Kill Dem Titans: [Eren x Levi]
-
He told me that we would come together, but apparently, our love will never work out that way.
One would think that when someone dies, it'd be pouring rain and depressing, but after the death of my mother, where it had been in broad daylight, I didn't think like that anymore.
In fact, I remembered what kind of day it had been, after the death, and it was anything but foggy and depressing.
The day had started out as a fairly normal one.
Except it wasn't.
It was the 69th expedition outside the wall. After finding that my father, Grisha Yeager, had been the reason all the Titans had appeared in the first place, and was killed for serious crimes against humanity, our job as the Survey Corps was to get rid of all the humans that had turned Titan.
Basically, we were the clean-up crew.
My boyfriend, Levi Ackerman, seemed to hate this idea, which was ironic really, since he was forever the clean freak, but he never showed it of course.
Anyways, we were just leaving Wall Maria, after we had successfully cleaned out all the titans between the two walls. I was on my dark-colored horse, staring at Levi, the wind blew ever-so slightly, making his short hair move and the sun gleamed making his pale skin shine. It was one of those rare moments that made him look handsome, at least more than he was already.
"Take a fucking picture," he commented in his monotonous voice, not sparing a glance at me. "It'll last longer."
A blush spread across my cheeks, "S-Sorry, I was just--"
"Staring at me like a fuckin' stalker?" He cocked an eyebrow.
"Well, erm," I rubbed the back of my head, "... Yes...?"
He scoffed, punching me in the shoulder harshly, I yelped and rubbed my arm, "Ow! That hurt."
"It was supposed to."
"Well, sorry I can't help staring at your beautiful face," he froze and stared at me. His steely gray eyes that were usually unreadable, was filled with shock. It quickly changed into a glare, and I was punched. Again.
"Bastard," he growled, looking away, a small hint of a blush on his cheeks. "Don't say stupid things like that."
I laughed as our commander, Erwin Smith, called for our attention. "... 69th EXPEDITION TO THE LAND OUTSIDE THE WALL, START! ADVANCE!!"
The sound of horses thudding into the ground, running through the massive gate and the encouraging cheers of the crowds of civilians beside him was all you could hear as they exited Wall Maria and into the outside world.
With the exception of a few 5-10 meter titans, everything had went smoothly. I stayed near Levi, our goal was to kill any roaming titan on sight. A fairly easy job for older soldiers like Levi and I.
So... how did it go so wrong?
An hour into the trip. We were taking what was supposed to be a short, ten-minute break. Drink some water, feed the horses, something we all had done hundreds of times. No Titans sighted near our minicamp. No Titans were supposed to be sighted either.
We were in a forest, you see. There was a clearing near the center, which is where we were positioned. We had people positioned around the sides, looking keeping eye on any suspicious activity. Levi and I standing near the side, talking about what would happen when we got back.
"The house needs to be spring cleaned," he noted as he fed his horse.
I frowned at him, "We just had a spring cleaning before we left."
"We'll be gone for a week, dumbass," he rolled his eyes like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "The house'll be so dusty by the time we get back."
"I don't want to have to do another spring cleaning," I complained, puffing my cheeks out.
"Stop bitching around," he glared. "We're cleaning it whether you like it or--"
I was never able to hear the end of that sentence.
There was a loud, shrilly scream, and we both turned around to see at a Titan bringing one of our female soldiers into its mouth.
He and I instantly jumped into action, shooting our 3DMG gear at the tree. I grabbed the woman out of its grip just in time, as Levi slashed the nape of the Titan's neck.
I went to the ground with the woman in my arms, "You alright?" I asked the trembling woman, who had tears in her eyes that were spilling down her face.
"I-I was go-going to tell ev-ev-everyone that there-there were t-t-titans," she sobbed. "Bu-but my ge-gear st-stuck and I-I could-couldn't es-es-escape! I-I-I th-thought I was go-going to d-d-di-die!"
After her tearful statement, she vomited all over the grassy floor. One of the other female soldiers held her hair back as she threw up her breakfast.
Levi landed beside me, scrunching his face up in disgust, "That's fuckin' disgusting," he gagged.
I rolled my eyes, "Where do you think it came from?" I turned to him. "We have vision on all sides of the forest."
He rolled his eyes, "How the hell should I-- EREN, LOOK OUT!!" He tackled me to the ground just as a giant hand went over my head. I watched with wide eyes as a Titan pulled Levi off my body and into the air.
"LEVI!!" I screamed, getting up. I shot my 3DMG gear into a tree so I could get him out. I saw Levi gabbing his sword at the Titan's hand, but it was persistent and did not let go.
I went for Levi's body just as the Titan dangled him over his mouth. I jumped at the Titan, just as he dropped him in his mouth.
Time seemed to go in slow motion, I stuck out my hand to grab the Levi as he did his, and the Titan slammed it's jaw shut. His arm getting caught in between it's teeth, and blood splattering all over my body. Him screaming my name seemed to be drowned out by the blood pounding in my ears.
I glared at the Titan, who shined its crimson red teeth at me. His hand reaching for my body, but at that point, I had lost it.
I sank my fingers into my hand and in a bolt of lightning, I had turned into a green-eyed, black-haired Titan with white-hot anger shining in my eyes.
I don't remember much after that. I was told that I had ripped the Titan to shreds, tearing off all its limbs and opening its stomach, scrounging for Levi's body.
I do remember finding his body. His green cape in shreds and his eyes lifeless and dulled. His left arm was gone, leaving only a stub of its remains. His face was pale and his mouth wide, like he was screaming.
I would never erase that image out of my mind. Not that I wanted to. That was the image, the memory that kept me going.
The memory that kept me in the Survey Corps, even after everyone insisted that I should leave.
The memory that haunted my dreams.
The memory that I saw whenever I closed my eyes.
The memory that reminded me everyday of every month of every year that no matter how much stronger I had gotten after those five years since my mother died, that I still wasn't good enough.
This memory reminded me every single day of my promise. My vow.
My vow that I, Eren Yeager, would wipe every single goddamn Titan off the face of this earth.
