A/Y/N - almost your name, ex: my name is Mel, so an A/Y/N of mine would be like Malayana or Makenna))
Recommended Song(s) For This Imagine:
undone - the bird and the bee
A haze was around your mind. You could sense that your eyes were closed, and yet you saw an ice cream stand in front of you. The thoughts of it being a dream faded away, and you soon thought it as your reality.
The man behind the stand handed you a waffle cone with a scoop of mint chocolate chip and a scoop of Moose Tracks, your favorite. Then you became aware of a boy beside you, his arm on your shoulders and your free arm snugly around his waist. Your head was leaning back into his chest as he paid the man, and after he had gotten change for his five dollar bill, you two began walking down the boardwalk.
Looking up, you spotted seagulls and pointed them out to the boy as you licked your ice cream. You were in front of him as you tugged him down the boardwalk, not wanting to lose sight of the birds. He laughed, keeping a firm grip on your hand. "Hey, Y/N, don't keep the ice cream to yourself, I paid for it."
"Fiiine." You teased, turning around to hand it to him. In the very back of your mind, you felt shock when you were met with Mark's face. Sure, he didn't have scruff, and his hair was a bit shorter, but it was Mark. Part of you thought this to be normal, the other part was slightly alarmed.
Mark didn't seem fazed at all, and happily took to the ice cream from you. To your horror, he took a huge bite out of it, eating most of the Moose Tracks. "You monster!" You gasped as he was barely able to keep the ice cream in his mouth through his laughter.
He managed to swallow, and smugly showed you his empty mouth. "That's gross and unfair." You pouted, crossing your arms.
"Aw, cmon little bird." He called you by his favorite nickname for you, and gave you pleading eyes. You knew the nickname to be ironically perfect for a child of Athena.
Your boyfriend gave you a peck on the lips, and it drew you out of your thoughts. "Oh, alright, tin man." You gave in, kissing him again. Your nickname for him was just as ironically perfect for a son of Hephaestus. "Just as sweet, I suppose."
He gave you a grin as the memory --or dream, you weren't sure which-- faded out, and the last thing you felt from it was his cold lips on yours.
Before you even opened your eyes, you knew where you were. You knew the feel of the infirmary cot beneath you, the average chatter around from the Apollo kids, but what confused you was the warm hands holding yours. You turned your head to your left then opened your eyes, spotting Mark. "Hey." You choked out, and his head snapped up to look at you before he started blushing and withdrawing his hand.
You gave a small smile before attempting to sit up. A slight headache was still at the back of your head, but it wasn't much.
"Y/N, how are you feeling?" Mark asked, eyebrows furrowed in concern.
"Fine, just fine." You assured him, but he was still giving you a worried look. "I'm serious, you can stop looking at me like that."
"Y/N, do you remember what you said before you passed out?"
"Not really, what'd I say?"
"You asked to be taken to Will Solace, and when I asked Jack where I could find Will, he said that he had left last year."
You shrugged, attempting to laugh it off. "Oh, yeah I guess I forget things sometimes."
"You also told me to not tell Annabeth. Annabeth left four years ago." You could see that he was dead serious, and you bit your lip. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"No." You admitted, fiddling with the hem of your shirt. "I'm forgetting things that happened, and I'm remembering things that didn't happen!"
"Well, what are you remembering that didn't happen?"
You were reluctant to tell Mark about your possibly imaginary date with him, but he gave you those same pleading eyes from your dream/memory. "Uhm, that I went on a date on a boardwalk, and got ice cream."
"That sounds completely possible, why do you think it didn't happen?"
"Because the guy I was on the date with was you." As you said it, you could see the assurance turn to confusion. "But it was like, a younger version of you! You were clean shaven, and your hair was shorter and styled a bit differently. I don't know, it feels like it was real."
You brought your knees up to your chest, curling up in a ball as if it would protect you from the world and the rejection that was about to happen. But instead of rejection, the most surprising two words reached your ears.
"Little bird."
"What?" You looked up in disbelief. "You remember that too?"
"We had gotten a scoop of mint chocolate chip and a scoop of Moose Tracks."
"And you paid with a five dollar bill!"
"And I kind of ate all of the Moose Tracks in one bite..." Mark admitted sheepishly, but you were still grinning. "Sorry."
"I don't care, tin man, that means I'm not going crazy!"
"But that does mean we'll have to ask someone about this, right?"
You sighed, kicking off the covers to stand up. Mark tried to help you, but you shook your head, you could walk by yourself. After the pounding headache receded, you walked out of the infirmary, still quite barefoot. A few Apollo campers gave you strange looks, but probably assumed that since you could walk, you were mildly okay.
