Part Twenty One - Corsham

Now to tell the tale of Corsham
Mixed bag, we'll proceed with caution.
Good to be on English ground
Trees and greenery all around.
I am ten, mum's thirty two
And another child is due.
Four kids in a barrack hut
With no room to swing a cat.
An April baby, born in Spring
Sue's a pretty little thing.
Born in Bradford on the Avon
She's a proper Wiltshire maiden.
They brought her back from hospital
I'm sorry to say; truth to recall;
When I saw my sister what did I say?
"Please can I go out to play?"
I'm obsessed with playing football.
Nothing else in my head at all.
Baby sister, little Susan
Pray that we can move soon.
Corsham the place is nice enough
But accommodation's rough.
Mum's het up and gets quite fraught there
Haven't got a proper home there.
Think Dad was away a bit
We'd not got married quarters yet
The classes small so school is good
We kids are learning as we should.
But Mum is lonely, keeps us up late
So sometimes we can't concentrate.
Mum's emotional has her moods
Dad is quieter sits and broods
Sue's a pretty little thing
What next will our future bring?

The image above is a bit unfair to Corsham. Shows the camp at a later stage when it had fallen into disuse but you get the idea we were living in ex barracks; so a collection of huts. Life will get better soon.
