14 Direct HIT

Part 14 Direct HIT

Khushi didn't know how to take Arnav's prank. She sighed and called Payal to tell her what Arnav told her about the bathroom expenses. Payal did not take it seriously. In fact, she wanted her father to be subjected to the IT raid. That was why she voluntarily involved her cement agency in it.

"I will take care of it, Khushi"

"I will come with you if you want to meet anyone regarding this," Khushi said.

"No need Khushi. I will talk to them on the phone" she said as she had no idea to meet anyone regarding this.

"Will they respond?"

"Definitely... If I call them"

"Ok, then" Khushi didn't dig more as she knew Payal's voice in their district. After all, she was Dev Sinha's daughter.

"Did Vivek start working on the specs?" Payal said.

"He gave me the list of needed things. He will start working on it as soon as he gets the things"

"Send it to me. I will order them online"

"Yup"

"By the way, how are you now?"

"Feeling better"

"Did you go to the hospital?"

"Going to..."

"You said you feel better now?"

"Yeah... but Mom wants me to go to the hospital" She lied to Payal and didn't tell her that it was Arnav who wanted her to go to the hospital.

"That's a wise idea"

"Mmm"

"Anything else?"

"Today your father went to Collector's office to meet the Collector sir"

"Is it?"

"Yes, it seems your father warned him"

Payal bit her teeth.

"Don't know what else this man is going to do to make me regret being his daughter. He is making me feel low not missing a chance...! On one side, I'm trying hard to do something for society and this man is demolishing everything. See, one day I'm going to mix poison in his food" She sneered.

Khushi was silent. She knew Payal. Feeling bad to be Dev Sinha's daughter became a regular routine for her these days... in fact, it was increasing day by day.

"Relax Payal. Everything has its end. One day this will also end"

"I wish that day will come soon"

"Mmm"

"Bye"

"Bye" Khushi disconnected the call sighing.

She had to go to the hospital now. She felt weary. She was feeling much better now but she could not avoid going to the hospital. She thought to call her nurse friend to ask for a few medicine names to tell Arnav, in case he called her as she had no mood to go to the hospital. At the same time, if she got a fever again, he might guess what she did. She didn't want to be a cheater in his eyes. So, she got ready for the hospital and came out of her room.

"Amma, I'm going to the hospital"

"do you still have a fever?" she touched her forehead.

"My body is aching, Amma. Eyes are burning" She exaggerated to go to the hospital.

"It's nothing but bad eyes...! Every eye was only on you when you stood next to the collector, this morning. Wait" She went to the kitchen and brought dry chilies and salt.

She circled them around Khushi three times.

"Go carefully..."

Khushi nodded ok and came to the clinic where she usually got treated which was in the Collector's office road. She came to the clinic and got the token. There were twelve members before her. She came out of the clinic as there was no free chair in the clinic.

She saw the school students drinking juice in the opposite juice shop. They were laughing sharing a joke it seemed. Suddenly, a car that lost its control advanced them. The girls who saw that got alert and moved away but a girl who was facing her back to the car was unable to notice it. The car hit the girl and she was thrown away. Khushi was horrified to see the girl in the pool of blood. People surrounded the girl. Her friends cried standing in the distance having no guts to touch her.

Khushi rushed to the girl. In no time, her eyes tear up seeing her condition. How happy she was a few minutes ago...! She checked her pulse and sighed in relief as the girl was alive.

"Please, someone stop an auto" she shouted while lifting the girl, putting effort.

No auto stopped as it was a police case. They knew they would have to visit the police station and court for the case, leaving all their work. Khushi looked at the girl agitated. She saw a car with a siren stopping in front of her and Arnav got down from the car. Without thinking of anything, he took the girl from Khushi's hand and gestured her to get into the car. He placed the girl in Khushi's lap and asked Krish to go to the hospital.

Khushi was restlessly looking at the girl and wiping her tears. Arnav saw her crying. No wonder she cried. She was a social worker after all. She became a social worker because she could feel other's pain. As she had WETNESS in her heart, she could not keep her eyes from getting WET seeing other's pain.

