The Kingdom of Agrabah
Marinette and Alya are on top of a fruit stall awning the next day. "Alright, Alya, go time!" Alya jumped from the awning and started causing trouble with the saleswoman.
The saleswoman had short purple hair, quite a pointed face and she wore glasses and a white short sleeved coat. She was calling out to the crowd telling them to buy the melons, "Try this, your taste buds will dance and sing!"
Alya picking up one of the melons said, "Oh, these are beautiful melons! I wish I could just take this one."
"Hey! Hands off!" The woman shouted. Alya just laughed as the woman tried to grab the melon from her. "Blah blah blah!" Alya mocked. Unknown to the woman, Marinette dipped down from the awning and was stealing another melon from the back pile.
"Why you," the woman scolded Alya. "Get away from here, you filthy brat!" Alya dropped the melon in the saleswoman's hands and ran off. She climbed up another awning and made it back to Marinette. The saleswoman wanted to put the melon in the back pile, but then she noticed one melon was missing.
"Great job, Alya!" Marinette praised. She broke the melon in half and she and Alya shared. "Breakfast is served!"
Adrien was walking in the streets and people tried to get him to buy some goods. Adrien was happy that no one knew he was actually a prince and he just enjoyed the livelihood of the kingdom.
"Young man," a salesman was selling pots an tried to get Adrien's attention, "buy a pot! No finer pot in brass or silver."
"Sugar dates, sugar dates and figs, sugar dates and pistachios!" Another shopkeeper called out.
Adrien passed another shop full of beautiful jewelry being sold by a kind looking woman with red hair wearing a white and light blue dress. "Would the young man like a necklace?" She asked kindly, "A beautiful necklace for that someone special."
Adrien was really interested, but then another shopkeeper waved a fish in his face and yelled, "Fresh fish! We catch 'em you buy 'em!"
"I don't think so," Adrien says backing away and bumping into a fire eater who had brown hair, muscular body and he wore pretty much just an underwear. When Adrien bumped into him, the fire eater choked on his flame and then belched out fire. Adrien was super surprised, the hood of his cloak fell off. "I am really sorry," he apologized.
Adrien just happened to be nearby the stall where Marinette and Alya were. Marinette glanced at the commotion when the fire eater choked on his flame and caught sight of Adrien. She had no idea who he was or even that he was the prince but one thing was for sure, when she looked at him she could not stop staring. He looked so innocent, so pure, so handsome, so… perfect.
"Wow…" she let out.
"I'm really sorry," she heard him apologize to the fire eater and watched as he pulled his hood back on.
"What did you say, Mari?" Alya asked and saw that Marinette was gazing at this random boy. "Woah, Mari? You okay? Mari? Hello?" Alya waved her hand in front of Marinette's eyes, but she didn't even flinch. Alya wasn't at all interested in Adrien; she didn't even know the guy. If anything, she's jealous because that boy is taking all of Marinette's attention away from her.
Adrien walked over to a fruit cart. He saw a homeless child staring at the fruit.
"Oh, you must be hungry," Adrien said and took an apple which he then gave the child. "There you go." The child ran off with the apple. The owner of the cart saw what Adrien did and got angry. Marinette also saw what Adrien did and she knew there would be trouble because of this.
"I hope you were going to pay for that," the big cart owner said. He had blonde and black hair and he wore black clothes.
"Pay?" Adrien was mystified.
"No one steals from my cart!"
"I'm sorry sir, I don't have any money." Adrien was being the innocent cinnamon roll he was assuming the cart owner would understand.
To his surprise the guy grabbed his arm and yelled, "Thief!" He took out his sword.
Adrien got scared and panicked, "Please, if you let me go to the palace, I can get some from the Sultan."
"Do you know what the penalty is for stealing?" The owner pretty much ignored him and pinned Adrien's hand to a table meaning to cut it off.
Luckily, before the guy could cut off Adrien's hand, Marinette grabbed the cart owner's arm, took the sword and gave it back to him, all while saying, "Oh, thank you, kind sir! I'm so glad you've found him, I've been looking all over for you!" Marinette was shaking her finger at Adrien as if she were scolding him. Adrien had no idea what was going on, he didn't even know this girl.
"What are you doing?" He whispered to Marinette as she held his shoulders leading him away.
