DAY 2 : HALDI AND SANGEET

Morning

HALDI CEREMONY

Gauri looked at herself in the mirror after she put on the earrings. She took the waist chain and tried hooking it around her.

"AVANTHI! BHAVYA!" She called out to her sisters.

Gauri sighed feeling tired.

"Where did these girls go? Usually they always stick around me and now when I actually need their help, none can be seen."

Gauri again tried hooking it around her waist. She stopped when she felt someone's presence behind her. She knew who it was.

Gauri slowly looked up in the mirror only to see Omkara standing so close behind her.

"May I?" Omkara asked staring into her eyes through the mirror.

Gauri slowly nodded her head.

Omkara took the waist chain from her hands and brought it around her.

Gauri closed her eyes when his fingers accidentally brushed against her waist.

Omkara took in a deep breath as he tried to control himself and quickly hooked the chain.

"Done."

Gauri opened her eyes hearing that.

Omkara smiled at her and wrapped his arms around her. He kept his chin on her shoulder taking her into a back hug.

Gauri smiled as she looked at their reflection in the mirror.

"Our parents' decision wasn't wrong. Such a good looking couple we are!" Omkara said smiling.

Gauri was dressed in a pretty yellow and white embroidered lehenga. Her hair was loosely braided and adorned with flowers. While Omkara was dressed in a yellow coloured kurta set which matched with her lehenga.

"Self praising, are we?" Gauri asked teasingly.

"I'm telling the truth only."

Gauri giggled hearing that.

Omkara was smiling when he noticed the bracelet on her wrist which he had gifted to her. He held her hand and raised it up in front of their eyes.

"I noticed that you are always wearing this bracelet. Did you like it so much?" Omkara asked.

Gauri nodded her head.

"It was your first gift to me as well." She said smiling.

Omkara looked at her hearing that and smiled happily.

Gauri's heart skipped a beat when he brought her hand close to his lips and placed a soft kiss.

Omkara smirked when he saw her blushing.

Gauri slowly looked up and their eyes locked as everything blurred around them. She could feel the rhythmic beating of his heart against her back.

They were so lost in each other that they didn't hear the door opening.

"Aaah!" Omkara winced in pain when someone pinched his ear.

Gauri quickly moved away from him and her eyes widened seeing Daadi holding his ear.

"Didn't I tell you to stay away from her till wedding?" Daadi asked her grandson.

"Daadi, it's painful. Leave me please." Omkara requested holding his ear.

Omkara sighed in relief when she left his ear.

"Go from here before I hold your other ear." Daadi warned him.

Omkara looked at Gauri who was looking at him sympathetically.

"Om!" Daadi called him in a warning tone.

"I'm going, Daadi."

Omkara slowly walked past Daadi stealing glances of his bride. Since Daadi's back was facing him, Omkara winked at Gauri before moving out of the room.

Gauri blushed seeing that.

"I don't know why Daadi insists that I should stay away from you when we have to be together for all the rituals." Omkara said.

The groom and bride were seated next to each other ready for their haldi ceremony.

"It's their belief. The bride and groom shouldn't see each other before wedding." Gauri told him.

"I'm seeing you now." Omkara pointed out.

"Till Sangeet only. After that we won't be allowed to see each other till wedding. It's considered a bad omen." Gauri cleared to him.

Omkara nodded.

"Shivaay bhaiyya did an amazing job, right? The decorations are too good." Gauri said smiling.

"Yeah!" Omkara agreed looking around.

Soon the function started as the family members came forward to apply haldi on the bride and groom.

Rudra came forward to apply haldi on his brother. Initially he applied the haldi on his cheek, hands and legs but then smeared it all over his face making everyone laugh.

Omkara glared at his brother and then turned to his bride who was also laughing at him.

Gauri bit her lips trying to control her laugh when he looked at her.

"Why didn't you apply it on her face like you did on me?" Omkara asked his brother.

"Because I'm in my bhabhi's team. Team Bhabhi-Devar." Rudra replied side-hugging Gauri.

Gauri grinned as she pulled her brother-in-law's cheek.

Omkara shook his head sighing.

Rudra stumbled forward when someone pushed him from back.

Gauri closed her eyes tightly when Bhavya applied the haldi all over her face.

"Jeeju, you don't worry. I'm in your team. Team Jeeju-Saali." Bhavya said.

Rudra gaped at Bhavya who was smirking at him.

"Thanks, Bhavya." Omkara said grinning as he cheekily looked at his bride who was pouting at him.

After all the fun, the ceremony ended and everyone returned to their respective rooms to rest for a while before the next function started.

Gauri entered her room and turned around after closing the door. She gasped seeing Omkara in the room and kept her hand over her rapidly beating heart.

"You scared me!" Gauri said sighing.

