The Darkness Comes

Harumi walked around the Monastery, trying to find where Kai and Jay are at. Lloyd said to go check on whatever they were doing, so she did. The only problem was, he didn't tell her where exactly at the Monastery they were. She walked around hallways until she reached the door of the relaxation room. But just as she was about to open it.

"Nya? I've wanted to ask you this for... A long time." Jay stuttered from inside the room. Harumi thought that he was about to ask something important so she didn't open the door, "Um, will you... Be my Yang?"

Harumi gasped before hearing a new voice. "No, no, no. You can't ask like that." That definitely wasn't Nya. It was her brother, Kai.

She sighed and thought to herself, "Jay must be practicing the Yin-Yang promise with Kai." She wanted to hear what would happen next so she decided to just eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Why not?" Jay asked the hothead.

Kai's voice came up again, "You have to ask with confidence. Like this," She heard footsteps so she assumed that they switched positions, "Hey, Nya, how's it going? I've been thinking... You and me, we make a pretty good pair."

Harumi shook her head at Kai, hearing this conversation. "He's doing this his way. This isn't his proposal, it's Jay's." She muttered.

"So what do you say we make it official?" Kai continued. There was a swishing sound and a clanking sound. Harumi guess that meant Kai held out the Yin-Yang medallion to Jay in a proposal stance as an example, "Will you be my Yang?" He asked.

There was a pause before Jay gasped happily, "Yes!" He exclaimed, making Harumi stumble back a bit.

"He really said 'Yes' to that?" She asked herself in a quiet voice.

"See?" Kai smugly replied.

Jay then revised his answer, "Wait, no. I-I can't ask like that. It doesn't feel right. It feels too... I don't know..." He trailed off.

Harumi took this chance to come in. She opened the door and walked in, "It's too cocky for someone like Jay." She answered for Jay.

"Yes! Wait, what-?" Jay looked at Harumi, just noticing that she walked in.

Kai looked at her, "Oh, hey, Rumi." He greeted.

Harumi waved in return and looked at the Yin-Yang medallion, "Planning on asking Nya to be your Yang, huh?" She teased. Jay chuckled nervously and nodded, "Well, Kai's right about one thing." She giggled.

Jay raised a brow at her, "Really?" He asked.

Kai just scoffed, "Of course, I am." He ran a hand through his hair.

Harumi rolled her eyes at him and patted Jay's shoulder, "You need to be confident, but not too much that you end up being cocky like Kai." She smiled.

"Hey!" Kai yelled accusingly.

"Just be yourself. She loves you for you so it's best to act like you, not like someone you're not." Harumi added, completely ignoring Kai.

Jay looked at the medallion before looking at Harumi in thanks, "Yeah. Thanks, Harumi. And I do admit that Kai's example was too cocky." He laughed.

Dareth slid in from the courtyard doorway, "Who's cocky?" He asked, walking into the room.

"Nobody." Kai answered, earning a raised brow from Harumi, "Jay's just trying to find the right way to ask Nya to be his Yang." He smirked.

The 'Brown Ninja' gasped happily and excitedly, "Seriously? You and Nya? Wow!"

"I thought it was fairly obvious that Jay would ask Nya soon." Harumi stated.

Jay groaned, "Aw... Kai, Harumi? Do you mind?"

"Oh, sorry." Kai apologized.

Harumi nodded, "It's supposed to be a secret. So don't tell anyone." She uttered.

Dareth started to approach Jay, "The Yin-Yang promise is a beautiful and sacred tradition, Jay. Congratulations!" He started cheering in excitement, "I'm so excited to be part of it... I-I am part of it, right?" He asked just to be sure.

"Yes, Dareth." Jay responded plainly as if it was obvious.

He pounded his fist in excitement. Kai then added, "If he ever asks Nya." Harumi giggled at that.

"Ask me what?" The said girl then walked into the room wearing a beautiful blue kimono.

Harumi looked at the boys awkwardly before walking towards Nya. She thanked her past self for knowing how to hide something this important, "Ask you where you got- Um..." She trailed off, not knowing what to say.

