Chapter One

"McKenna!" I heard my mother yell from the living room.

"Oh great now what?" I murmured under my breath. She's lucky I even heard her. Usually have my music up so loud I can't even hear myself think. "What?" I yell and was met with no reply. "What mom?!?" I was met with yet again moments of silence in response.
"Hello?" I yelled even louder this time. Finally giving up I sighed and rolled off my bed, I miss calculated how far my bed was from the ground and not so gracefully fell, hitting my head on the floor. I stood up, rubbing the side of my head where it smacked into the ground. Ouch, that is going to hurt in the morning and possibly leave a mark. I walked across my messy room, stepping over piles of both clean and dirty laundry. Continuing down the hallway but taking my time once I reached our spiral stairs hoping that the longer I took maybe she would give up on whatever it was she wanted. I stopped in the kitchen as I passed by it to grab my king sized bag of skittles. I just love it when she doesn't tell me what she wants. It always turns out to bite me in the butt. I really hate when she does that, she calls my name and then she never replies when I ask her what is wants. It frustrates me more than when people ask questions that have an obvious answer. There are about three things she usually wants from me. One: Dishes, which I don't like doing. Two: the phone, and I don't feel like talking to whoever it is. Or Three: Something that is a totally waste of my time. I hate having my time wasted. I hope that if it's any of the three it's number two. I hate doing dishes and wasting my time always makes me irritable. That was the last thing I wanted to have to be. "What do you want?" I asked crossing my arms obviously annoyed and leaned against the arched doorway.

"Finally, I called you five times. You should know to come see me after the first time I call for you because I need something," her frustration evident all over her face.

"Well I didn't hear you," I lied, rolling my eyes. "So..? What do you need?" I asked looking down at the bag in my hand assessing which way to open it.

"Your father and I have something to tell you," she started to play with her ring wedding ring which usually means that she's nervous.

''If this is about cookie monster, I already know. They renamed him 'The Vegetable Monster.'" Damn them and their wanting kids to be healthy. LET THEM EAT COOKIES; DON'T CONTAMINATE THEIR BRAINS WITH HEALTHINESS! I thought. They gave me a questioning look in response. "Never mind. What did you want to talk about?" I asked them looking in the bag for the purple skittles since they were my least favorite so I could avoid them.

"Well, you'll be meeting a boy tonight....He-He's going to be coming over with his family," she said hesitantly looking down at her hands.

"Ok? What, is it dad's boss' family or something?" I looked into the bag again. "N-Not really....H-He's uhh.....never mind you'll find out tonight." she looked up and smiled at me. "You can go back to your room now and maybe straighten it up a bit while you are at it." she gave me a gentle smile, she was still obviously nervous about whatever it was that was bothering her.

"Alright, don't count on seeing me when they get here though.'' I muttered turning around.

''Aha! Sure, Hun, sure," I heard my mom fake laughing at my statement. I hate meeting new people and she knows it. I hurried up to my room and change into some boy shorts with a blue and white polka dotted tank top. I put my hair in a bun and fixed my eyeliner. Putting my iPod into my iHome and pressed play. My Chemical Romance came on so I reached over and turned it up just enough so it was just background music hoping she get the hint that I was not coming back down any time soon and lay down on my bed. I started staring up at my ceiling for a while inspecting the texture that was plastered onto it. The last thing I remember before passing out was pondering why ice cubes were considered cold and why fire is considered hot.

I woke up to someone shaking my shoulders gently and saying my name. "McKenna...McKenna..." it definitely wasn't a voice I recognized so I decided I'd pretend to be dead. Which didn't work the shaking continued.

"McKenna isn't here right now....in fact she's dead...leave a message after the beep. BEEP," I mumbled...I don't really know how clear it came out, but I decided that was all I was going to say to this voice. I started thinking about how it was all probably just a dream and this voice wasn't really there, or at least I was hoping it was not real.

The voice broke my train of thought then, "Damn, I was actually looking forward to meeting you, you are smokin hot." It was a guy's voice, but it was a nice voice even if it was calling me hot. My eyes opened slowly and I blinked a few times letting my eyes adjust to the light. Staring back at me were the deepest blue eyes I had ever seen. "There we go. Not as dead as you thought huh?" He asked me with this little kid grin on his face. I didn't respond at first. I was mesmerized by his gorgeous blue eyes.
