He shouted from the door and before she could reach he was gone. Sighing she locked the door and came back. It has been a month, Manik was busy with some project and they would hardly get quality time to spend. Wrapping up her chores, she locked the door and left for her work.

Manik- how is this bloody possible....

He shouted throwing the file on his desk.

Manik- I gave you guys two weeks to make the presentation. A special meeting was called to discuss all the important points related to this project. Were you all sleeping there.

He shouted at his team who was standing there bowing their head down.

Manik- back to work everyone. No more leaves will be granted and I myself will check all the work from here on. Leave!!!

His shirt sleeves were rolled till his elbow and tie loose. His hair were messy and face covered with frowns. He had his spectacles on his eyes making him look devilishly handsome.

Manik- Rohan call Ranveer and tell him to meet me asap!!!

Rohan- but sir HR sir isn't there in the office. Infact he isn't here since two weeks.

Manik- damnn!!! Who the hell is handling the HR department.

Rohan kept quite knowing well he was going to face Manik's wrath if he speaks something.

Manik- I asked you something.

He banged his hand on the table.

Rohan- no one till now.

Manik- great!!! We are definitely gonna bag this deal the way we are working.

Saying this he moved out. He noticed a few employees assembled on a table.

Manik- what's happening here??

He spoke loudly making them jump at their places. Seeing his face, the staff was sure that someone or the other's gonna face his wrath.

"Sir we... we were discussing a... few terms and conditions for the upcoming project meeting", one of the employee spoke.

Manik- are the designs ready???

The person nodded his head in a no. He folded his arms on his chest and spoke

Manik- and by the way which terms and conditions were you discussing. As much as I know this work is done by the HR department and you don't work in that department.

The person looked down being caught.

Manik- you think I'm a fool handling this company. Is it a movie going on here that you people come enjoy and go back??? 

He looked at everyone.

Manik- I want all the designs ready today and no one will leave before completing and submitting the work. Am I clear!!!

And there was an utter silence in the office.

Manik- Am I clear??

He spoke loudly and got a collective positive response. He walked to Anurag's cabin and the staff sighed in relief. Manik knocked the door and hearing a come in entered to find Anurag engrossed in a file. He cleared his throat to gain his attention.

Anurag- Manik??? You need something???

Manik- yes sir... actually I wanted to talk about the upcoming project.

Anurag closed the file and rested his elbow on the table with his hand one on the other giving him a sign to continue.

Manik- we need to post-pone the meeting with the deligates.

Anurag- why???

He asked frowning.

Manik- the team is still not ready with the presentation and the files too have claus.

Anurag- how come is this possible??? We are working on this since past one month. This is height of irresponsibility.

Manik- I'm sorry sir.

Anurag- your sorry isn't acceptable Manik. Being the CEO it was your responsibility and call the HR head too.

Manik- he isn't here. Infact I fear he isn't seeing to this project.

Anurag- why??? Shoots??

Manik nodded.

Anurag- I'll see what can I do. Try to finish the work soon and fire if anyone isn't interested to work. We pay for hardwork not to just come sit and go.

Manik nodded and Anurag dismissed him. Manik left and came back to his cabin. He called Rohan and asked for a coffee.

Manik- bring a strong one and yea get me a paracetamol too.

Rohan nodded and left.

It was post lunch when Nandini was sitting in her cabin free. She was getting bored as there were no more appointments for the day and Abhimanyu was also busy in a surgery. She thought of calling Manik and dialled his no.

Manik on the other hand was busy checking the claus in the files dismissed her call. She called him again which he picked up.

Manik- hello!!!

Nandini- Manik!!

Manik- Nandini is it something important???

He asked.

Nandini- nai mein...

Before she could continue, he spoke

Manik- then don't call untill and unless it's something important.

And cut the call. Nandini looked at the screen and frowned.

Nandini- inhe kya hogya???

"Must be work pressure", she thought and shrugged.

It was six in the evening when Nandini reached home. Freshening herself she made herself a cup of coffee and went to the balcony. After a while she thought of clearing the laundry. She was separating the coloured and white clothes when her phone rang. She put all the clothes in the machine and went out. 

Cutting the vegetable to cook she came back and took out the clothes from the machine.

Nandini- shit!!! Shit!!! Shit!!! Manik ke white shirt ko colour lggya. Shit!!! Ab bharkenge mujhpe...

Sighing she cleared the mess and made her way to the kitchen. She cooked the dinner and dishing it out in the utensils, she came to the living area and sat their watching t.v. .

Eyeing the clock she thought "it's 9:30 aaj Manik itna late kese hogae!!! Phone krke puchti hu....". She dialled his no. thrice and each time it would go off.

