chapter 13

Rising sun was always a blissful sight to watch. The natural soothing breeze in morning with the peaceful atmosphere far from the crowd was a bonus to the human beings who wish to have their peace. Yet that morning was still waiting for Neil who was sleeping like log. Prerna had to pour a glass of chilled water on him, which kept near by table.

"Save me, someone please save me. I just fell in pacific ocean."Neil woke up all by screaming aloud.

"Get back to reality, son. No wonder you are an idiot!"

"Mom!" Neil whined. "Not you too; that too in early morning of a Sunday."

"it's 9 AM."Prerna huffed.

"Where are Arjun? I don't see him in home." She further asked.

"Holy shit. By this time, Arjun should be here. Is he still unconscious or did he confess and got trashed!!!! I am going to be crazy because of this man." Neil yanked out some of his hair in worry. He sighed thinking about Rajiv. Was he really his brother or not?!!

"Beta, are you all right? Why are you talking to yourself now? Exactly how horrific nightmare you saw?" Prerna bombarded her cues, which Neil thought they were ready to blast him.

"I am alright mom. What can happen to me even?" He questioned himself rather than answering with an awkward chuckle.

"You are hiding something which is not you?"

"Not at all."

Before their pretty conversation went on the doorbell buzzed making them stop what they were on.

"Arjun must be here." Neil thought and went to open the door.Upon seeing the intruder his eyes lost the left out sleepiness. He politely asked, "please come in. Actually I didn't expect you here."

"Who is here?" Prerna asked coming in living room.

"He is the one, whose project we are working on. Mr. Singhania." Neil stated.

"Oh! Don't be so formal. It is kind of awkward for me." Sourav replied with a pleasant smile and touched Prerna's feet, which obviously she didn't expect.

"Sorry for coming without prior information, but Radhika told me it is urgent."Sourav said but didn't let away everything while he was completely aware for why he was there.

Sourav wanted to know exactly the depth of things if they were real family of Rajiv or not. He couldn't take any chances regarding his little brother or more appropriate he cared for him as his own kid. In fact he would be the happiest if Neil would be Rajiv family. What he listened from Radhika he interpreted that Neil was a genuine guy, even he felt so. But still?

"Chasini said? But what it could be?" Neil got suddenly confused ; might be perplexed what it could be.

"Then it must not be important. I should leave now."Sourav got up to leave, right then Neil remembered that Radhika told him, if anyone could help him regarding Rajiv then that would be Sourav.

"Oh ! My bad I remembered. Can you please tell us about Rajiv. I mean your ..." Neil couldn't say further while looking on hopefully.

"Does this young man know about my son?" Prerna intervened after hearing Rajiv's name. Her state of mind reflected on her face, which made Sourav to believe her.

"As you insist, I will tell you everything. Nevertheless, Rajiv told me he had lost his only family, his father few years ago. He never talked about his mother or anyone." Sourav said calmly.

"Oh. I understand. But can you tell us from beginning."

"Yeah. Sure."

In his high school grade, Sourav went for his NCC camp training to woods of Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. One day while collecting dry woods for cooking purpose, he went a little bit away from tent. Near the streamside, he discovered a kid around 4 or 5 lied being little bruised, being unconscious. He immediately took him to their camp area. His teachers did primary care, which somehow made the kid back to his senses; but the trauma, which imprinted in his mind in that tender age made him numb.

Later, next day one of his teacher took the kid to city. After confirming, he handed the kid to local's hub who cared for orphans. Upon their coming back from camp, all of them stood at railway station waiting for the train to leave for destination. Sourav felt someone pulling his hand. He was shocked to see the kid whom his teacher left at care centre was now begging. His teacher was also shocked.

"why are you doing this?" Sourav asked in a concerned voice.

"They told me to do so, else they won't feed me. I am hungry bhaiya." Tears oozed out from his eyes and literally, he started crying. Sourav always felt an instant connection with thekid since he found him.

"Okay, don't cry. I will feed you." That made him more in tears.

"What do you want dear?" He asked lovingly.

"Take me with you. Momma, bhai are bad."

That was the first and last time he took name of his mother and brother. Though Sourav was not this much successful then, still he took kid with him.

After a medical check up doctor told, the kid might be through some trauma, which made him forget many things from before. So it's better to let things in its way. From that day, they were together until now.

