CHAPTER 16
Omkara watched his fiancée pacing to and fro across the room. Seeing her nervously biting her nails, he sighed before moving towards her and stopped her by holding her shoulders.
"Gauri, what's the issue?" He asked her.
Gauri sighed looking at him.
"I don't know. I'm excited, actually very excited. That finally my dreams are coming true but at the same time I'm feeling nervous too. What if I mess up? I don't want to embarrass you all." Gauri said worriedly.
Omkara smiled hearing her. He could understand her because even he went through this phase few years back when he first started his own business.
"Gauri, I can understand you. But you don't have to worry. Everything went well till now, so don't take tension about what will happen next. Even if something happens, then we all are here, right? You just remember that today is the day that you have been waiting for. Give your best and I know your capability. You are gonna rock it." Omkara told her confidently.
Gauri nodded her feeling a bit relieved.
Omkara cupped her face in his palms and said, "Just put on that beautiful smile on your face and be my Gauri. Rest assured."
Gauri smiled happily hearing that and hugged him.
"Thank you." She said.
Omkara kissed on top of her head in reply.

Omkara smiled shaking hands with the person he was talking before turning to look at Gauri.
She was simply worrying. He thought with a chuckle seeing the efficiency with which she was interacting with the business associates.
Omkara looked away for a moment and that was when he noticed Avanthika sitting at a corner watching everything silently.
He frowned before walking towards her.
"Mind if I give you company?" He asked sitting beside her.
"Jeeju!" Avanthika said smiling.
"Why are you sitting here alone? Where is Rudy?"
Avanthika grinned before pointing at something behind him.
Omkara turned around curiously only to see Rudra and Bhavya talking sitting at another table.
"They left you alone?" He asked frowning.
Avanthika shook her head.
"I was sitting with them only. Came here a few minutes back. I just wanted some alone time."
"Am I disturbing you?" Omkara asked.
"No, jeeju." She said smiling.
"So, you like sitting alone?"
"Not exactly. Sometimes I like sitting alone and watch everything that is happening around. And I was watching how happy my sister is looking. Evil eyes off!"
Omkara smiled seeing her love for her sister.
"Thank you, jeeju. Even if you hadn't come to her life, she might have launched her boutique. But if I'm seeing di this much happy and glowing today, then it's only because of you." Avanthika said smiling.
"I didn't do anything, Avanthi. It was all her's and Papa's hardwork."
"I know. But I'm not talking about the boutique. I'm talking about the feelings and emotions. If she hadn't moved on from her past, then I don't think she would have enjoyed everything and felt truly happy on achieving her dream. Your presence and support means a lot to her."
Omkara smiled feeling happy hearing her.
"Time up. Now I need to get back." Avanthika said grinning.
Omkara smiled and watched her going towards Rudra and Bhavya.
Omkara stood up seeing Dandi, his personal assistant, hurrying towards him.
"Boss, Mr Malhotra will be reaching soon." Dandi told him.
Omkara nodded before moving out of the hall towards the entrance.

Gauri was looking around for Omkara when she saw him heading towards her with someone.
Gauri smiled at them.
"Mr Malhotra, this is Gauri Sharma, my fiancée as well as Mr Vishaal Sharma's daughter." Omkara introduced her.
"And Gauri, this is-"
"Mr Rakesh Malhotra. Who doesn't know him? Welcome and thank you for coming, Mr Malhotra." Gauri said smiling. Rakesh Malhotra was one of the most famous businessmen.
Rakesh smiled getting impressed while Omkara smiled proudly.
"I hope you haven't heard anything bad about me."
Gauri smiled shaking her head in no.
"Gauri, remember you showing me your ethnic wear collection? Mr Malhotra would like to see that." Omkara told her.
"That's great. I would only be happy to show them to you." Gauri said smiling.
"Before that, I hope you realise that I will agree to export your designs only if I really like them. Even though I know both the Sharmas and Oberois really well, there will not be any special consideration. I hope it's not an issue for you, Ms Sharma." Rakesh said.
"I understand, Mr Malhotra." Gauri said.
"And I can promise you that you won't be disappointed with her designs." Omkara said.
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
"What did he tell?" Avanthika asked seeing her sister nervously looking at the direction where Rakesh Malhotra was talking with Vishaal and Omkara.
"He didn't tell me anything."
"What was his reaction when he saw your designs?"
"I don't know, Avanthi. I was too tensed to notice that." Gauri replied.
Avanthika sighed.
"Don't worry, di. He might have liked your designs."
"I really hope so. If he agrees to export my designs then it would be a great start for me, Avanthi. And I don't want to disappoint Papa and Om too." Gauri said sighing.
"He is leaving." Gauri whispered seeing her father and fiancé escorting him outside.
Gauri sighed sadly realising she failed.
"Avanthi, I will come now."
Avanthika worriedly watched her sister going to the balcony.
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
Gauri was sadly standing in the balcony, when Omkara came there.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Omkara asked coming towards her.
Gauri turned around hearing him.
Seeing her upset, Omkara frowned.
"What happened?" He asked.
"I'm sorry." She said sadly.
"Sorry? But why?" He asked confused.
