Prologue: Sorry to Inform You That...

Marinette Dupain-Cheng's phone rings. She thinks, perhaps it is mom and dad as they did leave on their anniversary trip a few weeks ago. She cannot wait to see how things go for them!  She likes to think they are having a blast!  She knows it is a special trip as it is the year they celebrate twenty years of marriage!  She is so happy for them both.

The phone rings again as if it has a mind of its very own!  Marinette picks it up this time on the third ring.

"Hello, yes this is she!" Marinette says.  She is unaware that this phone call is about to change  her life. She listens closely as the man on the other end says, "Miss Dupain-Cheng, I am sorry to inform you that your parents are no longer with us!  What I mean to say is that your mom and dad were in a tragic accident!  Your mother died immediately in the accident itself. However, your father clung to life for an extra day. He had surgery to try to help him,but unfortunately he did not make it."

"What?  This is a mistake!  There is no way it is true!  Mom and Dad are not dead."  Marinette screams into the phone. She is shock. She is upset.  She cannot believe her ears.  She just heard from her mother a week ago and they were just fine then.  How can someone just drop a bombshell like this and expect her to be okay?

"Miss Dupain-Cheng, it is normal under circumstances such as these for you to be in denial!  It still does not change the fact that your parents are indeed deceased.  I am sorry to be the bearer of such bad news."  The man replies.

"How?  How could they just die like this?  It is not far!  They told me they would only be gone for two months!   It is not suppose to be like this!  I refuse to believe it!  They are alive!  I know it."  Marinette blurts into the phone this time with tears in her eyes.

"Miss Dupain-Cheng is there anyone else you may call to come stay with you?  Any older siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, or a friend?"  The man says. He tries to sound as sympathetic as possible.

Marinette does not say another word.  She screams!  She sobs!  She drops her phone. She just leaves it on the floor. She cannot pick it up.  Not when it is the whole reason she is in such a state anyway.  She sobs even more. She does not care who sees or hears her!  She comes to the sudden sad reality that she Marinette is an orphan.  What will she do?

The person on the other end of the phone gets no answers. He hangs up. He shakes his head.  He has dealt with many difficult cases in his life. This one certainly tops them all.  He is not sure what to do.  He does not think there is anything he can do in this situation.  It is not as if  Marinette Dupain-Cheng will tell him anyway.  He can only hope she has a friend to assist her.

Meanwhile, Chat Noir is on patrol!  He hears a sob. He can tell whoever or whatever it is seems to be in pain.  He is not sure if  he should go any closer.  He turns to leave, but hears the sound again.  He believes someone cries alright, but who?  Why on such a pleasant day like this one?  He steps closer to where the noise comes and gasps!  He sees her!  Why it is his princess!  He is most sure of it that she is one who cries so much.  He wonders who or what made her cry?
