It had been three weeks since Poe's arrival on Mandalore. For some reason, it felt like ages since he stepped foot on the planet. In a good way, surprisingly.
He spent most of the day caring for Grogu while the Mand'alor was gone, which was surprising seeing as Din used to not trust the pilot much around his son.
Poe even had time in between to visit Iva and earn something similar to an armorer apprenticeship which mainly consisted of him being somewhat of a lackey who barely did anything of consequence. Still, he felt important and that was what mattered.
He still found himself staring longingly at the blue sky whenever he was outside. It was something he quickly reprimanded himself for every time he did it, distracting himself before it could happen again.
Din was more or less alright. Poe was surprised to actually see it as something akin to a acquaintanceship.
Who was he kidding? They were clearly friends.
Din made breakfast every morning, never harping on the pilot for waking up late. They'd say simple goodbyes before the mandalorian left. Poe would then babysit the child, finding something fun and slightly dangerous to do, which sometimes involved Iva. The day would end with the Mand'alor coming home in the early evening and teaching Poe how to not burn the house down when cooking.
It was oddly domestic.
So much so that Poe found it almost disgusting.
The pilot's thoughts were interrupted by the rapid sound of banging on the front door of the house. BB-8 chirped in alarm, whirling behind Poe as he answered the door.
"Apologies, Alor Riduur." A masked mandalorian quickly bowed before addressing him again. "An unauthorized ship has landed in the hangar demanding that they meet with both you and the Mand'alor."
Poe nodded his head, not entirely trusting his voice in such a situation. Thankfully he was still dressed in his armor so late in the evening. He picked up Grogu, quietly shushing the child when protested.
"Din!" He leaned back slightly, shouting down the hallway.

Poe could tell that the king was already apprehensive as he hurriedly walked behind him towards the monarch building. He could practically see the knot of tense muscles at the man's shoulders.
"They're Jedi." A mandalorian who Poe had previously met, Paz Vizlsa, informed them, meeting them just outside the entrance to the throne room alongside the armorer.
The pilot could hear the creaking of Din's dark leather gloves as his hands balled into tight fists.
"Did they say who they were?" Poe pressed as moved to stand directly beside the Mand'alor, his eyebrows knitting together.
Iva's visor covered gaze reluctantly rested on Poe's form, her hands clasped together.
"It's Luke Skywalker." She said it quietly, as if she was attempting to notify the pilot before their king heard the news.
Din's head snapped look at the armorer. Poe noticed the man's breathing was shallow, probably attempting to calm down.
This wasn't going to be good.
The Mand'alor only nodded his head, steeling himself as Poe tried to do the very same, before the two entered side by side.
The pilot had expected Luke, possibly Rey, but he hadn't realized Finn would be there.
"Poe!" Finn shouted. There was clearly excitement on his voice though annoyance shined through it and toward the mandalorian warriors that held he and his friends back from greeting Poe.
Din moved to sit at the empty table that stood in the middle of the room. There were two chairs at the head of it, the king moving to swiftly sit in one of them, not sparing Poe's friends even a glance. He silently gestured to the chair on his left, the pilot moving to take the offer.
Iva silently moved to sit in a council chair to Poe's left, a reassuring hand squeezing his shoulder for a moment before dropping it.
There was a moment of silence met by confident boots moving to stand to the side of the king.
"Mand'alor," Bo-Katan dipped her head out of respect before waving a hand at the group of warriors holding the trio of intruders in shackles.
Poe's friends were led to stand beside the woman, made to kneel down before them.
"I apologize for waking you as well as your riduur so late in the might."
Poe winced slightly as he noticed the king's left hand gripping tightly at the armrest of his chair.
"Maybe we should get on with it, then?" Din bit out, gesturing towards Luke who was knelt beside her, handcuffed behind his back.
"Of course," She murmured. "The intruders entered the atmosphere with only one initial announcement on comms. They followed no galactic protocols, claiming an 'emergency'."
There was a beat of silence as all heads turned from Bo-Katan to face the group of delinquents.
"Well, explain yourselves." Din ordered, clearly annoyed.
"D'Qar was attacked by the First Order." Poe stiffened at that, panic quickly setting into his mind. Luke locked eyes with the pilot as he continued.
"Everything is fine, more or less. But there's a key to an ancient jedi text we need in order to try to restore peace to the galaxy-"
Bo-Katan interrupted the man with a scoff.
"Peace? Coming from a jedi? That's rich-"
The king raised his hand from where it lay on the arm rest, swiftly silencing the warrior.
"Let him finish."
Luke was hesitant before he began explaining again. "That text belongs to the Alor Riduur."
Poe was surprised that Luke already seemed to know more about the mandalorians' culture than the pilot initially did, but it soon wasn't the only thing on his mind. After his brain slowly caught up to the rest of the sentence, a look of confusion crossed his facial features.
Din turned to face him, as did everyone else in the room. Once his spouse noticed Poe's own confusion he looked to Luke again.
"Explain," The mandalorian demanded.
