Ch. 32 - Grateful wifey
____________________________________________________________________________
Just now, Levy had dragged me to the lockers and made me sit while she stood there in front of me with her arms resting on her hips. “You are keeping a secret from me, Lu.”
I shook my head then shrugged. “Yeah... I don't think so.” I denied, trying to avoid the topic about Lisanna. Levy would definitely get mad at me for agreeing to become her rival.
She lifted an eyebrow and zoomed in closer to me. “You sure? Remember, Lu, I will find out your secret--sooner or later. I can start working right now. I can smell some clues.” she smirked.
My whole body shivered in guilt of keeping this from my own bestfriend. Until, I snapped. “Alright!” I breathed.
“I agreed to become rivals with Lisanna.” After I had that stated, I closed my eyes as preparation for some scolding from her.
Instead of hearing her lecture, I saw her hand shivering. She sighed. “You do know you're an idiot for agreeing to something that stupid. I mean, come on, you obviously already won since you two are married.”
I looked around to monitor if someone was listening. Fortunately, no one was here so that's a relief. “I wanted to give Lisanna--hope. A chance. Maybe a little spark to show her she should do the best she could to fight for her love.”
Levy and I blushed in unison. “A--nyway,” Levy cleared her throat, changing topics. “You're just giving Lisanna false hope, you know? I'm sure the poor girl is regretting of challenging you.” she wrapped her arms around me. “So proud of you!”
“What did I do to make you proud?”
“For your declare of rivals with Lisanna, it's also a sign that you want to fight for Natsu, too.” Levy scooted a bit away from me and giggled. “Ohh, man! I wish Natsu was there to see it.”
She scooted back and elbowed me. "So, what do you plan to do to make sure Natsu is yours?" She lend me her ear to listen. But instead, I said, “Nothing.”
“Make sure to wear a sexy lingerie tonight for the seduction plan--wait, what?!” her eyes widened in full surprise. “B-But, I-I thought you...”
I shook my head. “No, I-I don't plan on making him fall for me. Since we are just 'friends' and nothing more than just a forced marriage couple. And... ugh!” I exclaimed with frustration. “I'll just thank him later for everything and then I'm done.”
Levy sighed then shook her head. “Oh, Lucy. Sooner or later, you will realize the truth,” I looked deeply into Lev's eyes and waited for her to continue. “that you will never let Natsu go to anyone else.”

l a t e r . . .
After picking up my bag and reached my books, I went outside to push some things inside it. “Alright. This is it, Lucy. You're gonna cook a nice big cake for Natsu as thanks for everything then that's it. I won't interfere with Lisanna and him anymore.” Closing the door of my locker, I pulled the poster of the cake and started skipping home ahead of Natsu to give me a headstart.
“whoa-!”
Almost losing my balance, that someone I hit held me by my hand and managed to keep me standing. I sighed in relief and looked at the person in front of me. “...watch it.” he stated coldly then left.
I didn't have the chance to classify who he was but I did see his too much piercings on his right ear while his left had one hanging at the very end. He had blonde hair and had a very hoarse voice.
“T-Thank you!” I managed to yell before rushing outside the school then straight to the house.
There's no time to lose, I left my bag on the sofa and went straight to the kitchen, trying my hair up into a pony tail. Then, pulled my sleeves up, pulling the ingredients out and started baking.
“Okay, flour... eggs, mixture... mixture, mixture, mixture... whisk!” I grabbed the whisk and started mixing the ingredients together. There's no time to lose. Natsu will definitely come home any minute!

