..Dr.Shweta glanced at his beard and rugged face for a moment. Seemed he hadn't seen his face on mirror for past few days. The smell ofn alcohol was striking her nostrils. Taking deep breathe inwardly she placed her hands on table and opened her lips while his expression was same plain and blank.
.." woh tuhmari lagti kya hai? Biwi? Girlfriend? ( She asked only to revieve a bit stern look from him. Frowning a bit he scratched his temple and glared at her )
.." Ghar wapas jaa raha tha. Jordar barish hoh rahi thi. Raashte mai behosh padi thi uthake leh aaya. Anjan ladki koh meri biwi batati hoh ( He muttered rolling his eyes away and Shweta raised her eyebrows making a O mouth )
.." Wese tumne acha kiya joh ushe leh aaye. Thoda sa aur late hota toh sayad woh mar jaati. She's suffering from Pneumonia. ( She informed and he gave another blank look. He didn't knew what exactly she was saying as poor orphan guy hadn't got chance to grab some education and knowledge during his 18 years at orphanage )
.." Pneumonia ek kisim ki bimari hai. Jyada thand lagne k wajah sai hoh jata hai. She's already suffering from this desiseas. Agar woh tuhme nah milti toh sayad ushi barish ki thand mai woh mar jaati as aeshe cases mai death bhi common hota hai ( She said and he blinked his eyes for a moment and then composed himself leaning back at the chair )
.." Toh ab woh bach gayi haina? Mujhe jana hai ab ( With that he stood up from his place and turned to leave when Shweta's voice stopped him in mid )
.." Aadhi raat koh ushe akela chod kar kaha jaa rahe hoh? Thodi dair mai ushe hosh aa jayega ( She said and he turned to her with angry look )
.." Aadhi raat koh beech sadak mai sai uthake leh aaya. Jaan bachayi utna kaafi toh hai. Tu badi doctor woctor banti hai toh khud dhyaan rakhle..mera kaam maine kar liya samjhi ( He muttered thumping his hands on the table and she too stood up from her place )
.." Kar deti..lekin kal meri London ki flight hai aur dusra koi nahi yaha joh ush ladki ka dhyaan rakh sake. Dekho subah tah ushka dhyaan rakhlo phir naam address wagera puch kar ushke ghar wapas jane mai help kardo ( She muttered and he sighed in disbelief while she continued )
.." And yeah hoh sake toh bichari kai upar ghussa mat karna. I think already ushne kaafi kuch saha hai. Ushke body mai kaafi chot kai nishan mile hai ( She said and he nodded lightly looking away from her )
.." Wese tuhmara naam? Karte kya hoh? ( she asked and he again glared at her )
.." Manik. Kaam kuch nahi..body banana..logo koh thokna aur sharab peena. Aur kuch?! ( Saying so he barged out of the room while Shweta nodded in disbelief. Though he was too rude but seemed he cared somewhere inside his heart. If not he hadn't brought that girl to her clinic)
..He clenched his jaw in anger as he saw her taking the sip of the soup and four empty cups lying beside her which were already finished by her. Angrily he snatched away the cup from her hands and gritted his teethes.
.." Kitna khaati hoh yaar! Kabse naam wagera puch raha hu bolti kyu nahi? Behri hoh? Bol nahi sakti? ( He shouted while she blinked her eyes in bit amusement. Letting out a little burp she smiled shortly and took back the cup from his hands )
.." Bahut bhook lagi hai. Ek hafte hoh gaye kuch nahi khaya. Soup is very tasty..tumne banaya? Aur haa mai sun sakti hu aur bol bhi sakti hai. Kuch bolkar batau? ( She said with innocent voice while he widened his eyes. The anger changed into his shock and he bit his lips ruffling his hair )
.." Ek hafte sai kuch nahi khaya? Kyu? ( He asked with a soft voice this time and she chuckled looking at him through corner of her big doe eyes )
.." Jail mai..pata hai kuch nahi kiya thaa maine. Pehle mujhe mental asylum mai rakha thaa..1 month kitna torture kiya woh logo nai..jabarjasti shocks dete hai aur jab ek din bhaagne ki koshis ki jail pahucha diya..woh toh acha hua ek achi hawaldar aunty mili who helped me to escape warna..( She mumbled and suddenly tears welled up in eyes and then started crying badly. He glanced at her for a moment figuring out if really she was mental or not but she didn't seemed to be )
.." Naam kya hai tera? ( He asked and she sniffed wiping her tears away.)
