Veerendrabhagu was walking around the roads of Rajapalyam and singing along to an old folk tune while he passed the streets of Rajapalyam.He was one of the village's 4 guardsmen and it was his turn today to guard the village that night.Veerendrabhagu came across the village president's mansion.Just then the president Ravi passed by Veerendrabhagu in his car.He told the driver to stop the car so that he could have a chat with Veerendrabhagu.
Ravi:Veerendrabhagu look at you guarding the streets of Rajapalyam so sincerely .You look so weak though. Did you have anything to eat .
Veerendrabhagu: President sir...I didn't have anything to eat yet.After going home I'll have some food.
Ravi :oh it's ok Veerendrabhagu you could come to my home and have some food because it'll get really late by the time you are done with your guard duty and head home.
And so Veerendrabhagu and Ravi headed towards Ravi's mansion
Ravi called out to his wife and told her to fetch some food for Veerendrabhagu .
Just when she was in the midst of  serving food to Veerendrabhagu ,they all heard the ringing sound of the bell which was quite loud .Hearing the bell sound Nandhini,Gayu ,Reena and Suresh too came out.They all looked at each other quizzically wondering what that bell sound might be .
Veerendrabhagu: President sir ,the bell sound seems to be coming from the ruined temple of Veerakarupan.
Ravi: I can see that but I wonder who would be having the audacity to ring the bell at such an hour.
Ravi and his family weren't the only ones who had heard the bell's sound because soon enough the entire village had gathered outside Ravi's compound .
Everyone seemed to be concerned and asked Ravi of they should go to the temple to find out who had been ringing the bell.Someone of them even stated their fears that it must definitely be the doings of some paranormal being as no human has got the audacity to ring Veerakarupan's bell to face his wrath as it hadn't been rung in such a long time while some believed that it was Veerakarupan himself that was ringing the bell angered by something.The president finally stated that all the men will gather and go to the temple together to find out who's ringing the bell while the ladies of the village were supposed to stay back and wait for them and so the men all headed towards the temple.
