Part 4

A few days later. The night of the ball.

"Marinette! Come help me with my dress!" Chloe shouted.

"No! Help me!" Lila shouted back.

"I'll help both of you! Be patient!" Marinette shouted at her step-sisters as she headed to Chloe's bedroom to help her get ready.

"So, what do you need help with?" Marinette asked Chloe.

"Help me get my dress tighter," Chloe responded.

"Like this?"

"Tighter."

"How about this?"

"Tighter."

"Is this good?"

"Perfect."

"Now I need to go help Lila," Marinette said as she headed to Lila's bedroom.

"Let me guess. You need help getting your dress tighter too?"

"Yeah. How did you know? Actually, nevermind. Just help me," Lila responded.

"This good?"

"Tighter."

"How about this?"

"Tighter."

"Is this good?"

"Tighter."

"How about now?"

"Perfect."

"Marinette! Come here, now!" Audrey hollered.

"Now I have to go help mom," Marinette said as she rushed to her step-mother's room.

'Hopefully I have enough time to get ready too,' she thought as she was heading to the room.

"Yes mother?"

"You have 5 minutes to get ready. Now go," Audrey told Marinette.

"Yes mother," Marinette responded as she ran to her bedroom.

"Let's hope my sewing is good," she said as she was getting ready.

After Marinette was dressed, she dug out the jewels her mother had given her before she had passed.

"Perfect!" Marinette exclaimed as she found her mother's matching necklace and earrings. "Now my hair."

After she was ready, she went downstairs to meet up with her step-family.

"Where did you get that dress and jewelry?" Audrey asked Marinette.

"My mother gave these to me before she passed away," Marinette responded.

"More like you stole them from me. Girls, you know what to do," Audrey responded as Chloe and Lila started ripping Marinette's dress and jewelry off of her.

"What have I ever done to you that you hate me so much?" Marinette asked, starting to cry.

"It's not you. It was your father. I wasn't going to let you go to the ball anyways. You have cleaning to do. Bye," Audrey stated as Chloe, Lila and Audrey sashayed out the door.

Marinette ran out to the garden behind the house.

"Mama, papa, why did you have to leave?" Marinette mumbled into the fountain she was leaning on.

"It's okay Marinette," Alya said.

"H-huh? Who's there?!" Marinette screamed. " Show yourself."

"You don't have to fear me, for I'm your fairy godmother," Alya said as she walked out of the shadows.

"F-f-fairy godmother?" Marinette asked. "As in, you can help me?"

"Yes Marinette. Now, what is the problem?"

"My step-mother told my step-sisters to tear my dress that I was going to wear to the ball that was tonight."

"Well I can fix that. Bibbidi- Bobbidi- Boo!" Alya said as Marinette's clothes were replaced with a beautiful redish-pink dress and a pair of glass slippers.

"Now, do we have a pumpkin?" Alya asked.

"A pumpkin?!"

"Yes, a pumpkin dear. Do you have one?"

"Follow me," Marinette said as Alya and Marinette walked into the greenhouse. "Right there," Marinette pointed to the pumpkin.

"Bibbidi- Bobbidi- Boo!" Alya exclaimed as the pumpkin turned into a grand carriage.

"I can't take this. You're too generous."

"Take it Marinette. You deserved this for a very long time."

"But, who's going to drive the carriage?"

"Do you have any animals?"

"Yeah... Tikki, Plagg!"

Tikki and Plagg squeaked,"Yes Marinette?"

"Could you guys go get some of your animal friends?"

"Sure thing Marinette!" Tikki said as she and Plagg scurried off to get a goose, two lizards, and two more mice.

"Will these work fairy godmother?" Marinette asked.

"Yes dear. Your pets will work wonderfully," Alya responded as she turned the mice into horses, the goose into a driver and the lizards into footmen.

"There we go. Now Marinette."

"Yes fairy godmother?"

"You have to be home by midnight. My magic will wear off by then."

"Yes fairy godmother," Marinette said as she climbed into the carriage. "Thank you so much fairy godmother!"

"Your welcome Marinette. Remember, you have to be back by midnight."

"Yes fairy godmother. But won't they recognize me?"

"Deary no. With the dress came a magic charm that makes it so people won't recognize you. Other than me and you of course. Now you should go before the ball is over."

"Oh yeah. Bye fairy godmother!"

"Bye Marinette," Alya responded as the carriage drove away with Marinette.

Marinette arrived at the palace. It was the most wondrous sight she has ever seen. She climbed out of the carriage and entered the palace. As she walked onto the dance floor, Adrien walked up to her.

"Welcome fair maiden," Adrien said.

"Your majesty," Marinette responded as she curtsied to the prince. "It is an honor to be in your presence."

"The honor is all mine. May I have this dance?"

"You shall," Marinette said as she and the prince started dancing.

After a while of dancing, Adrien took Marinette to the secret garden that was inside the palace. Adrien had Marinette sit on a swing that was in the garden and one of her slippers fell off.

