As always I came into work at the coffee shop, hoping to see him. He was the adorable, admittedly slightly older handsome man. Recently he became a regular coming in everyday for a black coffee and a chocolate brownie. He always read an odd looking newspaper I'd never seen before, and he'd always be on his own.

Since he had first come in I found him attractive, and now he was a regular I was desperate to know his name. 'Today is the day I'll ask him,' I thought to myself as I tied up my apron. "Hey (y/n)!" Susie said as she came in, her being on shift with me today.

"Hey," I said as I turned the sign in the window from closed to open.

"So, do you think Mr Dreamboat will come along today?" She teased and I felt my cheeks heat up.

"Shut up," I growled at Susie who laughed. She always teased me about him but admitted he was one of the more attractive regulars we got.

"You know he only comes in on the days you're working," she nudged me. I worked consistently, Tuesday to Saturday morning but I didn't know those were the only days he came in.

"Oh c'mon, that's just a coincidence," I said, admittedly hoping it wasn't

"Ask for his name today, get to know him, I'll let you sit down with him if it gets quiet," she said as our first customer came in. I just scowled at her briefly before turning my attention to the customer, the day beginning. As the morning continued I unintentionally kept a look out for my favourite regular.

By the time he came in the lunchtime rush had settled and I breathed in a deep breath before approaching him, notepad in hand. "Hello again," i said politely and he smiled his heartwarming smile. I spent a second admiring the scars on his face, particularly the one that went over his nose.

"Hello," he said kindly.

"Black coffee and a chocolate brownie?" I asked and he chuckled cutely.

"You know me so well," he said making me flustered. I got straight to work on his order and tried to build my confidence up to speak to him. I'd noticed that he didn't wear a wedding ring, but that didn't mean there wasn't someone in his life. I carried the tray with his order on over to him, him looking up from his book as I placed the tray down.

"You know it feels wrong, you come in here everyday yet I still don't know your name," I said and for a second I thought I saw him blush.

"It's Remus," he said with a small smile. "And you?"

"I'm (y/n), it's a pleasure to officially meet you," I said and he nodded in agreement. From that point on, every time he came in we ended up talking. Our conversations got longer and longer each time to the point where he invited me to sit with him during my breaks and whenever we weren't busy. Susie kept on teasing me but I didn't care, getting to know him more and more felt good.

About two weeks had passed and I was sat with him whilst we only had one other customer. "So what do you do for a living?" I asked, my hand rested on my palm.

"I'm... between jobs at the moment," he said somewhat sadly.

"Oh, I'm sorry," I muttered. "What would you like to do?"

"Honestly I'm not sure," he said, shrugging.

"I think you'd suit being a professor, you're intelligent enough after all," i praised and he blushed adorably.

"I had thought about that actually, teaching at my old school," he said.

"Oh? What school?" I asked.

"I doubt you would've heard of it," he laughed and I pouted.

"Try me," I teased.

"Okay, it's a place called Hogwarts," he said and I paused, having admittedly never heard of it. A second later I laughed, realising how funny the name of his school was.

"Hogwarts? Why on earth is it called Hogwarts?" I asked, trying to hide my laughing.

"Honestly, I have no idea," he laughed along with me, him being adorable when he smiled.

"Seriously though, I think you should go for it," i said encouragingly but his face fell slightly.

"I'm not sure... the schools up in Scotland and I've... grown to quite like London," he said, glancing between me and his half full coffee.

"I'd definitely miss seeing you in here if you went up to Scotland," I teased playfully and he chuckled. "I should probably get back to work," i gestured new customers coming in. "But see me before you go!"

"I will," he said with a smile. When I went back to the counter Susie was there with a smirk on her face, nudging me playfully on my arm having apparently been eavesdropping. She served the customers whilst I made the coffees, and I couldn't help but glance over at Remus, happy to see him smiling to himself.

- Timeskip -

It was a gloriously sunny day, and as it was my day off meaning I wouldn't see Remus. To make the most of the sun however I decided to go for a walk around Hyde Park, it being beautiful in summer. My thoughts were on Remus, having now developed proper feelings for him. I selfishly wished that I hadn't inspired him to become a professor simply because I'd miss him so much if he was to leave the country.

I sighed as I walked along a path shadowed by a row of trees. There were plenty of families having picnics and couples sitting on benches. Up ahead something - or rather someone - caught my eye. Remus was pacing slowly, his hands in his pockets and looking down at the ground. Without thinking I approached him, admittedly excited to see him. "You know if you look at the ground you miss the beauty of the world around you," I said, him looking up at me quickly but when he did so I let out a gasp. He had a large plaster on his cheek as well as scratch marks on his neck. It looked as if he'd just been in a fight. "Remus, what happened?"