"Sorry." Omkara said smiling.

"Why are you here? Mom told us to take a bath, right?" She asked.

"Yeah! But before that there is something that should be taken care of." Omkara said walking towards her, his gaze fixed on her.

"Wh...what?" Gauri asked nervously as she moved backwards.

"You were laughing at me along with others?" Omkara asked walking.

"That... I didn't... I just-"

Gauri gasped when her back hit the door.

Omkara smirked seeing that and quickly placed his hands on both sides of her on the door, trapping her.

"It's okay. Let's leave it. But we forgot one more thing. We didn't apply haldi on each other yet." Omkara said smiling.

"Should we apply haldi on each other too?" Gauri asked confused.

"Why shouldn't we?"

"Why didn't you tell about this earlier in the garden?" Gauri asked.

Omkara shrugged his shoulders.

"But now where will we get haldi from? You should have told earlier." Gauri asked.

"I have an idea."

Gauri raised her eyebrows at him.

Omkara slowly leaned forward and rubbed his cheek against hers, transferring the haldi on their cheeks to each other. Gauri closed her eyes feeling his hot breath against her neck. He did the same on her other cheek too.

"Gauri." Omkara called against her ear.

"Hmm." Gauri replied in a daze.

"How is it?" Omkara asked.

"Huh?" Gauri asked feeling disoriented.

Omkara smirked seeing his effect on her. He leaned back and slowly blew air on her face.

Gauri opened her eyes and stared into his eyes.

"I don't think I need to ask again. I can clearly see how much you liked my idea." Omkara said with a teasing smile.

Gauri blushed feeling shy and looked down.

Omkara kept his finger on her chin and moved her face up, making her look at him.

Gauri gulped noticing his gaze on her lips before it came back to her eyes.

"Can I kiss you?" Omkara asked her feeling a little nervous.

Gauri's heart skipped several beats hearing that.

"Hmm?" Omkara asked again tilting his head a bit so as to see her face, when she looked down.

Omkara smiled when she slowly nodded her head blushing.

He slowly leaned his face close to her and placed a soft kiss on the side of her lips.

Gauri sharply sucked in a breath closing her eyes when he kissed the other side of her lips.

Omkara lightly kissed her on her lips and moved away before he again did the same, liking the feeling of her lips against his.

Feeling her kissing him back lightly, Omkara was about to take her lips into a proper kiss when a knock sounded on the door.

"Gauri!" Anjali called knocking on the door.

Omkara groaned in frustration at the interruption leaning his forehead against hers.

Gauri chuckled softly opening her eyes.

"Gauri! Have you changed? Do you need any help?" Anjali asked from outside the room.

"No, Mumma. It's okay. I'm about to go take a shower." Gauri replied.

"Okay! I will ask Bhavya or Avanthi to come here to help you." Anjali said before she left.

Omkara was about to kiss her again when she placed her palm above his mouth stopping him.

"No. Avanthi or Bhavya might come now and if they see you here, you know what will happen." Gauri said.

"You are right!" Omkara replied sighing as he moved away from her. He was not interested for a teasing session from his sister-in-laws.

"I will see you later then." Omkara said smiling and opened the door.

Gauri blushed when he winked at her before going from there.

SANGEET

Omkara and Gauri were seated next to each other as they enjoyed watching the performance of their friends and family.

Shivaay and Anika who became friends while planning their wedding were currently performing on the stage.

Gauri and Omkara were cheering for them when Rudra came there and whispered something to Omkara.

Omkara nodded his head before his brother walked away. He turned to Gauri who was looking at him with curiosity.

"I'll come now."

"What happened?" Gauri asked.

"Nothing. I'll come soon." Omkara replied.

Gauri nodded at him.

Few minutes later, Shivaay's and Anika's performance ended and everyone clapped their hands.

Rudra came to the stage and appreciated their wonderful performance.

"Now, it's time for something special. Never in my wildest dreams had I thought, one day I would witness my brother perform on stage. But today it's going to happen and I can assure you this wouldn't have happened if not for my darling bhabhi. Bhabhi, this one is for you from my dearest brother. Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for tonight's most special performance from our groom." Rudra said before leaving the stage.

Gauri watched in surprise as everyone clapped their hands.

Gauri became shocked as Avanthika, Bhavya, Rudra, Anika, Shivaay along with Abhiraj, who is Anika's younger brother, came to the stage for the performance.

When did they even plan all this without her knowledge? Gauri thought to herself.

As the intro music started playing, Gauri looked for Omkara on the stage as others danced to the music.

Gauri smiled seeing him coming to the centre of the stage while singing the song, his gaze resting only on her.

Gauri felt overwhelmed as he slowly danced to the song along with others.

Omkara sang looking at her while moving to the music, meaning each and every single word.

