Inside the spaceship, Mario, Y/N, Rabbid Y/N, Rabbid Peach, and Beep-0 approached the main room to see Peach, Luigi, Rabbid Luigi, and Rabbid Mario here. A blue hologram floating triangle-diamond shaped object with bunny ears float by and approach them.

"Welcome, Mario, Y/N, Rabbid Y/N, and Rabbid Peach. It is fortunate that you are unharmed - your safety is critical to our mission."

"Hey! Hello! Remember me? The entity who created you? I'm alive too!" Beep-0 said.

"Also fortuitous, but with a critical success factor that is lower in comparison by 31.732193%."

This surprised the group.

"Man, isn't she sassy." Y/N commented.

Beep-0 chuckled nervously.

"Hehe - forgive Jeanie here for her arrogance, everyone. As the ship's new Artificial Intelligence, she just became self-aware yesterday... OBVIOUSLY, I have a lot more testing to do, but seeing as how we're in an emergency situation here, I-"

Starburst flies over to them. Rabbid Luigi is in awe and excitement to see that bunny eared star and clapped his hands.

"Hey, little fella! Aren't you sparkly?! Did you come on board with Mario and Y/N?" Rabbid Luigi asked in a friendly tone.

Just then, two holograms revealed the Luma and the Rabbid. Jeanie takes a good look at them.

"Interesting. It appears that this creature is equal parts Rabbid and Luma. It contains a massive amount of harnessable energy as a result. I suspect there are more of them scattered throughout the galaxy, though without more data the exact number cannot be determined."

The two holograms then merged together into a bunny eared star. Mario and Y/N were interested at this new fusion along with Peach as she put a thoughtful look on her face.

"How could this have happened? Rosalina would never have allowed this!"

Starburst looked distress to hear her name and cried out.

"Mama! S-she's in trouble because of Cursa! Please, help her! PLEASE!"

As if on cue, the hologram of Cursa revealed, scaring the others while some are worried.

"Rosalina..." Y/N said softly with worry.

"Oh, no... Rosalina... Something terrible must have happened!" Peach gasped.

The image of Cursa changed to the dark moving tentacles.

"Cursa is conquering the galaxy using the corruptive energy called Darkmess." Jeanie explained, then showing the orbits of the planets. "I can pinpoint the epicenter of this activity - Cursa's stronghold. It would take our ship an eternity to travel the distance between our current location and this stronghold. However, using a purified form of Darkmess energy, we could create a series of Warp Tunnels that would make such travel almost instantaneous."

The hologram then disappeared.

"JUST what I was about to suggest to our friend here. Hmm, what do we call your kind? Aha! How about, 'Rabbid Lumas'?" Beep-0 suggested.

"SPARKS!" Starburst said.

Everyone smiled in agreement.

"Really? Because objectively speaking I think 'Rabbid Lumas' is kind of perfect - no?"

"It stinks!" Rabbid Mario commented.

"I'm going to have to agree with Rabbid Mario there. It suits them." Rabbid Y/N added.

"Yeah, naming the star 'Rabbid Lumas' sound hard and almost too obvious. Plus, this cute fella leaves little sparkle everywhere it goes." Y/N said, making everyone except Beep-0 nod in agreement.

Starburst made a bashful face at the compliment with a grin. This left Beep-0 with a gloom look. The hologram showed the beach area.

"The closest planet within range is Beacon Beach. The Darkmess has already spread there. Not enough data to define the level of danger." Jeanie said.

"Please, Jeanie, adventure may be new to you, but not to US. I expect the level of difficulty of THIS mission to be average. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind at any point during our mission." Beep-0 explained. "Regardless, with the Rabbid Lumas behind us, the rocky road ahead will be made just a little smoother."

"I believe the consensus was 'Sparks'." Jeanie corrected him.

"Oh, whatever! What matters is - we have their help. Listen, now that Cursa knows they're with us, I bet it will never bother us again!"

"I wouldn't count on that..." Y/N mumbled out, glancing at the window full of stars.

