CHAPTER 21 : LOVE IS IN THE AIR

Hello all:)

Past few months had been really tough. It was hard, but yeah life has to go on!

And I realised I'm unnecessarily dragging this story. Maybe once I complete this story, others who are waiting for that can start reading this story. So I'll try my best to complete this story within this year, that's by next month.

Early in the morning when Gauri woke up from her sleep, she was surprised to see that her husband was not on the bed.

Gauri decided to take a shower quickly and go to the kitchen since it was her pehli rasoi today.

As she came out of the bathroom, she was surprised to see her husband in his gym clothes, dripping in sweat.

"Hey! Good morning! I was at the gym. Since you were sleeping so peacefully I didn't want to disturb you." Omkara told her.

"Ooh okay! And good morning to you too." Gauri said smiling.

"A very good morning it is." Omkara said smiling seeing her in a saree again.

Gauri blushed seeing him checking her out while walking towards the bathroom.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

On reaching the kitchen, Gauri realised she woke up too early since none of the servants were also not there.

Deciding to make coffee for her husband and tea for others, Gauri kept the water for boiling.

As she waited for it to get boiled, Gauri got startled hearing the sudden loud music.

Gauri turned around only to see her husband looking at her with a guilty face, near the speaker.

"You scared me!" Gauri told him sighing.

"Sorry! I just wanted to put some music. Didn't know the volume was too high." Omkara said.

Gauri shook her head with a smile and turned around continuing her work.

After adjusting the volume and putting on some nice music, Omkara came near her and sat on the kitchen slab.

Gauri felt his gaze piercing into her and turned to look at him. She blushed seeing him staring at her and then turned back.

"Stop staring." Gauri told him still feeling his gaze on her.

"Why?"

"You are making me conscious." Gauri said blushing while stealing glances of him.

"My wife! I will stare." Omkara said smirking.

Gauri looked at him in amusement.

"What, wifey?" Omkara asked grinning.

Gauri shook her head smiling before proceeding with her work.

"Do you remember the last time we were in this kitchen?" Omkara asked her.

Gauri thought for a while before looking at him.

"It was 6 months back, right? When I heated up the dinner for you. Before the day I left from here." Gauri said in amusement realising even though she used to visit his house often, she never really came to the kitchen after that incident.

"Then, you were my supposed fiancèe and now you are officially my wife." Omkara said smiling.

"We have come a long way." Gauri said smiling while pouring the coffee into two cups.

"We have a long long way to go too. Till eternity." Omkara said grinning.

Gauri chuckled while forwarding one of the cups to him.

They had their coffee while talking to each other about anything and everything.

"I'm a little confused. What should I make for the pehli rasoi ritual? Mumma told me I should prepare something sweet." Gauri told him while washing the cups.

"Urm, halwa maybe? No, kheer would be better I think. On a side note, it's you who is going to make it. Whichever you feel easy, you can make it. No one is going to say anything bad if you prepare something that you like." Omkara told her.

"I know that but still.... You tell me, what do you like the most?" Gauri asked looking at him.

"You." Omkara replied grinning.

Gauri turned pink hearing that.

"Not that. I'm talking about something sweet. Any particular dessert?"

"That is also you." Omkara replied with a playful smirk.

Gauri stopped in shock hearing that and blushed furiously.

"Be serious!" She told her husband.

"I'm saying the truth only." Omkara said walking towards her.

Gauri's eyes widened in shock when he trapped her between the kitchen slab and he himself.

"Om, wha...what are you doing? We are in the ki...kitchen." Gauri stammered while saying it.

"So what? You are my wife and I'm your husband." Omkara whispered near her ear.

Gauri closed her eyes feeling his hot breath.

"Someone will see." She said while breathing heavily.

"Let them see." Omkara replied placing kisses on her cheek.

Gauri clutched his shirt feeling weak on her knees.

With his one hand cupping her neck and other going around her waist, Omkara pulled his wife closer to him.

Gauri softly gasped feeling his cold fingers caressing her bare waist.

"Open your eyes." Omkara said staring at her face.

Gauri shook her head in no feeling shy.

Omkara softly blew air on her face making her flutter open her eyes.

"Should I stop?" He asked.

Gauri nodded her head in yes.

"But your actions are saying the opposite." He whispered while smiling.

Gauri was confused for a few seconds before she noticed her palms which were tightly clutching his shirt keeping him close to her.

Omkara smirked lightly seeing her shocked face.

Gauri looked up at him but her heartbeat started escalating seeing him coming close to her with his gaze on her lips.

Omkara had every intention to kiss her senselessly seeing her eyes closing in submission, when suddenly they heard someone clearing their throat.

