Week Three Prompts
Wednesday, March 15th - Wednesday, March 22nd
( I am posting this early so everyone can get a head start)
Annnnnd we're back! Week three already, time flies by when you're having fun! March is halfway over, but there's still so much to celebrate! I hope you're ready, cause this next set is out of the world awesome!
Prompt One: World Poetry Day! (Celebrated March 21st)
This is amazing! A poetry day for a poetry book! It's like the stars have aligned just for us! You know what, since I'm super excited about this, I'm going to let this be a FREEBE. Meaning, YOU decide what poetry form you want. It can be whatever, however, you'd like, as long as it's about poetry. When sending me your submissions, just be sure to tell me what form/style it is, even if you do a free verse. All I ask is not to make it longer than 200 words, please :)
Here's a list of poetry styles to get your creative juices flowing, however, feel free to use any form of poetry not on this list:
Prompt Two: International Day of Forests! (Celebrated March 21st)
This is a day meant for nature and protecting wildlife, so it's a pretty big deal. For this prompt, please write your poem as a Villanelle. This is a french poetry style consisting of five three-line stanzas and a final quatrain, with the first and third lines of the first stanza repeating alternately in the following stanzas. These two refrain lines form the final couplet in the quatrain. This is usually about 19 lines long with a rhyme scheme of ABA ABA ABA ABA ABA ABAA. There is usually a lot of repetition as well.
If that was too confusing (sorry, I try) I have an example right here:
Prompt Three: International Day for Achievers! (Celebrated March 24th)
Okay, this one seems kinda silly, but we're all achievers here! Let's celebrate! For this one, the poetry style is a Limerick! These are usually silly and fun, five-line poems that consist of a single stanza. It has an AABBA rhyme scheme as well. Have fun with this one!
Here's an example for you all to check out:
And that'll do it for me! Remember, you can PM me or ask for my email and send your poems that way. Please tell me for which week, which prompt, and the title of your poem when you send it so I know. I'm a busy bee, so the more information you give me the easier it is for me!
Thank you, and I'll see ya on the next page real soon ;)