Natsu's P.O.V.
“Hey, hey, wait!” I rushed towards Levy then looked around. “W-Where's--”
She cut me off when she spoke. “Lucy went ahead. She, uh, said she needed to go home to, uhm... f-finish some kind of project. Right.” she whispered. “A-Anyway, I have to go now, bye--”
She was about to go but I grabbed her by her bag. “Seriously? Oh, man...” I scratched the back of my neck. “Thanks, anyway.” I pat her head gently and started walkig out of the school.
“Natsu! Natsu!”
Ohhh... what now...? I managed to turn around no matter how important I want to talk to Lucy. Lisanna was running towards me with a wide smile. “Oh! Y-You must be going home with Lucy...?” she looks around.
I shook my head at her. “Uh, no. She, uh, went ahead of me.” I quickly stated. “Anyway, I gotta go. Uh, bye.”
“Wait! C-Can... can I walk together with you...?” she asked in a stammering voice. I stared at her reaction and I could tell that she was waiting for me to answer. She seemed eager to go.
I sighed in defeat. “I can take you to the subway only. Lucy's waiting for me.”
She suddenly lightened up. “T-Thank you, N-Natsu...” she blushed, slightly bowing to ignore my glances then walked beside me.
I better hurry up. I'm worried about Lucy. Why the hell did she leave me in the first place? Man. She's so twisted.
“S-So,” Lisanna started all of a sudden as we moved along towards the subway. “Y-You and Lucy are married, right?” she asked.
I took a quick glance at her reaction. She seems a little down and nobody can be fooled by her forced smile. I took my eyes off her.
“You got that right.”
“Mmf...” she giggles softly. “But, you two don't have feelings for each other.” she added to her question.
I couldn't answer right away. Don't we have feelings for each other? All I know is when you marry someone, that someone is the person you wanna spend your whole life with. They should love each other and be faithful. I feel like I'm cheating on Luce. Screw this.
When I stopped walking, Lisanna and I were already at the subway. She smiled and was about to talk but I cut her off.
"Na-"
"Lisanna," I spoke in a serious tone then turned to face her. The wind blew through our skin and that's when I finally stated that, "Lucy and I are married now. Even if we don't have any romantic feelings for each other, our marriage is still legal. We've vowed and devoted ourselves to each other in front of the altar, the priest and our whole family. I can't break that promise. I don't love you. I'm sorry."
At first, she was shaking--her whole body was. But, after giving out that speech, she bowed her head, looking away from me. She turned around and faced where the sun was setting. I could hear her sniffling. "I-It's okay... even if you won't ever love me... m-my feelings can't change... for now..." her voice was shaking. "B-But, I-I will try my best... to forget you..."
The train stopped by, making Lisanna turn around with an obvious fake smile. "But, you know what? I don't think I ever will."
I shook my head, patting her head. "Everyone has a happy ending. This time is just not he right time yet. You'll soon find someone who's better than me--who'll love you with all his heart."
She coughs then chuckles a bit. "Y-Yeah... I-I think I get it now... Goodbye."
As soon as the train left, I immediately realized I've been here on this drama scene and forgot about Lucy being at home alone. So, I quickly rushed to run towards our home.

"T-Tadaima..." I whispered in a very low voice when I got home. Once I slowly opened the screen door, it creaked a bit. I closed it and felt something strange. Nobody's attacking me? Nobody's turning the lights on?
Turnig around completely, I find the only light lit on was by the kitchen. I walked over to the light switches and switched the light on by the living room. There, as I began walking over to the kitchen, I saw Lucy wearing an apron and a handkerchief playing as her clip, sleeping on top of the bar.
"L-Lucy...?" I never saw her like this before. She would usually yell at me, and ask me why I came home late.
As I walked over to her to get a better sight, I realized something was smelling great. I saw the cover and it had something written on it; To Natsu. Thank you for saving me. Lucy.
I gulped, wonderig curiously as to what she baked me. Slowly lifting the cover off, I saw a round shaped cake, chocolate flavored with chocolate frosting and a message on top that said; Thank you :)
I chuckled softly to myself then turned to Lucy. "Geez... what time is he even gonna come home, anyway...? That... stupid... idiot..." I heard Lucy moan.
I shook my head. "Wow. Never knew she had a tsundere side. It's cute." I smirked and slowly crouching my neck to kiss her cheek. "Thanks, Luce."
Now, to carry her to bed.