.." Nandini Murthy..( She whispered and he sighed looking at her. He gestured her to eat and stood up to leave the room. He didn't bothered to ask why and where she was etc as he believed to live in his own privacy and letting the people to live in their own privacy. He didn't poke his nose everywhere nor allowed anyone to poke their nose in his private life.)
..Two days passed like this. He wouldn't ask her anything nor stopped her from doing anything whereas she would always blabber about her life and random things. Sometimes he would listen without care while sometimes he would just ignore. She noticed his house to be plain and dark..furnitures were old tidy and his kitchen didn't hold anything but alcohol. Whole day he would just exercise or roam around either smoking or drinking. It was another afternoon and he was just sitting idol on the terrace. He was about to take his another shot when he heard screams coming from down. At first he ignored and took the shot casually..scream got increased but seemed he was deaf to hear it as he was just sitting and drinking casually. This time the scream became even louder and anger got raised inside him.
..Muttering curse beneath his breathe he stood up and walked away. He barged inside Nandu's room and threw a sharp glare at her and then realize she was shouting in sleep. Keeping his bottle aside he went to her and saw her trembling and sweating bad. Tossing here and there she was struggling to breathe.
.." Kya musibat hai! ( He muttered rubbing his beard face and then composing himself he sat beside her and tried to wake her up from her nightmare. He tried to tap her face but then eventually she found his warmth beside her and in no second snuggled inside him. He could sense her heavy breathes which she was letting out. It was getting very awkward for him as he was not used to all this things)
.." Aye..tu..tu theek haina? Uth jaldi..( He muttered tapping her face while she slowly opened her eyes and stared at him with her moist eyes. She tried to speak but seemed words weren't helping her out )
.." I..woh..woh..( She was trembling while he got pissed off. Shoving her away he stood and walked away to grab his bottle. He was about to leave when she stopped him in mid )
.." Manik..tum kaha ja rahe hoh? Wapas aaoge yaa nahi? ( She asked and he turned to her with a stern look )
.." Tujhse matlab? ( He asked in a stern voice while she rolled her eyes at floor with a down face )
.." Woh..tuhmare itne bade aur khaali ghar mai akele dar lagta hai. Koi nahi hota naa ( She whispered while he chuckled looking at her )
.." chinta mat kar tujhe aur yaha rehne ki zaroorat nahi. Wese bhi tu theek hoh chuki hai naa..( He spoke while she shot her head at him )
.." Mai jaungi kaha? Appa kai ghar gayi then he'll kill me this time..( She whispered and he sighed in disbelief listening to her so called Appa's name )
.." Tere Appa kai alawa tere khaandan mai aur bhi log honge naa? ( He asked and she nodded lightly looking at him )
.." Amms hai..woh bhi yaha nahi rehti..( She mumbled and he took another shot glaring at her )
.." Dusre duniya mai rehti hai teri Amms? ( He muttered while she nodded in no stared at him )
.." Mumbai ( She whispered and he blinked his eyes looking at her disbelief )
.." Toh tu kya chahti hai..mai tujhe abhi Goa sai Mumbai teri Amms kai paas leh jau? ( He asked and she smiled looking at him with twinkling eyes )
.." Ab tumne khud bol diya hai toh leh chalo..I'm ready ( She exclaimed and he nodded in disbelief as he knew this thing was sure to come )
..She hopped down from the bed and that is when he noticed something awkward in her. She was fumbling to walk. He glanced at her for a moment while she made a what look.
