Good Luck (Chapter 10)
Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. What is that noise? Tap. Tap. You walk over to your window, slightly scared of what could be out there. 'Please just be a tree branch.' Even better, you find him.
"Sting?!" you shout, then start to whisper realizing you probably shouldn't announce the sudden visitation to the entire guild. "What are you doing?"
"I wanted to see you." he says, looking down like he's making sure he can't be seen. "Um, can I come in? It's kind of risky out here."
"Oh, yeah, right. Here." you say, opening the window all the way and helping him in.
"Why do you look like you were crying?" he ask, walking up to you, taking your hands in his.
"Probably just tired." you say, looking away from his face. He knew you were lying but didn't press it further. "I have a feeling you'll be battling today." she says scrunching up her face, not too happy with the thought.
"I thought you wanted to see the infamous powers of the Twin Dragons?" he questions with a confused look on his face.
"I do." you said, turning to go sit on your bed, "These games are so unpredictable though. After yesterday, they-" you say, but he stops you.
"Nothing like yesterday is going to happen again. Laxus was fine and I will be too." he says, coming to sit next to you. "Promise." He looks over to the plushie laying on your bed. "Did you sleep with it?" he ask, not trying to contain his laughter at all.
"Shut up." you say, laughing a little yourself. "When did you do that anyways? I was with you the whole time!"
"You walked away every time someone stopped me. I asked one of the fans to do it for me when I signed his shirt. The owner of the stand was so happy to have me by his stand, he thought it would boost his sales, so he arranged the delivery ASAP." he said, that cocky smile all over his face.
"Laxus knows about it." you blushed a little, remembering the embarrassment.
"Good. Should I get him one too?" he joked. You laughed hysterically at the thought. Knowing Laxus, he would turn it into a voodoo doll of some sort, shocking it every time he saw it.
"I came by because odds are that I'll have a fight in the two days with the games coming to an end soon. Also, the final day is always all participants. I might not get as many chances to see you when I'm busy with all of that." Sting said, letting his smile falter.
"Understandable. You'll need your focus to be on the games." you added a reassuring smile. "I'm glad you came by. After the games though, you're mine, don't forget."
"That is, if you still want a date when Sabertooth crushes Fairy Tail." he raises a brow.
"OR if you'll still be interested when Fairy Tail is victorious." you add in slyly.
"Not a chance of that, sorry babe." he put a hand your knee as if he was showing you comfort. "So you just focus on what you're going to wear that day or something."
"Sometimes, you're too cocky.. you know that right?" you ask.
"Hey, I aim to please." he defends.
"Whatever makes you feel better, I guess." you laugh.
"HEY, ARE YOU STILL CRYING IN THERE?" your best friend yells through the door, saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.
"SHUT UP CANA." you yell back, irritated enough that you can't think of anything else to say in the moment.
"For the record, I knew this whole time you were lying when I said you looked like you had been crying." Sting said, trying to lighten the sudden tension a bit.
"OPEN THE DAMN DOOR! I'M NOT LETTING YOU CRY ALL DAY. PITY PARTY IS OVER!" she yelled, trying to open the locked door. She wasn't going to give it a rest so you did the only thing you could do.
"I'M NOT, I'M BUSY." you said to her, cracking the door slightly. She glares at you and pushes on the door, but you catch it with your hand to stop it from fully opening. Sting waved to her as they made eye contact.
"Ohh, got it now." she said, relaxing. "Ok, I'll be in my room getting ready when you're done. Hands to yourself bud." she nods to Sting, laughing hysterically and walking away.
"I'm sorry about that." you said, blushing at her last comment. Sting doesn't listen very well and grabs your hands, pulling you towards him.
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?" he says looking up to you, but you're just looking at your hands in his.
"Yeah, it's not important. It's done." you say, turn around to walk to the dresser and check the time, making sure neither of you are running late for the start of the games. He leans back on your bed, his hands behind his head.
"I know I'm a talker, but I'm a great listener too." he says looking at you, then turning his gaze back to the ceiling. You walk back over to where he is, laying down next to him. You're silent for a moment, but then you turn to your head slightly to look at him.
"Thank you." you whisper, smiling a genuine smile, and he returns it. Sitting in comfortable silence for a moment, replaying your thoughts of the past 24 hours, you make a decision to roll towards him and lay on his chest. Surprised at first, he tenses up and looks down at you, but then quickly relaxes moving one arm from under his head to around you.