Jay broke out of his lovestruck trance and tapped Kai. Passing him the medallion from behind Dareth. "Ask you where you got that shirt, haha, because it's awesome." He backed up Harumi's cover story, "I want one." He laughed.

Harumi facepalmed at his stupidity and sighed. Nya then looked at her outfit, "It's a kimono, Jay." She clarified.

"A traditional gown worn by women." Harumi gave a nervous smile and explained, trying to get Jay to say something other than wanting to buy a kimono.

Unfortunately, Jay just continued, "Uh, guys can wear them too." He stuttered.

"Ooh," Dareth jumped into the conversation, "I would look so good in a kimono." He said, making Nya and Jay look at each other. Harumi just groaned in annoyance, but quietly so that no one would hear.

Kai decided to change the awkward topic into something else, thankfully. "Uh, so, where's Master Wu?" He asked.

"In the courtyard," Nya answered, "Supervising the new mural."

Dareth slid in front of Jay, "Ooh, ooh, I want to see." He walked out the door.

The five of them walk out to the courtyard and to the Monastery Mural, admiring the paintings of the Ninja's history and past adventures and victories. There were eleven paintings, each of them special and unique to their own adventures.

"Wow." Jay awed.

"Will ya look at that." Kai smiled.

Master Wu walked towards the mural, "It is the history of Ninjago." He turned to his students, "A history in which all of you played a significant role."

Harumi approached her new sensei, "Even me?" She asked.

"Yes. Even you, Harumi." Master Wu then turned to the mural again.

Gazing at the memories, they started to remember their adventures. Some sentences and phrases even repeating in their heads.

"I wear the Dragon Armor." Iron Baron stated in the past.

"Change anything, change everything." Kai uttered in the past.

"You want this city, Lloyd? Then you can have it... In ruins!" Garmadon yelled enraged in the past.

"There's nothing more powerful than a blow to the heart." Harumi mocked in the past.

"Wish it all to go away." Nadakhan tempted in the erased-timeline past.

Jay started laughing, "Hey, that's us!" He pointed to the picture of Nadakhan with Nya and Jay holding hands at the side of the picture. Dareth and Kai looked at each other in confusion.

Nya pointed at two other pictures, "And there's Pythor... And Morro."

Dareth ran towards the mural, "Where am I? Where am I?" He asked, running from picture to picture, "I-I'm in here somewhere, right?"

"Oh, I'm sure you are." Nya said carefully.

"Okay. I'll keep looking." He then spotted something in the picture that consisted of Lloyd, Garmadon, and Harumi who was still the Quiet One, "Oh, I think I see me. There's a brown spot here, and it looks just like me. Whoo-hoo!" He cheered and Nya giggled at him.

Harumi approached the painting that was furthest to the left. It was the painting of Ninjago City after Lord Garmadon took over with her help. She frowned at the painting of her and Garmadon versus Lloyd and Master Wu. At that time, she wasn't on Lloyd's side yet.

She looked down in shame before Nya approached her and rubbed circles on her back. Usually, Lloyd would be the one to calm and assure her but when he isn't there, Nya would take up that spot and help her.

"It's okay, Rumi. You've changed. You're good now." She gave a sympathetic look to her.

Jay walked towards them and nodded, "Yeah. You're with us and you're one of us now. Don't worry, it's all in the past." He smiled.

Harumi let out a heavy sigh and wiped a tear away from her eye, "Y-Yeah. I'm fine." She gave a shaky answer.

Kai then approached another picture. It was furthest on the right and on the bottom. It must've been their first adventure together. "Huh. What's that?" The Fire Elemental asked.

"The Tornado of Creation." Jay answered, coming up beside him, "Don't you remember? We all came together and formed that... That bone-cage thingy."

"Oh, yeah." Kai laughed, "I can't believe that worked."

"Uh... Except I don't remember it looking that impressive." Jay added.

Kai nodded in agreement, "Yeah, Master Wu. Are you sure you want to commemorate this moment? I mean, we've had better ones."

