Chapter 1 -Hostage-

A quiet groan was heard as a young man slowly opened his eyes. Laying there on the cold floor, he stared at the ceiling before his eyes widened. The man shot up, looking around the room he was in. It was dimly lit, there was only one light on near the door. His breath quickened as he looked at his arms, surprised to find that the burn marks and scratches were mostly gone. This discovery led him to wonder how long he was unconscious. Before he was able to ponder about the question there was a loud noise outside the door. Startled, he froze while staring at the door.

The man was petrified with fear as the door handle slowly turned, letting light shine through the small crack. A loud creak was heard as the door slowly opened, ringing through the hallway. Standing there in the entrance was a large dog with several tails. It had a brown and black coat with ears that twitched in the direction of any sound. Surprisingly the canine was using one of their long tails to open the door while a few others were holding all sorts of items. Wide eyed, the boy dragged himself back only to find that one of the stone walls was blocking his way. The creature took a step forward making the man flinch, bracing for an attack. Noticing this the dog lets out a small whimper. The beast slowly walked towards the freighted man, like a parent to a terrified child. Small clicks were heard as it approached.

The man, with his eyes shut tight and arms over his face, was surprised as he felt something warm and wet touch his leg. Looking up, startled, he saw the dog had sat down in front of him. It's tails were blades of grass in a gentle breeze as it looked at the boy with gentle eyes. Obviously confused the man stared back before noticing something. This particular beast had an ID label tied around one of its ears. Now that he was paying attention to it he noticed that the tip of the ear was flat, like it had been cut off, and there were small scars around the base of it. Slowly the man reached up, careful to see how the canine responded. The dog looked at him, head tilted slightly, as he looked at the ID tag. "Subject 002130A." The man's voice was horse as he spoke, clearing up slightly as he leaned back against the wall.

Noticing how the stranger's voice sounded weird the Akita pulled one of its tails forward. The man looked down at it, noticing how the tails on the dog faded from their natural colors to slightly different shades of red. After a moment of confusion the dog moved it's tail slightly, revealing a small flask with a clear liquid in it. The man assumed it was water but took the liquid cautiously in his scarred hands. The dog nudged his hand using one of its many long tails. Slowly the man raised the cold glass to his cracked lips and took a small sip. It had a metallic taste, similar to blood, but other than that it seemed fine. After a moment of hesitation the boy chugged the water in the flask, sighing slightly as he put it down. He glanced at the dog before noticing that the creature was sniffing at his left arm. Startled, he backed up a little, flinching.

Unlike last time the Akita was persistent. It gently bit down on the sleeve of his lab coat and tugged slightly. While the man tried to pull away the dog managed to rip off part of his sleeve. The man struggled and the Akita let out a loud bark, grabbing onto his arm again. He kicked the canine off of him, almost launching it into the wall. Luckily the creature managed to stay upright. The man shakily stood up, using the wall for balance to avoid falling over. He jumped as the dog howled, the sound echoed through the building. He started to run for the door before multiple howls echoed back. The man bolted out the door, the beast gave chase. Clicks, clatters, and clangs could be heard echoing through the hallway. The young man panicked as he approached the source of the sound. As he ran closer he saw them, three mutated dogs and a few other animals blocking his way. He skidded to a halt before being tackled by the large Akita behind him. The creature wrestled him to the floor and looked up at the others, letting out loud barks and yips. As this was happening the man felt his adrenaline leave his body, making him realize how tired and fatigued he was. His vision started to fade, making him close his eyes as he breathed heavily. A loud yowl was heard as he felt something wet touch his face. Before he could say anything he slowly drifted into the realm of unconsciousness. The last thing he heard or felt was a loud thud and something dragging him along the cold, white floor.
