Hello there...finally i got my laptop fixed and here I am with the update...I am sorry for the delay but I was helpless in this case...

Nonetheless..the update is of over 10K words so I have divided it into two parts...Both the parts will be updated today itself...Without any further ado, let's jump to the update...!!

.....Flashback Continues....!!

Two weeks had gone past since Manik stopped dropping and picking up Nandini. Though the decision had positive impact on Manik's physical health since his muscles got the much needed rest but his mental state was completely opposite since his brain nerves were restlessness because of the tension they were holding, rather overthinking they were busy doing all these days. They say an idle mind is a devil's workshop, and Manik was the latest victim of the idle devil. His insecurities were overpowering his calm to the extent that he failed to realize the turbulence they were causing in his relationship with Nandini. Their relationship was like a newly constructed road, smooth sailing without any bumps in the way but his insecurities were like the rain creating potholes everywhere making it a bumpy ride. Moreover, the sight of so-much-in-love-couples around him was creating a hollow of lonliness in his heart something that Nandini was not aware of primarily because Manik never shared his thoughts with her for he thought that she would understand like always. However, the fact that his over processing mind easily neglected was that earlier he and Nandini used to spend a considerable amount of time together and in such a scenario their silences were comforting, they didn't need words to express since their expression said it all. But in the current scenario, when they get do not get that time for each other, it was the highly important to let silence take the back seat for a while and allow words do all the talking. But as it is said that when someone is heading towards destruction, he or she starts thinking unintelligently or negatively and that is exactly what happened with Manik, all his sensibility and understanding were slowing leaving him.

Nonetheless, One night Nandini called up Manik, Manik picked it up on the second ring

Manik - Hi

Nandini - Hi Manik

Manik - How are you..??

Nandini - Can we meet..??

Manik - of course we can, I shall meet you tomorrow morning

Nandini - not tomorrow but today..can we meet today..!!

Manik - It is too late Nandini, I won't be able to get out of the house and on the top of that I am too tired...I'll meet you tomorrow morning, we'll go for a walk and may be if time permits we could even have breakfast together

Nandini - Hmm..but I wanted to meet today..no worries I'll see you tomorrow then

Nandini disconnected the call. She had called Manik since she was disturbed. She wanted to share it with him but something about the conversation gave her a hint that he was not fine. Not just the conversation, the happenings of the past few days gave her an idea that things are not fine with him, with their relationships. Nandini failed to understand what changed in their relationship. It was not like it was the first time she had called Manik and asked him to meet but this time he outrightly rejected her wish. Manik's behavior was puzzling Nandini but she couldn't pin point what was wrong. She decided to talk it out before the matter goes out of hand. She made a mental note of confronting him when they meet the next morning and thinking this she dozed off to sleep.

Next morning, Nandini was waiting for Manik in front of the hostel. Happiness was brimming on her face since she was excited about meeting him after five days. Soon, she saw Manik's car coming in and she a huge grin made way on her face. Manik parked the car and stepped out, Nandini's smiling and happy face brought a slight smile on his face too. He took a moment to admire girl he was in love with. Nandini walked towards him and before he could realise, she had wrapped her arms around him. As soon as she rested her forehead on his chest with her ear gauging the sound of his heartbeats and arms pulling him closer, his inner turmoil found its much needed peace. He encaged her petite frame in his tight embrace by encircling his hands around her back. Both the souls entwined in the middle of the road knew that they need to let go of their hidden fears and they stayed in that hug for quite some time, may be to gather the courage to speak up. Finally after staying for good ten minutes, they broke the hug

Nandini – I missed this..!!

Manik – I missed you..!!

Nandini – I missed us..!!

Manik (smiled) – Come lets walk..!!

With that they started moving towards the park nearby.

Manik – So how is the reacording going on..??

Nandini – Don't even ask, that guy Harshad, even though he is talented but he is not even close to you guys...He needs a lot of training and so do I but the problem is that he way too distracted...he is taking this album thing way too casually, he never comes on time, it has been more than a month that we have started rehearsing and trust me even till today we are only rehearsing..Idiot fellow.. I tell you..!!

Manik – Calm down...don't you think you get hyper way too quickly these days..See Harshad is a tough nut to crack...you have to be really strict with him...and if he not focusing tell the owners..he would definitely listen to them....He doesn't own the album you see..!!