"Just play along," she whispered back.
"You know this boy?" The cart owner asked Marinette.
"Sadly, yes," she replied shaking her head in disappointment, "He is my brother. He's a little crazy." She circles her finger around her ear and Adrien is shocked at this. Alya also came along when she noticed Marinette disappeared and started picking pockets.
"He said he knows the Sultan!" The cart owner yelled. Marinette almost didn't know what to say so she laughed nervously. Then she noticed Alya.
"Oh, yeah, he thinks she is the Sultan," Marinette points to Alya. Alya stopped picking pockets when Marinette pointed to her and tried to act natural.
Adrien finally understood what was going on and played along. He bowed down to Alya, "Oh wise Sultan. How may I serve you?"
Alya played along, "Oh, dear child, you are so respectful."
The cart owner stared at Adrien and Marinette comes up next to him. "Tragic isn't it?" She asks and without him looking she takes another apple from the cart and gives it to the cart owner. "Well, no harm done. Come along bro. Time to see the doctor."
Marinette took hold of Adrien and Adrien, still playing along, greeted a camel, "Oh, hello doctor. How are you?"
"No no no! Not that one!" Marinette went with what Adrien was doing. "Come on Sultan," she meant Alya.
"Until next time, my loyal subjects," Alya bowed but she had stolen so many things from the stalls around them that the goods fell out of her sleeves and pockets. The cart owner saw this and Alya tried to grab as much of the stuff as she could carry and the three of them ran off.
Meanwhile, in Lila's secret cave in the palace:
Lila was operating this huge storm-making machine. Chris was on this bizarre gear contraption and he was busy running on it. This running action powered this storm that was in the room.
"With all due respect, your rottenness," Chris huffed as he continued running, "couldn't we have just waited for a real storm?"
"Save your breath, Chris," Lila said and placed the butterfly brooch in the contraption. "Faster!" Lila yelled at Chris.
"Yes. O mighty evil one," Chris ran faster. Lightning struck the brooch which made the sand in a medium sized hourglass swirl around.
"Ah," Lila went towards the hourglass, "the sands of time- - reveal to me the one who can enter the cave."
The top of the hourglass shows the Cave of Miracles and then it falls to the bottom where the sand swirls around like crazy and shows Marinette climbing a ladder, helping Adrien up and Alya is only a little bit visible above Marinette. "Yes! Yes! There she is. My diamond in the rough."
"That's her?" Chris complained, still running on the contraption. "That's the clown we've been waiting for?" He loses control and he is carried into the contraption, getting hurt in the process.
"Let's have the guards extend her an invitation to the palace, shall we?"
Chris shot out of the contraption, crashes into the wall and after a few seconds he answered, "Swell."
Back to Agrabah with Marinette, Adrien and Alya:
Marinette, Adrien and Alya climbed a ladder up this old, abandoned building. Marinette stayed a little behind to help Adrien. Then Adrien talked to Marinette, "I want to thank you for stopping that guy."
"Oh, uh, no forget. Problem it," Marinette tried to respond but started stammering. "I mean, no problem! Forget it. Ha ha ha!"
Alya laughed at this, then she grabbed a long pole which was on the roof and vaulted to the roof of the next building. Marinette was embarrassed at what she said because Adrien also gave a little laugh, so she tried to change the subject while also grabbing a pole. "So, uh, this is your first time in the marketplace?"
"Is it that obvious?" Adrien asked while watching Marinette catapult to the next building and pick up a really long plank.
"Well, you kind of stand out," Marinette gazed at Adrien still in love. Adrien returned the look.
Alya just stared at the two, sighed in frustration and finally spoke to Adrien, "Listen, dude, you don't seem to know how dangerous Agrabah can be."
Marinette snapped out of it and continued putting the plank across to the building Adrien was on for him to walk across, "Yeah, Agrabah can be really dangerous if you don't know what you're doing- -" Marinette was interrupted by Adrien landing next to her and him handing the pole to her. Both Marinette and Alya were surprised.
"I'm a fast learner," Adrien said smiling.
"Right. C'mon, this way."
Marinette led Adrien inside the roof of the building. They ducked under poles and climbed over beams. "Watch your head," Marinette would tell Adrien.
"Is this where you live?" Adrien asked.
