His Lady

Ladybug watched as the white butterfly flew off, finally free from the evil grasp that once consumed him, forcing him to feed of the negative emotions of those vulnerable enough to have them. She turned to her partner, Chat Noir, and pounded her fist against his. Her earring beeped, alerting her to the upcoming detransformation, and she bounded off without another word, with Chat heading off in another direction. As she scanned the bustling city below, crowds swarmed the streets, scanning the skies, hoping to catch a glimpse of their famed superheroes. There wasn't a place to detransform. She swung around and started to bound in the opposite direction, unknowing this was the location Chat had headed off in. It was less crowded in this area, yet it was also an unsafe area. Most of the recorded crime happened in this area, even more unrecorded. It was an area she was way too familiar with. Her earrings started counting down, the beeps becoming faster.

Ladybug looked around frantically.

She spotted a building up ahead.

3...

So close! She was going to make it.

She was jerked back by her Yo-Yo, caught on a pole atop another building. She..she wasn't going to make it. As Ladybug watched as her safe building started to shrink in front of her, she slammed into the face of the building, crying out in pain.

"Plagg! Claws o...!" It wasn't the gawking look of a bystander , who had followed him, that froze Chat's statement, but a scream. Of terror, pain. One he was all too familiar with. Ladybug's. He looked up, searching for where his Lady had made such a saddening sound, when he spotted her, nothing but a silhouette, hanging frantically from her Yo Yo, atop the tallest building around, with nothing but a second before she started her plummet. And he started to run. He ran faster then he ever had. With his arms swinging behind him like they did in the anime, he ran, mustering all the strength he had. His body flew threw the streets, avoiding obstacles, cars, and onlookers as if they weren't there. He couldn't let her hit the ground. He wouldn't let her. As he neared her plummeting body, he noticed features on the girl that weren't those of Ladybug, though he paid them no attention.

"I will make it, I will make it..." Chat encouraged himself. "I must make it!" And with one final leap, he caught the limp body in his arms. Catching his breath, he glanced down to the body he held, to find the body of one he wasn't looking for. Her beauty stole the breath from inside him, though he had seen her multiple times before. Her midnight pigtails, soft peaceful features, and an all too familiar necklace.

"Wh-It can't be." Before any bystanders had time to get a good look at the body in his arms, he lept away, bounding through the Parisian sunset, leaping off of building as if they were stepping stones, until he landed on the top of a specific one. He had been here enough times to memorize his way here. Carefully lifting the floor-hatch open and leaping inside, he layed his sleeping princess on her pink bed, tucking her in with a white sheet. A quick peck on her cheek, and he was gone, out the hatch in a flash. Chat knew he had to leave, he couldn't stay in her room. But as he turned to leap off once again, he paused. How could he. His princess, his lady, had just plummeted from an 80 story building. He couldn't leave; she needed him. His heart filled with a sudden sadness, one that could not be explained. She...She could of died. He almost hadn't reached her.

"Mistakes like these aren't predictable, or preventable." Chat told himself "The only thing I can do was soften the outcome. If these mistakes happened so often, she could-..she can..she." Chat couldn't bring himself to say it. "She puts herself in the danger of other, puts her life on the line for others. That brave girl I visit every night, how could I not see it! I'm so stupid! She needs a protector. This beautiful girl, with so much goodness, so much purity in her heart, needs to be preserved, so she may spread this goodness with the rest of the world." Chat decided. He would stay with her, just for tonight. He lept back in with one swift motion, into her chaise, and admired the pink cat pillow.

"Mmnnn, nice." Chat purred, before falling into a deep, purring sleep.

All through the night, one phrase kept repeating to him, in his dreams.

"Marinette is my Ladybug."
