Manik's pov

Ahha..! So much work! Today is the last day of our internship at the surgery department and still that professor doesn't ask me or any of his students questions!!

Ahh..by the way, I'm Manik..Manik Malhotra! Age.. umm, not needed! Well every girls care more about my looks not age though ;)

I'm a simple guy with handsome look ofcourse! Work..umm well people call me doctor but I am not a doctor yet! I always had a dream of being a great doctor and I am going to make that happen in real, soon!

"Excuse me sir!" Manik stopped his professor who was going to his cabin

"Yes?" Professor Agarwal turned to his side

"Sir, you only ask doctor Kunal about the reports and questions. May I know why you don't ask me or any of your students any questions? Today is the last day of our internship at the surgery department and still..?" He asked straightly

"Hmm..I knew you will ask this." Professor Agarwal chuckled "Are you a doctor?"

"No. I'm not a doctor yet.." Manik replied

"Exactly! You're not a doctor yet! And still you have a lot to study..to learn about the surgery, medicals and all..do you think if I ask you any question you will be able to answer me correctly?" Prof. Agarwal had a point too

"Not correctly..but I can try! You should give a chance atleast!?" Manik said, and this is what every student asked for right?

"Fine..there will be more cases tomorrow. So be prepared! I can whenever ask you any question.." Prof. Agarwal answered almost instantly

"Sure sir. The night is long and I can't wait for tomorrow.." Manik smiled back

Manik's home

"Baby bear..? Suhasi?? Where are you?" He called for his little sister, Suhasi..

Suhasi Malhotra, Sister of Manik. Since their parents death, Manik took care of Suhasi. He did everything for her just like a father do for her daughter. Suhasi was the dearest to Manik! Manik's baby bear!

"BOOOO" Suhasi suddenly shouted as she came in front of him. She wanted to scare him ofcourse! She was such a kid!

"Oooh..my...!!" He faked like he was really terrified

"Bhaiya!! Stop faking! I failed again this time!" She pouted. She'd tried many times to scare him like that but Manik was fearless afterall.

"Arrey nah! You didn't fail! I was really scared!! You want to kill me or what?!" Manik started tickling Suhasi..soon the whole house were filled with their laughter. Brother and Sister bond! The purest bond ever!

At the same time, he got a call. He saw the caller was..her!

"Bhaiya!! I'm hungry..! I have cooked your favourite dish..c'mon no!" She tried taking his phone away.  She didn't really like her.

"Wait. Let me take the call..Suhasi.." Suhasi sighed in defeat and went to the kitchen

"Hi Vishni.."

{Vishni, friend of Manik..they knew each other since childhood.. both are very good friends..}

"Listen..before you ask why I took your call late, I wanna tell you it's because of Suhasi. She's such a kid I'm telling you.."

"Manik! Help..help me.." He heard her whisper and this made him alert.

"What..what happen? You're okay right?!" He sensed there was something wrong, still he wanted to confirm if 'She's alright!'

"I..I think he's dead!! Can you..can you come and save him?" She said in a low yet audible voice

"Hey..Vishni..what's going on? What are you talking about?" For a moment he thought she was cracking some kind of joke.

"Manik..you must have learnt how to save people at school right?! You must have learnt it all at school no?!!" She almost sounded like she was slightly loosing her voice.

"Vishni...!" He became worried.

"I'm scar--scared Manik!" Her voice cracked.

"Where are you?" He asked panickly

"Okay..I will be right there! Don't leave!"

"Bhaiya! Where are going?!" Suhasi came running to him "Come let's have dinner.."

"Listen..baby bear, something happened to Vishni..! I have to go to her now!" He explained it to her

"But.."

"I will be right back!"

"Promise?"

"Promise!!" He kissed her forehead "Take care..!"

A girl nearly at 20, was in her big lavish bedroom..sitting on her king size bed with a photo frame in her hand!

"Mom..!" Her voice sounded so soft! "You're not here but I can feel your presence! I really miss you Mom!" A lone tear escape her eyes, she quickly wiped it. She knew she had to be strong! She must show the world that she wasn't weak!

"I will help dad! I will do my best to bring the company's status higher and more higher!!! I promise you!!" She carressed the photo frame

"Ma'am??" The maid knocked at her door disturbing her!

"Aahh!! Can't I spend a little time with my mom!??!!" She yelped in frustration still not opening the door

"Actually..Mr Kashyap is calling you downstairs!" The maid replied from outside

"Mr Kashyap..Mr Kashyap..Mr Kashyap!! When will my orders matter to you? Just tell him..I will come later.."

"Bu..but, ma'am..he has to discuss about the business itself! he asked m-mee to--to bring you now.." She trembled as she spoke.

"Just listen to my orders okay!"

"NANDINI!!!!" Boom! She heard a yell!!

Ofcourse 'Her dearest Father!'

"Agrrhh fine! Tell him that I'm coming" She finally agreed

Hotel, late night.

"Is he dead?" Asked a worried Manik..

Manik was with Vishni, in the hotel room.

