Midnight Pigtails

"So, what might a beautiful Purr-incess be doing out so late at night?" Marinette recognized the voice and whirred. In the shadows, 2 green eyes peaked out, staring at her.

"Just enjoying the Parisian night, kitty. Et toi?" She replied

"Coming to see my princess, is there something wrong with that?"

"I've been waiting." Marinette shrugged. Out of the shadows, a tall skinny boy in a black leather cat suit and mask walked out, holding a wrapped package. It was decorated in pink wrapping paper, with a red bow wrapped around it.

"For you". Chat bowed dramatically, holding out the package with one hand.

"Wait, is it Valentines Day already? I'm sorry Chat, I forgot!" Marinette wailed, and buiried her face into her hands. Chat stared at her blankly, then walked over. He grabbed both her hand with his free hand, and held them.

"No, it's not Valentine's day. What? Can I not give you a gift on a regular day such as today?" He held the gift out at her again. "So, do you want it?"

"Chat! You shouldn't of gotten me anything! I don't need anything. I'm just your normal average girl, nothing special!" Marinette rambled. Chat pressed his hand over her mouth. Marinette blushed at the sudden gesture.

"Marinette, you are more then just a normal average girl, you're kind, sweet generous, and...... your my friend. One of the few people who get me. I can come here, and feel right at home, because you put up with my puns,..... with me! You may not think that you're special, but I know it. You're special and more. You're my special." Chat gave her a warm smile, and Marinette just about melted. She didn't know what it was about him, his golden locks, generous green eyes, or that smile, but she felt something. Something for him. And she found herself falling. Falling for him. She was falling for Chat Noir, one of the famous heroes of Paris. And coincidentally, she was his partner, in crime. She got to spend every night, every fight, with him. How lucky could she get. Chat shoved the gift into her hands. "Just open it."

Marinette tugged off the bow, and carefully pealed the wrapping paper, making sure not to rip it. A small white box stood in her hand. Marinette stared at it, then lifted the top. Inside, there was a silver chain. Connected to it, was a silver pig, with a particularly large tail, sitting on a crescent moon. Marinette gasped, bringing her hand to her mouth. She understood the joke. Chat came closer, picked the chain up from her trembling hands, and fastened it on her.

"Do you get it? Whenever I think of you, I think of your pigtails, which happened to be the color of the sky at midnight. Get it? Midnight Pigtails." He walked back around to face Marinette, to find her trembling, her face red, her hand still covering her mouth. She started swaying, like she was about to fall over.

"Marinette?" Chat asked, growing worried. He lunged forward, just as she fell, and caught her.

"Marinette, are you ok? Whats going on, do you hate it, I'm sorry, I shouldn't of..." Chat froze as the trembling girl wrapped her hands around his neck. He froze, feeling his cheeks burn up.

"C-chat, I love it." Marinette whispered into his ear. She truly did, upon seeing it, she had felt such a love, a desire towards him, that she couldn't speak. She felt as Chat wrapped his hands around her, gently placing her feet back onto the ground, propping her up. They stayed like this for a while, loosing track of time. Marinette was just about to drift off, when Chat suddenly broke the hug.

"I'm sorry, purr-incess, but I have to leave, my father won't take kindly to me sneaking out at night for so long."

"Nnnnoooooooo!" Marinette wailed, grasping him harder. "Don't gooooo!"

"Don't worry, I'll be back tomorrow night. And I'll be thinking of you until then." Chat whirled and started to climb off the balcony.

"Chat, wait!" Chat whirred at his name, to see Marinette grab his bell, tug him in, and smash her lips against his. It took Chat by surprised, but he quickly got over it. He cupped her face with one hand, going into the kiss more passionately. His other hand wrapped around her waist, and pulled her body against his. It fit perfectly. They stayed like this for another extended period of time. Then, Chat placed a finger on her mouth.

"I enjoyed that. Good night, princess." Chat gave her one last kiss, and lept off her balcony, and disappeared.   Marintette stared at the patch of darkness where Chat had disappeared, hoping to see him again. When she no longer caught a gimps of the cat, she turned around, and started to walk towards the hatch leading into her room. She climbed into her bed, and stayed awake for a while, thinking of him. Then, she drifted.

And that was the first night she dreamt about Chat Noir.
