"What welcome party are you all talking about". I asked as I stepped into the house to see my family discussing about what I'm about to find out.

"Oh Bree welcome dear". Mother said as she flash a bright smile at me"

"Bree, have missed you so much. Mum said we have to move so as not to disturb grandma and pa". A childish voice said to me as she hugs my legs with her tiny hands. I  smiled at the chubby face of Caroline. Gosh she is so cute . I said mentally, as I drop down to her level pinching her rosy cheeks before pecking her forehead.

"I missed you more dear, don't mind your grumpy father". I said looking at my brother giving him my best scowling face.

"Dont give me that face Bree". Dalton said, he smiled opening all his 32s. While his mate just stood beside him smiling sheeply.

"So who are we throwing a welcome party for". I asked, standing from my  crouched position, flinging my backpack to a free sofa. I didn't miss the disapproving face my mum gave me at this action.  Instead I moved closer to their gathering to get a glimpse of their plan.

"You were not supposed to be aware of this". My dad said.

"Is there anything you all are not telling me?" I asked, looking round the table expecting a reply from them.

"She already knows a party is been planned, let's just tell her". Mum said.

"The Alpha son will be back soon from his training at the werewolf Council. So it is a welcoming party for him". Mum replied to my initial question. I nod my head going through their proposed plan for the party. I can't seem to understand what is been written.

Highlight like, inauguration into the pack, introduction with the pack members. Receiving the pack mark, discussion about mate with selected few. I scoffed at the gibberish written. Why does a welcoming party have to entail all of this. I rolled my eyes.

"Really is this how a welcome party is planned here, I doubt if this is a welcome party programme. It looks like an initiation ceremony". I said, knowing full well this also looks like a ceremony of my induction into the pack.

"Yes darling it's the combined ceremony of your inauguration and the  welcome party of the Alpha's son". Mother replied.

With a nod of my head I pick my previously flinged bag and leave for my room, my safe haven. I'm really not ready for a lengthy discussion.

Laying back down on my mattress, I can't stop the crocky smile on my face that keeps getting wider. I can't believe who I saw in Jasper's mum restaurant, I mean who would have believed that the high and mighty Queen bee of the school will be caught peeking like a criminal.

FEW HOURS AGO

I turned round the corner to Jasper's mum restaurant, seeing a small figure peeking at the window at the same time trying to hide from onlookers, she is doing a bad job preventing people from noticing her.

Looking at the back view of the figure I couldn't help the laughter from bursting out of my mouth. Is that not Sophia, the sophisticated Queen of high school, I can't seem to understand what she is doing in this side of the market. I mean why is she here? I can't help but question?

I head towards the front door without giving the intruder a look. She was frightened when she noticed my presence, patting down invisible wrinkles on her dress, she gave a fake cough before raising her chin up, then turns her back and walk off without looking back like a proud peacock which she is.

I couldn't help but snort at her attitude, I look in the direction she was previously peeping at, my eyes locked with that of Jasper's. I'm sure he would have seen Sophia leaving. He slightly shook his head before gesturing with his hand for me to come.

Stepping into the shabby restaurant, Jasper's drop his hand full of dirty plate on the counter, going further to remove his apron and also dumping it on the counter. He walk towards me with a scowl face.

"Why are you here"? He asked folding his arm, with his leg spread apart like he was preventing me from moving further. I rolled eyes at his act, lightly pushing him to the side so that I could have more access to get pass him.

I head to a seat at the extreme end making myself comfortable with my legs crossed together. Jasper with his scowl face he sat opposite me with his arm still folded.

"Why are you here"? He repeated his question.

"Why have you been skipping school"? I questioned him back. He drops his folded hands, turning sides ways.

"That is none of your business". He replied. I snort at him.

"Not like I care". I mumbled back. I'm not ready to force any word out of anybody mouth, if he doesn't want to tell me that is not on me.

"OK,  you dare not lie to me. Why was that bimbo here"? I asked looking at his face trying to read the expression on his face.

"Don't call her a bimbo, she has a name you know." He said while throwing me a strict look.

" I don't know why you keep defending the same girl that has always been mean to you, I never took you as someone who likes toxicity. After the names she has called you in school, she still has the temerity to come to your mother restaurant to act as a terrible stalker." I said looking into his eyes, he gnash his teeth together as if trying to contain something, as he eyes flashes from gold to black.

" I don't care who she might be in this pack, I have taken you as my friend and no friend of mine will be treated as a rag or a doormat that anyone can walk over".  I continued, daring him to give a defence word for Sophia. Its quite obvious he is about to explode.

"She is my fking mate Aubree, yes she is. I doubt you will understand this feeling, when you did not grow up with a pack. Meanwhile your mate maked you from birth, making it hard for you to experience the feeling one gets upon meeting their mate for the first time". Jasper puffed out in anger.

I stared at Jasper's angry face in bewilderment not like I'm angry at his choice of words, because he is speaking the truth, I mean for almost 18 years I never knew about any existence of wolves or mate or even a pack so there is no way I can relate with him. Not like its my fault I don't know anything about them.

"So Sophia is your mate"? I asked him calmly. He looked shocked about my question, like he was expecting me to also flare up after all he said to me. I rolled my eyes at him.

"I'm sorry for the way I reacted I know you are looking out for me, my wolf just lost control, he took your statement as an insult to his mate. I'm sorry bree". He apologies with his head down cast, I scoffed at him.

" I wasn't pissed about your statement. You actually spoke the truth meanwhile it not my fault i don't know all of this" I said to him.

" ... but from what I've heard about mate, the are supposed to love one another like their life depends on it which it actually does. Sophia hasn't shown any of that trait to you aside mocking you, I mean if you did not tell me she is your mate I wouldn't have known. You know why because she has always been bitchty to you". I said to him. He looked at me before rolling his eyes at me with one side of his lip raised.

" can't you see she is drawn to the bond, you even caught her spying on me. She may look like a hard nut to crack, but she is sweet inside. Moreover she just found out of recent that I am her mate meanwhile I found out she is my mate a year ago, but I can't walk up to her then because of our background differences, now that she herself knows about our bond we both will work towards been together, although we haven't had a conversation about the bond. He said with a love sick puppy expression. I scoffed at him.

In as much as I am happy for them, I can't help laughing internally at Sophia. It is halirious, serves her right. The fellow she had always degraded ends up being her happily ever after. I couldn't keep the chuckles from leaving my lips.

"Yeah, keep laughing. I kind of feel for her, it must have been a shock to her when she found out. I mean she still cares, because why on earth will she come to this part of the pack just to have a glimpse of me. I'm sure she would have dropped her pride to ask of my whereabout". He said while reviling his 32.

"She sure did ask after you but I blasted her". I replied him. He chuckles softly as he muttered 'so cute'. I looked at him in disbelief.

PRESENT

I can't help the laughter, serve Sophia right i can't wait to see the turn out of their charade, I would like to know if she would stumbled to the mate bond.

This got me thinking about my presumed mate everyone keeps talking about, what if we have met on a normal occurance or he is not labelled as the most hated amongst all pack. May be I would have a chance to feel what love truly is.

Coming to the realisation of my thoughts, I shake my head to stop all thoughts. I doubt if a sane person will love a broken person like me, maybe it is just my destiny to be mated to an insane person hated by all. I doubt if an insane person will even show me any kind of love. I don't think I'm deserving of love.

I close my eyes while wallowing in how unfulfilled, unwanted and undeserving of good things I am, from families to friends then love. I'm just so unlucky.
