FLASHBACK Chapter 3

"She has Latin blood, her grandmother was Spanish." Grandpa explained with a 'don't argue with me' expression on his face. "Also to the fact that some of her characters speak different languages." He added, causing most of the adults to laugh a little as I put John on my lap, letting him play with my hands.

While the adults continued to talk, John started to fall asleep in my arms, causing me to cradle him as to start a lullaby;

"Little child, be not afraid

Though rain pounds harshly against the glass

Like an unwanted stranger, there is no danger

I am here tonight

Little child, be not afraid

Though thunder explodes and lightning flash

Illuminates your tear-stained face

I am here tonight

And someday you'll know

That nature is so

The same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and land

On forests and sand

Makes the beautiful world that you'll see

In the morning

Little child, be not afraid

Though storm clouds mask your beloved moon

And its candlelight beams, still keep pleasant dreams

I am here tonight

Little child, be not afraid

Though wind makes creatures of our trees

And their branches to hands, they're not real, understand

And I am here tonight

And someday you'll know

That nature is so

The same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and land

On forests and sand

Makes the beautiful world that you'll see

In the morning

For you know, once even I was a

Little child and I was afraid

But a gentle someone always came

To dry all my tears, trade sweet sleep for fears

And to give a kiss goodnight

Well now I am grown

And these years have shown

That rain's a part of how life goes

But it's dark and it's late

So I'll hold you and wait

'Til your frightened eyes do close

And I hope that you'll know

That nature is so

The same rain that draws you near me

Falls on rivers and land

On forests and sand

Makes the beautiful world that you'll see

In the morning

Everything's fine in the morning

The rain'll be gone in the morning

But I'll still be here in the morning." I sang softly to him, causing him to fully fall asleep and gaining the attention of the adults, Jeff still recording everything. (A/N I DO NOT OWN THESE LYRICS, THE SONG IS CALLED 'LULLABY FOR STORMY NIGHTS' BY VIENNA TENG, I DO ACTUALLY SING THIS TO MY YOUNGER SIBLINGS TO GET THEM TO SLEEP, THE VIDEO OF THE LYRICS TO THIS SONG IS ABOVE)

"It still amazes me that you can get him to sleep just by singing to him. But damn is it cute, to see both of you like that." Uncle Gino said, causing me to stop swaying John and look at him, a small smile on my face.

"Well, he's my baby brother and I will always look after him even if he doesn't want me to, I will always be there to help him if he falls, just like you are all here to help me if I fall, we're family, and family doesn't end in blood, it's about who you love and who loves you back, that is what defines family." I said, shocking most of the adults to how deep I went with it, and Jeff, Jared and Jensen to chuckle as I had quoted Jim Beaver's character, Bobby, slightly.

"You really have a very in-depth answer to everything, don't you?" Uncle Jared asked me, I nodded in response and looked back down to John, softly passing him to mum when she held out her hands, him shifting in his sleep a little, but settling straight down, I reached into his bag and grabbed his thin blanket and cuddle Tigger, putting the Tigger under his arm and the blanket over him.

~Time Skip To Arrival~

We were a few blocks away from the premiere, John woke up a couple of minutes ago and you can already see people dressed up as the characters from Jack and Barbossa to Elizabeth and Will. All that was going through my mind was 'this is insane' I am glad that they had closed off the road because otherwise, there would be major traffic problems caused by the fans. The limo stopped a couple of streets away from the premiere so that I could do a few interviews and meet some fans.

"Let's get this party started." I said getting ready for the crazy of meeting fans and doing interviews, the door opened to reveal the twins, Phillip and Lily. Everyone got out and sorted themselves into the groups were are going around in. (Group 1; Phillip, Anya, John, Gino & Lily. Group 2; Jared, Gen, Mark & William & James. Group 3; Serena, Jensen, Danneel, Jeff & Elliott)

Once we were all sorted we started off, me taking pictures with the fans as I went passed and signing a few things for them that they brought, from posters/notebooks to phone cases, having a small chat as well with them, some of them even handing me some gifts, like drawings of my character from posters and snapshots to bracelets/necklaces they made, someone even made a scrapbook of my characters so far, from me as a baby to now, it's incredible.

After a street or two, we reached the first interviewer.

"Hi, Miss. Sheppard, can we get a quick interview please?" I heard and went over to them to do the interview, uncle Jensen, aunt Elta, Jeff and Elliott following after me. "Hi, I'm Zöe from the BBC's show Blue Peter, thank you for coming over to do an interview." She said, giving each of us a handshake.

"You're welcome and you can call me Serena if you wish." I replied smiling at her softly and waving to a few of the other cast members as they went past, seeing that I had this interview covered for them, Orlando coming to give me a hug before going to do an interview next to me, we will probably switch when we have finished.

"So, today is the premiere of your latest project, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest' and you have quite the cast for this film, can you give a brief description of your character in the film?" Zöe asked me, holding a mic towards me.

"Well, my character is Jasmine Sparrow, and as you can guess, she is the unknown-till-now daughter of Jack, and she goes in search of her father after her mother passed away, and comes across a voodoo lady, Tia Dalma instead, and doesn't actually meet her father until the meeting between Jack and Tia Dalma, but it was fun because she met her father just in time for the action to begin." I said, trying not to give too much away about my character, a big smile on my face.

