Chapter 2 - Prophecy
I looked around me in shock, since not too long ago we were on earth and next thing I knew we were going through a blue-green portal and… suddenly I wasn’t on earth! If I wasn’t on earth, there where was I? I mean, where do Cybertronians live?!
“Where am I?!” I asked, my breathing picking up as I started to freak out. My parent’s death was also catching up to me, finally sinking in that I wouldn’t be able to ever see them again. “Why am I here?!”
Ratchet sighed harshly before looking at me, a slight scowl on his face as he spoke. “You are here for your safety, you don’t know the power that mark on your hand holds.” He mutters, before setting me down on the ground. I could tell he was aggravated with me.
I then realized how much taller they all were then me, causing me to gulp slightly before I turned and looked away from them all. The mark on my hand holds power? For what?! “What do you mean, I have no idea what kind of power it has? It’s just a weird birthmark!” I yelled up at him, desperate to prove that it wasn’t anything but a birthmark.
Arcee gives Ratchet a look before kneeling down on one knee, which made me feel a little better about not being as short as before. “Listen, Charlie. The mark on your hand is important, and it does hold great power even we barely understand.” She says, a motherly tone to her voice. It soothed me, calmed me down enough to nod my head.
“It’s mentioned in a very old prophecy, one that goes back longer than any of us here before you.” I found myself listening to her every word, needing to hear this explanation for myself. “The prophecy goes like so:
The one who bears the mark,
Can bring back a Prime of their choosing.
Beware the power that comes with the mark.
Some will hunt for it as use for good,
Others for evil.
Only the marking of a Prime can bring back a Prime,
Nothing else in the universe can.”
I stood there for a few seconds, going over the words she spoke. I was part of a prophecy? It was my job to bring back a Prime? What was a Prime? How was I to choose a Prime, if I didn’t even know what a Prime was?! “Arcee… what’s a Prime?” I found myself asking, looking up at her with hesitant and confused eyes.
Arcee smiled gently down at me, and I could see the patience she was struggling inside to use with me. “Prime is a rank, a very high one at that. They are the leader of the Autobots.” She explains to me, pausing and waiting for me to nod before continuing. “Our leader and the last of the Primes, Optimus Prime, gave his spark so that our planet could flourish.”
Every word she spoke to me made sense, in its own little way. For a few seconds I stood there and thought over her words, before a small smile showed up on my face as I looked up at her. “I don’t know what all I can do, but I promise to bring back the Prime I feel that is worthy.” I said, yet they were my words but at the same time… not my words at all.
The three Autobots grinned at my response and Arcee stood once more, picking me up gently in her hands and holding me close as we all proceeded down the giant halls. “We’ll introduce you to the other Autobots now. Many of them have been searching for centuries for you, Charlie.” She says, before noticing my confusion. “You are an important key to the prophecy.”
I nodded my head, understanding then. “Well, let’s get this over with.” I said, a small smile on my face as we were stopped at what looked like a dead end. I only realized it was a door of some sort, when Ratchet typed in a code on the keypad beside the door.
It opened with a hissing noise, and on the other side were multiple other Autobots that I presumed were friends of my three new friends. I was instantly nervous at the sight of the new Autobots, and I leaned back against Arcee’s chest. I was a slightly shy girl around new people, it was a weakness of mine…
A white, red, and green one that reminded me of Christmas colors was the first to spot me and speak up. “Yo doc, what’s with the human? I thought we all agreed, no more human pets because then we get attached and it never ends well for any of us…” he mumbles, but I still heard him loud and clear.
Ratchet simply rolled his eyes at the Christmas colored one. “Wheeljack, this human is different from all of the other humans.” He says, getting looks of confusion from everyone. He turns around to face me and Arcee, reaching his hand out for me to step onto.
When I finally complied, he turned back around. “Charlie, show them your hand.” He said, making me nod and lift up my hand for everyone in the room to see. Instantly, gasps full of shock and fear filled the room causing me to instantly move my hand back down and hide it in my pocket.
The Autobot called Wheeljack looked at me with wide eyes, and he stood there frozen for a few minutes before finally coming to his senses and shaking his head. “I apologize human, if I insulted you in any way…” he mumbles, causing me to smile and shake my head at him.
“You didn’t insult me in anyway, Wheeljack. You had no idea I wasn’t a… normal human, much less the one in the prophecy…” I trailed off, glancing around at the other Autobots who were staring at me with shocked, angered, fearful, and so many more emotions hidden deep in their eyes. It was going to be a long day for me, that’s for sure…