Nandini – Well technically he does...!!

Manik – Explain..!!

Nandini – You remember that bitch Soha...!!

Manik – yes Harshad's girlfriend and the only girl I have seen you bad mouthing about...!!

Nandini – Well that's because she deserves it...Bloody Physco Bitch..!!

Manik – Nandini language..!!

Nandini – Oh Sorry Daddy...I will control...So that bitch (Manik glared at her)...I mean Soha, she Harshika's sister..!!

Manik – Harshika as in the co-owner...!!

Nandini – Yup..that one and now that Co-owner's sister is his girlfriend, Harshad thinks he owns the album and the studio and what not...You know what sometimes I think he won only because he is owner's sister boyfriend...that guy might be talented but even our choir has better and more focused talents than him...and that girlfriend of his, she is a whole new definition of disturbance and distraction...especially after that slap..I am her favorite scapegoat....you know when they are together, they are like two highly stupid idiots in love..!!

Saying this Manik and Nandini settled down on the chair nearby

Nandini – But why are we talking about them...How about we talk about you Manik...??...

Manik – About me...Nah..there isn't anything interesting going on in my life... Exams are done and I hope I have done fairely well...just waiting for the results...Music too is going on fine..Everything is just the usual..!!

Nandini – And you want me to believe that Manik...I know there is something wrong...but I can't point out what...Please tell me na Manik....Please share your worries with me...You know you can do that right..!!

Manik – Nandini there is nothing that is going on...You are overthinking sweetheart..!!

Nandini – Manik...both you and I know that it is not true...We haven't had a normal conversation since I don't know when...Please Manik..Lets talk...Let it out...whatever it is..Please..!!

Manik – Nandini.....

Manik was cut short by a voice..

Voice – Nandini Murthy is that you..!!

Nandini turned around to look for the source and found an middle aged man behind her..

Nandini – Hi Sir...Good morning..!!

Voice – Good morning Nandini...meet my wife...(Nandini shook hands with her)... You know Sarita, the new album that our company is investing in, she is the lead singer and a very talented one I must say..!!

Sarita – Nice to meet you little one...I have heard a lot about you...!!

Nandini – Thanks Ma'am...Manik...meet Mr. Vashisht, he is the one of our album producers and sir this is Manik, my boyfriend...!!

Mr.Vashisht – What boyfriend...Nandini you are so young...Don't mind me saying you should not indulge into relationships...you are talented and sexy...let the boys drool over you...!!

Sarita – Stop it..he was just joking dear..you guys make a lovely couple..!!

Nandini – Thanks Ma'am...and sir I think the boys should drool over my music and not me...I am sorry..I donot wish to sound offending but I donot wish to become someone's object of desire...that's not my intention or motive..!!

Mr.Vashisht – Oh dear..you took me seriously..as my wife said I was just joking...Anyways..Manik...Am I right..??

Manik – Yes Sir..Manik Malhotra..

Mr.Vashisht – So are you also interested in music..??

Manik – Ye sir..I have a band called Fab5...

Mr.Vashisht – Oh great...young Man you are very lucky to have girlfriend like her... Talented and Famous... Trust me when I say the day is not far away when people would recognize you as her boyfriend... I suggest you to buck up yourself for all the limelight..!!

Nandini – Sir as glad as I would be when I make him proud , I know he doesn't need me to stay in the limelight... he and his band is a group of highly talented people....in fact way better than me..I am no where close..!!

Mr.Vashisht – Is that so... Well we would like to hear you guys someday then....

Sarita – Nandini would mind having a photo with me...I don't know when would we get to meet next...!!

Nandini – Sure Ma'am...

Sarita passed on her phone to her husband who instead of taking it passed it on to Manik.

Mr.Vashisht – I would also like to share the frame with the future rockstar...Manik can you please click our picture.

Manik nodded and clicked their picture. The Vashishts left after exchanging pleasantries with Manik and Nandini. Nandini turned to Manik

Nandini – Sorry for the interruption..so you were saying something..!!

Manik was lost in his thoughts. Nandini shook him a bit to bring him out of it

Nandini – Manik...

Manik – hmm...what..!!

Nandini – You were saying something...where are you lost

Manik – Me...Woh actually I was thinking My life does have something important going on...Well I have a girlfriend who is soon gonna be a famous rockstar...Interesting enough..I guess..!!