"It is a part of our history. When all hope seemed lost, you confronted destruction with creation." Master Wu then balanced his staff on his hand, "Balance was restored. That is the power of Spinjitzu, which we must always-"

He got cut off by an explosion that made him drop his staff in surprise. Everyone looked up and saw a portal opening above the Monastery. They all gasped. The Firstbourne flew out of it.

"What was that?" Harumi asked in shock.

Kai looked at her, "That looked like Firstbourne!" He exclaimed.

The Firstbourne flew out of control and fell beneath the clouds.

"Come on!" Jay rushed down the stairs and everyone followed in pursuit.

In the middle of running, Harumi still didn't get it and asked, "Firstbourne? As in the mother of all Dragons? The dragon that sensed good in me? And the one that young Master Wu rode when you guys came back from the First Realm?" She wanted to get a clarification.

"Yeah. Pretty much." Kai replied.

Once they reached the bottom of the Mountain of Impossible Height, they all saw Firstbourne on the floor. She looked very injured when they approached her. Wu gasped and threw his staff away, running at the dragon and trying his best to comfort her.

Firstbourne opened her talons and someone crawled out. It was Faith. She fell out of the talons and fell on her back. She also looked very injured. Everyone turned their attention to her and gasped.

"Oh, my gosh. Faith." Jay and Nya ran to her aid. Harumi just stood there, shocked.

"Are you okay?" Nya asked.

Wu turned to look at the injured girl and approached her. He rested her on his arm, "Faith. What happened?" He questioned, "Who did this?"

Faith whispered something inaudible and only Wu could hear her. "What did she say?" Harumi asked, her hands crossed together in her chest out of fear.

Wu slowly looked up, "She said... A darkness is coming."

Harumi gasped, "It's the darkness Garmadon was talking about. It's real." She whispered to herself.

Soon, everyone was in the Monastery courtyard. The new Destiny's Bounty was back and Cole, PIXAL, and Zane returned as did Lloyd. Harumi leaned on a support beam but ran into Lloyd's arms for a hug as soon as he arrived.

She buried her face in his chest, "You're okay." She mumbled.

Lloyd stroked his hands up and down her back to try and comfort her, "I'm fine. But I have some disturbing news from my father." He said, making Harumi look up at him.

"What did he say?" She asked.

He looked hesitant to answer, "I'll explain later. To all of you." She nodded in understanding.

They were all gathered outside of a guest room, waiting for the news on Faith. Master Wu opened the door and exited the room. It revealed that Misako was tending to Faith's injuries and Wu was revealed to be holding a teapot.

"How is she?" Lloyd asked.

"Will she be okay?" Nya added.

Misako laid a handkerchief on Faith's forehead and Master Wu closed the door. "I've given her a powerful healing potion. She will recover. As will Firstbourne, though it will take time."

"Did she say what happened?" Cole queried.

He brewed a tea and answered, "She said... A darkness swept over the Realm of Oni and Dragon. She tried to resist it, but it grew and grew, consuming all in its path. Those who were touched by it were frozen where they stood like statues."

"I was at Kryptarium Prison, visiting my father. He said something similar. He said 'The darkness is coming'." Lloyd announced his findings.

Jay appeared beside Wu, "Well, that's creepy." He waved his hand over the steam and tried to blow it away.

"But what is it? What is the darkness?" Cole questioned.

Harumi turned to Lloyd, "What else did he say?"

"Something about 'The Bringers of Doom'." Lloyd responded.

Master Wu thought to himself, "Bringers of doom." He repeated. He led everyone into the Monastery Library and grabbed a book, flipping through its pages. He stopped and pointed at the picture, "There. That's it."

Cole came closer to look at the picture, "I don't like the look of that." He mentioned.

"Oh. Me neither." Kai agreed.

Harumi slowly came closer to the picture in the book, "But what is it?" She asked, frowning.

"It is an Oni." Wu explained, "My father called them the Bringers of Doom. He feared that they would one day spread out from their realm and cover all the lands of creation in darkness."

It was all silent before Jay burst out in force laughter. "That's a crazy legend." He continued laughing, "Good thing it's just a legend, right?" He asked.

