"We're already visited Kristoff's family. There were so many children running around the place that I'm surprised that no one got hurt." Anna added as she happily took another handful of Chex Mix.
"That's not true. Remember, at least three kids came downstairs crying that fell off the bed and hurt their arms." Kristoff softly chuckled. He knew his family was huge and crazy, but he loved them. But what he loved even more was that Anna was okay with huge and crazy. She didn't even seem fazed when she entered the madhouse the other night.
"Oo! Oo! We had both of our families over at the same time! That was crazy." Rapunzel giggled as she took another piece of fudge. She was starving and craving chocolate for some reason.
"More like awkward." Eugene corrected as he took another sip from his drink. He was all right with Rap's family and his sister, but everyone else he would have much rather have not seen. He just wasn't ready to forgive them yet.
"It wasn't that awkward. Maybe a little at the moment, but soon it will feel natural." Rapunzel smiled. She had her heart set on him making up with his family. After all, if you didn't have family, what would you have?
"Yuck, you had to spend Christmas with your snobby parents?" Anna exclaimed as her face scrunched in disgust. She remember his parents from his promotion party. They weren't exactly the nicest people she's ever met.
"Yeah, but I guess it turned out alright." Eugene shrugged as he grabbed the bottle and filled his glass up again. He wanted to stop talking about his parents. Tonight was abo friends, not family.
"That's good. So Els, how's the company doing?" Hiccup asked. He had stayed quiet, trying to take in the moment. He hadn't really been invited to a party before. Sure, they had Christmas parties for the teachers, but he wasn't exactly close with them. Plus he was afraid of saying something that would embarrass him and Mer.
Elsa finished her drink and set it on the counter. "Good. Good. Everything is going smoothly. The expansion should be finished soon, we're hiring new workers, and we're making a great income at the moment." She smiled. Her company was her pride and joy. She was always updated on every little detail.
"Rap, what are you doing?" Jack exclaimed as she took the pickle jar out of the fridge. She quickly pulled out a few pickles, happy to have a little snack.
"What's it look like? I'm having some pickles!" She smiled as she took a bite of the crunchy treat. She happily sighed. It was like she was in heaven. Everyone looked at her husband, who was completely unfazed. Merida flicked the back of his head, making him cry in pain.
"What?" He whined as he rubbed the back of his neck. Merida nodded towards the brunette who was now dunking a sugar cookie in the pickle juice. He scrunched his nose and shook his head. "Cravings. She eats the weirdest things. This isn't new." He explained.
"Rap, you do realize that you're eating ranch covered fudge, right?" Anna asked as Rapunzel dunked a piece of fudge into the ranch, that was meant for the veggies. Rapunzel nodded her head and smiled.
"And it's delicious." She grinned. She looked around, trying to find something else to fill her needs. Evening looked back at Eugene who was laughing.
"What?" Elsa questioned. Elsa didn't find it very funny. If anything, she found it disgusting. Rapunzel's symptoms were a few of the reasons she wasn't planing on being pregnant soon.
"Usually, she eats lettuce covered in frosting. Last week, she told me that pickles disgusted her. It was just a coincidence that her name basically means lettuce in German." Eugene chuckled. Everyone shook their heads and softly laughed. It was kind of funny.
"Let's bring this party into the living room. Maybe she won't feel the need to snack." Elsa smiled. Everyone agreed and followed Jack into their white living room. As they entered, Merida began to laugh.
"Look what's above you!" She laughed as everyone's heads shot up. There was a flipping mistletoe. Sure enough, Jack and Elsa were both underneath it.
"Jackson!" Elsa cried as she shoved her husband. He just laughed and shrugged his shoulders.
"It wasn't me, Snowflake." He laughed. Everyone looked at the strawberry blonde twirling one of her traditional braids.
"What? It wasn't me." She softly smiled as blush was brought to her cheeks, showing that it was indeed her. Rapunzel smiled and ran to the group.