"Why isn't he picking up", she thought and frowned. Debating with her mind she dialled Ranveer's no. who picked in the last ring.

Ranveer- hello bhabi!!

Nandini- haa Veer tum kaha ho???

Ranveer- bhabi mein toh Delhi aaya hua hu for shoot..

Nandini- ohh okk!!!

Ranveer- something serious??

Nandini- nai vo I thought you must be in office. Sorry vo mein bhul gai thi tum out of station ho.

Ranveer- bhai abtk ghar nai aae???

Nandini- nai. And he isn't taking my calls too.

Ranveer- aap ruko mein office phone krke puchta hu..

Nandini- Veer!!! Rehne do. It must be something important isi lia shayd vo late hogae hai. I'll wait for half an hour nai toh I'll call.

Ranveer- aap sure ho na??

Nandini- haa mein sure hu. Tum tension mt lo.

Ranveer- okk then good night!!!

Nandini- good night and take care.

She cut the call and sat on the couch holding her head. "Atleast he could have called and informed about him being late", she thought and sighed.  She then waited for an hour and again dialled his no.

"Hadd hogai hai. Insaan ek baar phone uthake bol deta hai I'll be late. Yaha mein pareshaan hoe jaari hu, kitne call krri hu pr nai koi fikr he nai hai", she spoke angrily. She then called Rohan and asked him about Manik

Rohan- bhabi bhai apne cabin mein hai, presentation bna rae hai.

Nandini- aur unka phone kaha hai???

Rohan- phone toh unke pass he hai.

Nandini- Rohan please hand over your phone to him.

Rohan- bhabi, bhai toh bohot gusse mein hai. Aaj toh staff ke bhe bohot watt lgi hai.

Nandini- I'll see. Please phone do unko...

Rohan asked her to hold and went to Manik's cabin.

Rohan- may I come on sir??

Hearing a come in he entered.

Rohan- sir, mam is on hold.

Manik shifted his focus from his MacBook and looked at him. Rohan handed him his phone

Manik- hello!!! Call on my phone.

Saying this he returned Rohan's mobile to him and Rohan went out.

Manik- what???

Nandini- Manik I'm calling you since long?? Why aren't you taking my calls??? I have been waiting for you since long. Ab aaenge!!! Ab aaenge!! Pr nai... atleast you could have informed me about you being late.

She lashed out at him.

Manik- I'm not sitting free here Nandini. There's work pressure so eat and sleep. I'll come when I come...

Nandini- Manik!!!

Manik- and next time when I don't receive your calls take it a sign that I'm busy and don't call again and again.

He spoke and cut the call. Here Nandini looked at the screen and spoke "fine!!! Continue with your work. To hell with me....". She rubbed off her tears and went to their room to get the blanket and pillow. Coming back to the living room she lay the couch and switched on the t.v. and slept unknowingly.

It was four in the morning when Manik returned. Seeing her sleeping in the living room a small smile crept his face. He switched off the t.v. and bent down and caressed her cheeks. Kissing her forehead, he picked her up and took her to their room. He then went to the kitchen and took out a water bottle from the refrigerator pouring himself a glass of water. He noticed the food prepared but untouched. He made a mental note of asking Nandini about it as he was sure she must would have skipped her meal too.

Next morning Nandini woke up and noticed Manik sleeping beside her. "At what time did he return", she thought.

Freshening herself she walked out of the closet to notice Manik already awake and his face dug in his phone. Sparing him a glance she went out. Here Manik did not realise when she walked out of the room. "Itna time kyu lgra hai aaj isse", he thought. He got up to knock the washroom door and found it unlocked already. Peeing inside, he found it empty. He went out and noticed her boiling the milk. He came back and taking his towel went for a shower.

Nandini was in the kitchen when she heard Manik's voice calling her. She walked in the closet to see him standing with an irritated face.

Nandini- what's wrong??

She asked softly.

Manik- yrr meri koi shirt nai milrai. Na white na blue... pta nai kaha rakhti ho tum.

Nandini- vo one of your white shirt mujse kharab hogai aur dusri vaali iron hone gai hai.

Manik- kharab??? How come??

Nandini- vo kl I was washing the clothes aur vo white vaali sb ke saath he wash hogai.

Manik- tch!!! Fine me the blue one then...

Huffing he got aside and she moved forward.

Nandini- nai hai...

Manik- nai hai mtlb?? Kaha gai??

Nandini- may be ironing...

Manik- hdd hai!!! Jb chahea hota hai toh kuch nai milta. Now what should I wear!!! Na white na blue..

Nandini- Manik what's the big deal, wear any other.