.." Tere pair kya hua? ( He asked while she smiled faintly looking at him )
.." Apne duniya mai itna khote hoh tum? 2 din tuhmare saath rahi..ab tak pata nahi chala. Mere right leg mai problem hai..bachpan sai aur yahi  cheez Appa koh pasand nahi thi ( She mumbled caressing her right leg while he was deprived of words for a moment )
.." Uhne ek beta chahiya thaa. Ek perfect beta joh unki tarah army join kar sake. But unfortunately mai paida hoh gayi upar sai mere leg ka problem. Imperfection aur apaheez ka tag lag gaya mere upar. Appa couldn't tolerate ki unka beta nahi balki ek apaheez beti hai ( She shrugged giving a weak smile while he coughed and then composed himself after knowing this harsh truth of her )
.." Kal subah zaldi uth jana. Tere Amms kai paas pahucha dunga ( He muttered while she nodded with a huge smile)
.." Yes boss! ( She exclaimed showing her teethes while he gulped his shot and left nodding in disbelief )
..Nandini was in tears standing at the door of her Amms house. She tried to walk but soon was ready to hit the ground when Manik took hold of her. Somehow composing herself she walked inside and sat before her Amms picture. Gauri..Amms sister sat beside her and sniffed badly.
.." 2 din pehle hi achanak raat koh Akka koh heart attack aaya and then..she left ( Saying so Gauri burst out in tears while Nandini was ready to faint but somehow she composed herself )
.." Thank you joh tum Nandu koh yaha leh aaye. Amms toh pehle hi ushko yaha leh aane wali thi..( Gauri said while Manik nodded looking at her.)
.." Mera kaam tha Nandini koh yaha pahuchana aur Maine woh kar liya..ab aage aap sambhal loh ishko mujhe wapas Goa jana hai ( Saying so he turned and left while Nandini blinked her eyes as unknowingly tears welled up in her eyes )
..Manik inserted the key inside and started the engine of his jeep. Turning around jeep left the place. He was about to cross the gate when he saw her reflection in mirror. She was trying to reach him shouting out his name.
..Applying the break he stopped and hopped down from the jeep while she somehow reached him panting hard.
.." Pagal hai kya! Chal..wapas jaa jaldi ( He said pointing towards Amms house while she nodded in no with a fear look )
.." Mujhe tuhmare saath wapas jana hai. Amms hi hongi toh akele mai kya karungi. Tum mujhe apne saath wapas leh jao na ( She whispered while he was ready to attack her )
.." Tujhe wapas leh jakar mai kya karunga? Tu yahi salamat rahegi.. Tera Appa kuch ukhad nahi payega tera yaha..( He shouted while she made a pouty look frowning hard )
.." unka bharosha nahi. I know mai tuhmare saath safe hu. Appa toh kya..Appa ka saya bhi kuch nahi kar payenge jab tak tum mere saath honge ( She whispered while he gasped and palmed his face in frustration )
.." Kaan khol kar sun leh yeh baat. Mai khud ka dhyaan nahi rakh sakta toh tera kya rakhunga huh! Dekh chup chap wapas jaa warna doh thappad lagaunga samjhi! ( He warned while she smiled softly which did nothing but pissed him even more )
.." Thappad maro..jaan lelo kuch bhi karlo lekin mai tuhmare saath wapas jaungi. I know tum khayal rakh sakte hoh. Tum aesha ishliye keh rahe hoh kyuki tuhme kabhi mauka nahi mila..rishte nibhane ka..apno ka dhyaan rakhne ka. Tum dil kai bure nahi hoh agar hote toh sayad ush din tum mujhe akele sadak mai marne kai liye chod dete ( She spoke while he looked at her with blank expression )
.." Zindagi koh ek baar mauka toh doh. Apne aap koh ek mauka toh doh phir dekho zindagi tuhme kya khoobsurat cheez deti hai tuhme..( Saying so she started to cough hard while he hold and started to rub her back lightly )
.." Dawa nahi li tune? ( He asked while she nodded in no only to receive a deadly glare from him. She showed her teethes while he nodded in disbelief )
..Once back to Goa he opened the door of his house and stepped inside along with Nandini. He walked inside while she sat there only pouting hard. Not sensing her beside he frown and turned to see her sitting with a dull face.
.." Mai thak gayi..mujhe uthake leh chalo na please ( She made a puppy face while nodding in disbelief he went to her and picked her up in arms and walked upstairs to her room. Tucking her inside the blanket he turned to leave but she grabbed his hand and snuggled close to him while he sighed and sat there only ruffling her hair till she drifted to sleep )
.." Wese Manik..tum kaam kya karte hoh? ( Nandini asked as he stuffed the morsel inside her mouth.)