"Just kiss!" She cheered as Eugene wrapped and arm around her shoulder. Elsa folded her arms, not wanting to kiss Jack because everyone was watching.
"You first." Elsa commanded. Rapunzel shrugged and planted a sloppy kiss on Eugene's lips. Elsa groaned, knowing that there was no way of getting out of it.
Jack, knowing that Elsa wasn't ready, dipped her, making her scream. Before she could even scold him, he smashed his lips onto her, making everyone chant. When they came up, their cheeks were as bright as their fireplace. Suddenly, sobs were heard. "Punz, what's wrong?" Anna questioned.
"It's just so beautiful! A stupid television show brought these two together! They're prefect for each other!" Rapunzel cried as she wiped away her tears with Eugene's sleeve, which he didn't enjoy.
"Oh Rap, stop your crying." Merida teased as everyone took a seat on the couch.
"I'm sorry." She giggled, knowing that Merida wasn't really mad at her. Everyone gathered around the fireplace, watching the flames trick back and forth, making a beautiful show.
"How can you have a fire place in an apartment?" Kristoff questioned. All eyes were on the couple, happily sharing their time together. Honestly, that didn't make any sense.
"It's fake, you dummies." Jack chuckled. Everyone joined in, realizing their mistake. After a couple of silent minutes, Anna spoke up.
"So Rap, what are you having?" She wondered. She wanted to know what to get the happy couple. Sure, money would do just fine, but that didn't seem genuine. She wanted something for them to enjoy.
"It's a surprise." Rapunzel smiled as she rubbed her stomach.
"It's obviously a boy." Eugene chuckled as he leaned back into the soft couch as the cat jumped beside them. Everyone smiled as they watched the couple.
"And how would you know? You're not carrying the baby." Rapunzel smirked at her grinning husband. They hadn't really talked about what gender the baby was. They just knew they wanted it to be a surprise.
"It has to be. All firsts are boys." Eugene cockily smiled. Rapunzel teasing scoffed as she slapped his chest.
"That's not true," She fired back. "Elsa's the oldest and she's a girl. I'm an only child and I'm girl. Merida is the oldest and she has three little brothers!"
"You didn't let me finish, all first Fitzherberts are boys. Actually the first two." He corrected. Everyone laughed, watching them playfully argue. It was a fun sight to see.
"Well I think it's a girl." Rapunzel smirked, wanting to prove him wrong. She was always right.
"We should make a bet." Merida added. Everyone agreed as Elsa grabbed the paper and markers. She marked which side would be for a girl and which side was for a boy.
"Here, write your name and how much you bet." Elsa smiled as she tossed the markers on the table. Rapunzel quickly grabbed the pink marker wrote her name with a bet of ten.
"It's obviously a boy." Kristoff cockily smiled as he grabbed the blue marker and wrote in ten dollars.
"You're on!" Anna happily challenged as she took the pink marker and bet fifteen. She wanted to prove Kristoff wrong. He didn't know anything about babies, so he couldn't be right. Besides, she agreed that Eugene wasn't carrying the baby, so Rap had to be right.
After everyone made their bets, it turned out that Eugene and Kristoff were the only two betting on it being a boy. "It's not even fifty-fifty! So it must be a girl." Hiccup chuckled as he looked at the poster.
"I know it's a boy. Just you watch." Eugene smirked as he snatched the poster away from Hiccup. He quickly bumped his bet up to a hundred. He wasn't going to lose.
Everyone laughed and sat back down, wanting to win. Eugene and Kristoff were praying that junior's 23rd chromosome would be XY. If not, well they were in deep trouble. Everyone was against them, but they knew they were right. "You know, your sister had two girls." Rapunzel smirked.
Eugene shrugged his shoulders. "Their father isn't a Fitzherbert. So obviously it wouldn't be two boys." He smirked. Everyone laughed, enjoying each other's company. This was a great way to spend Christmas together, all nine of them, including junior.
