~part 9~

"Hey! Reem? What's up baby?" Roshni ran after me as I buried my head in my knees.

"Go away." I said stubbornly.

"What happened at the party?" She asked worriedly.

I looked up at her, expecting her to fill my ears about Sidd but she just rested a hand on my shoulder instead.

I shrugged it off.

"Well, I guess you don't want to tell me then...." she turned to go when I clutched her wrist.

"I have to ask you something."

"What?" She asked in confusion.

"Who is Tunisha?" I asked rather bluntly. Uncomfortableness rose amongst us but I was firm with my eyes which made her answer.

"Erm, why do - you want to ....."

"Who. Is. Tunisha?"

"A girl." Roshni sighed and went over to the kitchen, cutting a cucumber while I just sat there with mascara splotched over my eyes.

"Why aren't you telling me when I can help you?"

She stopped and looked up at me in surprise.

"Help with what? Reem why are you being so weird today!?"

"I know what happened between you and her."

"I don't care - it's none of your business."

"Sidd is."

Silence.

"Why do you care about him so much, huh? He picks up one little paper for you and you go to every party he invites you to?!"

"Roshni you're getting off p....." I found myself fuming.

"No I'm not. If whatever happened between Tunisha and me is the point, tell me what's going on between you and Sidd? Now why you silent bruh?"

"There's nothing going on between us!"

"Look, I don't want to argue with one person who I actually haven't yet broken up with!" She blurted out.

I blinked at her.

"My life sucks." She whispered.

She kicked her slippers off her toes and plonked herself down on a sofa, curling up her legs.

"Why?" I asked in a dumbfounded way.

"No one likes me."

"I do."

"Well, apart from you."

"Is one person not important?" I asked her questioningly.

"Haha, good joke - I'm smart enough to answer at least one question someone asks me. One person is nothing compared to the tons I've argued with."

"Why do you keep doubting yourself?"

"Oh of course, I forgot I'm not even allowed to doubt myself because for all I know, my right to ask questions has been snatched because no-one ever knows the answers."

Anxiety filled my bare stomach as I heard her voice turning shaky like she was about to cry and her eyes couldn't meet mine.

She leaned back her head, relying on gravity to hold back the tears and closed her eyes.

Now wasn't the right time to ask her anything about Tunisha.

After a few minutes of silence and sheer anticipation, I heard her sniff quickly.

"Anyways, goodnight." She got up and I saw the light being switched off in her room.

Darkness surrounded me.

Psychology lesson:

"Good morning students, please put the title in your notebooks." Professor Grime stood wearing a clean white lab coat, waiting to scold the late students.

"Who else is late?"

"Oh, Roshni, Professor." I said; the previous night's incidents flashed back in my mind.

"Where is she?"

"She doesn't feel well Professor." A guy walked in, ruffling his hair and was wearing a casual hoodie.

"Mr Khan, go and change into something appropriate, I do not expect an eighteen year old to walk in wearing an Adidum hoodie!"

The whole class pretended to cough as they had to find a way to let their laughter out without the professor getting suspicious!

Everyone started smiling and coughing while I rolled my eyes at Jannat who played along with the joke and coughed right in my face.

"Adidum Reem, Adidum! She can't even read oh my lord. It's adidas."

I ignored everyone and continued my writing.

"Can I borrow your notes thanks." A guy snatched my textbook out of my hands.

"Um excuse me, I never said you could have it."

The guy was the same dude in the 'adidum' hoodie, as per our professor.

"Shut up." He said and his friends sitting around us all laughed which made me angrier than ever!

How dare he!

"What's your name?" I asked him calmly.

"Faisal, Faisal Khan." He smirked and offered a hand.

I got up and marched straight to the the professor.

"Professor! Faisal is misbehaving with me! He hurt me!" I pointed at him and his friends immediately lowered their heads to work while Faisal eyed us angrily.

"MR KHAN! OUT." The professor thrust an arm towards the door and her eyes could almost bulge out in fury.

Faisal stormed out of the room, giving me a death stare and kicking a chair as he went.

"Urgh! Children these days." I saw the professor shake her head.

I began feeling regretful now.

As the bell went for break time, I slowly packed up my stuff and headed towards the door.

Suddenly, a pair of angry eyes were looking into mine.

"How DARE you complain to the teacher about me!? Do you even know who I am?" It was Faisal.

A huge crowd gathered around and people looked at us as they walked past.

"Faisal what on earth??" Jannat sped up to me and hurried me out of the commotion.

"You don't want to be enemies with Faisal." She said, whispering in a corner.

"He was so rude though!"

"Ignore! Just - please, he's my friend and if he gets angry at you I won't be able to defend you."

"Oh, so you're taking sides and not supporting the truth?"

She sighed. "Anyways, let's go back to our dorm rooms."

What had gotten into everyone? Somehow, the good was turning into evil....