"Many legends begin in truth, Jay." Harumi broke the news to him.

"And if there is any truth to this..." Master Wu continued, "We must prepare."

"How?" Lloyd asked.

Wu looked at him, "We must warn Ninjago City. There isn't a moment to lose." He then ran out of the room and all of the Ninja, except Lloyd, followed.

"Good thing we have the Bounty back." Cole stated.

Harumi was about to follow but noticed that Lloyd didn't, "Lloyd? Come on." She called out to him.

"The Bringers of Doom." Lloyd said to himself before running towards the others with Harumi.

The Ninja entered the new Destiny's Bounty and were amazed by how similar it looked to the old Destiny's Bounty.

"No way. Look at this thing." Kai laughed as they explored the new Bounty.

"Wow."

"Whoa."

Kai admired the new place, "Huh. This looks just like the old Bounty."

Jay and Cole started messing around and started to play with the button and switches.

"They did a wonderful job." Nya admitted.

"I have to admit that I missed being in this ship." Harumi admitted while admiring the newly built Bounty, "Let's see what she's capable of." She smiled.

"Full speed ahead." Lloyd commanded, pointing forward.

Zane nodded and pulled up the switch, causing the thrusters to turn backwards. The Bounty flew backwards at an accelerating speed which caused the ninja to yell in surprise as they all fell forward. Zane turned off the switch and the Bounty stopped moving.

"What was that?" Nya asked.

Lloyd looked at Zane, "Forwards, Zane. Not backwards."

Zane pulled off the sticker, "Someone must have wired the lever wrong." He then stuck the sticker in the right way and pulled the lever down, making the Bounty speed off forward.

The Bounty sailed above the water and Ninjago City started coming into view. Harumi looked down at the ocean, "How damaged was the Bounty when the colossi destroyed it?" She asked, looking at Lloyd in particular.

Lloyd rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, "Uh... If I'm being honest, it was very damaged. Half of the ship was marooned to the First Realm while the rest of the half was destroyed here in Ninjago."

Harumi placed her elbows on the railing and rested her chin on top of her hands. "I was very bad, wasn't I?" She sighed.

Lloyd smiled and patted her back, "Yes, but you've changed."

"Yeah. You're not bad anymore, Harumi." Nya added while driving.

The white-haired girl smiled at them in thanks, "Thank you. Again."

They both shrugged off the thanks and Zane got their attention after looking at the screen, "Uh, guys? I'm picking up a lot of distress calls on UHF." He said.

"We're too late." Cole frowned.

Lloyd pointed at Nya, "Maximum speed." He ordered.

"Hold on, everyone." Nya warned them. She clicked a button but it barely even made the ship go any faster.

Harumi raised a brow, "Is this as fast as she can go?" She asked, approaching her friend at the wheel.

"Come on you, unhinged ship. Mmph!" Nya kicked the engine and the thrusters boost up to its maximum speed and they sped off towards the city.

The Bounty flew above the city at a safe distance from the black cloud that was starting to consume everything in its path. They looked around for anyone who was still not frozen into statues yet. The Commissioner and some of his officers were backed up into an alleyway.

They approached them and dropped four ropes and one ladder in front of them. The Commissioner looked up, "The ninja." He exclaimed as Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd, and Harumi slid down the ropes, "Oh, boy, are we glad to see you guys."

"Commissioner, get your officers out of here." Lloyd handed them the ladder.

The Commissioner turned to the officers, "You heard him. Move it." One by one, they all climbed up.

They all turned to look at the black cloud. Lloyd started, "Okay, let's see what this is made of."

Harumi, who was hanging on the rope a little bit over the ground, "Care to do the honors, Jay?" She asked.

"My pleasure." He flipped and shot his elemental powers, "Lightning!" It only went through the cloud.

Harumi gasped at that. She then looked at the cloud, "Oni... Destruction... Fight... Fuels..." She muttered to herself, trying to find out why their powers did nothing.

"Uh, heh." Kai chuckled nervously, "Let's see how it likes fire. Fire!" Again, it only went through, "What?!"