"My father was behind the attack on Laxus." you whispered.
"I saw. Sort of." Sting replied, not knowing quite what to say about it.
"It's sad he would do that to his own child." you confessed. "Laxus is a great person, but he wouldn't know that. Truthfully, he wouldn't even care. I cried for a lot of reasons, all of which were caused by him. I cried because I'm scared of him. I cried because Laxus deserves better. Worst of all, I cried because I actually wanted to see him when I learned his guild was here." Sting could sense your voice breaking a little, so he tightened the arm that was draped around you, pulling you closer. "I cried because I'm so damn frustrating. I get confused on how to feel about him when every thing about him radiates hate. It should be obvious, but I make it difficult, and I just want to stop, but I don't know how."
"Finding it hard to hate... that's a good thing." He replied, soothingly rubbing your side. "It may not be easy, but it's not supposed to be. Hating is easy. Loving someone when they give you nothing in return is hard. Someone that can manage to do that, and still smile the way you do every day, is absolutely breathtaking. You want to change that about yourself, because it would be easier, but please, don't."
You stared at the ceiling in silence for another minute, taking in everything he just said. Deciding you said all that you needed to on the matter, you change the subject. "Who do you think you'll battle?" you ask, propping up on your elbow now, still facing him. He sits up only slightly, "I hope it's Natsu. I have always wanted the chance to prove I'm strong enough to beat him."
"We have to start getting ready soon. Especially you, since you're most likely battling." you say, getting a little sad he has to go so soon.
"I know, but I'll wait until the last minute. I said I was only coming by for a few, but easier said than done." he said, turning to face you, propped up on his elbow now too. "If I fight I won't go easy, especially if it's against Fairy Tail. I can't, so I hope you'll be ok with that."
"I know. I have to be, so I will." you said, trying to reassure yourself just as much as you were him. "Same though. Once you leave this room, I'll be Team Fairy Tail for the rest of the competition. Try not to hate me too much."
"No promises, fairy." he says, with a bit of a bite in his voice at the end, causing you both to laugh. The two of you look at each other for a moment, and he bites his lip slightly. Knowing exactly what you both want, you to blush ever so slightly, fighting a bite to your lip as well. Then he does it.. he grabs you with his free hand and you lean forward, kissing him. It's soft and quick, but as you disconnect, you look at his lips and do it again. This time he strengthens the kiss, and neither of you pull apart. Soon your lips are moving with each other perfectly in sync and your hand is on his, still holding you close to him. He strengthens the kiss a bit more, causing your mouth to open just enough for his tongue to slip in. You instinctively give him full access and he begins to kiss you more roughly. Both of your tongues are dancing around each other and your hand moves down his arm, then up his toned abdomen, up his chest, and wrapping around his neck. The kiss gets even deeper and he moans slightly into the kiss for a moment. He falls back against the bed more, dragging you with him. You slowly shuffle over him as the arm you were propped up on begins to grasp on his very muscular arm. One of his hands moves down your back he breaks the kiss, moving to your jawline, kissing up to a spot on your neck, just below your ear. You bite your lip to suppress a moan, and then you hear a knock at the door.
"Team Meeting downstairs shrimp." Laxus voice says through the door and you frown.
"Ok, coming right down!" you say trying to push Sting off of you, but he pulls you into him further, moving his lips up to your ear, licking. You close your eyes in pleasure, "Stinnng. You have to go." you fight your short breathing to say.
"I will." he whispers in your ear, his warm breath on the wet ear causing you to shiver. "Just. A. Few. More. Kisses." he says, kissing his way down your neck as he says it. "Your brother has horrible timing." He says, pressing kisses to your lips again now.
"I know." you say, "He also has dragon senses and enhanced hearing." You say through his many kisses.
"Finnnne." he growls letting you go and you stand up, reaching a hand out to help him up. You walk him over to the window and he stops you. "I'll see you after the games." he says, taking you in for one more deep, but soft and slow, kiss. He then turns to climb out the window, making his way down again. You lean out, offering a friendly smile, before closing your window and running out of your room, adjusting your clothes and hair before Laxus can see you.
Outside of the inn, Sting is greeted by an open doorway when he touches the ground again. "I said 15 minutes." he said, arms crossed, leaning against the wall.
"I don't have a watch." Sting says, smirking. "You better go before she sees you out here talking to me." Laxus let out a 'tch' and shut the door as Sting ran towards his guild.
