MURTHY MANSION

Maya entered the mansion and saw that the hall lights were dimmed and no one was there waiting for her. It was quite surprising for her as her mother always waited for her in the hall when she got late.       

Maya: Wow that is surprising. Mom waits for me over here always. She might me very tired I guess. But what about bhai? Anyways even I am really tired. It is better that they don't see me in this condition.

With this Maya hopped up the stairs and rushed into her room to switch on the lights. As soon as the lights were on she found her mother sitting on her bed with her arms crossed at her shoulders and her brother sitting on the sofa while grinning at her.

Shivaay (while getting up from the sofa): So there is my cute little sister. Where were you my sugar plum?

Maya: In the office where else will I go.

Shivaay: An hour late from the scheduled time, isn't that something fishy?

Maya: Stop twisting things bhai. The distance from office to home is quite long plus there was traffic.

Nandini: Shivaay, she may be right about that. But that doesn't explain that. (Nandini was pointing at Maya's dress)

Maya: Who....

Shivaay: Speak up little monster.

Maya (in her head): Now what will I tell them. I can't tell them what happened today. I have to cook up something.

Nandini: Maya baby, speak up dear.

Maya: See, there were people washing the high raised windows of our canteen. I had entered the hall and one of the buckets had accidently fallen on me. So I got all wet with soapy water. Then I had to borrow extra clothes from my friends.

Shivaay: A wonderful lie. Now speak the truth.

Maya: What? I didn't tell a lie.

Shivaay: Try that with someone else. I will not fall for that stupid trap.

Nandini: Shivaay is right baby, you can tell the truth to us.

Maya walked past Shivaay while glaring at him and sat next to Nandini on the bed.

Maya: See you know I got late for office right?

Nandini: Yes.

Maya: But practically I was early enough to come before our boss. But I had to spoil the situation like always. I did all my things that must be done before he comes and then slept off in his cabin. That monster saw me sleeping and asked to pour buckets of cold water on me. He then made me sit in his cabin with the AC in the most chilled situation. It was clear that he was taking his revenge on me. After sometime, like some angle had fallen down, he asked me to get out of the room and go to the basement to get some files. Taking this as an opportunity I asked people for some spare change but they didn't give me. They were scared of him I guess. I went down to get the files and I got locked the room. The AC's over there was switched on and then I fainted. After that both his dad and he came to collect me from there. After that from some valuable sources I got to know that it was planned by my so called boss and he got a tight slap from his dad for doing the same. But this time no one was stopped from giving me spare clothes.

On hearing each and every sentence, Shivaay's temper had risen to the next level. It was like daggers piercing into his heart. He went to the two ladies and looked at Maya.

Shivaay (angrily): Where does that guy live, tell me. Tell me Maya. I won't spare that bastard.

Nandini (holding his hand): No Shivaay, tu aisa kuch nahi karega. Meri kasam.

Shivaay: But look at what he has done to her.

Nandini: But you did hear what his father had done to him. As long as his father is there, that boy cannot do anything to our princess. And I am sure my daughter is big enough to handle such situations. Was I right in saying that Maya?

Maya: Yes mom, you are absolutely right. (Walking towards her brother and holding his hands) Bhai trust me, I can handle this all by myself. And when I cannot handle it you are there na to save me?

Shivaay (holding her cheeks worriedly): Yes bacha, I will always be there beside you. No matter who comes into my life, I will never leave by your side. You are one of the reasons for my very existence.

Maya (smiling): Then that all that I need.

Shivaay: Oh stop making me emotional.

With this Shivaay pulled Maya for a big, fat hug. Nandini looked that them with tears in her eyes. She prayed for their wellbeing and that their bond should never break for any reason.

Shivaay: Mom, stop standing over there and crying over something useless. We will never be apart, no matter what may come by. SO come and join us.

Nandini ran towards them and hugged them. It was a hug that would never be forgotten by each one of them. Only the one above knew what would happen in their life. Each one of them were definitely going to get a shock.

NEXT DAY

Maya woke up usually early and god ready quick to make a run towards her office. This did shock both Nandini and Shivaay, but Shivaay had a lot more to see today than he expected.

Shivaay was sitting in the hall that was right in front of the main door. He was busy reading the newspaper when his mother came and sat beside him. Nandini waited for him to talk to her but he didn't even glance at her. So she began her tantrums.

Nandini: Iss gharme ko mera khayal nahi rakta. Na mera beta, na meri beti. Koi mujhe pyaar nahi karta.

Shivaay (putting down his laptop aside): Kya baat hai maa? What did I do to you that you have to show these tantrums?

Nandini: Who kya hai na, you know right last time your kicked out our catering manager. So we need a new one to design and arrange all our events and parties.

Shivaay: So you want me to get somebody to do that. Okay then, I will make a call for the same.

Shivaay was about to take him phone but Nandini snatched it from him.

Shivaay: What did I do now? You want to get someone then I have to make a call.

Nandini: No you needn't do that. I have already selected the perfect girl for this and she will be here by now too.

Shivaay (pulling her leg): So my mother is active these days, why don't you join our office and spice up the atmosphere.

Nandini: Shivaay......

Shivaay: Okay okay. But don't you think girls aren't a best choice for this job. I mean it's a men's job.

Nandini: Tu na apne yeh men or women ka dialogue apne pass hi rakho. It won't work over here.

There tiny talk had been interrupted by the doorbell. Nandini stood up to go towards the door.

Nandini: It might be her only.

Shivaay looked towards the door to see who the person was. His inner instincts was saying that he knew this person for sure. The door had opened and a bright light had washed into the hall making Shivaay blind for a while. It took him time to adjust to it. But when he got to see the woman who was entering along with Nandini he stood up with utter shocked and yelled.

Shivaay: Tum!!!!   

PRECAP: WHO DID SHIVAAY SEE THAT HE HAD TO SCREAM. HOW WILL THIS WOMAN IRRITATE THIS YOUNG MAN?
