Salvatore, looking dashing in his attire, leans against the wall with a casual grace. "Let me take you home," he says, his voice carrying a hint of warmth and sincerity.
Closing the door behind me, I catch sight of the movers unloading luggage at the neighboring house. "So, Mr. Salvatore didn't go to the company?" I tease, a playful smirk dancing on my lips.
He returns my jest with a smile, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm still on vacation after getting married," he explains, reaching out to offer assistance with my bag. "Such a comfortable CEO," I remark, a touch of teasing evident in my tone.
A/N: Salvy don't lie now!
As he takes hold of my tote bag, we step out onto the sidewalk together, heading towards the pharmacy. "Then it's because I'm the CEO," he quips in response to my comment.
"Ah, as an ordinary worker, seeing the shameless CEO like this is a bit annoying," I jest, one hand casually resting against my side.
His laughter fills the air, a rich and hearty sound that resonates with genuine joy. The tranquil road, typically a solitary journey to the pharmacy, now finds us walking side by side. It's an ordinary day, much like any other, yet the presence of Salvatore beside me imbues it with an unfamiliar sense of companionship, lending an air of novelty to the routine.
Dr. Lily's eyes flicker between Salvatore and me, curiosity dancing in their depths as she ponders our connection. As I step through the door, my cheeks tinged with a rosy hue of embarrassment, Lily greets me with a flustered but delighted expression.
"Dr. Lily, hello," I manage, my voice soft and tinged with bashfulness.
"Yes, yes," Lily responds, her words slightly breathless as she gazes at Salvatore. "Today, I came early," she adds, attempting to regain her composure.
Salvatore offers a gentle, almost mischievous smile in response, his charm evident even in his silence.
Leaning in close, Lily whispers in my ear, her voice laced with intrigue, "Seems like I've seen him somewhere many times... Is he someone you know or your boyfriend?"
Caught off guard, I chuckle nervously, only to feel Salvatore's reassuring grip on my shoulder. "I've heard this phrase many times, but I'm not her boyfriend," he interjects with a hint of amusement. "I am her husband," he declares firmly, his words carrying a sense of pride.
My smile widens at Salvatore's assertion, my heart fluttering with a mixture of emotions.
Lily's reaction is priceless; she claps a hand over her mouth, cheeks flushed with pink as she exclaims, "OMG! Come in and have a cup of coffee and then go. I got to know Dr. Valentina got married in such a short time, so I was very worried, but I didn't expect her husband to be so handsome," she says, her words tumbling out in a rush as she hands Salvatore a cup of coffee.
"Thanks," Salvatore replies graciously as he accepts the coffee, his presence adding a touch of warmth and charm to the room.
"How tall are you? Are you really not her boyfriend? What do you do for a living? Today is a weekday; why didn't you go to work today? Is your house nearby?" Dr. Lily fires off questions like rapid bullets, her curiosity palpable as Salvatore settles into the waiting chair.
"Dr. Lily," I interject, my tone gently chiding, silently pleading for her to ease up on the interrogation.
"I talk too much, right?" Lily says, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she glances at me for reassurance.
"It's okay. On the contrary, I'm glad that my wife can work with such a good colleague," Salvatore responds smoothly, his words dripping with charm and diplomacy.
I can't help but admire Salvatore's ability to handle the situation with grace and finesse. He effortlessly diffuses the tension with his disarming smile and impeccable manners, leaving me feeling grateful for his presence.
"You are really good with words, Salvy," I think to myself, a fond smile tugging at the corners of my lips as I watch him navigate the conversation with ease.
A/N: "Salvy" sounds like a sweet and endearing nickname! It adds a touch of affection to their dynamic. If you'd like to explore other options or have any preferences, feel free to let me know!
As Lily's curious gaze settled on Salvatore and me, the air seemed to hum with anticipation. "I also think Valentina is a special person," she remarked, her eyes flitting between us.
Salvatore's response was immediate, his voice warm with gratitude. "I am very grateful," he murmured, his eyes reflecting a depth of emotion.
"Speaking of it, how did you two meet?" Lily inquired, her interest piqued.
Salvatore's blush deepened, a hint of nostalgia coloring his features. "Valentina is my first love," he confessed softly, his gaze drifting to me. "At my grandfather's funeral, Valentina and her dad came. I was really impressed at that time."
His words hung in the air, the weight of their significance causing me to pause in my writing. This revelation unraveled a thread of the past I hadn't known existed.
"That was when Valentina was in high school," Salvatore continued, his tone tinged with reminiscence. "She was this tall then, and she had short hair."
With each word, the scene unfolded before me, a glimpse into a chapter of our lives I had yet to explore.