"I didn't want to embarrass you and Papa infront of Mr Malhotra. But I failed, I'm sorry. I should have been more careful." Gauri said looking down.
Omkara sighed in realisation before moving towards her and cupped her face in his palms.
"What will I do with you, Gauri?" Omkara asked smiling.
Gauri looked at him sadly as tears started filling her eyes.
"No, no. No crying." Omkara said quickly.
Gauri hugged him hearing that.
"Why are you even crying after making us all proud?" He asked her.
"What do you mean?" She asked confused.
"I meant, after impressing Mr Malhotra with your designs making our family feel so proud about you, why are you crying?" He asked smiling.
"What? He liked my designs?" Gauri asked shocked, leaning back a little to look at his face.
"Of course. He liked them so much that he is willing to meet you again tomorrow for discussing the deal." Omkara said smiling proudly.
"But he went back without talking to me. I thought..."
"He left due to some personal emergency. He said he would meet you tomorrow."
"Are you really saying the truth?" Gauri asked still in shock.
"Yes, sweetheart." Omkara said lovingly.
Gauri smiled happily as tears started filling her eyes again.
"Now, why are you crying again?" He asked sighing.
"They are happy tears." She said smiling.
Omkara smiled leaning down and kissed her on forehead.
"Congrats. You got a great start." He said smiling, feeling happy for her.
"All thanks to you."
"Huh? What did I do?"
"You brought Mr Malhotra here." She said.
"Yeah but he agreed for the deal because he liked your designs. If he hadn't liked them then he wouldn't have agreed. So it's all your hardwork." Omkara said.
"But if not for you, then he wouldn't have even come here today, Om." Gauri argued.
"Even your father knows him. If not me, then he would have-"
"But he didn't and you did."
"Gauri-"
"Sshhhhhh. That's enough." Gauri said keeping her index finger on his lips.
Omkara stopped and looked at her finger on his lips.
Gauri blushed realising what she did and withdrew her finger seeing him look at her.
Omkara chuckled seeing her blush before he leaned his face towards her rubbing their noses together.
Gauri chuckled shyly.
"Ahem!"
Both of them abruptly pulled away from each other hearing that.
Gauri turned pink in embarassment whereas Omkara looked away closing his eyes seeing his mother.
"Gauri, your Papa is asking for you." Jhanvi said with a teasing smile.
Gauri quickly nodded her head and escaped from there.
Jhanvi chuckled seeing that.
Slowly she moved towards her son, who was avoiding her eyes, and cleared her throat.
"I'm happy realising that, the decision of getting you married was the most right decision I have ever made in a while." Jhanvi said smirking.
Omkara looked at his mother and saw her teasingly smiling.
"Mom, I have something important to take care of. Will see you later." Omkara quickly escaped from there.
Jhanvi laughed seeing that.
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
"Hey, Gauri. Did you reach there?" Omkara asked as soon as he received her call.
"Yeah! I reached few minutes back. When are you coming?" She asked him.
"On my way. I'll be reaching within half an hour."
"Oh okay. Come soon, but drive carefully." Gauri told him.
"Okay, darling. Can't wait to see you." Omkara said smiling.
Gauri chuckled with a blush hearing that.
As both of them were busy with their work, they didn't get any chance to meet each other for the last few days. Gauri's friends from college wanted to give her a bachelorette party. They also wanted to meet Omkara as they didn't get much chances to interact with him. Finally today the bachelorette party was happening and both Omkara and Gauri decided to use this opportunity to meet each other. Hence they were excited.
"Okay bye, I should go now." She said smiling.
"See you soon, bye."
Gauri turned around smiling and stopped seeing Yadav staring at her from the bar section. She ignored him and went towards the rest of her friends.
Later, she was about to excuse herself from there to wait for Omkara outside when Yadav came near her.
"Gauri." Yadav slurred.
Gauri stopped with a frown.
"Are you drunk?"
"Not yet. But I'm going to get drunk." He said smiling.
Gauri sighed realising he was already drunk.
"You wanna know why do I want to get drunk?" He asked.
Gauri ignored him and looked around for any of her guy friends who could handle him.
"What a fate, right? Getting drunk at the bachelorette party of your ex-girlfriend, drowning in the pain of your lost love. Don't you miss it all, Gauri?" Yadav asked in despair.
Gauri looked at him angrily.
"Love? Where did love come from? Let alone love, you didn't even consider me as a friend, Yadav. Stop saying whatever that comes to your mind without actually knowing anything." Gauri said angrily.
"What's the issue guys?" Raj, one of their friends, asked coming towards them.
"He is drunk. Please take him away." Gauri told her friend.
"I'm not drunk." Yadav slurred.
"Why did you drink so much, bro? Come with me." Raj said moving towards him.
"NO, don't touch me. I want to get drunk because I'm not like her." He said in a loud voice pointing towards Gauri.
"Unlike her, I'm not able to move on. How could she forget everything so easily? How could she decide to marry someone else? HOW?" Yadav shouted.
"What are you saying, Yadav? Gauri, what is this?" Raj asked in shock.
By then, their all other friends too had come there.
