I checked my watch for the thousandth time as I kept standing outside the airport for that dumbass of a brother I have, who personally 'begged' me to let him picked me up. And now I'm seriously regretting my decision as I checked the time again.
Even the security guards are giving me sympathetic looks.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to be this late yaar", Dev apologized from a distance as he jogged up to me.
"Arey! Why are you saying sorry? You know I was quite enjoying the view man, you should have come a little earlier to see how welcoming this people are", I sarcastically smiled as he gulped.
"We all know na how Mom is when she talks about her Prena? Then imagine how she would turned out to be when she's in front of Prena herself and trust me, the way they both were talking with each other, I couldn't gather the 'courage' to break their moment ", he quoted on the word 'courage' making me rolled my eyes.
" Stop putting your words into Mom's name, asshole", I playfully shoved him as he chuckled.
"So, apologize accepted?"
"Of course not", I narrowed my eyes at him as he shrugged and walked towards his car.
"Where do you think you're going?", I asked as he looked confused,
"Car?"
"What about my bags?", I raised my eyebrows and pointed towards my bags lying beside me as he groaned and picked them up.
"Let's go, your highness", he sarcastically motioned towards the car making me grinned.
He opened the backseat door and throw my bags in instead of placing them in the boot of the car.
Lazy ass.
He walked around towards the driver seat and I blocked his way.
"What?", he asked looking up at me.
I extended my hand towards him for the keys,
"I don't believe in your driving skills"
"Oh com'on! Not again", he groaned as he slammed the keys into my opened palm as he moved towards the passenger seat while closing the door with a thud.
"You know you're a jerk", he rolled his eyes at me.
"Not more than you", I chuckled at which he rolled his eyes as to say 'whatever'.
"So, tell me about her ", I said as I drove away from the parking lot into the road.
I know something's going on with him as he seems a lot happier than he usually is, if you know what I mean and it's not like I'm the cause of his overly creepy smile that is plastered on his bloody face. Because his aura seems too happy to be real.
"Her?", he asked with a confused face when it suddenly strike his mind and he grinned like a chimpanzee.
Idiot.
"Oh! Her! ", He said extending the word 'her' for a bit to long then my liking.
"She's the sweetest thing in the world and you know she even baked cookies for all of us and when Mishti playfully told her that you love coconut cookies, she packed a few cookies for you to taste", he grinned as I glanced at him and again continued to looked back at the road ahead.
"I guess you finally find your lovestory eh?", I smirked.
"Yes--Wait! What?? What the fuck are you talking about?", he frowned making me crunched up my face as well.
"Who the fuck are you talking about?", I asked instead, as I take a left turned.
"Prena bhabhi, of course!", he said confusedly.
"WHAT?!", I slammed at the break making us jerked forward.
"What 'what'?", he rolled his eyes as I gave him the 'you know what I mean' look.
"There's nothing going on", he groaned and I continued to drive down the street.
"Then there's definitely something going on", I chuckled. As he sighed in defeat.
"There's this girl", he sighed again scratching his neck.
"Of course there's going to be a girl unless you're a gay, which you aren't or are you?", I questioned.
"OF COURSE NOT!", he yelled making me laughed.
"Okay! continue with your love *ahem* story", I playfully coughed at the word lovestory as he stuck out his tongue at me.
"She's like the fresh breeze of wind that blew after a stormy rain, you know the one that creates goosebumps on your skin?, I felt that whenever I looked at her" he continued,
"And her eyes? They're like a bunch of fireflies on a starless night, shining brightly at every now and then" he chuckled if he remembered one of their interactions.
"Are you talking about a girl or the weather forecast?, I joked as he smacked my arm as I laughed harder.
"You're so unromantic!, I'm just wondering how Prena bhabhi will handle you", he huffed.
"In that case, I think I should dumped Prena and marry that girl instead", I gave him a lopsided grinned as he smacked me again, this time harder.
Ouch!
"She's mine", he narrowed his eyes at me as we droved through the gate towards the home entrance.
"Look we're here!", I said as he ripped his eyes from me to looked at the 'tiny crowd' which we also called our family at the entrance door. I stepped out of the car followed by him. I walked passed him but stopped and turned towards him.
"Are you coming?", I asked him and he nodded.
"Are you ready" he asked and I shook my head making him laughed,
"Welcome back, brother"
"MANIK!", a high-pitched voice squealed as she jumped at me, blocking my eye sight with her wild curly hairs which I know belonged to none other than my little sister--
"Mishti", Dev said in an annoyed tone signaling her at my 'breathless' state, letting me go immediately.
"You know I've a hell lot of things to talked to you, twinnie", she smiled cheekily.
"Of course you have", I rolled my eyes with a smile.
"But before that, you have to cross this 'family media' who are glaring at your sister's back, right now", Dev motioned towards mom and the other members that are actually glaring at Mishti's back.
"Let's go", I chuckled and walked up the remaining stairs to hugged mom.
"Finally", My mom sighed while hugging me back.
"You never hugged me like the way you hug him, I'm deeply hurt by this", Dev pouted sadly.
Drama Queen.
"Because she loves me more", I smirked as he dramatically gasped looking at mom to denied it.
"You both know whom I love the most", Mom smiled.
"That's the problem, we both don't know whom you love the most", Dev whined.
"That's your work to find out, right?", Mom said with her secret smile.
"Before you continue with your bantering let me do the aarti", Badi-ma (Mohini) said making her way to the front with the aarti ki thaali.
"Badi-ma", I smiled as I bend down to touched her feet which she interrupt midway pulling me for a side hug.
"How many times do I need to tell you not to touch my feet?", She playfully glared at me.
"Sorry not sorry", I grinned as she laughed at my words and did my aarti. After which we all make our way to the living room.
"So, how was the trip?", Nivedita Di asked as she carefully walked down the stairs with the help of her beloved husband aka Anupam, who firmly placed a hand over her shoulder and her baby bump which seems to be grown a little bigger than the last time I checked on her.
Obviously it'll be bigger than the last time, idiot! after all she's carrying a baby. My subconscious mind snapped at me.
"It was good, how's my champ?", I asked as I helped her to seat beside me. And gave a 'I got it' smile towards Anupam who nodded and took a seat beside Dev who was sitting at the couch placed across mine.
"It feels like I'm carrying a blue whale or something", she groaned as she softly caressed her swollen stomach. She's in her eight months and we had been an extra careful since the last time where she nearly slipped off from the stairs.
"After all it's the result of your Shimla trip, right Anupam?", Dev smirked getting a smack behind his head by Anupam who glared at him.
Someone needs to stapled his mouth off.
"By the way when did you guys arrived?", I asked to cover up that idiot's blunder.
"An hour ago after they came back from their visit to Murthys", Anupam replied.
"Well Manik, I wanted to--actually Neyonika wanted to drop some 'news' that happened today in the meet, right Neyo?", Badi-ma corrected herself as she forced a 'go on' smile towards mom who cleared her throat and nodded.
"There's this two surprise news that I wanted to let you know about as it included both you had Prena in it", she said as I urged her to go on because I don't trust my voice at this point.
"The first news is that, since you couldn't visit Prena today due to your 'delayed' flight which also resulted in your absence to today's meeting. So to save your dignity and your words I promised Prena something", she said in a calm tone.
It's the calmness before the storm, dude! . My subconscious mind remind me.
"I promise Prena that you'll take her for an outing tommorow, so that you could make it up to her", she said, staring right into my eyes with a 'no argument' sign flashing in her look.
CRAP!