A/N: The day she argued with Mateo was the first day they met right?
In the hushed murmurs of adults, Salvatore's voice broke through, a warm resonance carrying his admiration for me. "There are things that are a bit inconvenient between adults, but with one word from Valentina, she silences everyone," he confessed. Then, echoing the sentiments of young Valentina, he spoke her words, imbuing them with a profound significance. "Someone died, everyone is afraid that the dead will be alone so you all wish to follow?" his voice carried the weight of memory, each syllable etched with the raw emotion of that moment.
Recalling the scene at the funeral, where both families erupted into violence, he described the intensity in my eyes and the power in my voice. "Her eyes and voice at that time, I clearly remember it," he confessed, his gaze drifting downward, fingers fidgeting with nervous energy. "I didn't know it was love at that time, no matter how much time passes, the girl I can't forget became special to me," he admitted, his vulnerability palpable in the air.
As he revealed his feelings, I found myself stunned into silence, unable to formulate a response. Then, the bell rang, signaling the interruption of the moment. "Come in," Lily called out to the patient, disrupting the fragile intimacy between us.
"I will leave first, Bella. I have work to do," Salvatore announced, breaking the spell of the moment. Confusion clouded my thoughts as I struggled to find words to respond, my mouth hanging open in surprise. But Salvatore, with his gentle smile and reassuring presence, leaned down to me, his eyes locking onto mine. "I will come pick you up later," he promised, his hand waving gently before he turned and departed.
As I stood in the present, the vivid memories of a past funeral flooded my mind, a scene etched with the somber hues of tragedy. Lily's voice broke through the reverie, drawing me back to the present moment.
"Come in," Lily's voice beckoned, punctuating the silence.
But in the recesses of my mind, I relived the chaos of that fateful day, a day stained with the blood of mafia conflict. "Take this medicine three times a day after meals," I recited mechanically, my voice betraying none of the turmoil within.
Because of a trivial dispute that amounted to nothing, tempers flared and words turned into weapons, escalating into a heated argument that ignited the flames of conflict. Finally, the simmering tension erupted into a bloody war, staining the solemnity of the funeral with the crimson hue of violence. The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood as crimson streams flowed freely, painting a grotesque tableau of carnage upon the floor.
Amidst the chaos, young Valentina stood, her features twisted in a mixture of anger and disgust. Her eyes, wide with indignation, bore witness to the horrors unfolding before her. With trembling hands, she pointedly gazed at the severed appendages littering the ground, the severed flesh and broken bones a stark reminder of the brutality of their world.
The sight of blood, dark and viscous, pooled around lifeless bodies, seeping from open wounds like a macabre fountain, elicited a visceral reaction within her. With each drop that fell, her revulsion deepened, hardening her resolve and fueling her hatred for the mafia's senseless violence.
A/N: (This is what she looked like when mad and disgusted as a young high schooler, but with blue eyes.)
As I step outside, I spot him waiting, resplendent in a three-piece suit. His gaze meets mine, and he smiles softly.
"Shall we go to dinner?" he asks, extending his hand. I place mine in his, feeling a mixture of comfort and uncertainty.
How deeply does Salvatore comprehend me? And how well do I truly understand him? The questions linger in my mind, swirling like mist.
In the warm ambiance of the restaurant, Salvatore's words wash over me like a gentle breeze. "Seeing you eat so well, you're beautiful again, Bella," he remarks, pouring sparkling water with effortless grace.
It's a paradox of knowing and not knowing my Salvy, a dance of familiarity and mystery that leaves me both grounded and adrift.
"I said just drop me off in front of my house," I say, my voice tinged with a mix of gratitude and reluctance.
"I have to look until you come in your house and feel alright," he responds sweetly, his concern evident in every word.
"You put bodyguards around that much," I remark, my tone betraying a hint of surprise.
"Heh, so you know it," he chuckles softly, his eyes radiating warmth as they meet mine.
Gazing at the door handle, I muster my gratitude. "Thank you for today. You should go home now," I suggest, my smile masking the reluctance I feel.
"Tch, that's right," he concedes, his hair perfectly styled, a stark contrast to the casual setting.
As he bids me goodnight, a feeling of unease washes over me. Something feels off.
"Goodnight, Salvatore," I respond, though my mind races with questions.
Yesterday, he insisted on guarding outside.
"Be...careful," I stammer, my shock palpable as I realize he's my new neighbor, the words tumbling out with a mix of surprise and concern.
"Why did you go there, Salvatore?" I whisper, my voice barely audible amidst the swirling thoughts.
With a nonchalant wave, he bids me farewell. "See you tomorrow, wifey," he calls out, his demeanor masking any hint of his true intentions.
