Chapter 8

As soon as I was done in the school, I practically ran out of there. I stopped in my apartment to change into clothes more appropriate for bar and ran out of there too thinking I was going to be late. Instead, I've been sitting in the bar for 15 minutes.

The guys are late and haven't responded to any of my texts. I understand they might be busy, but this was their plan. How can they be late? My fun loving Hobi had insisted we go out for drinks to catch up and when Namjoon agreed, saying it was indeed needed I had no choice but to fall in line. They were the brothers I wish I had.

Don't get me wrong, I have brothers and I love them, but ever since mom passed away, they stopped being my brothers and turned into little fathers. One is enough for me, I don't need two more. Together they treat me like a doll and try to keep me in a box where nobody could hurt me. Truth be told I sometimes feel like a nerd's collectible toy never meant to be played with.

Meanwhile Hobi and Joon understand me and they never judge me. Together we are three peas in a pod. Growing up they gave me the opportunity to run wild while still being safe. They could be protective at times, but never like my brothers. It's more like the same type of protective I get over them.

I sigh as I look down at my phone trying to will a reply from them. Maybe I can manifest it if I try hard enough.

"What's got you so down beautiful?" I hear a voice from beside me.

I look up at an average height man with greasy slicked back hair. He gives me what I'm sure he thinks is a charming smile but it comes off as creepy instead. I unsuccessfully try holding back a grimace at the aura he gives off.

"Um, oh nothing I'm just waiting for some friends," I say bluntly, not trying to invite him in for a conversation. I look down at my phone again, hoping he'd get the hint I don't want to talk to him.

"Let me keep you company, gorgeous," he says, sitting on the stool beside me scooting it closer than necessary.

"No, that's okay, they will be here any minute." I say with a serious face while leaning away from him.

"How about we exchange numbers so we can meet up later tonight?" He says and places his hand on my thigh.

I look down at his hand that is now rubbing up and down my thigh, and can't help but feel irritated that he thinks he has the right. I place my hand on top of his and he smiles at me before licking his lips. I lean in close to his ear and notice his breath hitching.

"Not a chance in hell," I whisper as I squeeze his disgusting hand, leaving the imprint of my nails.

"Don't ever touch me again. You should leave now before things get messy," I say and throw his hand off my leg.

He glares at me and I raise an eyebrow at him, daring him to make a move.

"You don't know who you're messing with bitch!" He hisses at me. Any trace of the "nice guy" leaving his face.

"Be a good girl and I'll forgive you for what you just did," he mumbles, trying not to make a scene and holds his hand out to me.

I scoff and look at him like he's lost his damn mind. Who does he think he is that he can just force me to go anywhere with him?

"Are we interrupting?" I hear Joon question from behind me.

I quickly turn and see him, along with Hobi standing there and thank the heavens. I could've handled the situation, but with them here, it's so much easier. Joon is shooting daggers at the guy while Hobi puffs his chest out making himself look bigger than he is. I plaster on my fake smile and shake my head.

"Not at all, he was just leaving," I say giving the creep a smirk.

His eyes narrow on me and he gets up to leave. Just as he's walking by he bends down to whisper in my ear.

"I'll be seeing you around Princess." Standing giving the guys a nod he finally walks off.

I release a sigh and visibly sag in my chair, feeling safer now that the guys have shown up. Joon and Hobi each take a seat on either side of me ordering their drinks.

"What was that all about?" Joon asks as he and Hobi share a look over my head.

"Ugh, just some creep that was trying to pick me up while I waited for you two," I say with a shrug.

"How do you always get yourself into trouble?" Hobi laughs as he sips his drink.

"I DO NOT!" I say offended at their accusation.

If anything they are the ones getting me in trouble. There were so many times when we were in high school where they'd drag me into their shenanigans. They admitted not so long ago, it was because when I was with them they wouldn't get into so much trouble.

"Also, if you two weren't late, he wouldn't have even approached me!" I say in defense and watch as both Hobi and Joon look down guiltily.

"We're sorry Yoon we got caught up at work," Hobi says, resting his hand on my arm.

Now you see we are too close, after our years of friendship I have learned their tells just as they have learned mine. So, I can't help but notice the way Hobi's left eye twitches slightly, how he's forcing himself to swallow, and how his fingers absentmindedly draw circles on the stained bar top. When Joon loudly clears his throat and scratches behind his ear I know they are both hiding something from me.

"Out with it." I say as I look between the two of them.

"There's nothing to tell Yoonah," Joon says a little too quickly. He looks like a deer caught in headlights.

I cross my arms and lean back a little waiting for them to give in. Hobi sighs and shakes his head already willing to give in so there isn't a fight.

"Gosh Yoon's you could have let us enjoy our drinks before you started the inquisition," Hobi sighs, placing his drink down.

"We actually wanted to meet up cause work has gotten nuts and we are going to be MIA for a bit," he says avoiding eye contact.

"How long is a bit?" I ask skeptically.

"Well, you see, that's the hard part Yoonah, we don't really know. Could be a month or several..." Joon drawls out.

"We won't we have contact with each other during that time?" I ask as my eyebrows furrow in confusion.

"We can't. It's a high risk job even more than normal, so it's safer this way," He says seriously.