"That sounds like a great storyline for your character to have, did you have to learn any new skills for this film or was there anything you did differently from your previous projects?" She asked me, a smile appearing on her face.

"Well, in this franchise I think everyone had to learn sword fighting, apart from Mr Bloom over here because he did use some sword fighting in Lord of the Rings, but I had fun learning it and I will say, at the beginning when you meet my character I had to wear a corset and I am not a fan of them, but I managed to get through it and I did get to sing a song for the film and the soundtrack." I explained to her, pointing to Orlando when I mentioned him and frowning at the corset bit.

"Wait, you sing in this film?" Aunt Elta asked me, looking shocked, I nodded in response.

"I sing 'Yo Ho A Pirate's Life For Me' when Jasmine first sets out to look for her father and then I sing a new song 'Hoist The Colours' that is towards the end of the film when she feels at her lowest point." I said giving a small smile.

"Have you ever sang in front of anyone before this, especially with your family being so full of amazing musicians?" She asked, holding the microphone in front of me again, I was about to respond when Jeff, answered first.

"Yeah, she has quite a few times, she was even singing on the way here in the car, with her uncles, I have a video to prove it." He said, getting his phone out and playing the Shakira song we did in the car, causing me to blush slightly as it played, smiling slightly as it filtered out.

"And that's only to get rid of her nerves, I can't wait to see what she does in a proper studio one day." Uncle Jensen told her, causing me to blush even more.

"It also helps when trying to get John to sleep for mum, I literally just cradle him and sing a lullaby and he is out like a light." I said thinking back to the limo ride when I cuddled with John.

"Well, it seems that you will possibly be doing more singing in the future and definitely have great maternal instincts at such a young age, what was this experience like working with Orlando and Johnny Depp?" Zöe asked me, I chuckled a little.

"Well, as many people know, it is very hard to keep a straight face around uncle Johnny for very long, so there is definitely A LOT of bloopers for the fans and I have known Orlando since I was young as mum played an elleth in the Lord of the Rings series, and because I was a young child they had me as her character's child and I cannot even tell you how many times we both got into trouble, I somehow managed to always cause trouble, but it was fun to work with him once again, he's like an older brother to me, literally my nickname for him is hannar which is the Sindarin elvish word for brother, but by god did I have to hold back from laughing so many times during filming." I said chuckling slightly at the thought of my eight-year-old self's mischief.

The others chuckled too, probably remembering how much trouble I could cause on a daily basis. Zöe laughing along with us, while I wave at John and mum as they pass us with Phillip, Lily and uncle Gino, chuckling slightly as John slips away from mum and runs to me.

As mum looks around for him, I crouch down and pick him up as I stand back up.

"Anya!" Jensen calls, causing mum and Phillip to turn to us and see that I have John, giving a sigh of relief that he's safe. They come over to us, with Gino and Lily in tow behind them.

"John, you shouldn't run from mummy and daddy." I say to my younger brother, not noticing mum and Phillip behind me, as John looks down sadly, causing me to gently hug him closer to me.

"Sowwy Rena." John mumbled into my shoulder, as he hugged me back.

"It's okay Johnny, just tell mummy and daddy that you want to walk with me, okay?" I said to him as he looked up at me, nodding at me with a smile, his eyes quickly flittering to look behind me.

"Mum and Phillip are behind me, aren't they?" I asked looking at aunt Elta and uncle Jensen, who nodded at me as I turned to them, to see them smiling softly at me.

"Hi mum, hi Philip." I greeted them as I saw them, then turning back to Zöe, to continue with the interview, smiling softly. "Sorry about that, Zöe. But it is a great experience to work with Orlando and uncle Johnny as you can never be upset with them around because you just laugh everything off if they mess up or in Mr Bloom's case, fall over and trip a lot." I continued while giggling at the end.

"Thank you for that insight Serena, are there any tips you want to give young aspiring actors out there to help them?" Zöe asked me, I thought for a while on my answer before giving her my answer.

"I think the main thing is to not be afraid of being rejected at any stage for the roles you want to play, just go out there with the utmost confidence and try your best, but always be on the lookout for roles that you can apply for and just go for it, because you will never succeed if you don't try." I said to her while looking at the camera.

"That is such an in-depth answer, thank you, Serena, I know that a lot of kids will take on this advice and use it in their life and it is incredible at such a young age you can give advice that is mostly heard between adults, I bet you can talk circles around your family if you can come up with advice like that." Zöe said I smiled bashfully at her for the compliment and smirk at the end.

"You have no idea, how many times she has run circles around us, and it not just in English, from a young age this little madam has run circles around us in three languages and starting today she's started to do it in another." Uncle Gino said from behind me.

"Oh wow, is it alright if I ask what the other two languages are?" Zöe questioned us, looking genuinely intrigued.

"The other two languages are Quenya and Sindarin, the two variations of Elvish from both the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings books, I think I picked them up while I would be on set with mum and when I would sneak around and always find someone speaking elvish, I would also sit with the vocal coaches and they will talk through it with the actors and I would sort of mimic what the actors would do. That's how I learned Elvish." I explained, sort of, to Zöe.

"Well, that's all we have time for, so thank you for talking to us and enjoy the film." Zöe said to us.

"I hope you enjoy your day Zöe." I said to her, as Orlando and I switched interviews, not before giving each other a hug.
