Starting Back With The Basics
Daisy's POV
Luigi and I got down to the shop, our spot that we danced at.
"We missed skating season and everything! I'm going to be so rusty!" I said as I stretched out a bit.
"Don't you think you should rest up a bit, Daisy? You were only in the hospital for two to three weeks."
"I will after I practice. Besides, I asked the doctor and he said I can dance, just not too extreme."
"Makes sense, but still, you seem like you are in such a rush about this."
"Because, I've missed it so much when I was pregnant. I love Willow, but still, I missed this. Us being so close, us dancing as if we were walking on water. I missed it so much, the magic, the warm feelings and excitement of compition!" I said as dragged Luigi to the cleared area of the shop.
"Daisy, I don't want to hurt you. You should let yourself rest. I wouldn't want anything happen to you." Luigi said, concerned about me, his eyes showing the overwhelming concern for me.
"What am I suppose to do, Luigi? Just be a housewife because I just had a kid?"
"I never said anything like that."
"I just wanted that wildness of the old times we shared. I want to feel like my life hasn't passed me by yet. I want to feel like I can dance again and be able to compete." I said, tears slowly running down my face.
Luigi held me close, his eyes meeting mine.
"Daisy, if you even want a shot to even get back into the competition scene, you need to take it easy. You need to take things like this one step at a time. I actually know that you have a bigger dream, but you can't achieve it unless you take it one step at a time." Luigi said as he held me close, his arms wrapped around my waist.
"You want to professionally want to try out for next year's winter Olympics for ice skating. You cannot achieve that goal if you injure yourself now. Please listen, Daisy. Understand me. I'm doing this all for you." He told me as we touched noses. He was right, I really did want to be a part of the next Winter Olympics.
"Alright, I will take it easy. I guess we better head back up to the apartment. Willow may give Peach and Mario some trouble."
"I doubt it, she is quite a content little baby." Luigi said as he guided me to the door.
"Still, we should head back. Maybe we can go out tonight and leave Willow with Peach and Mario, if they want." I suggest, needing a date night sometime.
"Maybe some other time, sorry Daisy."
"It's okay, Luigi. Maybe spending more time with our little princess is better than a date night anyway." I said as we went out the door and locking the door.
We walked back up to the apartment hand in hand. We walked in the door and saw Peach and Mario sitting on the couch playing a racing game.
"Where is Willow?"
"She is in her crib. She fell asleep while you two were gone. Which was not long at all. Why are you back so early?" Peach asked as she twisted the Wii Wheel left and right.
"Daisy is going to rest up more before she gets back into the competition scene again." Luigi said as he picked me up bridal style and places me on the couch.
"Why do you treat Daisy as if she was a glass figurine? She isn't going to break easily." Peach said as she crossed the finish line in her racing game, beating Mario.
"She isn't ready to just go right back into the game like that. She needs time to rest up. She is just taking a maternity leave from dancing, skating, and other stuff she does." Luigi said as he went into the kitchen.
"Still, Luigi. If she didn't love you as much as she does, she wouldn't be letting you put her on this leave. She would want to get right back on that horse right now." Peach said as she picked out another racing course.
"Peach... yes I love doing my dancing and skating and such, but I can't just get back on that horse just yet." I said as I got up from the couch to go check on Willow.
"But Daisy, you are basically giving up your freedom of choice."
"Well, that's what responsibility is, Peach. You have to give up somethings for something or someone else." I said holding a now awake Willow in my arms.
"I sacrificed a lot for this little girl in my life, and I know that I made the right sacrifices for her." I said as Willow yawned. I smiled as I saw my little girl open up her blue eyes.
"Time for bottle, huh?" I asked and she smiled.
