°The Set-Up°
You had known Mark for a good portion of your time in LA, and had met him through your mutual friend Matt. Ever since basically the moment he said 'oh shit sorry for spilling my soda on you', you were crushing. Yes, you first met when he spilled soda on you. How romantic.
You had confessed your crush to Matt, after swearing him to secrecy or you'd cut his balls off, or something like that. Ever since then he'd joke about you and Mark, subtly, or not so subtle. Every time he did you would either brush it off or hit him with the back of your hand.
"Y/N, why won't you just tell Mark how you feel?" Matt asked you, exasperated. Thankfully Ryan and Mark had gone to get groceries, so they weren't around to hear this.
"Because I know he won't like me back! I'm not his type. I should probably just move on..." You sighed.
"Then let me set you up with someone!"
You narrowed your eyes at him. "Blind dates have never really been my thing."
"Well you said you wanted to move on from Mark, and I'm your friend so therefore I must support your decisions and help you move on."
"Alright."
"Great! How about Thursday at 6 at that really fancy place downtown?"
"Sounds like you've had this planned before you consulted me..."
"Sh, just go on the date and have fun!"
As the blind date got closer and closer, you started to regret accepting Matt's matchmaking offer. You hadn't been on a date since before you had gotten this damn crush on Mark, and you still had it. It would be unfair to the guy Matt had set you up with. You had just gotten into your car when you decided to call your friend to cancel.
"Hey Y/N!" He picked up cheerily. "I was actually about to call you!"
"Hey Matt, um-"
"So what are you wearing?"
"What?"
"So I can tell him so he can spot you when you get there, he's already a few minutes away from the restaurant."
Your friend's excitement stopped your cancellation plans. Maybe just one date. "Uh, a red dress with a silver clutch? I've also got my hair braided."
"Okay thanks! He's wearing a black suit with a kind of in-your-face red tie and handkerchief. Have fun tonight! Bring condoms just in case!"
"Shut up Matt!" You scoffed, then hung up.
He sent you a final text saying 'have fun 😏', to which you replied with 'can't text n drive, bYE'.
At the restaurant, you parked your car then nervously entered the restaurant. Looking around for any guy that could possibly be your date, you then spotted a guy with a suit matching the description Matt gave you, down to the red tie and red handkerchief. He was holding his menu up so you couldn't quite see his face, but you nervously walked over to him.
"H-hello?" You nervously blurted out. "I'm supposed to be meeting a blind date here, are you him?"
The man put his menu down, and to your astonishment it was Mark, his fiery red hair matching the tie and handkerchief. "Blind date? I don't know anything about that, but Matt told me my date Y/N would be wearing a red dress with a silver clutch and have her hair braided."
"That cunning sonova." You shook your head, sitting across from Mark.
"Do you not want to go on a date with me?" He frowned.
"Oh no! I definitely do, but I never imagined you'd want to go on a date with me!"
"Why wouldn't I? Y/N, I've liked you basically since I spilled my soda on you."
"Really?" You were wide-eyed. "I've liked you too, for months."
"Wow I guess this has taken forever to happen then." He smiled, to which you giggled back.
"I suppose so."
