~part 10~

I sat with my head buried in the 'crime detective' textbook; my forehead wrinkled in thought and I sat pondering over the answers to some of the questions.

"That just can't be right! I got a different answer to what this book says and I'm bloody sure about this bloody question!"

I thumped my hand on the desk in frustration when Roshni came bounding up to me.

"YAYYYYY we get graduated soon!"

"You mean next month...." I rolled my eyes at her enthusiasm.

It had already been four years since college and now it was time to graduate.

One month left to tidy up everything here, and also to achieve my aim: Roshni and Tunisha's friendship.

It had been three years since I wanted to help, and to see them together but unfortunately that never happened, because of one girl called Jannat.

I was more confident about myself now; I had become good friends with Faisal over the time, but sometimes I still cringe at that incident that happened between us. He's a cool kid and I'm a bitchy brat, but who cares? We're friends now, differences aside.

"Hey Reem, wanna have a drink or two tonight?" Jannat barged through the door of our dorm and came strutting in with Vishal who was busy wrapping his hand around her waist.

She kissed him.

"Oops! Excuse us," she flicked her hair and leant on one foot temptingly showing me a beer can.

"You know I don't drink."

"Since when did you turn all.... hippy and catty?" Roshni asked her, placing herself beside me. I didn't move at all, except kept sitting in my chair like nothing had happened.

"No babes, time turned me, I didn't." She grabbed a bottle opener and opened her own and Vishal's bottle. We saw them cheering their drinks as a little gesture which annoyed me like hell.

"Well, I don't have much time to waste like that - I have to study. Gotta catch those grades you know!" I taunted.

She flicked her hair as if her self respect had been targeted, which it had fortunately; by me.

She slammed the door as she went and me and Roshni glanced at each other.

"She really has changed hasn't she?" Roshni asked me softly, wearing her loose pajamas.

"What can she do if her boyfriend does drugs lol?" I smirked and shook my head in disapproval.

"His friends are all alcoholics ain't they?" She asked me, smiling slightly.

"Sidd is. I don't know about the others." I did a short, slow movement of biting my apple.

Roshni pulled back the chair next to me and sat herself down.

"You liked him didn't you?"

I smiled, not looking up from my textbook.

"Time changes everything, didn't you hear? It's been said from our wise friend Jannat who is a victim of this herself." I smirked in anxiety.

Roshni sighed.

"Funny how the people we think are the angels turn out to be the ones who stab us in the back."

I looked up at her.

People stab you in your back and then ask why you're bleeding.

Jannat's statement.

"She's fake." I whispered, shivering at the thought.

"What?" Roshni asked. "You're studying crime for god's sake - don't get carried away with personal life!" She sighed.

"Did you see how she behaved with us over the years? She took advantage of us and..."

"Alright calm down, you're studying crime but that doesn't mean you're some high-tech investigator now, don't think about Jannat - she can't be our friend ever again."

I didn't reply, instead - I just stared out of the kitchen window as our dorm was right in the corner of the building.

"I'm sorry Roshni."

"For what?" She laughed.

"At the start I used to think you were weird."

A burst of laughter from her.

"Don't worry - everyone thinks that."

"You're not weirder than Jannat."

"Ahh, yes - you really are clever."

We laughed at this remark which lightened up the mood.

"Anyways, go to sleep, it's late now. We've got our exam tomorrow."

"Yes."

The lights turned off and we slept, dreaming of good times....

I got up the next morning with a heavy head. A splash of water normally did the trick.

I slinked towards the clock and blinked at it a few times to see clearly.

Oh. My. Freaking. ****

"ROSHNIIIIIIIIIIIII!"

"Yeah...." she called back, lying on her stomach with a muffed voice.

"ITS 8:30!!!!!!!!"

She walked up to me and we knew the signal.

"ARGHHHHHHHH." We both screamed at the same time.

I had just about managed to pull my trousers up (sorta), when Roshni dragged me out of the dorm and we ran towards the classroom.

We were panting and panting but in the corridor, just when we were about to reach, Roshni stopped at the fire alarm.

"Break the glass for alarm." It said.

Roshni looked at it and looked at a confused me who was just waiting to see what she would do next.

"Should we?" She asked with a heavy breath.

An anxious but anticipating smile drew up on my face.

"Should we?"

"Should we....?"

"Should we?"

"Yes."

She picked up the hammer on top and crashed it.

A raging alarm followed.

Suddenly, classes of students and teachers poured out from their rooms into the corridors while we just stood there, kind of hanging around.

"What the heck was that for?!" I was in awe but my mouth was hanging.

"We would have been late for our exam!"

"But...."

"NO IFS AND BUTS AND JUST RUN REEM!"

"God, chill! What's gonna happen when they find out it was a false alarm - created by us!" I gasped at the thought.

"SHUT UP AND PRETEND." Roshni screamed through the panic of all the people.

Just while I was running, I saw a drunk person wobbling down the stairs while everyone pushed past him.

My running slowed down as I stopped to glimpse at him.

My heart pace was unmeasurable.

It was Sidd.
