CHAPTER NO.33 (Last Chapter)

I found myself standing at the top of the palace roof, with my diary in my lap.

At this height, I could literally see the whole city – every house, every street corner ad every shop and temple in plain sight. Down below the storm cloud of the city, we were directly above New York City. I found myself staring at my home city longer than I thought.

It looked the same as the way I remembered it. I could see Times Square from up here, the Jumbo–Tron showing the latest news. Several avenues away from it, I could see the main attraction – the Empire State Building. I could see tourists on the 102nd floor taking photos of the entire city. The traffic on the roads were terrible as usual, taxi drivers yelling at other taxi drivers to get a move on.

And not a day goes by where I don't think that it was the most brilliant city to live in. In a city like this, you could practically get around here well enough, as long as you don't act silly or lost because people would think that you were crazy.

I looked down at my diary. I had just finished a new entry for the worn out book. I placed my pen down at my side and started to read through the newest page.

Diary Entry No. 75

It's finally over.

For so long, I thought this would never end, but now it is finally over.

Proculus has been taken to Olympus, where he was sentenced to Tartarus for the rest of his life, with his Storm Guard elite alongside him. After I visited my mom in the infirmary – Proculus told me that she was in a coma – I told my father that I would accept the role as the next Cyclone Prince, but I made him compromise that Chloe would be second in charge, so Cyclone City would have a Princess as well as a Prince. My sister and I aren't immortal but already I could feel a change in me – everything has slowed down around me and it feels like my skin is completely impenetrable now.

Wow, to think that after all this time, I carried this diary all the way through this chaos. I still can't believe the look on Proculus's face – priceless! But this diary has kept me busy, and I am determined to use this diary to do well, so I am keeping it for now for safe keeping, until I think it is ready.

You know...when you think about it, this is more or less my last diary entry. When people think it like that, they would see it as an achievement to complete a diary, but to me...I see it more as a guide to the past three months that I have been through. And I am still thankful that it is all over. My sister and I are free, I'm dating one of the hottest girls from Chiron's School for Demigod Heroes and I have my mother back again, safe and sound.

I still can't believe I'm dating Katie. For so long, I thought it would never happen, but fate sure prove me wrong, didn't it? I just have be thankful for everything now these days, if that's the case.

Okay, that's enough to be thankful for, for one day. I should go now and put this diary in a safe place. It's time I become the Prince and start helping people.

This is Marcus Dimascio, son of Poseidon and Sarah Dimascio.

Signing off for the last time.

Diary Entry No.75

"Had enough of writing, have you?" a girls voice spoke from my side.

I turned my head so I was looking at Katie.

She was peering over my shoulder to look at what I was writing. The way she tilted her head slightly to the side looked kind of cute in a way. Her silky dark hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she had the time to get changed into new clothes, which were supplied by some of the stores of Cyclone City – a pair of jeans and a long sleeved grey top, with a silver necklace around her neck.

I smiled at her, before looking back at the diary. "It's finished – completely full of notes and entries. There's no more to be written in it."

Katie carefully placed her hand on the cover of the book. "To think that all of that contains everything that you and your sister have been through...in a way it's scary, but in the way you see it, it's dauntless."

She sat down next to me, pulling her knees to her chest. "I can't believe you and your sister are now in charge of Cyclone City. Doesn't it scare you?"

I thought about it for a moment. "I've been thinking about it over and over again. I'm not leaving this city to be ruled by someone who could be just as bad as Proculus was."

Katie nodded her head. "You've got a point."

She rested her head on my shoulder, gazing at the setting sun which was bright orange. I wrapped an arm around her.

"Chiron and all his students are going home tomorrow," Katie said. "Chiron just told me."

My shoulders sagged. Chiron had said that he would return with his students to their school, maybe because he was anxious to get away from here. But I knew I would miss them because they had helped me with so much in this – they helped me find my father after all.

"Will you and Jake be going with them?" I asked.

Katie shook her head.

I frowned. "No? What do you mean no?"

"We've been through so much to help you in all of this," she said simply. "We're not about to leave you now."

She looked at me in the eyes. She smiled.

"Plus, you're my boyfriend," she said. "What kind of girlfriend does that make me if I left you here?"

I was shocked. She and Jake were planning on staying here? My father once told me that being in a team is a lot more better than going solo all the time, but this is true teamwork in the making.

"You're amazing, you know that right?" I told her, returning her smile.

Katie smiled. "I know. I guess that's just one of my amazing qualities."

Then, she leaned in and kissed me full and long on the lips.

All I got was pecks on the cheeks from her and most of the time it was hugs. This time, however, it was a real kiss, full and long.

That was, without a doubt, the happiest day of my life.

Me, my sister, my friends and my parents stood by the entrance of the city, standing in front of Chiron and his students. Kane and Maximus stood right behind me, along with most of the Whirlwind Hunters who helped us out in the battle to stop Proculus. Maximus looked better and was limping less, while Kane's arm was in a sling.

James stood by the old centaur, who had his bow on his back. The son of Hercules had his hands in his pockets, trying to shield them from the cold, even though he was wearing a big jacket made of wool.

"Well," he said. "I guess this is goodbye then."

I nodded. "Yeah, I guess it is."

Chloe shook James hand. "Thank you so much for everything you guys have done for us. We couldn't have done it without you."

Chloe was wearing a long black vest and she had her hair pulled down over her shoulder. She wore her bow glove on her right hand as usual and she had that happy sparkle in her eyes as well.

Chiron came forward and stood in front of me.

"Are you sure that you can take care of this city, descendent of Achilles?" he asked me. "Will you look after it better, and treat the people with respect?"

I nodded solemnly. "I do keep my promises Chiron. I'm not too anxious to break them."

Chiron nodded approvingly. He smiled for the first time in days. "You are perhaps the most respective demigod I have ever had the privilege to meet, Marcus Dimascio. Be safe and take care."

My mother came up behind me and placed her hands on my shoulders. She looked better after getting some proper food and some water into her system. She had managed to gain two pounds so she no longer looked weak and thin.

"Don't worry about that, Chiron," she told the centaur. "We'll take care of him and his sister."

Katie and Jake up beside me. Katie grabbed my hand.

"We'll look after him as well," Katie said, smiling widely.

Chiron returned her smile and bowed his head. The students behind him did the same, even kneeling in respect.

Kane and his Hunters raised their hands in farewell, as the students and Chiron the Centaur walked through the gates. The people of Cyclone City started clapping their hands and cheering at them. The last thing I saw of them, before they faded into nothing, was Chiron waving his hand.

Katie looked at me. "Do you think we'll see them again?"

I smiled at her as I gripped her hand tighter. "I'm sure of it."

I looked at the city behind me. I had my parents with me as well as my sister and friends. I least I won't be alone.

"All of us are a family," I told them all. "And we stay that way for good."

I was told by my father that a demigod's life was uneasy.

But this time, I was determined to live my life in peace, without anything to worry me. For the first time in my life, I was truly happy.

I am Marcus Dimascio, son of Poseidon and Storm Hero ofCyclone City. And I am truly home.