Mark followed close behind you as you walked straight to the area of camp containing the cabins. Without even a second thought in your mind, you marched up the steps of Cabin 15.
"What god is this?" Mark asked, yawning.
"Hypnos, and stop that!" You rolled your eyes. "If you're not careful, it'll make you fall asleep. Stay out here, I'll be quick."
Inside, you plugged your ears and avoided stepping on the kids fast asleep on the ground. At the back of the cabin, you found the record player that was playing magical lullaby music, and took the needle off of it. Immediately, the kids started waking up, disgruntled but still sleepy.
"Turn the music back on!" One of them groaned, and that just so happened to be the guy you were looking for.
"Nope, now come on Clovis!" You ripped the ridiculously soft pillow out from under him."We need your help."
"Can I sleep afterwards?"
"Absolutely."
You led the Hypnos counselor and Mark to the Big House. Who better to help with memory issues than the god of brains/insanity and a child of the god of brains/sleep. Inside the baby blue house, Dionysus was loafing in his office, tossing hot dog pieces up to his stuffed leopard head. The reanimated head was catching and eating them, but you didn't really know where they were swallowed to.
"Mercutio, Clover, and A/Y/N! What are you doing in here?" He asked, upset at being disturbed.
"Mr. D, Mark and I need your help. We think our memories have been magically tampered with." You announced.
Mr. D sat up straight, folding his hands on the desk. "Like Piccolo, Jasper, and Leonard's?"
"Yes, like Piper, Jason, and Leo's."
"Very well, you two sit down. Claude, you can get back to your cabin, I'll handle this."
As Clovis lumbered away, you sat in a seat across from the camp director and next to the son of Hephaestus. "Both of you, close your eyes and allow me access to your memories. I'll get it by any means, so please just let me in willingly."
You did as he asked, and was surprised when you didn't actually feel him probing around in your mind. Sure, there was a presence in your head, but it wasn't startlingly invasive. Mr. D withdrew, and said that you could open your eyes.
"You two stay here, I have to call Olympus about this." He ordered, more serious than you'd ever seen him.
You sat quietly, occasionally glancing over at Mark. Both of you were extremely anxious and nervous as Mr. D spent seemingly ages in the next room over. Slowly, the conversation got more and more heated, and yours and Mark's eyes widened with confusion.
"Stay away from my gods damn mind!" Mr. D yelled, and you heard what you assumed to be angry splash in his Iris fountain.
"What's going on?" Mark whispered, and you shrugged.
Mr. D came back out, clearly aggravated. "Hera took your memories and altered them. All of ours at Camp Half-Blood, actually."
"What? Why?"
"You told her to, Y/N. For some reason, Hera has a soft spot for you."
"Why would you do that, Y/N?" Mark asked, clearly feeling betrayed.
"I-I don't know, I-" suddenly, it all came back to you. The love, the near loss, the heartbreak, the prophecy. "I remember. I loved you. We had been dating since freshman year. You turned fifteen during the summer and I turned fifteen that school year. We met at camp the year before, apparently everybody saw it coming that we would date, We had gotten a prophecy, and went on a quest and met a horde of Drakaina. I was badly wounded. You channeled all of your power out from your hammer to kill them and almost ended up killing yourself. Hera could save you but at a cost, your memories. I told her to do it, but life at camp without you knowing who I was and how much we loved each other seemed too painful. So I told her to erase my memories as well. I guess she did the whole camp's too, so there wasn't any conflicting stories. I'm sorry, Mark. I really am."
Now you were crying semi-silent tears, watching them fall onto your lap. You couldn't bear to look at him, knowing that you messed up and that you were about to lose him again. Instead, a gentle hand lifted your chin up, and your eyes connected with his as he knelt on the ground before you.
"Hey little bird," he whispered soothingly, moving his hand to the side of your cheek. You leaned into his touch, tears still streaming down your face. "Thank you."
"W-why are you thanking me?"
"Because, you did it out of love. Thank you for loving me that much, and thank you for letting me love you."
"You're welcome. Thanks for paying for my ice cream. And, yknow, saving my life." You smiled, causing him to smile as well.
Slowly, you began leaning in, and were stopped just before your lips touched, by Mr. D --whom you had forgotten was in the room-- suddenly yelling. "The prophecy that sent you on the quest! You never completed the quest so you never completed the prophecy!"
"Oh gods," you sighed, still incredibly close to Mark. "I guess we should do that huh?"
"Together." Mark declared, his warm breath washing over your face.
You planted your lips on his just then, and your heart swelled with the love you felt. "Together." You mumbled into the kiss.