I know what their job is, what it means to them. If they say they're going MIA I just have to suck it up and go along with it. It doesn't mean I enjoy it, but I at least respect them enough to accept it.

Sighing and I nod my head in agreement.

"Well, if this is our last night together for a while, let's make the most of it!" I say as I raise my glass up and we clink them together before downing them.

Joon motions to the bartender for another round and Hobi pats my head.

"Tell us about your parent teacher conferences!" He says excitedly. He's always gotten a kick out of the stories I tell him.

We spend a few hours with me telling them all about my day and my argument with Mr. Kim, they tell me what's been going on with them or as much as they can. By the time we decide to call it a night we are all more than a little drunk. We pile into the same cab and the guys make sure to drop me off first even if it's the longest route to take.

Joon walks me up to my apartment making sure I don't break my ankle, while Hobi stays in the cab trying not to fall asleep. Once I've managed to open the door I turn to wave him goodbye, but he engulfs me in a tight hug and looks down at me.

"Please try and stay out of trouble while we are gone," he says nervously.

I roll my eyes and nod at Joon.

"I'm serious Yoonah, watch that temper of yours, you're going to say something to the wrong person and we aren't going to be around," he says with a stern look.

Okay, maybe I did get into trouble on my own a few times, but not enough to build a reputation like Joon makes it out to be, right?

"I'll be fine Joon. Don't worry, okay? You guys be safe and contact me when you can. I'll miss you both!" I try convincing him.

He nods and pushes me into the house. I peel off my clothes in my room not bothering with a shower for the night. The room is spinning for me last I need is to slip and fall in the shower. As soon as I hit the bed, I'm dead to the world.

Yoongi has given me the tip off that Hwang Chul, one of Choi Jihoon's top lackeys, is going to be at a local bar to meet up with someone. So as soon as I left the very unpleasant meeting with Hayoon's judgy teacher, I rushed to the safe house to change into my normal work clothes.

Chul is known to have an alcohol problem and a fierce temper. I'd consider him as good as me if he could lay off the booze, but it's his dependency that's going to benefit me tonight.

I just have to bide my time and wait for him to stumble out of this bar after his meeting. Then I can grab him and take him to the safe house, where Yoongi is waiting to go through his phone in hopes of finding out where Choi could be hiding.

I watch as he takes another shot looking around, and then his eyes land on a woman sitting at the bar alone and he brightens, heading over in her direction. It must be who he's waiting for. All I can see is her back, her full hips dip into a tiny waist and her long black hair runs down between her shoulders in a sleek ponytail that reflects the color blue as it catches the light.

She looks up at him and I'm taken aback. It's Hayoon's teacher who is talking to Chul! I knew there seemed to be something off with her, she had a clear dislike for me before she even met me and this explains it. I really thought Hayoon would be safe in that school clearly I was wrong if they hire people like her.

My fist clenches at the thought of this woman being near my innocent daughter who seems to adore her. I've known women like her for years, they sleep with the higher levels, for money and safety but are used to deliver messages. It's disgusting.

Chul seems to be getting angry, not enjoying whatever she's whispering in his ear when suddenly two very familiar figures show up behind her. I watch as she turns to them plastering a fake smile on her face. Chul makes to leave but leans down and whispers one last thing. I can feel my blood boiling and watch as he makes his way out of the bar. I decide to stay and keep an eye on the woman who is in close proximity with two more people I know.

I refuse to believe it's a coincidence that she just so happens to be Yoon's teacher, knows Chul, and is now having drinks with Namjoon and Hoseok. I reach into my pocket, pulling my phone out and hitting 2 on my speed dial.

"Change of plans," I say as soon as the phone is picked up.

"What why? Isn't he there?" Yoongi grumbles.

"He was but there's someone else we need to look into. Her name is Min Yoonah and I need to know everything about her," I say as my hand tightens around the phone watching her laugh and drink with the other two guys.

"A woman? Why? You know she's probably just some hoe they have on payroll right now," Yoongi says, his voice laced with annoyance.

"She's Hayoon's teacher, I also watched her chat with Chul, and she is now drinking with our new promoted recruits, Namjoon and Hoseok," I say through clenched teeth.

"Fuck! I'm on it! Keep Blaze away from her until I've got everything." Yoongi says and hangs up, getting to work instantly.

I slip my phone back into my pocket, and narrow my eyes at the woman who is having a great time at the bar. I don't take my eyes off her all night and follow her all the way back to her apartment. Namjoon escorts her into the building and I watch them get into the elevator that lands on the third floor. Quickly I make my way up, watching through the cracked stairwell door.

Namjoon pulls her into his arms and whispers to the top of her head. She wraps her arms around him, pulling him into her deceitful web. She waves him off and slips into her apartment, Namjoon looks down the hallway in both directions before attaching something to the top of her doorway.

Once he leaves I make my way over and see that he is not as dumb as I originally thought. It looks like he deserves the raise we have given him, because he has attached a small micropin camera to her door. It seems I'm not the only one who will be keeping an eye on her, now I just need to know why.

I stuff my hands back into my pockets, heading back down the stairs to go and meet Yoongi. She royally fucked up by trying to get an in through Hayoon and now she will pay the price.

Let the game begin.
