The hospital were Reena and Gayathri worked at was in Madrasapattinam.They were resident surgeons of 'British east India company hospital '. Dr. Matthew Stevens was the chief of surgery at that hospital.He was 6 feet tall, with deep set blue eyes and blonde hair that was neatly cut in a manner which emphasised his soft features.He was a very kind hearted European who fell in love with India and settled there by marrying a nice Indian girl and establishing a life for himself in India. He was a man of great principles and values. He intended to help the poor by giving them service and a lower cost and worked very hard at that.Dr.Mathew was going over some papers in his office room when the nurse came and approached him.
Nurse :"Dr. Matthew ,could you please come with me for a minute. It's something very urgent. "
Dr. Matthew :"what is it nurse? Is everything alright?you seem quite alarmed. "
Nurse :"everything is fine doctor but there's something that you need to see.I think you'll understand once you see it for yourself. "
The nurse lead Dr. Matthew to the general wing of the hospital. There seemed to be lesser people than usual at the hospital as it was a Sunday. She lead the doctor straight to a bed which had someone sleeping on it. It was a rugged looking man whose hair was all dishelved and who was stinking a bit .The man had his eyes closed so the doctor and the nurse just assumed that he must have fallen asleep.
Dr Matthew :"who is this guy? "
Nurse :"I dunno doctor, he didn't even tell us what has name his. All he was saying was that he wanted to meet you personally and he also wanted to give you something. He wouldn't tell me why he wanted to meet you. He seemed very hyper so I just made him sit here and left to fetch you and by the time we got here I think he must have fallen asleep "
Saying this the nurse tried waking the guy but he did not even stir.
The doctor and the nurse looked at each other face. They didn't know what to make out of this. The doctor took the man's hand and checked for his pulse. He wasn't able to feel anything at all. He took his stethoscope to feel for the man's heart beat but he wasn't able to hear anything,not even a faint beat. He realised that the man was dead. He told the nurse the same.The nurse was shocked to hear this. All of a sudden she noticed that the man had his hands wrapped around something.It looked like a sword. She pointed it out to the doctor and went around the bed to take it out of the man's hand but his hand seemed to be clutching it very tightly so she was unable to remove it. The doctor saw this and tried helping her. When he pulled at the sword, it came off very easily. He didn't even have to try hard at pulling the sword. It felt like as if that strange man had intended to pass along that sword to no one but the doctor and so that's why the doctor was able to pull the sword easily. The nurse and the doctor were surprised by this. There was an old bag lying next to the dead man. The doctor and the nurse assumed that it must have been the dead man's bag and began looking at the contents. They found a book in the bag along with some other stuff. The doctor took the book, thinking that he might be able to find any detail related to the dead man. Soon enough, when the doctor opened the book, he saw the name of the man written in bright bold letters in ink on the first page. Apparently the dead man's name used to be Bharat. The doctor began flipping the pages when suddenly something interesting caught his eye. One of the pages had a sketch of a face which strangely enough resembled Dr.Matthews face.It also had his name underneath. The doctor didn't know what to make of this. The doctor was left speechless when he saw this. When he began flipping the pages again, he came across sketches of some more face and in the end, the final sketch was that of the dead man Bharath's face. After that there seemed to some writings in the subsequent pages.Dr.Matthew read one of the pages. It said that "the great one would ride over 'Lemuria' with a mighty sword when all sinners have fallen ".Reading this, the doctor just shut the book and told the nurse to keep the body in the mortuary for a few days until the dead man's relatives come to fetch the body .He also told her that he'd take custody of bharath's belongings until Bharat's relatives arrived to claim them.Saying this the doctor just left to send a report to the board about this unprecedented death.