.." Tujhse matlab? Chup chap khana khaa ( He ordered while she made a horrible look and continued her eating. He took another shot while she glared at him )
.." Jab dekho peete rehte hoh. Aur koi kaam nahi? Tuhmara naa sirf doh hi kaam hai..ek peena aur dusra jab dekho ghussa karna ( She muttered while he glared at her. Taking out a gun from the drawer he pointed at her and smirked )
.." Logo koh thokna bhi aata hai..namuna dikhau? ( He mumbled while she showed her teethes and continued her eating. As she was feeling thirsty she saw coke lying nearby. Grabbing it immediately she started to drink but then spilled it out making a disgusting )
.." Yukk..tuhme naa sharab ki factory kholni chahiye. Duniya kai aadhe sai jyada sharab toh tum gatak jate hoh huh..( She complaint while he shrugged making a whatever face )
.." Manik abhi bhi time hai..sudhar jao..bhagwan nai itni pyaari zindagi di hai yeshe peeke aur gun wun leke waste kyu karte hoh? ( She said while he sighed in anger and stood up only to barged out of the room )
..Composing himself Manik roamed around the streets inserting his hands inside pocket. The sun was already set and it was getting dark by now. He was walking randomly when his eyes fell on something.
.." Kaam Chahiye ( Manik mumbled to a man who was busy ordering something to his mens. He glanced at him from head to toe and gave a warm smile )
.." Oye kaam? Kaisa kaam? Kya karoge bhai? ( He asked while Manik sighed rubbing his rugged face lightly )
.." Kuch bhi..bas kaam chahiye ( He mumbled while the man shrugged looking at him )
.." Isshe pehle kaha kaam karte thai? Kuch experience wagera hai bhai? ( He asked while Manik shot his head at him. He slid down his hoodie even more so that the man wouldn't be able to see the gun placed inside him )
.." Nahi..( He muttered looking away while the man nodded scratching his head trying to think something )
..closing the door behind he walked inside the house carrying the stuffs in his hands which he had brought for Nandini. He went inside the kitchen and paused for a moment. Applying the raspberry jam on the bread he turned off the stove where he had kept the milk to warm it up. Carrying the food and milk in his hands he walked upstairs and peeped inside her room. He sighed as again she was trembling and sweating in sleep. Keeping the tray aside he went to her and placed her head on his lap trying to soothe her down.
.." Ssh bas bas..( He muttered while composing herself she opened her eyes and stared at him. Taking the tray he again came and sat beside her placing the tray on her lap )
.." Ab jaldi jaldi yeh gatak jaa phir..( he was about to complete when she cut off him in mid )
.." Phir hum ghoomne jayenge yayee! ( She exclaimed softly while he again nodded in disbelief. This girl was impossible for him to understand.)
..After wait of 20 minutes doctor finally made his appearance at his cabin while Manik leaned over him composing himself. Doctor took sip of water and gave a warm smile.
.." Wese ushke chot wagera toh theek hoh chuke but mentally she's still in trauma..yeh sab bure hadshe bhoolne mai waqt lagta hai. Rahi baat Pneumonia..ushke liye you've to be careful. Dhyaan rahe woh medicines woh time par leh aur ek dum thandi cheezo sai ushe door rakhna ( He informed while Manik nodded lightly )
.." Ushke pair ka kya? Kuch toh ilaaz hoga naa. Theek toh hoh sakta haina? ( Manik asked while the doctor sighed looking at him )
.." See yeh Nandini ka bachpan ka problem hai. If ush waqt kuch action liya hota toh sayad kuch hoh pata but sorry to say ab kaafi late hoh chuka. Zindagi bhar ushka woh pair sayad theek nah hoh paye. Anyway take care of her. She's lucky ki ushe tum jaisa caring husband mila or else kayi cases mai toh family wale bhi saath chod dete hai ( He said while Manik stared at him blankly. He wanted to say that he wasn't her husband but preferred to be quite )
.." Zindagi bhar ushka woh pair sayad theek nah paye ( Doctors words echoed around his mind and he clutched his jaw in bit anger. The chalk placed in his hand got broken while Nandini's voice broke his trance )
.." Are Manik where are you lost? Dekho tuhmare Horse ka spelling wrong hai ( Nandini scolded while he stared at her and then to his spelling which was wrong )
.." Tere horse ki toh..( He mumbled and corrected the spelling while she giggled looking at him. Completing all the alphabets and names he placed the mini board before while she raised her eyebrows looking at him )
.." Are waah! Ab chalo one to hundred tak ka spelling and if ish baar mistake hue then punishment milegi ( She said while he gave a short smile )
.." Okay madam! ( He exclaimed while she bursted out in laugh holding her tummy )
.." Kya hua? Has kyu rahi hai? Galat bola kya? ( He asked innocently while she nodded in no suppressing her laugh )
.." Kya yaar ab has bhi nahi sakti ( She pouted while he again nodded in disbelief. This girl was really impossible for him )
..It was Sunday and Manan after roaming the amusement park were returning back walking through the market. She was having good time with her candy flaws while Manik was holding her tight. Suddenly he rememberred something and he turned to her.
