Cave of Miracles

Marinette, Alya and Lila made their way through the desert that night. Lila rode on a camel while Marinette and Alya led it to the place Lila told them about.

"Are you sure this place even exists?" Marinette asked Lila.

"If I didn't know it did, I wouldn't have bothered you with the knowledge," she replied.

"Forget about it existing! Are we there yet?" Alya asked getting rather impatient; she really wanted that treasure.

"Don't worry. We're almost there and then you and your friend can get what you deserve," Lila told Alya. "You just need to give me a lamp."

"A lamp?" Marinette asked irritated. "We are coming all the way out here for a lamp?"

"No, I'm coming all the way out here for a lamp. You girls can have the rest of the treasure, I really need the lamp."

"Why do you need the lamp?" Alya asked Lila out of interest.

"It belonged to my grandmother, some thieves stole it and put in that cave. It's worth a lot to me."
Marinette rolled her eyes and they continued on their way.

After some time, they reached their destination. "So, this is where the treasure is supposed to be?" Marinette asked. "If it is supposed to be in a cave, where is the cave?" Marinette smiled as she thought she caught Lila out. Lila smiled too. She took out the ladybug jewels, connected them and they flew to the nearby mound. In a few seconds, a giant, tiger shaped cave formed in front of them.

"Maybe you should start trusting the lady," Alya told Marinette while holding on to her. "I mean, she told the truth so far."

"Maybe, but then maybe not," Marinette said, still in awe.

Both Marinette and Alya jumped when the cave spoke, "Who disturbs my slumber?"

Alya was terrified and took a step back. Marinette straightened herself and answered boldly, "It is I, Marinette."

The cave looked at her. Then it spoke again, "Proceed."

"Remember, get me the lamp and then you will have your reward," Lila reminded her.

Marinette stepped forward. Alya was so happy that she almost ran into the cave, but quickly stepped away when the cave said, "Only one may enter here."

"Uh, can we make an acception?" Marinette asked the cave. "She's my best friend, we've been through everything together. She won't be too much trouble."

The cave looked at her, then looked at Alya who smiled nervously. The cave growled and said, "Proceed. Touch nothing but the lamp."

"Thank you," Marinette and Alya stepped inside the cave and went out of sight from Lila.

Marinette and Alya descended down a staircase and reached the bottom. They entered into a chamber full of gold, jewels and precious stones. Alya stood there gaping at all the treasure. She was so mesmerized by the treasure that she totally forgot about the cave's warning and ran towards the treasure meaning to take some.

"ALYA!" Marinette stopped Alya just as she was going to dive into the treasure. "Don't. Touch. Anything!" she warned. Alya stopped and immediately became annoyed.
"We gotta find the lamp."

"Yeah, yeah, then we get our reward," Alya said, "but you know something? How are we supposed to get all this treasure if we're not even allowed to touch it?"

"Beats me," Marinette replied, "but maybe we'll get something afterwards. I mean, just a handful of this stuff could make us as rich as the Sultan."

"I sure hope so! I just hope getting that lamp was worth it if we aren't- -" Alya stopped talking because she had the feeling something was following her. She turned around and only saw a green carpet with a turtle shell pattern decoration.

"You okay, Alya?" Marinette asked, not even looking back.

"Yeah, fine." Alya proceeded.

What Alya didn't know was, a magic carpet took interest in the new comers, she and Marinette, and decided to investigate. It flew towards her and then lay flat on the ground when she looked behind her. It followed her again.
Alya stopped and turned around quickly, she looked and saw the same carpet rolled up next to a pile of treasure. She freaked out a bit and speed walked to Marinette. She tugged at her shirt trying to get her attention, "Mari! Mari!"

"Alya, would you knock it off?"

"I think the carpet's following us!"

"Okay, you're being paranoid right now." They continued and Alya calmed down a bit.

I'm just being paranoid, she thought to herself, imagine, a carpet following us? That's ridiculous! Alya walked on. The carpet followed again. This time, when Alya turned around, it jumped behind her and used its tassel to pull Alya's hair. Alya jumped around, but the carpet went the other side. Alya jumped again and landed in a karate stance. The carpet studied her when she got out of the stance started thinking. The carpet waved its tassel in front of her face. Finally, she saw the carpet, and then they both jump scared and run away. Well, the carpet flew away.

Alya tackled Marinette. "Hey! What are you- -crazy?"
Alya tried to tell her what was going on but no sound left her mouth. Marinette saw the carpet peek out from behind a pile of treasure.
"Whoa!" Marinette wasn't at all scared, she heard stories about carpets like this one. "A magic carpet! C'mon, c'mon out. We're not going to hurt you."

The carpet came out slowly, very shyly, and just stood on two of its tassels that looked like its feet and used the other two tassels as hands making as if it put its hand on its chin.

"We're not going to hurt it ?!" Alya said, finding her voice at last, "that thing should be saying it won't hurt us!"