"Okay, everybody at the same time." Lloyd said.

They all activated their elemental powers and shot it into the black cloud at the same time, "Ninja... Go!" They yelled. But again, it was ineffective. The cloud was just absorbing their powers.

After that, they all backed up, "Our elemental powers appear to be ineffective." Zane said the obvious.

Kai looked at him, "Yeah, no kidding. What do we do?" He asked Lloyd.

Harumi looked at the cloud that was starting to get closer to them. She then yelled at the boys, "Get out of there!"

Lloyd nodded and clicked on his earpiece, "Nya, get us out of here."

"You got it." She replied through the commlink.

As soon as all the Ninja hung onto the rope, Nya started reeling them in. They also climbed to get up faster. Cole was the last one to jump on the rope and a black tentacle grabbed his foot.

He struggled to get it off, "Uh, guys... Help! It's got me!" He lost his grip and screamed as he fell to the ground. He landed on the ground with a thud. Lloyd and Harumi both jumped off and landed safely on the ground.

Lloyd threw his sword at Harumi since she was closer to the tentacle. She held it above her head and struck it down at the tendril. Something in the cloud roared in pain after that. Lloyd helped Cole up and Harumi tossed his sword back at him.

"Come on, buddy. I got ya. Time to get out of here." Cole climbed up the rope before Lloyd grabbed on its end. Harumi backed up to him and Lloyd positioned his arm around her, keeping his grip firm, "Reel us in. Quick." She did and they all got up before the black cloud consumed them.

Cole jumped onto the deck while Lloyd and Harumi hung over the edge. "We need to go save some more people." He stated.

They went around the city, saving others who weren't frozen yet. They managed to save a lot of people and they were all boarded on the Bounty.

Jay approached someone with a cup of tea, "Here. Drink this. It's good for you."

Zane was talking to the Commissioner, "Your chance of survival are increased."

Lloyd was looking over at the edge with Harumi beside him. He stared sadly at the corrupted city. Nya joined and soon, the others also came over.

"We hit it with everything we had, and it did nothing. It just went right through it." Kai gestured.

Nya pointed at the black cloud, "How are we supposed to fight something like that?"

"I-I touched it. It was colder than anything I've ever felt. And there was something inside the cloud. I think it was an Oni." Cole explained.

Lloyd frowned, "Maybe we can't fight it. But I know someone who can."

Nya looked at Kai in confusion. He just shrugged, not knowing who Lloyd meant either. But Harumi knew who he was talking about.

She looked at him in disbelief, "You don't mean him, do you?" She asked, putting more emphasis on the word 'him'. Lloyd just nodded.

One thing led to another and they set a course to Kryptarium Prison. They entered the most heavily protected wing in the prison. They entered Garmadon's cell and approached him. Lloyd came up first with Harumi behind him.

"I really didn't want to see him again." She muttered.

Garmadon had a smug look on his face, "Well, well. Look who's back." He then looked at Harumi, "Hello, daughter." He laughed.

Harumi looked like she was about to explode, but she kept her composure, "Stop with the 'daughter' thing. I'm not your daughter." She said through gritted teeth.

Lloyd moved away from that topic and asked, "How do we stop it?"

"You can't. If you were to enter the darkness, you would succumb to it. The only way to defeat an Oni is with another Oni. You need me." Garmadon pointed at himself.

Jay let out another forced laugh, "Hah. Like that's gonna happen. Ha, ha." When he saw the serious look on Lloyd's face, he added, "That's not gonna happen, is it?"

Harumi shook her head, not wanting this to happen, "I don't want to free him as much as you do," She started.

Lloyd finished her sentence, "But what choice do we have?" He looked behind everyone and shouted, "Open cell one!"

Slowly and steadily, the compartment lifted up, letting Garmadon out. The evil lord slowly started to give out a menacing laugh. Harumi looked away from him and frowned. Lloyd looked at her and placed a hand on her shoulder. He turned her to look at him and smiled. She smiled back but it quickly faded when Garmadon walked out.

This was going to be an interesting adventure.