"Let me help you with that," Adrien said.

"Thank you, your majesty," Marinette replied as Adrien put Marinette's slipper back on her foot.

The clock struck midnight.

"Oh no! I have to go!" Marinette exclaimed as she ran out of the palace. As she was running down the palace steps, one of her slippers fell off.

"Wait! I don't even know your name!" Adrien shouted after Marinette as he was picking up her other slipper.

"I can't stop and talk right now!" Marinette shouted back as she was climbing in her carriage. As the carriage was going down the road, one of the footmen started to turn back into a lizard. They got into the garden as Marinette's dress turned back into rags, the carriage turned back into a pumpkin, the other footman turned back into a lizard, the driver turned back into a goose and the four horses turned back into mice.

"Climb in Tikki, Plagg, Nooroo and Trixx," Marinette told the four mice and went up to her bedroom. "What a wonderful night! I'll never forget it!"

Trixx squeaked, "You might want to hide the glass slipper so your step-mother doesn't know you went to the ball."

"Good point. Thanks Trixx," Marinette said as she put the shoe in the cubbie that was hidden underneath a loose floorboard.

"Why didn't the prince dance with either of us?!" Chloe and Lila were bickering back and forth.

"I better head downstairs. See you guys in a little while," Marinette told the mice as she went downstairs.

"What is the matter dear sisters?" Marinette asked the two sisters.

"The prince didn't dance with us at all!" They both exclaimed in unison.

"He didn't dance with you because of that mysterious princess," Audrey stated.

Marinette giggles.

"What are you so happy about?" Chloe asked.

"Just thinking about what your faces looked like when he rejected you. What did the mysterious princess look like?"

"She was just as ugly as you," Lila said.

Marinette giggles again.

"Go to your room young lady," Audrey told Marinette.

"Yes mother," Marinette replied as she went to her room.

Nooroo squeaked, "So... how was the ball?"

"It was a dream come true."

"We all should get some sleep guys," Trixx pointed out.

"Yeah. Night guys," Tikki said as they all went to bed.

The next day, there was a knock on her bedroom door.

"Hello? Who's there?"

"Your mother."

"Come in," Marinette said as she pulled the blanket over her head.

"I was in your room last night as you were asleep and found something very interesting."

"Mmm."

"I hope you have a good story to go with it."

"With what dear mother?"

"This," Audrey said as she held out Marinette's glass slipper. "After you are married, you are to make me head of your court, and your sisters are to be princesses."

"No."

"What did you just say?"

"No."

"Mother! There are royal guards at the door looking for the mysterious princess!" Chloe hollered up stairs.

"Take your shoe. You are to stay in this room while they are here," Audrey said as she walked out of the room and locked the door.

"Good morning miss. We need your permission to have your daughters try on this glass slipper," Nino said.

"Of course. Come on in," Audrey replied. "Lila!"

"Yes mother?" Lila asked.

"You and Chloe go sit on the couch as the guards go and try to put the slipper on your foot," Audrey said as Chloe and Lila sat on the couch and the guards tried the slipper on the girls.

"Ma'am, are there any other girls in this house?" Nino asked.

"Not of any importance," Audrey replied as they all heard singing coming from the attic.

"Everybody is important. May we go look?"

"Of course. Follow me," Audrey said as she and the guards walked up the stairs to Marinette's room.

Marinette heard the door unlock as Audrey and the guards walked in.

"Miss, we are to have you try on this slipper," Nino said as he started to walk over to Marinette. Audrey tripped Nino as he was walking over to Marinette. The slipper broke.

"Don't worry. I have the other one," Marinette said as she pulled out the slipper and Nino was looking at the shattered slipper.

"May I see it?" Nino asked.

"Of course. Here," Marinette said as she handed Nino the slipper.

"It's a perfect fit! She's the mystery princess!" Nino exclaimed.

"I forbid you to go with them Marinette," Audrey spat.

"And I forbid you to forbid her," Nino replied.

"I am her mother."

"You are nowhere near being my mother," Marinette replies as she walks with the guards.

"We are so sorry Marinette. Can you ever forgive us?" Lila and Chloe asked as Marinette and the guards got downstairs.

"Sorry, but I can't ever forgive you," Marinette answered as Chloe and Lila jaw dropped.

"Let's go Marinette," Nino said.

As they arrived at the palace, Adrien ran over to Marinette and asked her for her name.

"Now that I have found you, what is your name fair maiden?" Adrien asked.

"My name is Marinette," Marinette replied.

"Such a pretty name for a pretty girl," Adrien said. "My name is Adrien."

"Thank you A-adrien," Marinette responded as she and Adrien entered the palace.

"Dad, this is Marinette. The girl I was telling you about and I didn't know her name," Adrien told his father.

"Hello Marinette. It is a pleasure to finally meet you," Gabriel responded.

"The pleasure is all mine, your highness," Marinette said.

"Dad, this is the girl I want to marry," Adrien told his father.

"Very well. You two have four months to get to know each other and design your wedding."