The man's body was lying lifeless on the floor, blood oozing from his head

"I..I don't know!" Replied a scared Vishni. She was sitting at the corner of the room

Manik checked his pulse, he just wanted a small hint that he was alive but no, the man was already dead! He looked at Vishni, not knowing what to say

"Why..why are you looking at me like that?!! I..I didn't kill him..no!!" She shouted still crying

Manik covered the body with a blanket and went close to Vishni..he saw that she was holding an empty bottle of beer

"Was it this..that you hit him with?" He asked but she nodded in no and without any thought, broke the bottle

"That man..tried..tried to do something bad to you..didn't he? That's why you couldn't help it no?" He asked again and she nodded silently

"Listen Vishni..you can turn yourself in! It was self-defense! An accidental homicide! If you turn yourself in, they will consider the circumstances! Turn yourself in Vishni!"

"It will be the end of it for me then.." She said blankly

"Vishni.." He tried to explain her but she wasn't ready to listen.

"If this gets out..my career as a reporter will be over!!" Yes! She was a reporter & she was afraid! She didn't want to lose her job!

"Vishni..you can start doing something else! Whatever it is..you can start again..!!" He said with a faint smile

"Are you saying that I should crawl back to the place of poverty??

"Vishni.."

"Are you really saying to go back to hell??!! Do you not know how I've come this far?"

"Just tell me to die instead..I'd rather die.." She stood up, held a knife which was on the table and was going to cut her wrist but Manik stopped her..

"Vishnii! What are you doing Vishni? Are you crazy?!"

"I have no reason to live! For last 12 years! Damn 12 years I dreamt of being a reporter to get out of poverty! Now..it's all over!!" She said "It's okay..I killed him! I should turn myself in!" She dialed someone's number

"Hello..Police station? I'm trying to turn myself in..I am.." Before she could complete Manik took her phone away and cut it, he was in a dilemma! His gaiety or her merriment?? What matters the most? He finally got his answer!

Her merriment, her happiness mattered the most to him! He love her & He couldn't see her in trouble.

"Manik?!..you.." Without thinking twice..Manik kissed her! She was shocked, surprised! But as she was about to respond he broke the kiss

He start cleaning all stuffs..tables, chairs and all..

"What..What are you doing now..?" Asked a confused Vishni

"I was the one who killed him.."

"Manik..!"

"I killed him! You know nothing about this..!"

"No! Don't do that!"

"Go..just get out of here now!!" He said but Vishni was not yet agree with his decision

"Never look back..Just look straight ahead only!!" He placed his hand on her shoulder "It's okay if I don't become a doctor but you have to make your dream come true! Get out of here fast..!! Go Vishni.." He dragged her out of the room

After few minutes

"I will never forget this debt to you..for all my life Manik!" Her voice echoed in his ears "I will repay you no matter what!"

He took the blame just because of her! She meant so much to him!

He was standing near the window.. looking down at the street, people walking here and there. Cars of the officers were had reached, means they were already here to take him!

But before going behind the bars, he needed to speak to someone, his sister!

"Hello..baby bear?" Tears formed around his eyes as he heard her voice! "You okay?!..I'm sorry I won't be able to come.. I had already call Aditya..he will come there soon.."

{Aditya Singhania, full of fun guy, has no mother..doesn't stay with his dad because of some personal issues..Best buddy of Manik!}

"I'm sorry! I didn't keep my promise.." Manik finally cut the call

Few days passed when at last-----------

THE DEFENDANT MANIK MALHOTRA IS SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS IN PRISON.

5 years later..

LAS VEGAS. Early morning.

A girl sleeping peacefully on the bed..it seems like she haven't slept for months! She gradually opened her eyes and saw her employee, Neel Arora, who was more like a friend for her, was standing near the bed

"What time is it?" She was feeling very sleepy but still managed to asked

"Nandini ma'am..it's 8:30..are you feeling better?" Neel asked

"8:30?!! Sh!t sh!t!!" She woke up with a jerk! "We have a meeting with Mr Jason at 9:00 right! Then why didn't you wake me up?!!"

"You haven't slept more than seven hours this whole week! You're health is becoming worst..! I thought you need rest so I didn't.."

"Why don't you worry about your job before you think about my health?" She said calmly but soon her calm voice turned into a loud scream

"You should have wake me up god damn it!! You're appointed here for what? For business purposes right?..then?..If this deal doesn't go well..I will make sure I fire you first!!" She went inside the washroom to freshen up..Neel wasn't feeling bad. He knew he made a mistake..but her health which she was ignoring, was more important!!

Soon she was all ready..

(Nandini's outfit)

Nandini Kashyap, She was different from other girls, she always wear jeans and tops but never wear dresses! She didn't like applying any make-ups either! Since her mom died she learns how to live though she believed there is no one in her life then for whom she should do make-ups and dress like a princess? She was arrogant but yet she had a soft heart which can broke anytime! Only she knew how hard she tried not to show the world that she can be weak!

A guy, standing at the terrace of the room, staring at the view. He definitely enjoyed the atmosphere of Las Vegas.

"Why are you outside honey? Come inside no!" He heard the girl's voice

He went inside. He was shirtless and the girl's dress was somewhere in the corner of the room.

