Day 13 | Water

Day 13: Look to your left. Use the first object you see as an abstract idea and continue the metaphor for at least 150 words.

Water

She stumbled away from the body, hands covered in blood. It dripped onto the ground, the sound lost amidst the rain dripping from the trees surrounding her. She dropped the knife, watching it fall away. She darted through the trees and plunged the bloody hand into the waterfall, her waterfall, and let the stream wash the blood from her hands.

She felt absolutely disgusted with herself. She could remember her sharp, animalistic instinct rearing up as he moved to take her prize. She could never have let him take it, never let all her hard work just get stolen from her. So she killed him. Pure, straight murder.

As she remembered the feel of her blade sinking into her side, she darted forward and threw her entire body under the stream, letting it wash away her sins. As the clean water ran over her head, she closed her eyes and began to sob.

I think water was supposed to be a metaphor for cleaning, like some sort of baptism cleansing of sins. I don't think it worked. This is a small scene in my world that I created in my one-shot The Jungle.
