A Merry Mario Christmas (Season 1 finale)
Luigi's POV
"Your gift?" I asked as I saw the petals shower down upon us.
"Yeah, I never thought I had one. That's until this happened." Daisy said as she tucked a lock of her brown hair behind her ear.
"Why do you have this?"
"Every princess has a gift. My gift is flowers. Peach's gift is hearts. I don't know how my gift saved you, but it did."
"And I'm glad, but you shouldn't be out here. You will freeze to death! And what about Willow?"
"She is with Peach. She is fine. I needed to get her dad, so I left her with her aunt, grandmother and great aunt. She is in very capable hands." Daisy said as she handed me the hat I lost earlier. I thanked her and looked out to the traffic.
"Do you know why there is a traffic jam?"
"Eddie's cab is stuck. We should try and help him."
"How are you going to help?" I asked as I picked up my shovel.
"My gift is not just petals." She said and took my hand, yanking me to the direction of the jam.
Once we got to where Eddie's cab was stuck, I saw him trying to dig out his tire.
"Need help, Eddie?" Daisy asked and he turned his head to look at us.
"Daisy! You found Luigi! And yes, I'd like some help." He said as he went back to digging out his tire.
I joined him with my shovel trying to dig out his other tire. Daisy stood there. What did she mean her gift wasn't just petals. Her gift saved me, but what else could it do.
She stood there for awhile, looking like she was extremely concentrated. Then she raised her hands to shoulder height and she looked like she was mouthing words.
I started getting warm, very warm and snow started melting. The water started to pool under the tire but then it started evaporating...
I then looked behind me where the heat was coming from and there was Daisy, in white and red?
Once I looked back to the taxi, it was all cleared off of snow and the snow was gone from the road under it.
Daisy slowly brought down her hands and her yellows of her coat came back. The red and white was gone.
"What in the world was that?" Eddie looked at the car and back to Daisy.
She waved her hand across his face and petals came out of her hand.
"Nothing weird happened here. We just did a good job shoveling here. Eddie, you better get going. You don't want to get stuck in a storm." She sweetly said and he nodded, thanking us and leaving.
What was all that about?
"What...?"
"Shhhh... My gift is not to be known. Besides, I was using them for emergencies, like they should be." Daisy said as the cars started moving again, now being able to cross the bridge.
After a bit, Mario came with the truck.
"Wanna lift, Brother?" Mario said and we smiled. Suddenly Daisy started slipping in her footing and I held her up.
"Are you okay?"
"A little tired, but nothing too bad." She weakly smiled and helped her into the truck. We started turning to the street of our apartment complex, but the street lights were not on. The whole street was not a glow. None of the Christmas lights, not even the lights inside the apartment buildings.
"They still haven't turned on the power? This is storm is definitely putting a damper on Christmas." Daisy said as she leaned on me while Mario drove on.
"The back up generator must not be working in the buildings." Mario said as he parked next to our apartment. We got out once the doors unlocked and went inside. I had to help Daisy inside. It was weird that Daisy was like this. Did her gift drain her?
We checked on our doorman and he was no where to be found. He wasn't at his front desk.
"Maybe he is in the basement trying to start up the generator?" Daisy nodded.
"Should we check on him?" Daisy asked and I nodded.
We traveled down to the basement and we saw our doorman struggling with the back up generator.
"Would you like help, Mr. Williams?"
"Luigi? What are you doing down here? Well, I guess that doesn't matter now. Could you please help me with this generator?"
"Sure!" And Luigi went right to Mr. Williams' aid. They started pulling the cord to start the generator, and it started up! The emergency lights were now on and the emergency heaters kicked in.
"Finally! I was fumbling around with that stupid machine for awhile. Thanks for your help, Luigi." Our doorman said as we headed back up the stairs.
"Can we use the elevator now?"
"Of course. Honestly I don't recommend walking up all twelve flights of stairs." Mr. Williams said as he chuckled.
"Okay, thank you. Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas to you too, Marios!"
We went up in the elevator and headed up to our floor. Once we got to the door, we got a burst of cold air.
I looked around and saw Peach and Willow curled up in a mountain of blankets, soundly asleep. I also saw Momma and Aunt Luigiana at the counter playing cards.
"Luigi! Daisy! You're-a home!" Momma said as she watched us walking in.
"Where is-a your brother?" Aunt Luigiana asked.
"He will be coming up, he had to grab stuff from the truck." I said and we all got a hug from Momma and Aunt Luigiana.
Once Mario came in, and had a wonderful reunion that night, we went to bed. Daisy put Willow to bed and then went to bed herself.
Then it was Christmas morning, the time of hot cocoa, present opening, and the warm and fuzzy feelings. Willow's first Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you all out there in the world and have a happy New Year.
*I do not own this song.*