"It's nothing, I'm fine," he said, his voice hoarse.

"Are you sure? You didn't get into a fight with anyone did you?" I asked quickly and he laughed.

"Of course not, I just fell down the stairs in my apartment," he said but I had a feeling he was lying. I thought it was best not to press on it, as I was sure he would've told me if he wanted me to know. "So what brings you here?"

"Oh I love coming to Hyde Park on my days off, it's so relaxing, I could sit here for hours," i said. "What about you?"

"I just needed to get out of my place for a bit," he said. "Care for a walk?"

"Yeah of course!" I said happily, the two of us walking side by side in comfortable silence. It made me wonder whether we looked like a couple to other people passing, and the thought made me smile. "Hey Remus? How come I never see you with any friends? You always seem to be on your own," I pointed out and his expression turned slightly solemn.

"My friends died a few years ago," he mumbled and my heart stopped.

"O-oh Remus, I'm so sorry," I said, feeling guilty. He was silent for a moment, looking deep in thought. I was scared I had brought back horrible memories, memories he'd possibly spent the last few years trying to bury. "Really, I am sorry-,"

"It's okay, you weren't to know," he said, surprising me by looking up at me with a smile. "These past few years without them have been pretty lonely, that's why I'm thankful for you (y/n), you're the first proper friend I've had since they passed away."

"Really?" I asked eagerly and he nodded. "If you don't mind me asking... how did they die? I understand if you don't want to talk about it though Remus-,"

"It's okay, it might feel good to talk about it to a friend," he mumbled apparently to himself. We came across a spare bench and together we sat, me looking at him in anticipation. "Lily and James were... murdered by a criminal," he said and my mouth dropped open in horror. My friend Peter died the same night... and my other Sirius was convicted of it and went to prison."

It was a story I never expected. Remus was leant back against the bench, looking up at the trees that sheltered us, the sun threatening to peek through. Without really thinking I reached out and placed my hand on top of his. He looked at me quickly, and I smiled sweetly at him. I didn't doubt that people he knew had sent him many pity-filled looks whenever they saw him, so the last thing I wanted to do was be like them.

"What were they like?" I asked, etching closer to him. He looked surprised by my question but the genuine intrigue on my face must've been enough to convince him that I really cared, as he looked down at our entwined hands.

"Troublesome," he chuckled before diving into stories about the adventures they had. "We shared a dorm room, James, Sirius, Peter and I. James and Sirius were like brothers, inseparable and always getting into trouble. They enjoyed winding our po- I mean our chemistry teacher up," he said. "Hogwarts had so many secret passageways and rooms, we spent years creating a map of the place so only we knew where they were," he said, reminiscing on his school years.

As he spoke I saw the sparkle in his brown eyes come back, so I kept up the conversation being admittedly intrigued by his past. He had mentioned a few things that confused me including a Forbidden Forest, a 'bludger' and what I assumed was a subject called Transfigurations. Still I nodded along and listened, feeling glad that he was somewhat back to normal.

"Sorry, I've been talking for so long," he rubbed the back of his head.

"No it's okay, it's fascinating, but I must admit I don't know what a 'bludger' is," I said and Remus' eyes widened.

"E-er... it's just a ball... that's it," he said but judging by the way he spoke he was hiding something. I shook it off and stood up, my stomach rumbling slightly as we'd been sat on that bench for hours despite it feeling as though it was a couple minutes.

"Fancy getting something to eat? I want to hear more of this bizarre school of yours," I chuckled.

"Yeah, yeah okay," he smiled adorably, there being a sparkle in his brown eyes. I had a feeling that perhaps he hadn't had the opportunity to talk like this since his friends passed away, and it made me feel special. We clicked perfectly, conversation between us never ceasing throughout the entirety of the day. I learnt that he was thirty-one, but he definitely didn't look it despite all the scars on his face. The scars were something I wanted to ask him about but I also didn't want to make him uncomfortable so I held my tongue when it came to that particular topic.

By the end of the night it felt as though I had become a proper friend of his, and that we'd been friends for much longer than just the last couple of weeks. I found myself staring at him a lot though, my feelings for him threatening to interrupt the flow of conversation we had going. He was gentlemanly enough to walk me back to my apartment once the evening was over, but as I was at work the next day he assured me he'd be in to see me. The fact he said he'd come in to specifically see me as opposed to have a coffee and a slice of brownie made me feel warm inside, and seeing his sweet smile as he waved goodbye made me want to melt.

As soon as I shut the door to my flat I found myself sliding down it, smiling uncontrollably to myself. It was fair to say that I had now truly fallen for him.