Nandini – Manik people will talk you shouldn't take them seriously right until they are ones who matter..!!

Manik – Hmm..Come..My car is parked at your hostel...Let's walk back to the hostel and then I'll leave..!!

Nandini – What leave...what about the breakfast..??

Manik – What breakfast..??

Nandini – Manik you said we would have the breakfast together..!!

Manik – People say a lot of things Nandini we shouldn't take them seriously right..!!

Nandini – Manik you know I didn't mean that way

Manik – I know..I was just joking...I have to go to my college for some work..

Nandini – But breakfast...

Manik – You can have it in your hostel...Comm'on now let's leave Nandini..!!

Saying this Manik started walking while Nandini followed. It was a long walk back so clam and quite, that one could hear what the air whispered. On reaching the hostel, Manik straightway went to his car without even saying a goodbye and just like that a sweet morning got maligned due to some unwanted, undesired, unimportant sourness.

Post the morning incident, Nandini tried attempting a conversation with Manik but everytime, he neglected it. It wasn't like they didn't talk or speak, they did, they were still a couple but with unclarified misunderstandings. Soon it was the weekend and Nandini was in the recording session with Harshad when Soha barged in and started shouting at Harshad. Harshad too retorted in equal pitch. Soon the brawl turned ugly with Soha throwing things at Harshad not caring about the presence of anyone else in the room. Harshika came in after a few minutes with two people unknown to Nandini. One of them held Soha while other gave her an injection and soon Soha drifted off to sleep.

Nandini – What the hell was that..??

Harshika – Soha just gets a little hyper sometimes...Don't worry we have given her the injection..she will be fine once she wakes up..!!

Reeyansh – But Harshika...this has happened for the third time this week...we should take her to the doctor..!!

Harshika – No Reeyansh...this is normal...I have seen the worst days when it comes to her crazy behaviour...trust me she'll be fine when she wakes up...She is not Mad after all...she is normal...Sorry for all the trouble guys.. I'll get this cleaned up..you can resume your recordings then

Nandini - I can't....I am way to disturbed...I shall work extra hours tomorrow...but today I can't record...Sorry Guys..I am done for the day.. (Saying this she left but turned just before reaching the door)...Harshika it might not be my place to speak in but Reeyansh is right..Soha needs help..!!

Nandini walked out of the recording room. Soha's behavior had shaken her to the core. Frightened and petrified, she picked up her phone to call Manik. She opened her phone only to find over ten missed calls and a message from Manik, a message that left her aghast and numb. She took her belongings and rushed to Manik's place. The house help told her that Manik's friends have taken him to the hospital and she rushed to the hospital. She was standing outside the operation theatre when Cabir spotted her.

Cabir – Thank God Nandini you are here.

Nandini – I saw his missed calls and the message asking me to come fast as his stomach was hurting... What happened...How is he..??

Mukti – Where were you all this while...??

Nandini – I was little caught up...sorry..!!...Please tell me na ....How is he..??

Cabir – He is in the operation theatre...let us wait for the operation to be successful...

Just then the doctor came out.

Doctor – Congratulations, the operation was successful...he is fine..You can meet him in a couple of hours

Cabir – Thanks Doctor...

Doctor – No worries..let me inform the elder Malhotras as well...I am sure they must panicking in Sydney..I'll just tell them their son is fine...

Doctor left and soon Manik was shifted to the ward. Everyone sat outside waiting for him to gain consciousness. About an hour later, Nandini got a call from Amms and she moved a little far to attend it. While Nandini was on call, Manik regained consciousness and the nurse came out to inform the group about the same. They rushed in to meet him. Nandini found the corridor empty when she returned after the call, she spotted the nurse who was treating Manik and she informed her that Manik had regained consciousness. Elated with the news she rushed into the room. Cabir who was sitting beside him got up to give Nandini the space to settle in

Nandini – How are you Manik..??

Mukti – Well not dead though..!!...Thank goodness he called us, he would have been dead by now if he had relied on you

Manik – Mukti..!!

Mukti – What Manik..listen change your SOS since your girlfriend is too busy with her work, call us whenever you are in trouble..Okay..!!

Nandini – I was in the recording Mukti..We are not allowed to carry our phone in there..I am sorry Mukti...!!