Meanwhile, Cursa had its back facing three shadow figures who're bowing before her. She then turned to them and her eye glowed red, causing their eyes to glow white as they look up to Cursa.

"I NEED the energy of those creatures! Bring them to ME!" she ordered.

As soon as their eyes stopped glowing, the trio turned and took off without a word, leaving Cursa watching menacingly.

The spaceship teleported from hyperdrive and flew straight towards the planet of Beacon Beach. As soon as they arrived, the spaceship landed, and Mario and others walked out to see the place almost dark full of dark clouds in the sky and rains. Mario and Y/N noticed the lighthouse is covered with the same dark tentacles they saw on the hologram. Rabbid Peach raised her hand up to feel the rain and groaned in disgust, making Rabbid Y/N shook her head in amusement. Rabbid Luigi hopped onto the puddle, creating a splash. The splash hit Rabbid Peach in the face, making her yell, which he didn't noticed and was too busy having fun. Rabbid Y/N snickered as Rabbid Peach wiped herself off and glared at Rabbid Luigi before walking away with a sass as Mario leads the way with the rest following him.

Just as they're about to head into the village, something big bursted out of the water and a giant plastic star zoomed in towards them, causing everyone to scream. Y/N was about to fight it when the pointed plastic star stopped inches from Mario's stomach, and it started shaking. Confused, they looked up and Rabbid Y/N, Rabbid Peach, and Rabbid Mario laughed to see a large Rabbid with a blue beard, wearing a plastic star necklace and two yellow star bracelets with a crab on top of his head. He looks scared as he pointed his plastic star staff at them.

"Out! Out! Out! If you're here to cause trouble we're at our limit already!" he cried out.

"Whoa! Easy! We're not here to hurt you." Y/N calmly assured him, lightly pushing the staff away from them.

"Put that away! We're heroes, not unruly tourists!" Beep-0 said.

"Heroes? You mean like, the 'put yourselves in serious danger to help total strangers' kind of heroes?"

Everyone nodded in confirmation, making the large Rabbid smile.

"Bingo banga bonga, baby! Augie's gotta prayer! Ha ha!" he laughed wholeheartedly before clearing his throat. "Er... what I mean is - I've got some minor problems I could use help with. See that THING on our lighthouse?"

Augie pointed at the lighthouse Mario and Y/N saw earlier as the lightning strikes.

"The sun disappeared the second it showed up and snuffed out our lighthouse signal fire!"

"That 'thing' is a Darkmess Tentacle. By eliminating it, not only can we reverse its ill-effects on the weather, but we can purify its Darkmess Energy and use it to create a Warp Tunnel to our next destination." Jeanie explained.

She then noticed some big puddles of Darkmess.

"We must also eradicate any and all Darkmess Puddles. They won't yield purified Darkmess Energy, but they are still a threat."

Suddenly, they heard yells coming from the village as they yell for help.

"Um... Can you stop by the village first? It's under a siege by a horrible menace! Been meaning to get on it for a while." Augie said.

"Augie's request IS compatible with our mission. I have detected a Spark in the village as well. We should make contact." Jeanie added.

"'Spark'? THAT'S what you call those lil' star-shaped critters?" Augie said and then sighed. "They coulda done both of us a favor and stayed home, too."

"Well, we're all here, but this trouble in the village sounds like a 'two-Hero job' - not including myself, of course. Easy as pie! Let's get it over with before my nano-diodes start to rust. Who's with me?" Beep-0 said.

With that further said, Mario and the gang start heading towards the village called Beacon Town. Once they're close, they could hear the villagers calling for help inside the house. Then they saw a Bob-omb walking around the circle in front of the house, confusing them. Mario looked at his siblings and they just give him a shrug. Rabbid Mario gestured to them to fight that thing and punched his hand. Bob-omb noticed them and jumped before starting to walk rapidly towards them. They charged back at the bomb creature and Mario slide himself towards Bob-omb ready to use Dash when it already exploded.