Sourav said everything how he got Rajiv omitting the part of his struggle, which he didn't want to share with people whom he barely knew.

"Yes, Priya was a big help to Rajiv. In fact they both made each other smile. The perfect sibling bond by soul. Few years before Rajiv came and said he met his father for last time. That's all I know."Sourav completed, by that time Prerna was a crying mess.

"My kid suffered a lot. I knew he is my son. I told you before, how couldn't a mother recognise her child?" Prerna said in between her crying.

"Are you sure?"

"My brother was snatched away from us exactly at the age of 4 when we visited Shivpuri. Sadly the person who took him away was my so called father." Neil replied stoic, the needed things without getting deep into it.

"okay." Sourav said assuring. No matter what, he never wanted to pressurize a person to share his secret, which they badly wanted to hide.

"Anyway we need to know more. So come with us to Rishikesh for sight shoot. We can do both things at once." Sourav got up to leave and patted Neil before going out.

" My son must be hating me. I am a failed mother." Prerna sobbed.

"Mom, don't worry. We will find a way. I promise you, if he is my brother, he will be back to us. We will tell him the truth. I am sure he will understand. Trust me." Neil assured while embraced his mother affectionately.

Manya was fuming around thinking her meeting with Ankush. She was annoyed that Ankush wanted to meet her , because of Priya. She had personally no vendetta against her but she was practically irked that the attention she wished from Ankush was all given to Priya.

"what happened to you? You went out with so much joy." Samaira asked.

"Nothing happened."

"Angry enough. Are you sure nothing happened?"

"Ankush wanted me help him regarding your friendship with Arjun. He wanted me to show your friendship which you have or not, I don't know, to Priya." Manya spat frustrated.

"What? But why?" Samaira was literally perplexed of how things turned out to be.

"Because he wanted Priya's happiness which I am least interested about."

"Ooh..now I understand." Samaira said thoughtfully.

"What you understand? Leave that, you have to go Rishikesh for sightseeing."

"Really. I need to get ready now." Samaira said excitedly getting up all of a sudden. She was happy and Manya was happy for her sister too. But her thought was could she be that much happy ever?

"Why don't you accompany me Manny?" Samaira asked suddenly. Manya gave her a credulous look thinking if her sister gone crazy.

"You may find what you don't want to lose. Trust your heart and come with me. I hope you understand what I meant." Samaira said while Manya nodded.

"I should clear the things rather living with hopes. I will do this time now."Manya thought and her kids automatically closed down without any hesitation.

By the time Arjun returned Neil was already sobered up.In fact he was literally shocked hearing Arjun was humming, a song might be andhis mood was exceptionally pleasant. Something might happen which made him to behave so out of box.

"Your highness, What's happened? Did your proposal accepted?" Neil asked putting his hand on Arjun's shoulder.

"Proposal? Which proposal you are talking about?" Arjun asked frowning.

"Then what about your last night blabber?" Neil scratched his chin as if he was in deep thoughts. "Then why are you so happy?"

"Because I am going to sightseeing withRadhika." Arjun chimed again.

"Don't do that man. It doesn't suit you." Neil scrunched his nose.

"What?"

"That your humming thing."

"Whatever!" Arjun just shrugged off.

"Should I accompany you?" Neil raised his brows keeping a serious face.

"No." Arjun shouted immediately.

"Yes. I don't believe that you are my friend." Neil gave a fake weep.

"Idiot. Why can't you be like your brother and let me do things in my way."Arjun just stated thing casually but Neil's mood suddenly dropped hearing his brother thing.

"What happened? I was just kidding." Arjun asked concerned.

"Nothing. I am just jumbled up from morning. Everything is just blurred." Neil explained what happened before.

"What is there to worry about? I know your capabilities; you can make Rajiv understand the truth. I trust you."

"Tell me one thing, Arjun, How can you be so confident about my brother?"

"Because he is mature, warm hearted and fun loving. Just like you."

"Did you just praise me?"

"No , I didn't."

"Nah..you said just like me. After all my brother he is." Neil smiled showing his dimple. Arjun felt kind of relaxed seeing Neil happy.

Radhika was waiting for cab to go Rishikesh. The thing that irked her more was Rajiv did things exactly he said. He literally left her alone while she was sleeping. On top of it, she couldn't believe her own brother and Sourav too ditched her. It was not too late, for time 6:12 AM and everybody left.