Mukti – Your sorry won't lessen the trouble my brother went through...You are responsible for his condition..Admit it..!!

Cabir – Shut up Mukti...Manik's appendix inflamed and he was in acute pain...He must have called Nandini, and as she said phones are not allowed in the recording room..come'on we all know that...The rule book of any recording studio will tell you phones are allowed....even the doors have hangings specifying the same...She didn' t ask the appendix to inflame and such things to happen...how is she responsible..

Mukti – If she had answered the call, this wouldn't have happened

Cabir – Well in case you aren't aware of, once the appendix gets inflamed, it has to be removed, the operation is this case was inevitable..Stop blaming her...

Mukti – Well the pain would have reduced...A quick action could have been taken..

Manik – Mukti and Cabir...Stop it...I need to sleep...everyone out of the room now..!!

Everyone except Nandini moved to the door. Nandini's hand was over Manik's. Manik jerked her hand and said a little louder tone

Manik - Wasn't I clear...I want everyone out..!!

Nandini looked at Manik startled, she got up and started moving out. Nandini was not a cry baby, she was not someone who would cry on everything and anything. Her crying meant that she was deeply hurt and pained. While moving towards the room's door tears moistened her cheeks. She got out and sat on the chair without speaking a word. Mukti kept accusing her, Cabir kept defending her, everyone else was a mute spectator while all this while Nandini was silent just silent. Soon it was night and everyone except Nandini and Cabir went back home on Cabir's insistence. Cabir decided to stay back while Nandini had turned unresponsive to the environment and no one even tried to talk to her or console her. She sat on the chair with tears rolling down, everyone saw it but no one gave her the shoulder to cry on. Cabir tried asking her for food but she didn't reply rather sat their numb. Seeing no way out, Cabir went in the room and found Manik awake.

Cabir – Manik, Nandini's condition is bad..she needs you right now...Mukti's words have damaged her a lot..Please talk to her please..!!

Manik – She didn't leave...I thought she must have left by now..

Cabir – Are you crazy...that girl is sitting like a crying statue on the chair outside bearing all the allegations alone...and you are saying that you thought she left...What is wrong with you Manik..??

Manik – Nothing...she didn't come to meet..that is why I thought...

Cabir - Didn't come to meet..??.. weren't you the one who asked her to leave you alone

Manik - whatever.. bring her in...and listen get something from the canteen for her to eat...

Cabir smiled and went out. He shook Nandini and asked her to get in as Manik was calling her. She got up and aimlessly walked inside his room. She stood by his bed post. Manik lifted his hand in air gesturing her to sit by her side. She silently sat on his bed side.

Manik – Tears..I make you cry a lot these days I guess...!!

Nandini shook her head in denial while Manik chuckled

Manik – I can see that...your swollen eyes can't lie...come'on stop crying....you are supposed to be hot and desirable and not a crying and sulking figure..!!

Nandini's eyes shot up hearing his words. She was about to say something when Cabir came in

Cabir – Sorry, the canteen is closed...all I could manage was this Sandwich..!!

Manik – Thanks Cabir...keep it on the table..and you may leave now..I am fine..or may be you can wait around just in case I need any help...!!

Cabir – Umm..okay..I'll just call Navya and ask her if she has reached home...!! (Cabir left the room)

Manik – Now I am sure you must have not eaten anything..Go eat the sandwich..You have recording to do...you would need energy for that..you can't go around skipping your food...Go and eat..!!

Nandini – Manik...I am sorry...I should have answered the call...!!

Manik – But you didn't...(taking a pause)...you didn't because you couldn't...in fact even I am responsible for the deterioration in my health...I knew today being a weekend, you would be busy recording...you even told me yesterday that finally you would record your first song but I guess the pain knocked me out of my senses and I kept calling you..It is not your fault...It is mine and I am taking the responsibility as well..You shouldn't stress over the same..go and eat..!!

Nandini – Manik..

Manik – Nandini I said go and eat now..and no more tears okay..!!

Nandini got up and ate the sandwich. She wanted to cry her heart out but Manik's order refrained her from doing so. It was for the first time after the operation that Manik spoke with but his words lacked the comfort that her heart was seeking rather she felt misunderstood with every word he spoke. She finished her sandwich as Manik watched her from the corner of his eyes. She got up and stood next to him.