- The Next Day -

"And that's when I realised I truly had fallen for him," I had just finished explaining everything that happened the day previous to Susie who couldn't help but tease me. I didn't care though, I was just so excited to see him again.

"So he's coming in today just to see you, huh?" Susie teased but I didn't care, nodding happily. "Well try not to embarrass yourself in front of him."

"I think if I was going to I would've done it by now. It just feels so right, being with him," I said and Susie 'aw'ed. The first customer of the day entered and I looked over eagerly but it wasn't Remus. A few more customers came in, keeping us busy but my mind was always on Remus. My excitement to see him only made the day go slower, and I didn't want to take a break incase I missed him.

The cafe had quietened down but there was still no sign of him. "Ugh, Susie when is he going to show up! He said he'd come see me today!" I whined, having not heard the door open.

"Er..." she pointed over my shoulder and I turned quickly to see Remus standing there with a raised eyebrow.

"R-Remus!" I felt my cheeks heat up and he chuckled.

"Hello," he said with his charming smile.

"Why don't you take your break once you've finished his order?" Susie nudged my arm playfully and I rolled my eyes but happily accepted. Together Remus and I headed over to a spare table and I noticed he didn't have his funny newspaper with him today.

"Where's the Daily Prophet?" I asked.

"I didn't fancy it today, I - er - wanted to sit and chat with you instead," he said somewhat nervously but my heart skipped several beats. "I really enjoyed yesterday, it was nice to open up to someone about everything and I wondered if you were free after work to go on another walk?" He asked and my eyes widened.

"Absolutely! I'll have to go back to my flat to change out of this uniform but yes, yes I'd like that," I agreed happily and he smiled again. We shared the brownie he ordered and chatted happily away, my break flying by annoyingly quickly.

"I'll pick you up from your flat at about 19:00?" He asked and I nodded, trying desperately to hide the bright smile that threatened to appear on my face.

"Absolutely, can't wait," I said and smiled before waving and leaving the coffee shop.

"So you now have a date planned hm?" Susie teased as I went behind the counter.

"I-it's not a date!" I said quickly but secretly hoping it was. "He's said that he likes having a friend to talk to, so I know that's all I am to him... I don't mind though, if it means I get to see him."

"Won't it get too difficult for you though? I mean if you have feelings but he doesn't reciprocate, it can't be easy," Susie pointed out and I sighed.

"Maybe I can make him fall for me," I chuckled, a customer then interrupting our gossiping.

As expected I thought about Remus all afternoon, and when I was home I spent ages deciding what to wear. Nerves were flooding my body as I wondered what he thought this night was - we had known each other for a while now, he had invited me to sit with him during my breaks multiple times, we'd met up outside of work and were now about to go out for drinks together. I hoped it was more than just friendship, but I didn't want to get too excited about the thought so I tried to remain as calm as possible.

Just as I had finished my make up I heard a knock on my door and quickly presented myself, realising that perhaps I looked a little too desperate. He looked incredibly handsome dressed in a smart shirt, as usually I'd see him in just jumpers, creased shirts or cardigans matched with scruffy corduroy trousers. It made me think that perhaps he had put in an effort to try and impress me... but I wasn't sure whether I was just thinking too much into it.

Just like it was yesterday when we were walking through Hyde Park and having a meal together, it felt so comfortable and right. We talked non-stop, clearly loving each others company which satisfied me greatly. We had a good laugh, he bought me a few drinks and we both ended up getting a little tipsy.

Due to our tipsy state we didn't realise how long we had been at the bar until the barman came around to tell us that they were closing. "I didn't realise how late it had gotten," I admitted as we walked through the cold streets of London.

"Me too, sorry for keeping you out so late," he said but I shook my head.

"It was fun, I like being with you," I admitted and a blush came to his cheeks. Once again he walked me back o my flat but as soon as we were at the door I realised that the night was over, despite not wanting it to be.

"Make sure to rest," Remus said with a smile. "I'll see you soon (y/n)-,"

"Wait!" I stopped him, grabbing his shirt sleeve. He looked back at me and gulped. "I-I don't want this night to be over..." I admitted. His chest rose and fell a little quicker signifying an increase in his breathing, and I felt a little embarrassed at my statement, despite it being true. "I-I really like being with you... Remus..."

I averted my eyes but was shocked when I felt his hand on my cheek, moving my head so that I had no choice but to look at him. "I like being with you too," he whispered and my heart rate increased dramatically. I bit my lip and noticed his eyes glance down at them, and just like magnets we pulled each other in and slammed them together.

Fireworks exploded inside of me as our lips moved against each others in perfect sync, his arms wrapping themselves around my waist tightly. He pinned be to my front door, taking my keys from my hand and unlocking the door himself. We tumbled inside and I quickly tried to prepare myself for what I knew was coming.