Seeing the collector's car entering the GH premises, the hospital became feverish. Arnav got down and shouted for a stretcher. In no time, a few hospital staff brought a stretcher in a rocket speed.

The girl was taken to the operation theater without any formalities as she was brought by the collector. Khushi wiped her tears with her shoulder as her hands soaked in blood.

Arnav looked at the Davali and called him.

"Mr. Subam"

"Yes, sir?"

He gestured something. Subam rushed to the reception and told them something. They rushed to Khushi and asked her to wash her hands. She walked to them and washed her hands with soap. They gave her sanitizer. She used it and came to Arnav.

"Thank you, sir"

"For?"

"For bringing US to the hospital"

"Hello, Miss... I too have responsibility..." though he said teasingly there was no smile on his face as he knew they were being watched.

"But you are busy"

"Yeah, busy saving a life"

Khushi smiled.

"Thank God, you smiled"he said plainly.

"You can go, sir. I will take care of the girl"

"Why?"

"You must have some work|

"Actually, I'm doing my work only"

"But...?"

"I'm examining the hospital"

Khushi raised her brows.

"Actually, we planned to do it tomorrow but, the situation led me to do it today itself"

Khushi ran her eyes in the hospital which became pin-drop silent.

"By the way, how are you now? Don't you have a fever?"

"I came to the clinic only, sir. That was when the accident held"

"Oh..."

Arnav looked at the nurse who was in the reception.

"Sister, check if she has a fever" he said.

"Yes, sir"

She hurried to Khushi with a Thermometer and kept it under her tongue.

"She has a slight fever, sir. 99 degree"

"Does she need an injection?"

The nurse didn't know whether she should say yes or no as the injection was not necessary but she had no gut to say NO to the collector.

"It's a mild fever... I don't want an injection" Khushi said.

"Doesn't she need an injection?"

The nurse nodded yes hurriedly.

"Inject her," Arnav said seriously.

The nurse asked another one to bring an injection. Khushi closed her eyes.

"Are you scared of injection?"

Khushi nodded no.

"It doesn't seem so" he teased again without smiling.

The nurse came with the injection and was supposed to inject Khushi, Arnav said,

"Carefully..."

The nurse injected Khushi more carefully who injected hundreds of people every day. Khushi rubbed her hand. Arnav tried not to smile because they were being watched.

"Thank you, sir," Khushi said.

"For making them injecting you?"

"For asking me to go to the hospital"

"I didn't get you"

"I would not have gone to the hospital if you didn't insist on me. Then I would not have gotten a chance to save the girl"

"The girl is the one who should thank you. If you had not been there, no one would have saved her..."

"But, you were there...you would not have left her helpless," she said.

"Shall I tell you the truth?"

"What truth, sir?"

"If you were not there, I might not have brought her in my car but I would hired an auto for her"

Khushi didn't know what to say.

"But, she would have been saved however"

"Maybe..."

They saw Aman rushing with a few staff.

"Are you ready Aman?"

"Yes, sir"

"Start..."

The collector's staff scattered in every direction and started examining the hospital. They found dirty bed sheets on the beds. Medical waste was piled in the backyard of the hospital. The place was found unclean. The hospital staff were horrified.

While the team examined the hospital, Arnav inquired the public about the treatment and response of the doctors and nurses. He was highly disappointed with the statements. He issued a MEMO for those who were dissatisfied people. A few doctors, nurses, and compounders got memos.

The dean rushed to the hospital and stood in front of Arnav.

"This is how the hospital works? A hospital should be a place to heal patients and not a place to stress them out"

The dean gulped down hard.

"I can remove you from the position right now but I'm not here to punish you but to serve people. I will give you one last chance to correct all your mistakes. If I find any mistakes again, you will not only be removed from your post but I will recommend the medical council to confiscate your certificates" he warned.

Khushi was stunned to see his strict actions. She wondered. He was supposed to examine the hospital the next day but the situation led him to come to the hospital today itself. Without wasting the chance, he used it in his favor. At the same time, he saved the girl too. There was no beating around the bush in his matter but only direct HIT. His fearless actions made her worried. At the same time, she saw hope in the public's faces. They blessed Arnav wholeheartedly. it was so blissful.