Both of them jerked away from each other and stopped in embarassment seeing Tej standing at the kitchen entrance with his gaze somewhere else.

"I just came to drink some water." Tej told them before moving towards the refrigerator.

"Dad, I can make tea for you." Gauri said quickly.

"It's okay, beta. I will have it along with breakfast. I usually have green tea or just water after yoga." Tej told her smiling.

"Then I can make green tea for you." Gauri said.

Tej took the water bottle from the refrigerator and went to his daughter-in-law.

"It's okay." Tej said patting her head smiling before walking out of the kitchen.

Omkara sighed in relief seeing his father leaving and turned to his wife.

"How will I face him now?" Gauri asked him pouting.

"Just the way you used to do." Omkara told her as a matter of fact.

"Are you not feeling embarassed?" Gauri asked him shocked.

"I'm. You don't want your parents to see you in such an intimate moment with your wife. But that is okay. We just got married two days back and I know my father, he will understand. He will forget it very soon." Omkara told her.

Seeing her still stressed out, Omkara sighed and then held her shoulders.

"Gauri, we were not doing something wrong. I agree the place was not appropriate but that is okay. We are husband and wife, right? It is common between a couple-"

"I know all of that, Om. I'm not talking about that. It's just that, I'm feeling shy." Gauri said looking down.

Omkara's lips twitched into a smile hearing that. Awwe!

"You put yourself in my shoes. What if it was my father who caught us like this?" Gauri asked him.

"I would never want that to happen." Omkara replied nervously.

"See!" Gauri exclaimed.

Omkara sighed.

"You just forget it, okay? I don't think Dad is someone who teases for something like this. I'm just glad it was not Mom. Or else she would have teased us mercilessly." Omkara said while shuddering imagining the situation.

Gauri nodded her head sighing.

"What's next?"

"You can go." Gauri said.

"What?" Omkara asked confused.

"What, what? I'm going to prepare kheer and I don't want any distractions." Gauri said in finality.

"So you agree that I affect you a lot?" Omkara asked grinning.

Gauri gave him a pointed look.

"Okay, okay! I surrender. But you might need some help with getting the required things." Omkara said, testing his luck once more.

Gauri mockingly smiled at him.

"Mr Husband, if you have forgotten then let me remind you. I have stayed in this house before marriage too. I have been to this kitchen before, so I know where the things are kept. Even if I fail to find something, I will ask Mom or one of the helpers." Gauri told her husband.

Omkara sighed in disappointment before leaving the kitchen.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

"You don't need to wake up this early from tomorrow. If I had known you were going to wake up this early in the morning, I would have done the same too." Jhanvi told her daughter-in-law.

Gauri smiled at her hearing that.

"She doesn't need your company, Jhanvi. Your son is there for that." Tej said while coming to the dining area.

Gauri looked down feeling embarassed.

Tej and Jhanvi smiled at each other seeing that.

"Good morning everyone." Rudra wished everyone entering the dining room.

Gauri smiled seeing him.

"Good morning, bhabhi." Rudra said while side hugging her tightly.

"Good morning, Rudy." Gauri wished him back while patting his cheek.

Rudra went to his seat and sat down.

"Special good morning for bhabhi only? Not for your parents?" Jhanvi asked while sitting down.

"Yeah, because my bhabhi is special." Rudra replied.

Everyone chuckled hearing that.

"Gauri beta, where is Om?" Jhanvi asked.

"Let me go and see." Gauri said as she walked out.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Gauri walked into their bedroom only to see her husband busy with a call.

Omkara was pacing back and forth in the room when he suddenly noticed his wife standing at the door. He gestured her to come near him.

Gauri walked towards him and seeing him raise his eyebrows in question, she discreetly told him that everyone was waiting for him to have their breakfast.

Omkara, using his fingers, gestured that he will come soon.

"Yes, Mr Malhotra, absolutely. My father says the same. We should schedule a meeting soon." Omkara said.

Even after few minutes, when he wasn't able to wind up the call and seeing Gauri still waiting for him very patiently, Omkara held her hand and pulled her closer to him.

Gauri smiled feeling one of his arms going around her waist as she moved towards him. He held her close to him for a while before her smile widened feeling him place a loving kiss on her forehead.

"You go. I will come quickly." Omkara gestured.

"I will wait for you there. Come soon, okay?" Gauri whispered.

Omkara smiled nodding his head.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

"Where is he, Gauri?" Jhanvi asked seeing her coming alone.

"Mom, he is attending an important call. He'll come soon." Gauri told her.

"This boy! I told him to take a break from work atleast for a few days. I thought atleast you wouldn't support him in this, Gauri." Jhanvi said disappointedly.