Manik- it is a big deal. Tch!!! Get aside I'll see. Jao tum kaam karo apna, I don't want to fight early morning with you.

Saying this he again started finding something apt to wear and she went out.

Manik- I'm leaving...

He spoke moving towards the main door. She walked to him and spoke

Nandini- Manik breakfast toh krke jaea!!!

Manik- nai I'm late already...

Nandini- saat bje koi late nai hai rather it's early...

Manik- tch!! I'll eat in office..

Without saying anything, she pulled his hand and brought him to the dinning table.

Manik- Nandini yrr yeh kya zid hai. Kitna kaam hai krne vaala, I have meetings lined up today... I don't have time.

Ignoring his rants, she went to the kitchen and got him his breakfast. She was about to go to the kitchen when he held her hand

Manik- you did not eat last night why??

Nandini- ese he mann nai tha.

Manik- eat with me...

Nandini- nai you eat I'll eat later.

He was about to say something when his phone rang. Seeing it from office, he picked it uo immediately.

Manik- yea.... I have them... no... let it be... yes... I'm on my way... yea... okk!!!

He got up and took his bag and went out. She called him from behind when he gestured her later. She picked up his half eaten food and took it to the kitchen. Later she too left for her work.

It was evening when Abhimanyu peeped in Nandini's cabin.

Abhimanyu- ooe kya hua??? Muh latkake kyu bethi hai???

Nandini- mujhe kya hua.. kuch bhe nai. Aur apna dimag zada mt laga.

Abhimanyu- jhoot kisi aur ko bolna ha I know you well to guess that you are upset.

Nandini- kuch nai... bs ese hi...

Abhimanyu- acha chood!! Chal kahi bahar chaltay hai it has been long we hanged out together.

Nandini- nai Manyu aaj nai. Aaj mera mann nai hai aur gahr jaane ka bhe time hone vaala hai.

Abhimanyu- chal na. It has been so long. After your marriage we hardly got time to hang out.

Seeing his face she nodded.

Nandini- let me inform Manik. Vo ghar jaake pareshaan na ho not finding me around.

He nodded.

Abhimanyu- parking me aajana haa and I'll ask driver to take your car, I'll drop you.

She nodded and dialled Manik no. and as usual he did not answer. Sighing she left him a message about going out with Abhimanyu. Nandini and Abhimanyu enjoyed the street food and later went to the Band stand.

Abhimanyu- wanna climb up to the fort??

Nandini- let's go I'm in a mood to walk aur mausum bhe bohot acha hai.

Tired, both sat near the sea when Abhimanyu spoke

Abhimanyu- acha ab bata kya hua??

Nandini- I'm worried for Manik.

Abhimanyu- Manik???

Nandini- haa... recently he spents alot time in office. Na unke koi aane ka time hai na jaane ka. Subha ko he misses his breakfast aur raat ko when he comes, I'm asleep. Phone karo toh he's always busy and kai baar toh he doesn't pick only.

Abhimanyu- toh he must be busy na Nandu.

Nandini- manti hu he's busy isilia chup hu pr atleast he should spare some time nothing but alteast for eating na.

Abhimanyu- he's stuck with a project aur Ranveer bhe nai hai yaha to help him out isilia he's being so workaholic. Before your marriage too yahi hota tha. Ranveer wasn't here and Manik used to spent hours in office. Isi baat pe Neyonika aunty bhe pareshaan rehti thi.

Nandini- toh ab mein kya karu??? Baat baat pe gussa hona, chid jana isn't a solution na.

He side hugged and spoke

Abhimanyu- give him some time he'll come around. Yeh project poora hoga na he'll himself realise don't worry.

She nodded.

Abhimanyu- chal ab yeh senti hona band kr and be my chudail...

She hit his arm and spoke

Nandini- chudail nai hu mein. I'm a doll.

Abhimanyu- what a joke...

Saying this he laughed and she hit him.

Nandini- kaminay yeh pathar he marungi tere sar pe...

She spoke picking up a rock and he raised his hands up in surrender and spoke

Abhimanyu- acha sorry!!! Chal ab uth... ghar nai jaana chudail kahi ke.

Saying this he ran away and Nandini ran behind him.

Abhimanyu dropped Nandini home and went back to Murty Mansion. Nandini reached the apartment and tried to unlock the door and to her surprise it was already unlocked.

Nandini- strange!! Lock kese khula hua hai. Kahi Manik???

She entered the house immediately and locking the door went inside. Hearing the shutting of the door, Manik who was in the study came out.

Nandini- Manik aaj aap itni jaldi...

Manik- kyu mein jldi nai aaskta??