Gauri's eyes started tearing up seeing the genuine feelings in his eyes while singing the song. He was singing it only for her.

Aa ha ha ... aa ha ha ... aa o o o

As the background music started playing, Omkara came down the stage and walked towards his bride.

Omkara forwarded his hand towards her smiling.

Gauri smiled happily as she tried to control her tears and took his hand standing up.

Omkara took her to the stage and twirled her around few times before pulling her back into his arms.

Meri hoke hamesha hi rehna

(Always be mine)

Kabhi na kehna alvida.

(Never say goodbye)

He sang holding one of her hands in his and went on his knees before bringing out a rose from his pocket.

As Omkara forwarded the rose to her everyone started hooting and clapping.

Gauri covered her mouth using her palm trying to control the tears that were threatening to escape her eyes.

Omkara shook his head with a smile asking her not to cry and gestured her to accept the rose.

Gauri smiled happily and accepted the rose from him.

Omkara stood up straight and then hugged her when she looked like she would cry soon.

Gauri hugged him back tightly as she started sobbing. Never in her entire life had she thought someone would do something special like this for her.

"Shhhh.... Stop crying, sweetheart. I did this to make you happy and you are crying now." Omkara whispered into her ear.

"Thank you. Thank you so much for this. I don't know how to let you know how much happy I'm feeling right now because of you." Gauri whispered against his chest.

"Just stop crying and show me that beautiful smile of yours and I'll get to know from that." Omkara said as he wiped her tears using his thumb fingers.

Gauri chuckled hearing that and smiled at him parting from the hug.

Omkara smiled seeing that and then took the mike from his brother when everyone clapped their hands.

"Thank you, everyone. But I would like to say that this was just a trailer, picture abhi baaki hai mere dost." Omkara said grinning.

Everyone hooted and clapped hearing that.

Omkara held his bride's hand, who was looking at him surprised.

"As you all know, our's is completely an arranged marriage which was suggested by our dear parents. But in these six months, by spending time with each other and getting to know each other, we actually forgot that it's an arranged marriage. It felt like we were dating for a few months, then engagement and now marriage. It feels so surreal and if you ask me, I will give the whole credits to this person standing beside me." Omkara said raising her hand.

Gauri was looking at him surprised.

"My Mom says that after Gauri came into my life, I have changed for good. I don't know if I have changed or not, but I can say for sure that I started living my life after she came. I'm so lucky to have her by my side, and I can't wait to create many more beautiful memories together, with her."

Jhanvi wiped the happy tears that escaped her eyes on hearing her son.

Tej wrapped his arm around his wife as he smiled proudly.

"I know it's too late for this, but still I want to give her a proper marriage proposal. Don't you guys think she deserves this?" Omkara asked.

Everyone chorused in agreement and then hooted when he went on his knees again.

"What are you doing?" Gauri asked him in shock.

Omkara smiled at her.

"From the moment we met, I had this feeling within myself that there was something special about you. Even before our parents planned our marriage, I used to feel a special connection with you. Then we started getting to know more about each other and slowly it became impossible for me to stop thinking about you. I felt the happiest even doing the most random things with you. You have become such a comfort space for me that I can rely on you anytime when it becomes difficult for me to cope up alone."

"With you, I've discovered the true meaning of happiness. You made me feel all those things which no could ever do. Every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure. You made my life so beautiful that I know my life will never be complete without you beside me to share it. In your eyes, I see my future, filled with love, laughter, and endless possibilities. I can't explain it, but I just know that you're the one for me."

Gauri watched him with a quivering smile.

"I can't wait for that day when at the end of the day I can come home to you and hear about how your day went. You're the person I want to tell how my day went. You're the person I want to share my happiness, sadness frustration, and success. I know this isn't perfect, but nothing in life is perfect. But I promise to love and cherish you for the rest of our lives. Will you make me the happiest by agreeing to marry me, Gauri?" Omkara asked her smiling.

Gauri felt as if her heart would explode at that moment. The tears which she was trying so hard to control, started flowing from her eyes.

The guests cheered for her to say yes.

"Gauri, I don't think there is any need to rethink about this. Tomorrow is our marriage, so if you could reply faster then it would have been nice." Omkara said cheekily trying to tease her.

Gauri chuckled hearing that and then vigorously nodded her head.

"Yes!" Gauri said smiling widely.

Omkara's eyes turned misty hearing that and then he stood up. He moved forward and pulled her into a warm hug.

Gauri hugged him tightly trying to convey her feelings. Even she wanted to tell him so many things but this was not the time. It was his moment and she wanted to cherish it completely.

Anjali smiled with tears of happiness and leaned onto her husband's shoulder as she watched her daughter and son-in-law.

"I told you I will get her a perfect man." Vishaal said patting her head gently.

Anjali nodded her head smiling happily.