"Mom-"

"If not me then who will she support, Mom? My wife will always support me." Omkara said walking into the dining room.

"I'm gonna fire you from office sooner or later." Jhanvi declared.

Omkara rolled his eyes hearing that as he sat down.

Seeing Gauri still standing, he pulled the chair beside him and gestured her to sit.

"Sit down, dear. Servants are there to serve the breakfast." Daadi said seeing her hesitation.

Gauri complied and sat beside her husband.

After everyone had their breakfast, they tasted the kheer prepared by Gauri and appreciated her, also with some gifts.

Gauri smiled happily hearing the compliments and then turned to her husband.

Omkara showed her the empty bowl winking at her.

Gauri chuckled softly seeing that.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Gauri was getting ready to go to her house for the pag phera ceremony. Her father would be coming soon to pick her up.

She gasped in surprise feeling her husband hugging her from behind.

Omkara closed his eyes sniffing in her fragrance and kept his chin on her shoulder.

"I will miss you."

Gauri smiled hearing that and kept her hand above his hands which were holding her close to him.

"I'm not even staying there for one day." Gauri reminded him.

"Still I will miss you." Omkara whispered.

"Are you getting obsessed with me, Mr Oberoi?" Gauri asked him teasingly.

Omkara opened his eyes and brought his lips close to her ear.

"If you say so, Mrs Oberoi. Because I can't seem to control myself nowadays." Omkara whispered hotly near her ear.

Gauri's heartbeat fastened hearing that and looked down feeling shy.

"O! Bhabhi! Vishaal uncle is here." Rudra screamed from downstairs.

Omkara broke the hug hearing that and turned her around.

"I will come and pick you up in the evening. Take care, okay?" Omkara said.

Gauri nodded and said, " You too. Take care."

Omkara smiled leaning down and kissed her cheek.

Gauri pulled his face down a little and kissed his forehead lovingly.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Gauri smiled excitedly seeing his car driving in. She quickly ran down the stairs and went near him.

By the time she reached, Omkara was out of the car and as soon as he saw her, he enveloped her into a bear hug.

"Sorry for being late." Omkara apologized after parting from the hug.

"No worries. Come inside. Everyone is busy preparing a feast for you." Gauri said holding his hand.

"Feast? It was not necessary-"

"It's the first time their son-in-law is visiting their house after marriage and what else do you expect?" Gauri asked while getting inside the house along with him.

Omkara smiled while shaking his head hearing that.

"Gauri, I told you to call me when he comes." Vishaal said coming out of the kitchen while removing the apron.

"He just came now, Papa." Gauri said rolling her eyes.

Omkara smiled as his father-in-law hugged him.

Soon other family members also joined them. Everyone had their dinner while mainly focussing on filling their son-in-law's stomach.

"Oh my God! I'm so full." Omkara sighed while lying on the bed in her bedroom.

Gauri chuckled seeing him rub his stomach.

"I think I had my quota of food for the next two weeks. I don't need to eat at all anymore." Omkara said.

Gauri smiled and lied on the bed beside him, with her head supported by one of her elbows.

Omkara turned to look at her and saw her staring at him with a smile.

"Stop looking at me like that." Omkara warned her.

"Why?" Gauri asked curiously.

Gauri gasped when he suddenly shifted and hovered over her.

"I won't be able to control myself then." Omkara replied before leaning down taking her lips into a soulful kiss.

Gauri smiled into the kiss as her arms went around his neck.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Omkara turned to his wife, who was looking out of the car's window. He knew she was feeling upset about leaving her family again.

Omkara stopped the car due to the traffic and it was raining heavily too. Hearing Chahun Main Ya Naa playing in the radio, he turned up the volume.

Aaisi kabhi pehle

Never before I've had

Hui na thi khwaishen...

Wishes like these

Gauri turned her head hearing him singing along.

Omkara smiled at her as he sang the next few lines.

Kisi se bhi milne

To meet someone else

Ki na ki thi koshishen

I had never made an effort

Uljhan meri sujha de

Solve my problems

Chahun main ya na

Should I love you or not

Gauri started smiling happily seeing him looking at her so lovingly while singing those lines.

Aankhon aankhon mein jata de

Tell me with your eyes

Chahun main ya na

Should I love you or not

Omkara leaned towards her and placed a long kiss on her cheek.

Gauri smiled while feeling the kiss and kept her palm on his cheek. She softly started caressing his cheek as their eyes locked.

Feeling as if her heart would burst with the love for him, Gauri leaned forward and hugged him tightly.

Omkara smiled hugging her back while feeling glad that he was able to shift her mood into a happier one.