Nandini- nai mera vo mtlb nai tha..

Manik- mera chodo apna btao??? Where have you been since long??  Aath(eight) baj rae hai aur tumhara koi atapata hi nai hai....

Nandini- vo I went out with Abhimanyu. Meine....

Manik- you what?? Went out with Abhimanyu!!! here I have been calling you like crazy worried ke don't know what would have happened to you aur tum ek phone bhe nai utha skti. Do you know how worried I was??? I came home early to compensate seeing you sleeping on couch almost daily waiting for me aur ghar aake pata chalta hai ke tum ho he nai. Na tumhari car niche hai, na tum phone uthati ho. Ek call ya text he krdeti ke you are going out pr nai.

She did not say anything and straight away went to their room.

Manik- great!!!

Saying this he walked back to the study.

Here Nandini wiped off the tear which escaped her eye and taking the change went to the washroom.  Preparing the dinner she went to the study to call him.

Nandini- dinner ready hai, come...

Manik- I'm not hungry. You eat...

He spoke, his eyes glued to his laptop screen. She silently went to the kitchen and dishing out the food in a plate came back and placed it on the table beside his laptop.

Nandini- mera gussa khaane pe mt nikalea!!! Meine call kiya tha pr as usual you did not take the call and I did leave the message.

Saying this she went out. Manik checked his phone and freaked out.

Manik- shit!! She did inform... damnn Manik!! Atleast I should have given her a chance to speak pr nai I always have to be a monster.

He went out searching for her and not finding her around, went to their room. He noticed her laying on the bed on her abdomen clutching the pillow tightly. He went near her and feeling him she dug her face more into the pillow. Adjusting the ac temperature he dimmed the light and kissing her forehead went out shutting the door. 

Next day Nandini was working in the kitchen cutting the veggies when she noticed the milk boiling. Leaving the knife she went to the stove and tried to pick up the vessel forgetting to use the kitchen napkin. She flinched feeling the sudden hotness and as a result the hot milk fell on her left hand. Manik came out hearing the noise and noticed her holding her hand wincing in pain. He ran towards her and asked

Manik- yeh kese hua??? Can't you take care of yourself. Dhyaan se nai krskti thi kya??? Look at it kitna jal gaya hai.

He played her hand under tap and she hissed in pain.

Manik- keep it under water, mein ointment laata hu.

Saying this he went to bring the ointment.

Coming back he took her hand cleaned it gently. He was about to apply when Nandini withdrew her hand from his hold.

Nandini- yeh jalega...

Manik- nai jalega...

Nandini- jalega I know...

Manik- Nandini give me your hand.

He spoke sternly. She sniffed and forward her hand.

Manik- I'll be gentle promise nai jalega...

He spoke softly and she nodded like a child. He careful applied the ointment blowing air on it time to time.

Later he left for his work and she left to her's. The day passed in jiffy and it was night Nandini was again waiting for Manik to come. Her phone beeped with a text from Manik "I'll be late. Don't skip your meal and do apply the ointment again. Lock the door and sleep on the bed comfortably".

Sighing she went to the dinning table and ate a little and later went to their room and slept.

Next morning as usual Manik was getting ready and Nandini was in the kitchen inspite of him stopping her and they again had an argument.

Manik- kuch toh krna pdega!!! Kya karu... kya karu...  yrr ek toh I seriously need to control myself. Kahi ka gussa kahi nikal deta hu and end up regretting.

He thought. He was busy in his thoughts when Nandini entered the room. She first went to the washroom and then came to the dressing table. She was moving here and there in the room shifting things here and there. Her face showed as if she would cry anytime. He went to her and holding her elbow turned her.

Manik- finding this??

He showed his palm which held her mangalsutra. Taking her infront of the mirror, he tied the mangalsutra and put the vermilion in her partition. Back hugging her he spoke in her ear

Manik- happy six months anniversary.

Se turned to him and hugged him tight sniffing. He smiled and hugged her back.

Manik- I'm sorry.

And she kept crying.

Manik- baby please stop crying. I'm sorry.

He pulled out of the hug and rubbed her tears. He made her look at him and again mumbled a sorry.

Manik- I made my kitten cry so much, sorry!!!

Nandini- you are bad. Apne mujhe bevajah kitna daata, raat ko kitna late aate rahe aur phir subha ko bhe you used to go early. Parso I went out with Abhi, meine message kiya tha pr you did not read. Mere calls bhe nai uthae. You are bad.

She spoke aniffing.He smiled hearing her complaints and spoke

Manik- acha I'll make it up for you. Pr please forgive me.

She nodded and he kissed her forehead taking her in a hug again.
