Park Soomi
"What the hell is this?" I fumed, eyes darting between Taehyung and the girl. Despite the pure anger I was trying to emanate, I couldn't help the tears beginning to gloss over my eyes.
My mouth gaped open as the girl latched onto his arm, intertwining her hand with his. It hurt even more how he didn't push her off. Instead, Taehyung leaned in towards her, whispering something into her ear.
She nodded in response, finally letting go of him and heading back into the house.
"Wow, you've finally managed to detach yourself from her. Man, I can't wait to hear you try and explain this."
"Look, Soomi, Iβ"
"You know, I can't believe that while I was feeling guilty about how we left things, you were just here screwing another girl!" I shouted while forcefully closing the umbrella that was still in my hand.
"If you want me to explain, then let me explainβ"
"No, I'm not done yet! How could you, Taehyung? After everything we've been through? How could you do this?"
"Is everything alright here?" I turned to the side, seeing Yoongi approaching the two of us. I noticed Taehyung's face visibly darken at Yoongi's entrance.
"No Yoongi, nothing's alright. I just got caught my boyfriend cheating on me. So, Taehyung, you ready to explain yourself?"
"Why don't you tell your other boyfriend to get lost first?"
I scoffed at the nerve this jerk had. Even when I clearly caught him cheating, here he was accusing me of having a thing with someone else. Yoongi was about to leave before I abruptly grabbed hold of his wrist, keeping him in place.
"Other boyfriend? How could I possibly have another boyfriend? See, cause that implies I have at least one, and I don't even know if I do because it seems that you've forgotten that you were my boyfriend. And whatever lame excuse you have, you can say it in front him too."
"Soomi maybe it would be best if I wait in the carβ"
"Besides," I continued, cutting Yoongi off, "I'm gonna need him here to hold me back in case you say something that makes me want to kick your ass more than I already do."
Despite how hateful I sounded, how charged with anger my words were, this wall I had put up gradually came crumbling down. Taehyung's eyes were void of any remorse and pain, but the pain I tried so desperately to conceal finally showed through in my eyes.
All the bottled-up feelings of heartache and torment finally broke free from my overwhelmed and numb body, escaping in a stream of tears.
I couldn't take it anymore.
How could I act all put together when I was completely and utterly broken?
When he had completely and utterly broken me.
"I mean, what do you want me to say, Soomi? What is there to say?"
"What is there to say? Tell me there was some misunderstanding. Tell me that this was a one-time thing and that it was a mistake. Tell me you're sorry. Just say anything!" I sobbed.
"But what's the point? You won't believe anything I say, and any excuse would just make you more upset."
Just like that, it felt like my already broken heart shattered into a million pieces. It wasn't that what he said was wrong. It was that I wanted him to make those excuses anyways. Sure, I would get mad, but then, maybe we could work things out. I wanted to hear those excuses because maybe that would mean he still cared, that he still wanted me.
"We're through Taehyung." I turned around, hesitating before taking another step forward. Maybe, just maybe, he'll fight for us. I was hurt, but I still loved him. In a perfect world, I could just picture how things would play out.
He'll stop me.
"Wait."
It was a wonder that my broken heart managed to skip a beat. I turned to face Taehyung once again.
Then, he'll apologize.
"Fine. I made a mistake. I'm sorry."
And finally, he'll say that he still loves me. And that he wants to work things out.
"But for the record, you broke this relationship long before I did. You've been distant for weeks, and even though I would be here for you, you chose to spend all your time with him, someone who is paid to be around you. So we're done, but at least you still have the boyfriend you hired."
The girl from before had returned fully dressed.
"I'm ready to go, honey," the girl spoke sweetly. Her voice managed to make me cringe and make my stomach churn, all at the same time.
"One second." He stopped to pick up the chocolates from the ground. "Here are your chocolates back," he spoke while handing me the box, "oh, and just for your information; it's not supposed to rain today."
"This was the umbrella, Tae," I choked out. I didn't know what came over me, but I suddenly blurted out the words. Desperation and vulnerability quickly clouded my better judgment. "That was the day we told each other 'I love you' for the first time. It was this umbrella. It was these chocolates."
He looked at me funny as if he thought I was crazy. Without responding, he simply walked off with the other girl.
He didn't remember.
While I remembered that this wasn't a perfect world. This wasn't a perfect romance in the movies.
"Soomiβ" Yoongi placed a palm on my shoulder.
"Go ahead," I managed to shout through sniffles, "say anything you want! Lecture me, tell me how stupid I was, tell me I told you so! He's exactly the kind of guy you thought he was."
Even with blurred vision, I clearly saw his eyes soften.
"Soomi, come on, I would never say that," he said calmly.
His soothing voice brought me back to my senses, making me realize I was unfairly lashing out again.
"I-I'm sorry," I stuttered, running my hand through my hair in distress. "Of course, you wouldn't. I'm sorry."
I quickly turned my back on him, feeling another wave of tears about to hit. Without a word, I hurried towards my car. My hands trembled as I fumbled with the keys. They dropped to the ground just as I neared the car door.
Before I could bend down to pick them up, Yoongi beat me to it.
"You shouldn't drive right now," he said, leading me to the passenger's side. I simply nodded, too broken to argue. "And just wait in the car. Lock the doors. I'll be right back."

Min Yoongi
I managed to catch up to Taehyung, who was locking arms with the girl from before. I ran up to the two, tapping Taehyung on the shoulder.
"Hey, asshole." The moment he turned around, I punched him square in the jaw. The girl on his arm screeched in surprise while he brought a hand up to his face, wincing in pain.
"What the hell, man?"
"Why don't I set the record straight for you. Don't you dare try to pin any of this on Soomi. She is in no way responsible for your cheating ass."
"Whatever. Of course you're trying to defend her." It took everything in me not to give him another punch.
"Actually, nowhere in my job description does it say I have to deal with my client's sorry excuse of an ex-boyfriend. That punch was free of charge. Now get lost before I get generous and decide to give you another."
He glared at me but didn't say another word before walking off.
I sighed. While making my way back to Soomi, the only thing I could do was worry about her.
As I neared the car, I caught a glimpse of her through the windshield. We made eye contact, and she quickly moved to wipe away her tears. I tried my best to make it seem like I didn't notice she was still crying when I got into the car.
Without a word, I started the engine and began to drive. It was completely silent other than Soomi trying to suppress her sniffles. Not a word was spoken until we stopped at the first red light.
"Hey Yoongi?" she asked.
"Yeah?"
"Can you make a U-turn? There's somewhere I want to go."
"Alright, where to?"
"The bar. I need a damn drink."