Marinette replied, "Yep. Just me and Alya. Come and go as we please."
"Beautiful."
"It's not much, but it's got a great view," Marinette said and Alya pulled back the curtains. Adrien admired the outfits that Marinette made, but when Alya opened the curtains his smile faded.
"Palace looks pretty amazing, doesn't it?" Alya asked admiring the view with Marinette and picked up an apple.
Adrien wasn't too enthusiastic about it, "It's wonderful."
"I wonder what it would be like to live there, to have servants and valets…" Marinette said.
"Oh sure. People who tell you where to go and what to do," Adrien and Marinette started engaging in something like a conversation and Alya was left out again, but she didn't care.
"It's better than here, scraping for food and ducking guards."
"Your not free to make your own decisions."
"Sometimes you feel so- -"
"Your just- -"
"- -trapped," the both finished each other's sentence. Marinette and Adrien stared at each other and sort of realized that they were perfect for each other. Alya stepped next to Marinette and admired the apple she held. Marinette came back to reality, no one could possibly fall in love with a street rat like her.
Marinette took the apple out of Alya's hand just when she was going to take a bite. "Hey!"
"So, where are you from?" Marinette ignored Alya, made the apple roll down her arm and it flew into Adrien's hands.
"Doesn't matter. I ran away and I'm not going back.
"Really?" Marinette took a bite from her own apple and handed the apple to Alya and went to sit next to Adrien.
Alya was disgusted and angry, but tried to keep it cool so she asked Adrien, "So, tell us, what terrible thing would have to happen at home that made you almost get your hands chopped off?"
Marinette glared at her, but Adrien answered normally, "My father is forcing me to get married."
"That's- - that's terrible," Marinette said.
"Oh boy," Alya said and Marinette hushed her.
"What's wrong?" Adrien asked and looked at Marinette.
"Er, nothing! Uh, Alya wanted to say that- - that's not fair." Alya gave her a look.
"Oh, really? What else did Alya want to say?" Adrien was getting closer to Marinette, and she too. Alya was only getting irritated because they were talking as if she wasn't even human!
"She wishes that there were something she could do to help," They both leaned in closer, Alya even more irritated.
"Oh, that's very sweet," Adrien leaned in to kiss Marinette, and this actually made Alya kind of happy. Marinette needed a boyfriend.
Unfortunately, before the two could kiss, the guards came in.
"Here you are!"
"They're after me!" Adrien, Marinette and Alya said at the same time. Then Adrien looked at Marinette and Alya and they both looked at him all asking each other, "They're after you?"
"Father must have sent them," Adrien said to himself.
Just before the guards came close enough, Marinette grabbed Alya's hand and turned to Adrien, "Do you trust me?"
"What?"
"Do you trust me?" Marinette extended her arm.
Adrien looked into Marinette's eyes, she had a look of determination on her face, and he answered, "Yes," Adrien grabbed her hand and the three of them jumped through the opening in the wall where they admired the view earlier. They landed safely on a pile of salt, but before they could get away a guard blocked their way out.
"We just keep running into each other, don't we street rats?"
Alya pulled down the guard's turban, but the guard pushes her to the ground where another guard takes hold of her.
"It's the dungeons for you, girls," the guard took hold of Marinette.
"Let her go!" Adrien tried to stop the guard.
"Look here boys, the street rat has a boyfriend!" The guard laughed and pushed Adrien to the ground.
Then Adrien took his hood off and took out his royal mask, which he carried with him this whole time, put it on and said, "Unhand them, by order of the prince!"
The guards immediately stopped laughing and bowed, also forcing Marinette and Alya to bow, "Prince Adrien," the guard said with respect.
"The prince?" Marinette asked sadly surprised.
"The prince?!" Alya asked super surprised.
"What are you doing outside the palace? With these street rats?" The guard asked talking about Marinette and Alya.
"That's none of your concern! Now release them!" Adrien commanded.
"I'm sorry, your majesty, but our orders come from Lila. You're going to have to take it up with her," and just like that, the guards walked away with Marinette and Alya. Marinette didn't even try and look at Adrien, she felt humiliated, while Alya just struggled and tried to catch Adrien's eye.
"Oh, believe me," Adrien said angrily still talking to the guard, "I will."
