Chapter 2- Buying a New Car
~*~*~
Dante was in the gym taking his anger out on the punching bag. He was listening to music from a surround-sound stereo system while practicing his martial arts. The song he had chosen was 'Devils Never Cry' from DMC3.
Dante did not let up on the punching bag. He continued attacking mercilessly without hesitation. Dante's rage was at its boiling point. He's had enough of his stepmother's nonsense, and now he's trying desperately to avoid committing a murder.
"You're very angry aren't you?" David asked.
Dante turned off the stereo system.
"Yes. Victoria is lucky that all I did was burn her hand. Because at this point, I would like nothing more than to get rid of her for good. And I swear that I would enjoy the hell out of killing her." Dante answered.
The venom in Dante's voice was enough to make David shudder. That tone was a clear sign that his son was dangerously close to his breaking point.
"Well, you may wanna pack your suitcases. Because we're going to Miami." David said.
Dante's attitude changed in a flash.
"We're going to Miami? I've been wanting to go there for years." He said.
"Yup. I have a friend there who has a big collection of cars. And I thought you'd wanna see 'em." David replied, laughing.
Dante smiled.
"This party's gettin' crazy. Let's rock." He said.
Dante ran upstairs to get ready. He packed up extra clothes, his LG Leon cellphone, and a few poetry books. In pride of place, he put on a red leather jacket with spikes on the shoulders, and smiled at his reflection in the mirror.
The back of Dante's jacket had a snake on it, and there was also a label that read 'I am venomous'
"Lookin' good, Dante. You're dangerous man. Nobody's gonna mess with ya." He said to himself, as he put on a pair of Aviator sunglasses.
Dante strutted out of his room with his suitcases in hand. David was already loading up his own luggage into his Corvette. The trunk had plenty of room for Dante's suitcases.
"You're looking sharp Dante." David said.
"Yes. I like looking sharp. And with these shades, nobody knows what I'm feeling, let alone thinking. So I'm what I like to call unreadable." Dante replied.
They drove to the airport and boarded a plane to Miami Florida. Before long, David and Dante arrived in Miami. They called a cab and were transported to a huge mansion.
As they walked to the front door, Dante realized that this house looked familiar.
'Hey. I recognize this place. I recall seeing it on the internet, but I can't remember who owns it. They must've been pretty rich to afford a place like this.' He thought.
David knocked on the door and it was answered by a man in his early forties. He had dark brown eyes, and was built like a tank.
"David. Good to see ya." He said.
"Feeling is mutual, Dwayne." David replied.
Dante's eyes widened with surprise. Dwayne smiles at Dante.
"And you must be Dante." He said.
"Yes. And it is a pleasure to meet you Dwayne. I've seen all of your movies. You were awesome." Dante replied.
Dwayne laughed.
"A man of culture I see. You seem quite familiar with me." He said.
"That I am. I also got a kick out of watching you on WWE. Those jabronis never had a chance." Dante replied.
David smirked.
"He's not lying. Dante loves watching you wrestle almost as much as he loves poetry. He has a whole collection of poetry books at home." He said.
"Really? Who's his favorite?" The Rock asked.
"William Shakespeare." Dante answered.
"Good choice. I heard that you're lookin' to buy yourself a car." The Rock said.
"Yes. I don't really care about the transmission, as long as it's pretty. I do however have one strict rule of buyin' a new car: No Volkswagens. Those things are garbage." Dante replied.
The three men laughed.
"I agree. They're ugly." David said.
"Well, The Rock's got something special for ya." Dwayne replied.
They went to The Rock's garage where they were greeted by a large collection of old cars. There was a Mercedes-Benz 300, Lamborghini Diablos, and even a DMC Delorean.
"Crimony. There's a lot of beautiful cars in here." Dante said.
"Yup. The Rock takes care of these babies every chance he gets. Take a look around and see what ya like. The driver doesn't choose the car. The car chooses the driver." Dwayne replied.
Dante laughed. He remembered his father telling him the same thing. David went inside with Dwayne. They had some catching up to do.
"So, how are things in L.A.?" Dwayne asked.
"They'd be better if my wife was back. Ever since she went on tour, Dante has been cold, and brooding. And Victoria is no help. She treats him like dirt and I already know that he's had enough." David replied.
"Damn. Sounds like she's a real bitch." Dwayne said.
David laughed.
"You have no idea." He said.
Meanwhile, Dante was looking around the garage. He walked past a Lamborghini Centenario.
"There must be something that stands out among all these cars." He said.
Then a patch of black caught his eye.
"Hey. What's that?" Dante asked.
He made his way past a few Mustangs and Corvettes, and his jaw dropped. Right in the middle of the collection was a 1995 Dodge Viper RT10.
Dante couldn't believe his eyes. The '95 Viper had a top speed of 165 mph with an 8L V10 engine and a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds.
"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes? And certainly a beautiful sight to behold." Dante said. Then he remembered what Dwayne told him. "I think you just made my decision."
"Did you find anything?" David called.
"I sure did." Dante replied, and he went off to meet up with his father and The Rock.
Unknown to him, the front wheels of the Viper slowly turned in the direction that the blonde went while the headlights gave off an amber colored glow. There seemed to be signs of life in them. When Dante returned, he showed Dwayne and David what he found.
"What do ya think?" He asked.
"Looks like my son found a real beauty." David said.
Dante climbed into the Viper. The leather seats were more comfortable than he thought. Dwayne obviously cleaned the interior during Spring Cleaning.
"Sure feels nice. This leather is amazing." He said.
The Rock took note of his reaction.
"Of course it is. That's American craftsmanship at its best." He said.
David look at The Rock.
"Well Dwayne, it looks like it's come down to this. We came here to see you, and now we found this beautiful car. How much would you take for this gorgeous Viper?" David asked.
Dwayne trailed his finger across the hood and wiped off the dust.
"Well, she could use a little cleaning, and a few parts may need to be replaced. But other than that, she runs like a champ." He said.
"I'll give you $300,000 for this lovely car. All cash." David said, as he pulled out the money.
"I don't know." Dwayne replied.
"Well, it's Dante's birthday and Victoria got him an ugly bicycle helmet with Barbie girl. I wanted to make it up to him. No tricks. This is for real." David said.
Dwayne thought on this for a moment. The thought of having to wear anything involving Barbie made him shudder with disgust.
"In that case, it's a deal." He said.
Dante's eyes widened.
"You mean, this is my car?" He asked.
Dwayne laughed.
"That she is. She's a little beat up, but it's your first car. Gotta start somewhere. And ya know what? I think you and this pretty lady are gonna get along just fine. He said.
"I'll make the arrangements to have her delivered to L.A." David replied.
The deal was set. The Viper would be transported to Dante's house and he could restore her.