.." Yahi par reh. Hilna mat. Mai abhi aaya ( He ordered while she blinked her eyes )
.." Kyu? Sharab ki stock khatam hoh gayi? Lene jane rahe hoh? Ish baar thoda jyada leh aana dono saath mai milkar piyenge! ( She teased while he gave a stern look. She immediately sealed her lips while he placing her in nearby bench went away )
..He came to a shop and roamed his eyes around and then his eyes fell on doll counter and a huge smile crept on his face.
.." Doll doll karke kaan paka diya thaa. Aaj khush hoh jayegi bevakoof ( He mumbled and went to fetch the doll )
..As he returned staring at the packet and smiling to himself he saw Nandini missing from the bench. Frowning hard he roamed around and saw her in corner with a man clutching her arm tight. Anger raised inside him and he went to them. Harshly he pushed away the man and placed Nandini behind him.
.." Himmat kaise huyi teri ishe haath lagane kai liye. Zinda gaad dalunga yahi par ( He muttered while the man gave a disgusting look )
.." How dare you! Tum jante bhi hoh mai kaun hu! Baap hu ishka samjhe. Mai ishke saath joh bhi karu tum hote kaun hoh! ( Mr.Murthy snapped while Manik blinked his eyes im shock. He looked at Nandini who was sniffing badly and then glared back at Mr.Murthy )
.." Mujhe koi farak nahi padta tu chahe ishka baap hoh yaa koi aur. Bachpan sai lekar aaj tak toh apni beti ki chinta nahi ki ab kya karne aaya hai ( Manik spoke while Mr.Murthy gave a deadly glare )
.." Tum jaiso k muh mai nahi lagta. Nandini! Decide kar yaa toh mere saath chal yaa phir ish sharabi gunde kai saath ( Mr.Murthy shouted while Manik was ready to punch him but Nandini stopped him )
.." Gunda hua toh kya hua..mere jaisa imperfect hua toh kya hua. Aapse sai toh acha hai. He's worth better you Mr.Murthy. Aapne toh mujhe kabhi accept hi nahi kiya..apaheez huna naa that's why marne kai liya chod diya. But he saved me. Manik saved me..he gave me a new life! Aur mai ushke saath abhi bahut khush hu. I'm satisfied samjhe aap! ( She shouted while Mr.Murthy nodded in disbelief )
.." Go away Mr.Murthy! Because mera toh pata nahi lekin agar Manik ka ghussa badh gaya then he'll kill you right now aur mai ushko rokungi bhi nahi ( She warned while Mr.Murthy accepting his defeat left away from there )
..She was sitting on bed staring the floor blankly. Manik came and knelt before her. She was sitting with a dull face. He quietly took out the doll and placed before her but she picked it up and kept it aside. He took out another doll and she again kept it aside. He took out another one and this time she stared at it and kept on her lap.
.." Are ishko toh rakh liya. Kyu? ( He asked and she stared at him with short smile )
.." Yeh wala jyada cute hai ( She mumbled with a smile while he pulled her down and took her in a tight hug. She sniffed lightly while he rubbed her back kissing her hair softly )
.." Manik chalo it's your class time. Kal one to hundred likha thaa aaj tumko vowels sikhaungi ( She mumbled while he groaned )
.." Manik hmm kya! Ushke baad nouns..adjectives..adverbs sab padhna hai chalo ( With that she picked him up and started to walk slowly while he took her hold with a lazy face )
..It was the for the first time Manik was going to give the interview for a job. Tucking the tie he took a deep breathe and then turned to her who was looking at him with loving eyes.
