~part 26~

"Sir! We found this." An investigator picked up a small metal box from inside the cushion he had torn, and walked up to Faisal, carrying the box tightly in his gloved hands.

"Well well, what do we have here?" Faisal smirked and slowly opened the lid while watching Tunisha's neutral face to his surprise.

"Faisal, I think you're taking this too far." I went over to him and said quietly.

He didn't take his gaze off me, even while opening the box in his hands. He took out a small, curved object and pouted.

My hand fell over my mouth as I gasped in surprise.

"A bullet!" I screamed, turning to Tunisha questioningly.

She stood gulping in anxiety and shook her head in disapproval.

"I - I don't know how that got there!" She had gone red and Faisal circled around her slowly, making her even more uncomfortable.

She lowered her gaze and looked side to side in sheer worry.

She sobbed silently.

My elbow twitched as I began to go near her, but something in my mind held me back.

"Oh, so now you don't trust me anymore?" Tunisha watched me and said emotionally; her voice shaking like anything.

"No, it's not that - I just..." I stopped, not wanting to talk to her.

Her swollen eyes looked at me in hopelessness.

"You're going to commit injustice to me just like you did to my dad!" She screamed as she saw Faisal ordering a raid officer to arrest her.

Her loose hair strands had stuck to her sweaty forehead and her bun was drooping down her red kurta. The officer grabbed her hands behind her back as she tried to escape and she sobbed even more wildly.

"Faisal, please...." I begged him.

He ignored me and watched the scene in front of us pitilessly.

Suddenly, to our horror, the officer let go of Tunisha's handcuffs around her hands and spun her around so she landed precisely under his arm which was wrapped around her shoulder protectively.

The officer pulled back the hood over his face and laughed.

It was Sumedh.

To my utter shock, Tunisha's mourning face vanished and she raised an eyebrow, straightening up the wrinkles on her forehead and smirking cruelly.

She laughed like a witch.

Faisal's eyes widened in fury.

"What do you have to say, Mr Khan?" She giggled, pouting her lips in a steep smile.

I watched her helplessly.

"What will he say? Now only us two will speak - and they will listen." Sumedh tried to lean into the crook of her neck for an intimate moment.

"When you came in, we offered you a glass of wine in which Tunisha had cleverly mixed a sleeping potion. We knew you would refuse some wine, but luck was on our side with the water."

I gasped and felt like my insides were melting.

She rolled her eyes and pushed him away, facing us again with her shoulders drawn back neatly, while I dropped mine and eyed them reluctantly.

She drew out her gun from her belt strapped around her slick stomach and pointed it at Faisal who just stood still, staring into the midst of the gun hole.

"Why aren't you saying anything!" I whispered to him.

Tunisha laughed even more.

"Go on. Speak - say your last wish before we turn you both into ashes. Anyway, your time is almost up with the poisonous sleeping potion.

"I can't believe you did this. We helped you so much and - and you do this to us?" I felt the saltiness of my tears pricking my gums.

"You should never trust anyone, Reem darling. The world can never be yours." She cooed.

As she said this, a few more men came either side of her and pointed their guns at us.

She pulled the trigger.

"Wait." Faisal said calmly.

I stared at him widely.

"I have something to say."

Sumedh looked at his watch. "Precisely one minute."

"I knew your plan." He said, drawing up a smile in the corner of his mouth.

Tunisha and Sumedh exchanged glances in confusion.

"S..so what - you still consumed the solution?" Tunisha faked an unsure laugh.

Faisal began tossing his head backwards and laughed.

I looked back and forth, eyeing Tunisha and Sumedh who were standing there, with their guns beside their thighs.

"Guys, what is actually even going on?" I interrupted.

"Your plan was smart, but mine was even smarter." He began.

"The substance which you were planning to give me was no other than the substance you mixed in Sidd's drink. The one that made him go into hospital."

Tunisha gulped.

"I also knew, that you purposely planned the raid with Sumedh being an officer so you could try and attack me, because the missed call you left at the station said it all Sumedh. I heard that call the other day, and soon enough I recognized your voice going into voicemail. It said: I've planned the attack on Faisal. I'm going into the costume area now. I knew he was pretending to be with us, so when you offered me the drink, I added Sodium Bicarbonate which completely cleared the effect of the poison. I'm not infected; I'm not going to die."

Suddenly, someone walked in through the back door.

"SIDD!" I screamed and hugged him abruptly.
I felt a smile drawing upon my face.

"Now would you like me to talk or do you want to explain yourself before your sentence?" Sidd insisted, walking beside Faisal.

Tunisha exhaled heavily.

"Tell them, the history of our fathers' enmity, how Daveen Sharma and Daveed Sharma fought, shot, killed and murdered people for this illegal business you were allegedly continuing." Sidd roared.

Tunisha shook with fear at the sound of him.

"D-Daveed Sharma was - was my father and... he tried to snatch your father, Daveen Sharma's business of alcoholism. They were brothers." She said reluctantly.

This story was taking shape.

"When my father tried to carry out an attack on Sidd's father, he did surely kill him, but got himself killed in the process. Ever since that day, I vowed to avenge his death by his younger generations to come. As soon as I found out Reem was living with you, I made good friends with her so I could romance you and woo you into my plan." She lowered her gaze and tried shaking out of the grip of two inspectors.

Wait - so she never liked him!? He's all mine now?! Oh my lord, what am I saying.

"How are you out of hospital so quickly!?" I turned to Sidd.

"I never consumed the pill. I overhead Tunisha and Sumedh one night, when I decided to contact Faisal and we worked on trying to make a plan that appeared successful in Tunisha's eyes. She actually thought her plan had worked but it hadn't. I just used expired mayonnaise for the touch up." He winked.

I laughed and squeezed his arm in happiness.

He looked down and I let go quickly, realizing what I had done.

Tunisha scrunched up her face.

"Why did you have to come to my room that night?" She spat in Sumedh's face with gritted teeth.

"Haha, no point discussing that now!" Sidd smirked and the inspectors dragged them away.

"I swear, f*** you." Sumedh raised his middle finger.

Sidd sunk his hands into his pockets and smiled contentedly.

I turned to him.

"Thanks." I blinked softly.

"For what?" He shrugged with a chuckle.

"For not telling me all this." I lowered my gaze and laughed shyly.

He narrowed his eyes and smirked. "Yeah that's true, you are a chatter box aren't you?" He teased.

We both laughed, shuffling our feet in awkwardness.

"Well well, another mystery solved I guess?!" Faisal came up to us and thumped Sidd on the back while wrapping an arm round my shoulder.

I smiled.