Just then, they find themselves hurled uncontrollably down a dark blue swirly tunnel. Some tried to balance themselves as they continue to flail while some are doing just fine as they glide through the tunnel. Rabbid Luigi was flailing around until he bounced off of Rabbid Mario.

"Hey! Mama Mia!" Rabbid Mario shouted.

Eventually, everyone got a hang of it as they fly towards the hole at speed. They eventually landed on the floating platforms where they can see more Bob-ombs with a house in front of them. Filled with determination, Mario and others managed to easily take them down as they made one of the Bob-ombs explode one another while destroying the others until they're all gone before they get teleported back to Beacon Town. The Rabbid villager happily skipped over to them with a bag over his shoulder.

"Nice work getting rid of that Bob-omb! I was worried it'd KA-BOOM the poor creature I found!" he said.

Y/N's eyes widened in realization.

"You mean you have a Spark with you?"

Rabbid nodded and then pointed to the lighthouse that are covered with Darkmess Tentacle.

"See, the door to the lighthouse can only be unlocked by the sun. With it gone, we can't get inside... normally. Lucky for you, this clever little creature can make its own light! Watch, I'll show you!"

Eager to see, they waited as Rabbid placed the bag down and opened up when something flies out, surprising them. Y/N looked up to see a cream-colored Spark. He looked scared as he flies around frantically until he stopped to see a star in the water. The Spark flies towards it and goes inside, creating a light. A rumble was heard and then a temple burst out from the water, surprising Augie, who got out of the water, to see this. The Spark then comes out of the star shaped light that later died down and flies through the door of the temple.

"We gotta go after it!" Rabbid Y/N suggested.

"She's right! Let's go!" Peach said.

Everyone headed straight towards the temple as they run across the water and to their destination where they can see it's also surrounded by Darkmess Tentacle. Without hesitation, they went into the Darkmess. They're now in the battleground as they see Goombas. Suddenly, a red-orange fire-based Spark flies over to them.

"You gotta win this battle so I can leave with you. Else I'm stuck here!"

"Alright. What's your name, little cutie?" Y/N asked.

"Pyrostar! Nice to meet you!"

"You know, we were following a different Spark earlier but... the more the merrier!" Beep-0 said.

"Here's a tip - the bad guys on this particular battlefield are pretty apathetic. Get to the other end of the battlefield and they'll give up!"

"Thanks for the heads up!" Rabbid Y/N said before pulling out her beam pistol.

"Let's a-go!" Mario said.

"You know it, bro!" Y/N grinned.

Mario dashed three of the Goombas without a problem.

"Okie-dokie!"

Rabbid Peach runs over to Mario, who brings out both of his hands together, and he lodges her up and Beep-0 catches her as they fly over to the next three Goombas. Once she landed down safely, she quickly dashed them over, taking them down without a sweat.

"Classic!"

Y/N looks over from the wall and finds three more Goombas. She brings out her dark saber and throws it towards them like a boomerang as it destroyed them easily before it flies back to her, and she catches it.

"Nailed it!"

Then the two bad guys Pyrostar mentioned as they're called the Scopers. The two shot out two of the dark arrows at the wall they're hiding behind, destroying them instantly to leave them uncovered. Y/N knew these guys are trouble. Peach brings out her Boom-Brella as she readies her aim before shooting it in the middle where the two are hiding, creating an explosion as it created a huge damage on them. Taking it to their advantage, Mario brings out his dual slinger and shoots them both at the same time as they're now down. They then headed over to the area and they got teleported back to the temple they're about to head into with Pyrostar now part of their ally, completing the mission. Augie smiled to see them okay as they head inside the temple.

Little did they know, someone was watching them from above. Augie gasped to see the stranger as they look at him before jumping down. Augie was frozen in place as the stranger placed a finger on their lips, hushing him before smirking, showing him their sharp teeth. Augie slowly sinks himself into the water with the crab on his head shaking with fear. Once his face is halfway down in the water, the crab jumps off of his head and goes into the water. The stranger then turned and runs after the group, going inside the temple.