Manik – Done with the food...Good..chalo now you take the couch and sleep..!!

Nandini knew speaking anything at the moment is useless. She rather let her actions take the charge. She bent down and gave a long soul searing kiss on his forehead. Manik closed his eyes in response and a tear escaped his eyes. She turned to leave when Manik held her hand and she turned

Manik – The blanket is not that warm..increase the AC temperature else you'll feel cold...Switch off the lights too before sleeping and remember no crying

Saying this he left her hand. She did as instructed and slept on the sofa wrapping her body in the blanket. She looked at Manik once before closing her eyes. Sleep was far away but she knew there was not point of keeping the eyes open. She wanted to ask Manik to let her cry because at least then she would be able to let go of a bit of her pain but she was helpless. Soon Cabir too entered and dozed off without disturbing either of them.

Next morning. Everyone came in to meet Manik. Mukti informed him that the elder Malhotra clan, that includes his and her respective parents and their grandmother had left Sydney. They would reach by night. They all were busy chatting and pulling one another's leg. But all this while, Nandini sat in the corner of the sofa silently. Cabir tried bringing her into the conversation but Mukti again started off with her taunts. Manik did ask Mukti to stay quiet and she obliged post which everyone just ignored and neglected Nandini for they thought bringing her into the conversation could make things ugly. Nandini's state, however, did not go unnoticed by Manik and Cabir. Nandini got a call and she headed out to attend it while Manik gestured Cabir to follow her. Cabir too followed his instructions and moved out.

Nandini (on call) – Hi...I am sorry there is an emergency I won't be able to join you today........Oh...ok how is Soha...??.......This is not a good news.....(Cabir could hear the conversation from now on)....Anyways I can' t come today...we can record next week........No things are not fine.........I can't explain them to you..... Thanks Reeyansh....I'll tell you if I am coming tomorrow.... Bye..!!

Nandini turned around to find Cabir waiting

Cabir – You can go for the recording...it is okay...We all are here...!!

Nandini – No Cabir...I donot wish to leave right now... It is okay, the recording is anyways cancelled...!!

Cabir – All okay...you look disturbed..!!

Nandini – Nothing all good...don't worry...Let's get in..!!

Cabir – Nandini...please don't mind what Mukti said...She is not in the right frame of mind!!

Nandini – So accusing me will put her in the right frame right...Nonetheless Mukti needs to vent out...I am glad she has found a scapegoat in me...At least she can let it all out...No worries...I won' t say it doesn't hurt but I am getting used to it...Let's get in...!!

Nandini and Cabir got in, Cabir carried a tensed expression on his face while Nandini was as before, expressionless. The group welcomed Cabir and started talking with him while Nandini again became non – existant. Manik raised his eyebrow towards Cabir to ask whats wrong, while Cabir just mouthed recording and Mukti in response. Manik nodded his head in understanding

Manik – Guys I need to sleep..!!

Mukti – Sure brother..we'll move out...!!

Everyone started moving out

Mukti – Nandini didn't you hear Manik needs to sleep...we need to move out...You should anyways head for your recording..!!

Nandini – I donot have any recordings today Mukti..!!

Mukti – Really..is that right....Well that good...you weren't around when you were needed while today when it can be managed, you've taken a day off...What is the use now Nandini...Oh wait...What a way to earn brownie points...Kudos...good move Nandini..!!

Manik – Mukti enough...you seriously need to stop...and Nandini I am fine you do not need to cancel your recording because of me...!!

Nandini – Manik...I want to stay and I am not going anywhere and you shouldn't worry about the recording..It is already cancelled...Reeyandh had called me to inform that..!!

Manik – the recording is cancelled as is..and Mukti you tought that Nandini is sacrificing or earning brownie points...!!

Just then Navya noticed a bruise on Nandini's hand. Last day, she was wearing a jacket so no one noticed the bruise.

Navya – Nandini, what happened to your hand, as far as I remember there was nothing of this sort visible yesterday morning

Navya's question refreshed yesterday's recording room incidents. Nandini got this bruise when the headphone that Soha had thrown in anger hit her hand. Recalling last day's event rushed panic into her blood which did not get unnoticed by anyone.

Dhruv – Nandini is everything okay...the bruise looks bad...how did you get it..??