"Yeah..take it..this is all I have now" He gave her few notes of money. He put his shirt on and start buttoning it

"Did you think of me as a hooker? Seriously!!??" She held the blanket near her chest and went towards him "I asked you..something!!" She snapped

"Arrey No!" He chuckled "I thought of you as a female con artist! A person who tricks! Tricks others by persuading them to believe something that is not true! You said you loved me..you thought I believed? Nah! I know how popular you are in playing these kind of games..but..you picked the wrong guy this time..I am not the wealthy catch you imagine I would be"

"You!! Means you betrayed me..you took all the money from me!!" The girl held his collars

"Ahan! 'Tit For Tat' girl! I just took the money which you by cheating took from my friend! So game is over now.." He jerked her hand away and stepped out of the hotel room..

"Yes! I got the deal Mom..you listening na? All went well..I managed it very well.." Nandini said looking upwards. She was breathing the cool fresh air.. "Vegas...last few minutes here! the next few hours I will be in India.." She whispered and soon the sky became blur. She couldn't see clearly! She started having pain in her chest.

"Mom!!" She shouted in frustration

"Nandini..!!" Someone held her! Her mother no actually her stepmom! 'Mrs Vishni Kashyap!'

"Aahh..look who's here!" She composed herself..ofcourse she didn't want to show her weakness infront of her step-mom.

"You don't look okay! You need a doctor..!" She sounded concern

"Arrey nah!! I'm alright! By the way.. where is dad?

"He's gone..he told me to come with you!"

"Sh!t..I would rather die than coming with you.." Nandini mumbled

"What are you talking Nandini!!"

"C'mon..I'm kidding! Don't take it seriously..I will not die, not so soon!"

"Sissy..sissy.." A four year old boy came running and hugged her waist "Let's play games na..pleach(please) pleach sissyy"

Nandini pushed him away

"Nandini! You're Aryan's older sister..!" Vishni held her son close to her

"I don't consider you as my younger brother!" Her eyes were shooting daggers at him "I've told you more than 50 times..don't you understand? Are you stupid or what?"

"How can you do that with him? He is only four years old!"

"Before he is only four years old, he's your son!!" Nandini said sternly "At the age of 25..you became a mistress of someone who was at your father's age! Aryan is your son..I'm just scared if he become just like his mother then...?"

She smirked while Vishni looked at her in disbelief

"Come on now hurry up..we have a flight to catch!" She went inside to take her luggage

"You already succeed? Woaw!" Aditya exclaimed as Manik gave him his bank book which the girl had taken by cheating

"You can take the money that she took from you and don't forget to put the rest of the money into baby bear's account okay!" He ordered him

"Yeah bro..how can I forget that!"

"Let's go back to India..we're all done here.." He start walking off and Aditya followed him

"Acha listen..did yo..you..sleep with..her?" He asked hesitantly.

Manik didn't gave any response but instead, He just smirked & that 'smirk' said it all!!

"God man!! When did I ask you to sleep with her??! I'd only asked you to bring the money back!!

"And you thought I will just bring the money back without any games? Nah! You shouldn't expect me to be that loyal okay!" Manik gave a quick answer

"You're such a 'PLAYER' haan!!" Aditya slapped his back

"But 'YET FAULTLESS..!'" He spoke indistinctly..

"Attention everyone! We are here announcing that the flight will land in 1 and a half hour so be patient..Thank You!"

"Yaar..man..I'm so bored! There isn't a nice girl in this flight..damn!!" Aditya was frustrated, Manik gave him a 'Are you serious' look

"Arrey I mean..there are nice girls but..my type..you know!" He giggled..Manik sighed, He put on his headphones and went in a deep slumber

Few minutes later..

He wake up, he stood up and went towards the washroom

He waited there itself as the washroom was not vacant..he waited for the person to be out..

He turned to other side and now the door was facing his back

"Damn!! Who's inside?!! Whoever he is..once he will be out I will.."

He couldn't complete because all of a sudden someone landed on his back! And he quickly composed himself so that he don't fall! She held his blazer tight from behind

He could smell her scent..he understood 'Girl..again! God how much girls drool over him! He smirked

"Listen..I don't mind this but..here? I mean this is a place! We are in the plane! I hope you understand!?" He didn't get any response and that confused him! Why was she not responding?! Something serious?!

He carefully turned to her side and now she was completed holding him..just like giving someone a hug?

"Are you okay?" He asked worriedly but again no response! He felt her hands were now loosing! She left his blazer!

"What's wrong?!" He could hear her heavy breathing! Sh!t something was seriously wrong!!

She was about to fall but how could she fall when the strong 'Manik Malhotra' was with her! He held her! He saw her face for the first time! No make-ups! No liners! No lipsticks! Nothing! Yet so pretty! But this was serious! Her face was so pale! He laid her down carefully..

"Hey! Wake up! You alright?" he shook her a little, her eyes were closed! No response! Was she unconscious? Yes! She was! Sh!t no!

He checked her pulse. He saw her bracelet, simple but perfect! He noticed it has her name engraved in it..

"NAN.." Manik tried to articulate, he looked at the bracelet a little more closer

"NANDINI..."