"Oops, sorry. You guys actually don't know anything about us right? But don't worry. I'm going to tell you all everything." Yadav said smiling drunkenly.
Everyone curiously looked at him and Gauri.
"This Gauri Sharma, who is the bride-to-be was my girlfriend once. You all have seen how we were, right? Even though you guys thought we were just best friends, still you have seen what we had in between. But she forgot all that and is now getting married to someone else." Yadav said sadly.
"I don't think Gauri would do something like this without any reason. You must have done something unforgivable." One of their friends said.
"I did one small mistake which caused our breakup. But just because of that how could she forget everything?" Yadav argued.
Gauri's control slipped on hearing that. She went towards him and slapped him hard on his face.
Everyone gasped.
"Small mistake?! You call that a small mistake? Breaking up with me giving the reason that I looked fat, sleeping with other woman behind my back, continuously lying to me, emotionally blackmailing me, taking advantage of my feelings, you call all these a SMALL MISTAKE?" Gauri asked him with furious tears.
Everyone watched in shock at the new information. When Gauri had left their college she had given the reason that it is due to some personal issues. They had assumed it to be something related to her family, but this was unexpected. They didn't even know that she had a history with Yadav. And to think that Yadav would stoop so low was so disgusting.
"You slapped me? Me, Yadav Singhania? How dare you?" Yadav asked angrily charging towards her.
But he was stopped by Omkara, who was watching everything and grabbed his throat almost choking him.
"I have told you a number of times in a decent way to stay away from her. But if you are not ready to listen, then I have my own way to make you obey it." Omkara said infuriated, before slapping him left and right.
Grabbing the collar of his shirt, Omkara furiously plastered him against the wall, lifting him off the floor and threw punches on his face, again and again.
Yadav groaned in pain and felt the metallic taste of blood in his mouth.
Omkara let go off Yadav, who fell on the floor with a thud.
Gauri came out of her stupor hearing the painful cries of Yadav, who had fallen victim to the merciless thrashings of her fiancé.
She quickly hurried towards him and held his arm trying to stop him.
"Om, stop it. He will die." Gauri said worriedly.
"He should die." Omkara said furiously kicking him again.
Gauri sighed in tension. She was not worried about Yadav but if something happens to him then all blame would come up on Om. And she knew if she doesn't stop him now, then something unpleasant might happen.
Gauri turned to Raj and gestured him to take care of Yadav. She quickly stood in between them and hugged him with all her might pushing him away from Yadav.
Feeling him struggling against her, Gauri tightened her grip around him.
"Om, stop it please." Gauri pleaded him as she whimpered.
Omkara stopped hearing that. He closed his eyes taking long breaths to calm himself down.
Gauri stopped him in worry, when she felt him move away from her.
Omkara looked at her and blinked his eyes in assurance before going towards Yadav.
Yadav, who was standing with the help of his friends, cowered back in fear seeing him.
Omkara stopped and glowered at him.
"Consider this as my final warning. If you dare to hurt her ever again, I will not spare you. You are alive just because she stopped me. But next time it won't be the same. If I say something, I will bloody keep up my word. You hurt my Gauri again, I will kill you." Omkara warned looking down at him.
Yadav gulped in fear seeing the seriousness in his eyes.
Omkara walked back to Gauri.
"Let's leave?" Omkara asked her in a calm voice.
Gauri nodded her head in yes.
Holding her hand, Omkara walked out of there.
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
Omkara stopped the car in an isolated place and got out of it. Seeing him get down, Gauri also came out of the car.
Gauri stood beside him leaning on the car staring at the scenery ahead.
"I'm sorry." He said turning to look at her.
"Don't be."
"Did I scare you?" He asked her softly.
"A little." Gauri confessed honestly.
"Sorry, Gauri. It was not my intention. I just couldn't control myself when I heard him talk all those shit about you." Omkara apologised holding her hand.
"It's okay. I can understand." Gauri said smiling.
Omkara smiled seeing her smile.
Climbing up on the bonnet of the car, Omkara lifted her off the ground and made her sit on his lap, with her back leaning against his chest.
Gauri blushed when she felt his chin on her shoulder and his arms around her.
They remained like that for a while before Gauri spoke.
"You know when you were thrashing him, the only worry I had in my mind was if something happens to him then you would land in trouble. Not even for a second I felt any kind of concern towards him. Does that make me a bad human being?" Gauri asked him gently.
"Of course no, baby. He hasn't done anything good for you to deserve your concern or care. Also he has done the worst things one can ever do making himself undeserving of humanity as well." Omkara told her.
Gauri sighed in relief hearing that.
"He doesn't matter to me anymore." Gauri said smiling.
"He doesn't." He agreed.
Gauri smiled and snuggled close to him.
"Shouldn't we go back home? Our parents might be waiting." Gauri said.
"I don't feel like leaving you." Omkara said pouting, before hugging her more tightly.
Gauri chuckled hearing that.
"Keep patience, Mister. Just few more days and I'll be yours forever." Gauri said smiling.
"I can't seem to wait for that moment when you will become mine forever." Omkara said kissing her temple.
Gauri blushed happily hearing that.