"I will see each of them once I reached home. Traitors." She murmured clenching her teeth.

Her phone beeped with new notification. She opened her telegram to saw that was from, Rajiv which made her eyes go wide.

'Sweetheart, enjoy your ride with Arjun. He is on his way to you. I think he didn't sleep in night due to excitement. Torture him as much as possible. See you, later. Love you.'

"Ungrateful Jerk." She typed but couldn't send, because of sudden halting of vehicle just two feet away from her. In addition, another just behind it.

"What the hell. Such recklessness." She was going to give some sense to drivers; she found the second one was the car, which she booked. Still after giving two liner comments, she told the driver to help her with luggage.

Radhika sat down comfortably on backseat, when she heard the right side door was unlocked. She definitely yelled, but not loosing her sense, " Mr. Mehera, What are you doing here?"

"To do the job what I was assigned. Escorting my lady." Arjun said with a smile. Though he wanted to argue about her endearment Mr. Mehera, he pushed that away for later.

Radhika sighed being frustrated and annoyed. Why couldn't people just let her alone? She mentally prepared a weapon to throw at Rajiv once she reached.

"As far I remembered, I clearly said I am not coming with you." She said sternly yet with firmness.

"Then let me come with you."

"What is the difference?" She was already in bad mood and he was adding fuel more.

"Simple, That you are not interested to come with me. But I am very much interested to go with you. So we can do in reverse." Arjun stated as if they were chuddy buddies and never had any ambiguity.

"Are you crazy?"

"Yes. That is exclusively for you." He stated and she didn't know what to reply.

Radhika didn't say anything and went to her cab. Arjun stopped her by holding her arm, "please, I am begging you. If you come with me, my sister may talk with me. II really miss my sister very much. You promised to help me. If not for me, at least for di."

Arjun knew he should not play that emotional card with her. But he was helpless too. He somehow knew she wouldn't come with him, because of her stubbornness. If he would not get chance, how could even he rectify his deeds? All he wanted a chance. But that didn't mean what he said was lie. He also wanted his sister as much he wanted Radhika. Then situation made him to do such. Manipulation sometimes did help, wasn't it?

"Get my luggage back." She ordered and stomped her foot while moving forward without looking back.

Arjun could not believe she agreed, she must love his sister very much. He happily shifted all her bag-packs to his SUV. But his smile dropped once, when he saw her sitting in back seat. He looked at his passenger seat and sighed.

"I am coming with you, that's too much for me. Don't even ask more." She said and closed her eyes resting her head on back.

"This is going to be long way." Arjun sighed, but glad that she was with him.

In between his drive, mostly Arjun was looking back either directly or through mirror. He recalled his previous sightseeing to Lonavala with her. She was very lively and cheerful then, a fresh breathe. But everything changed, so drastically, she was there but that jolliness missed. That constant nagging which once irritated him, was missing which was equally irritating now. She sat silently looking outside the window as if he did not exist for her.

He coughed to gain her attention. But no response. But a reply came, surely, " do you grow a new habit of driving by looking back and drive forward?"

"What?"

"Look ahead."

"mmm...you know it's quite boring if we go this silently?" He started whatever to start a conversation.

"You can dance on your seat, I have no objection. May be throwing things outside help you."Radhika replied as genuine she could.

'Throwing things?' He remembered he threw whatever she touched in last trip. A gentle smile lingered in his face. So she remembered everything, but shut down herself.

"You like to listen songs. Let me play some." He started music button, making her look at him in awe.

'om jai Jagdish hare....' The first chant played. He wasn't a whole believer to had such songs. He was shocked literally and played next one.

'om bakratunda mahakaya ...'

Next

'Om Tryambakam Yajamahe...'

Stop.

"What the hell was happening?"

He literally stopped his juke box in confusion and fury.He was constantly rubbing his forehead.

"By the way, nice choice of hymns. I don't know you have that devotion thing in you. Great." Radhika couldn't said more as she was starting to laugh like maniac. She believed God, but from Arjun's juke Box those things seems alien to her and the expression Arjun was giving hilarious. As if he was caught in between swords.

The thing, which mattered him was the awkwardness before, shooed away. He thanked Neil mentally who put those CDs to irritate him.He was lost in her laughter. His trance broke once he felt her hand on his, on steering and she shouted him to stop. He immediately put brake, when she mumbled in shock, "did we hit the kid? Oh god, no."