"Take it easy, Alya! It's not like he can bite."

The carpet flew closer and gave a bow to Alya.

"You better show some respect! If I caught you earlier, you would've been a pile of yarn!" Alya threatened. This made the carpet take a step back, then it walked away sadly.

"Seriously, Alya?" Marinette glared at Alya and then looked back to the carpet with kind eyes, "Don't go! Maybe you could help us."

The carpet flew around excitedly and wrapped itself around the two. Alya started smiling, "Hey,  whoa!" She said.

"You see, we're trying to find this lamp," Marinette told the carpet when it calmed down. It started up again and motioned them to follow.

"I think he knows where it is," Alya told Marinette. They both followed.

The three of them passed through a long cave and emerged in a giant, underground cavern. In the centre of the room was a tall pillar, with a staircase leading to the top of it. It was surrounded by water with unevenly placed stones forming a bridge. At the top of this pillar was a light which shone on something they could faintly make out to be the lamp.

"Alya, wait here."

"Seriously? Why?"

"I have better balance when it comes to rocks and water."

"Alright then."

Marinette started crossing the rock bridge. Alya looked around and saw a golden monkey shrine holding the biggest, reddest ruby she has ever seen in her life. She is hypnotically drawn to it. She's always had an obsession with jewels and jewelry.

Marinette climbed the stairs quickly.

Alya stepped closer to the ruby, the carpet sees her and tried in vain to hold her back.

Marinette made it to the top and reached the lamp. She picked it up, pretty disappointed, and said, "This is it? This is what we came all the way down here to- -" she looked down and saw that Alya broke free from the carpet's grip and lunged for the ruby. "Alya- NO!" too late, she grabbed the jewel, and no sooner than she did, the cave roared and shook.

"Infidels!"

"Uh oh," Alya realized what she did.

"You touched the forbidden treasure," Alya put the jewel back in the monkey's hands, but the jewel and the shrine both melt into lava. "Now you will never again see the light of day!"

Marinette ran down the stairs, but they flattened into a ramp. She slipped and slid down the ramp until she flew into the air. The water turned to lava and she was falling straight for it! Just then, the carpet came out of no where and caught her. Alya stood on one of the rocks of the bridge. She looks left and right and sees the rocks on either side were exploding into lava. The carpet flew over and Marinette grabbed Alya right before the rock she stood on exploded.

"Whoa! Carpet, let's move!" Marinette shouted. Together, they flew through the caves and dodged walls and falling debris. Alya grabbed Marinette's neck and blocked her from seeing where they were going.
"Alya! This is no time to panic!" Marinette managed to get Alya off of her, but then she saw they were going to fly into a wall. "Start panicking."

The two of them screamed and the carpet entered into a dive then flew through another cave.

They emerged through the internal entrance. On the outside of the cave, Lila saw the cave growl and begin to close; she got anxious. Carpet and company were almost at the top of the cave when a boulder fell on him making him fall to the ground, sending Marinette and Alya flying to the edge of the wall near the top. Alya was closer to the top and could manage to climb up, but Marinette was slipping. Lila was just in reach and she was probably the only person who could help her.
Marinette shouted to Lila for help, "Help me out of here!"

"Throw me the lamp!" Lila shouted back.

"I can't hold on. Give me your hand!"

"First give me the lamp!"

Marinette gave in. She let one hand go of the ledge, grabbed the lamp that was tied to her pants and handed it over her head to Lila.

"Ha ha ha ha! Yes! At last! Ha ha ha ha!"

Alya climbed up to the ledge and ran over to help Marinette. Before Marinette could fully get to the top, Lila kicked Alya aside and grabbed Marinette's wrist.

"What are you doing?!" Marinette asked in surprise.

"Giving you your reward. Your eternal reward," Lila pulled out a dagger and was about to stab Marinette when Alya took hold of the hand holding the dagger. Lila let go of Marinette and she fell into the cave.

"You traitor!" Alya shouted as she fought against Lila, but Lila was stronger and pushed her into the cave as well. Marinette and Alya fell and Carpet saw this. He struggled to break free from the boulder, then he raced up and caught both Marinette and Alya. Marinette was unconscious because she hit the wall a few times during her fall. The cave roared one final time, then sank back into the sand. Lila yelled in victory.

"Hehe heh heh! It's mine. It's all mine! I- -" Lila looked in her bag where she put the lamp; it wasn't there. "- - where is it?! No. NO!"

Meanwhile, at the palace:

In Adrien's room, Adrien sat on his bed with Plagg at his side. He looked sad, and he was still thinking how he would tell his dad about what Lila did. Just then, the Sultan walked in.

"Adrien? What's wrong?"

Adrien broke down and teared up again, "Lila… has… done something… terrible."

"Calm down. Come here, son. Tell me everything and we'll fix it."
Gabriel hugged his son and Adrien told him everything.
