48 Finally...

Part 48 Finally

"What video? You are lying. I didn't talk to anybody. It's not true" Dev yelled.

"Mr. Dev Sinha, you have a reputation in this area. That's why we are talking to you respectfully. Otherwise, we won't show any mercy to the one who is involved in the drug dealing" they warned.

"This is not fair, officer. You guys are intentionally doing this, joining your hands with the collector. It must be his plan" Dev talked illogically because there was no connection between Narcotics and the district collector. The Narcotics would take action against anyone if they received a complaint.

"Why does the collector do this to you? What's the purpose?"

"He is arresting all my men recently to trap me. As he could not do it, he is finally applying this trick. I won't fall into it. I will call my lawyer..."

"You will get the chance to prove yourself. Now walk with us"

"No... I won't. you will kill me in an encounter for sure..."

"Encounter? Why would we encounter you? The police will encounter only criminals"

"Then, you will definitely encounter me" he stammered.

"So, you are accepting that you are a criminal who deserved to be killed in an encounter..." The officer chuckled and the others laughed.

In no time, Dev ran inside the room and locked the door. Without any second thought, the officers started breaking the door. When they broke the door, they saw Dev standing with a gun, pointing at them. The senior officer gestured something to his junior who nodded yes.

"Mr. Dev Sinha... I warn you. drop the gun. we will give you a chance. The man, you sent to the Collector Sir's house with drugs is your man. We know that. if he became an approver, you will not have any chance to get rid of prison. Mind it"

"Stop threatening me. you can't surrender anyone against me because there is no one like that"

"Don't be in the illusion, Mr. Dev...! Search..." The Senior officer ordered.

In no time, a few officers rushed to search for him. One of them saw Sultan in the next room but he didn't react to it and left the place as if he didn't see him. The next minute, they dragged the man who went to GH with the blue bag. Dev was horrified to see them dragging him.

"This is the last warning. Surrender yourself, Mr. Dev" he approached Dev.

"I won't..." Dev shot him.

The bullet hit the officer's shoulder and he slid to the ground. All of them were shocked and rushed to him. Using the chance, Dev ran pushing them.

"Shooottt..." the senior officer ordered.

The next second, others shot Dev. He fell to the ground living his precious life in the blink of an eye. The man who lived his life without caring about anyone lay on the ground have no one to care about.

The news spread all over the city. Aman called Arnav who was sleeping. Arnav attended the call.

"Hello..."

"Sir, Dev Sinha's chapter is over"

Arnav opened his eyes wide open.

"Whaaat?"

"The Narcotics have shot him today, sir"

Arnav put Khushi on the bed slowly who was sleeping on his chest and sat on the bed.

"What happened?"

Aman told him everything in detail.

"The report is getting ready, sir. The Narcotics recorded his actions. They will submit it in court. They shot him only after he shot the officer. It will help them to avoid the Human Rights Commission's inquiry, I suppose"

"That's great... let them complete the formalities. We will not be allowed into the case. So, there is no use of me to come now"

"Yes, sir... we don't have to go there. We will get to know the clear picture tomorrow"

"Mmm"

"Good night sir"

"Good night"

Arnav lay on the bed and hugged Khushi. It was REALLY a Good night for him. The only obstacle to the growth of the district was gone. The beauty of the scenario was, that Arnav didn't do anything to make it possible but Dev Sinha himself dug his own grave. He himself brought the Narcotic to the district to trap Arnav but for his bad luck, he himself got trapped in and left his life too. That too by the Narcotics. So, no one could accuse Arnav of Dev Sinha's death that he was the one who killed Dev Sinha by bringing the Narcotics because Narcotics would not come under the district collector's control. More than that, from here on, his district people would live happily and the district would be corruption-free. He kissed Khushi's hair smilingly, feeling glad.

The next morning

Khushi was disturbed by the phone ring. That woke Arnav too. He knew what would be the phone call about. Someone was calling her to convey Dev Sinha's death matter. Maybe, her parents or one of her friends. Khushi attended the call.

"Hello, Amma, why are you calling me early in the morning? Is everything all right?"

Arnav smiled.

"Relax... don't panic... Dev Sinha is dead. Police killed him in an encounter"

"Whaaaat? When?" Khushi was shocked.

"Last night. They shot him in his house. It seems they went to interrogate him about the man who came to GH with the seed balls bag. Dev Sinha argued with them and shot them in anger..."

"Is it? Who said?"

"Narcotics recorded the happenings. It's the flash news, running in all the channels..."

"Oh..."

Taking the remote, Khushi turned the TV on. It was a clear recording of Dev Sinha shooting the officer.

"Mom, he was the one who shot the police first..." Khushi said.

"Yes, that's why they shot him in an attempt to protect them. How would they leave him if he shot them?"

"Don't know if Payal knows about it"

"Why not? Everyone knows..."

"I will have to go to the funeral"

"That's why I called you early in the morning. She will be alone. Go and be with her. After all, he is her father"

"Yes, she hates him. It doesn't mean, she doesn't love him"

"What about Damadji? Doesn't he know about it?"

Khushi looked at Arnav who was watching the news, keeping his hand under his head. The way he was watching the TV without showing any expression on his face told her that he would have known about Dev Sinha's death.

"He knew I suppose..." she said looking at him.

Arnav smiled lifting his eyebrows.

"Ok, come to GH. I will also join you"

"Sure"

They disconnect the call. Khushi looked at Arnav.

"Arnavji..."

"Get ready. I will also come with you" Arnav said.

"Where?"

"Where else? To Dev Sinha's funeral..."

"Will you come?"

"Of course, he is the only one who gave me a tough time in this district..."

Khushi nodded yes.

"What about Shyam? Was he there on the spot?" Khushi asked.

"No... he was arrested last evening"

"Arrested? But why?"

"He is also involved in the plan of Dev Sinha"

"How do you know?"

Arnav smiled.

"Haan... you have hands in this district after all"

"I too thought so but when the man came to GH to give you the drugs, I understood I should tight the protection more. So, I did that and Shyam was arrested"

"But how was he careless?"

"Who was careless? Shyam? They had another plan to trap us if plan A failed. He would not have accepted his accusation if the narcotics had not arrested him with a drug dealer"

"Is it? Was he with him?"

"Yes, they were the ones who brought a drug dealer to our district. So, the Narcotics rounded him up"

"They deserve it"

"Yes, there is no forgiveness for those who do wrong knowing that what they are doing is wrong"

"I think hereafter, no one dares to do wrong in our district"

"Hopefully..."

"Shall we go?"

"Yeah, get ready..."

Khushi went to the washroom to get fresh. They got ready and went to GH to pick up Garima to attend Dev Sinha's funeral. To their surprise, there were very few people at the funeral. People were even scared to get part in his funeral as they didn't want to get into any problem as he was involved in a drug dealing case.

Arnav remembered a little story. A king raised a Dog. When the dog died, everyone cried like hell but when the king died, no one cried.

Arnav looked at Dev Sinha's dead body thinking about the king. Our funeral would say how we lived. Dev Sinha's funeral said he didn't earn people for himself. All those who were with him were with him, only for his money and power, not for him. Even Payal didn't cry but stayed firm which made him feel bad for her.

He made no one happy while alive and made no one cry after his death. Arnav sighed.

To be continued...