Nandini – (composing herself) Yes Dhruv everything is fine...don't worry about the bruise...even I am not aware how I got it..!!

Manik knew she was lying as she was avoiding the eye contact all through the conversation, plus her panicked face told a different story. But he thought that she didn't wish to share and did not indulge into it any further. What he failed to realise that all she wanted was him to speak up and she would let it all out. But he failed to understand her and misunderstood her once again.

Manik – No worries..get it treated before it turns sour.

Nandini nodded and walked out leaving Manik alone with his thoughts. Soon it was night and Manik's family too landed and paid him visit at the hospital. His father and uncle went to the doctor to get an update while his mom, aunt and dadi moved to his room. They were not surprised to find Nandini in the room as everyone was very well aware of their relationship. The Malhotra ladies blessed her and insisted her to go back home since it was already late. On the top of that, Manik parents wished to stay with him and she did not wish to interfere in their family time. She bid everyone goodbye and left with Cabir as it was already eleven and Dadi did not allow her to go alone. The Malhotra men entered in after Nandini left. A few moments later, Manik's uncle and aunt left the hospital with Dadi.

Nandini reached hostel and realized that she forgot the keys in the hospital room or may be in the recording studio. After knocking for about fifteen minutes a sleepy Navya opened the door.

Nandini – navya sorry, my keys got misplaced..sorry for disturbing your sleep...!!

Navya- Well it is nothing new...you seem to forget a lot these days...well I don't blame you after all you are going to be a star, there is a lot on your plate right..You are not vela like us...!!

Nandini absorbed her taunt and it had become Navya's habit to pass sarcastic comments every now and then. Nandini ignored it and moved to the washroom to freshen up.

Navya – Nandini..I am sleepy..please switch off the light...!!

Nandini – Navya just five minutes...I was in the hospital..didnt get a chance to take a bath..I'll be quick I promise..!!

Navya – But I won't be able to sleep with lights open..my sleep anyways got disturbed due to your knock..!!

Nandini – ok I'll switch off the light...you can sleep..Good night..!!

Navya – Fair enough...Good night..!!

Nandini moved to the washroom post switching off the room lights. The warm water on her body unleashed the pain she her heart carried for almost two days now and she busted into silent yet trembling sobs. After crying for about half hour in the washroom, she came out and carefully reached her bed bumping into the table in the midway which she couldn't see since the room was dark. She caressed her recent injury before dozing off to sleep.

A few more days passed . Nandini's days got busier with her exams and project submissions hovering over. Nandini was in a lot of stress and Manik's behavior and Navya's taunts were not helping her cause. Everything around her left her confused and baffled but more than anything else it all left her hurt. Soon it was Manik's birthday, a day that also signified a year of Manik and Nandini's relationship. Around the same time, Nandini had to present a project which involved competitive analysis of various fashion brands. It was a team project with every team comprising of two members each. Nandini's partner in the project was Aryamann. A day before Manik's birthday, Nandini and Aryamann were visiting various fashion stores in Phoenix Mall. Once they were done with the survey, Nandini went to a gift shop to buy a birthday gift for Manik. Both Nandini and Aryamann were unaware of the two pairs of eyes watching them. They were chatting, laughing and having a good time completely oblivion to how their little fun time is being perceived. Nandini decided to complete her entire project work before commencing Manik's birthday celebration so that she could spend the entire day with him without any tension hovering over her head. She even took a day off from the album studio. She had reserved her entire day for Manik, for the quality time to be spent together.

Nandini reached Manik's home around 11:00 at night after finishing off all her work.

Mukti – Look guys the celebrity is here...Hello Ma'am...how come you are an hour early...it is still an hour to go for Manik's birthday...you should have made the last minute entry just like the star..!!

Cabir – Mukti please not again...it is Manik's birthday for Christ's sake...!!

Manik – Nandini glad you are here...where were you all this while..!!

Nandini – I was busy with the project work with Araymann...Sorry for being late..!!

Manik – Oh Araymann...Ya right..!!...How is he...it's been quite some time that I had met him...!!

Nandini – He is fine Manik...In fact it is good that we are project partners...We have been working together on various projects since a long time now..so that tuning is there..!!

Alya – Yes that was clearly visible..!!

Nandini – Visible as in...??