.." Ready? Mr. Manik ( She whispered while he smiled and hold her by waist )
.." Ready ( He mumbled while she smiled and placed her head near his heart )
.." Woh log mujhe select toh karenge naa? ( He asked while she nodded kissing his heart )
..He smiled in content as he got qualified for the job. He wanted to be with Nandini as soon as possible but not without the gifts. He again went to the same gift corner and buyed all the doll's for her. Reaching the home he barged inside calling out Nandini. His smile soon faded away as he saw Mr.Murthy sitting on chair with calm face.
.." Tu idhar kya kar raha hai? Nandini kaha hai? ( He asked in dangerous voice while Mr.Murthy shrugged casually acting like an innocent man )
.." I don't know? Mujhe kya pata tuhmari Nandini kaha hai? ( He said in a sarcastic way while Manik was ready to lose his temper )
.." Ohh haa yaad aaya. Maine bas ushko behosh kiya aur kahi yeshe sadak mai chod aaya. Mushibat khatam..cheers! ( He exclaimed and next moment he was under Manik who started punching him badly )
.." Bol Meri Nandini kaha hai! Warna tarpa tarpa maar dalunga! ( He shouted while Mr.Murthy pushed him away angrily )
.." I don't know..mera kaam thaa ush mushibat koh kahi door chodna so maine kiya. Ab jaake dhoond jaha dhoondna hai..wese bhi zordar barish hone wala hai..thand badh jayegi. Pneumonia ki patient tch tch ( He mumbled while Manik pointing at him for the last time went out in search of her )
..As predicted it started to rain heavily while Manik was on urge of crying. It was getting dark and his heart was ready to burst up anytime. Tick by tick time got passed while he got no clue of Nandini. Drenching badly in rain he was pacing here and there but got no sign of her. Atlast he sat down nearby and started to cry badly like a son who had lost his mother. There was a time where he only wanted to get rid of her but now he was carving to get one glimpse of her.
..three months got passed. The man who once had given a part time job to Manik entered inside a police station and sat before a constable.
.." Ohh sir jee! Kal mai apni garage sai ghar wapas jaa raha thaa. Itne mai doh besharam mujhe lootke chale gaye jee. Ohh mera passport sabkuch chala gaya..kuch karo jee ( He said while the constable nodded and noted down his complaint. As the man was giving the information his eyes fell on a familiar figure who was sitting on a corner. He frown and rubbed his eyes and again glanced at him. He was Manik who once worked in his garage. He frown as Manik looked pale and rugged. His eyes were blank while body seemed to be lifeless )
.." Oh sir jee! Aye banda yaha kyu hai jee? ( He asked while the constable nodded in disbelief )
.." Mat pucho Sardar jee..pichle 3 mahine sai aaye jaa raha. Kishi Nandini kai bare mai puchta hai. Roz subah aata hai..chup chap kone mai beth jata hai aur raat koh chala jata hai. Pagal deewana lagta hai koi ( Constable informed while the man nodded looking at Manik )
.." Yeh dekho Sardar jee. Yeh hai woh ladki Nandini. Kaafi dhoonda humne par nahi mili. Zinda bhi hai yaa pata nai ( Constable placed the picture before him while he glanced at it and gave a pity look to Manik )
.." Manik..oye mujhe pehchana mai Kake. Ush din kaam dhoodne aaya tha ( He spoke sitting near him while Manik ignored him acting totally lost as he was actually totally lost )
.." Manik chal uth..mujhe pata hai teri Nandini kaha hai ( As the words left from Kake's mouth Manik shot his head at him and tears welled up in his eyes while Kake nodded looking at him )
..Manik gasped in relief as he saw Nandini sleeping peacefully. He quietly went to her and sat before her taking her soft hands in him.
.." 3 mahine pehle mili thi. Zordar barish hoh rahi thi..andhera thaa. Mai ghar kai liye late hoh raha thaa oh achanak mere gaddi kai neeche aa gayi. Bichari ki kaafi buri halat thi..toh ghar leh aaya..tab sai mai aur meri biwi ishka dhyaan rakh rahe hai. Ab tak ishe hosh bhi nahi aaya. ( Kake informed while Manik kissed her hands and let tears trickled down his face )
