Midnight Escape

"Amy, you need to go to bed if you want to stay awake during school the next day."

Amy let out a soft groan in annoyance from where she was sitting on the bench next to the open window in her room, the stars reflecting off of her brown eyes.

Her light pink nightgown fluttered in the slight breeze as she let her face be bathed by the moonlight, letting out a sigh.

"Alright alright, goodnight mom." Amy replied as she begrudgingly got up off of the cushy bench and turned off he lights before crawling into bed.

She didn't think of the open window as she drifted off to sleep, dreaming of a place where she had nothing to worry about.

As Amy slept, a silent shadow slipped into the room, followed by a figure with shimmery pink wings folded in to keep from hitting anything.

"She's beautiful." The figure murmured in awe as the shadow flew freely around the room.

Amy groggily cracked her eyes open at the sound, her eyes widening in alarm when she spotted the winged creature standing at the end of her bed.

"It's alright, I'm not going to hurt you, I want to help." The person assured Amy quietly.

"W-what are you?" Amy stammered out as she sat up, slowly inching away from the stranger.

The shadow stopped behind Mark and remained motionless as if watching the two.

"My name is Mark, I'm here to take you somewhere far away where you'll have nothing to worry about." Mark stated kindly, stretching his wings out until they reached their full wingspan.

"Where?" Amy countered curiously.

"Neverland, a place where you'll never grow up and have to face the boringness of adulthood." Mark answered with a grin.

"What do ya say?" Mark added, offering Amy a hand.

"I..." Amy trailed off, thinking of her Mom and Dad asleep in their room just down the hall.

"I can't." Amy stated apologetically.

She didn't have much choice when the shadow took her hand and dragged her out of bed before flying out the window with her.

Mark grabbed Amy from his shadow before she could scream, holding her hand tightly as he floated in the air with his wings.

"Please..." Mark begged, his brown eyes boring into hers.

"I guess I can go for a little while." Amy decided aloud, glancing back at her house one last time before Mark flew towards the moon with her.

The wind whipped Amy's long hair around as they soared through the night sky, LA's lights shining below them.

"This is amazing!" Amy laughed in delight.

"Just wait 'til you meet the others, you'll love them." Mark winked as he sped up, his shadow trailing behind.
